Distorted printing to dot matrix epson LX-300 printer

the problem im having is the same as the one mentioned here:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/ab12901e-4b1e-4a25-bdb6-25c2c4f576e8/ie8-dot-matrix-printing-issues?forum=itproxpsp
the basic problem is that when i print from a computer to an epson LX300 printer using firefox the spacing between letters seems distorted. you can find the image of the problem on the link above.
the only difference is that they are talking about using IE 8 while im using firefox 26. the user Joel-MMCC made the best explanation of the problem except that firefox is not running on trident. but it seems to be exhibiting the same problem at random. i have about 10 computers on my network but only 2 are having this problem. and i could not for the life of me figure out why.
when i tried the work around of changing the print resolution from the default 120x72 to 120x144 it seems to fix the problem except that the printout fonts and letters are now too far spaced. and since our webapp is already optimised to print on the 120x72 resolution and because we have fixed continuous forms that we print to, this work around will not work for me.
i tried installing IE9 on the troubled computer and it seems to work. the only problem is our webapp is optimised for firefox. certain javascripts dont work on IE.
im really at the end of my wits here. any ideas?

well, i have this same problem too. my only solution is to not install most driver.
@akinga: i agree, i thing it's somehow related to vga driver, and it seems only affect the new intel's. the old ones work just fine with all driver installed.

  • Problem with chinese character for dot matrix epson LQ-1600K III

    Hi All,
I really runs out of idea about my problem now. The problem is about Print Chinese character to dot matrix printer (Epson LQ-1600K III). I tried to so many device type to solve this issue, looks like the only device type can be use are CNSAPWIN and CNEPSON with CNSONG font type. The others if I print to the printer, the chinese character became # (although in the print preview it`s okay and display correctly).
Here is the bottleneck if I use CNEPSON:
    - if I have 2 window at the left and right position, if the left window has chinese character, the right window automatically shift right about 1.5 CM, which is damn weird!!! Can somebody help me
    - I tried so many ways to adjust the line size for my detail window (to cater positioning at pre-printed boxes), but looks the font size always become 10pt and line size cannot be adjustable (based on smartstyle).BUT if I used device type epescp2, it can be done!
Here is the bottleneck if I use CNSAPWIN:
    - I need to create format type in windows and SAP (SPAD). and every PC that use this printer, must define the Paper size ( China Special paper size 12inch)
    - I also think this is not a good idea because as I far as I know this is not the correct way..
Therefore, if somebody has experience about printer chinese character to dot matrix for Smartform and sapscript..please kindly help me give some advice.
Do I use the wrong device type?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Willy

Hi friends , we are using the same model ....
Are you using the chinese version operation system ? because we can print the chinese charaters without problem in LQ 1600KIII .....
We are using CNSAPWIN device type + Frondend printing access method ....

There is something I don't understand: if the barcode printed is visually correct, and exactly the same as with a laser printer, why do you want it would be better with a PDF (especially on a dot matrix printer).
Could you also tell us what symbology you use, and do you use smart form new barcode technology?

  • Crystal report printing using epson dot matrix printer (continouos paper)

Hi there, im tiff from the philippines.
i have a  question on printing using a crystal report. How do i print using epson continuous printer(dot matrix)? im having a problem printing to that type of printer specially using continuous paper. the first page is correct but unfortunately the succeeding pages are not. its automatically adjusted upon reaching the second page. hope you can help me.
thanks a lot and looking forward to hear from you soon.

Check with the printer manufacturer that the matrix printer is Unicode compliant. If it is not, it will  not work with Crystal Reports. If it is, make sure you have the latest printer driver updates.

  • Second page not printing on EPSON dot matrix

    Hi Experts,
I have created a Smart Form which has 2 pages. I am able to see the Print Preview correctly of 2 pages, (Spool also shows correctly),  but when I give the print on EPSON DOT MATRIX PRINTER, only one page is getting printed. Somewhere it seems that second page is getting overlapped on the first page. Its very strange behieveour. Dont know why its happening.
    Any ideas ??

I have done it. Well issue was:  \f command needs to be used when you create the custom page in the device type--->formats->your custom page----End of page.
In end of page simply write \f and printer will stop over writing the pages
    Thanks.

  • Barcode printing on EPSON dot matrix

    Hi,
We are printing barcode on Invoice using EPSON dot martrix. We created a new bar code using New Barcode technology through SE73 and created a ZPDF417 type .We taken a PDF417 symbology in New Barcode Technology.
While using this , the data is printing in Barcode. But while scanning the data is not reading.
The same print taking from  HP Laser or HP DeskJet , it is printing and also reading while scanning.
Why i am facing problem with Dotmatrix.
If any suggestion pls give me.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Pavan.

    Hi Pavan,
Dot matrix printers offer the lowest resolution of all available printers. Although dot matrix printer manufacturers claim resolutions as high as 360 dots per inch, the real resolution of most is only 60 dots per inch. Higher resolutions are simulated by overlapping consecutive dots. The reason that the true resolution is only 60 dots per inch is because the width of each dot is approximately 1/60th of an inch (16 mils). In order to print readable bar codes on a dot matrix printer, the Narrow Bar Width must never be less than the width of a printer dot as it is impossible for a dot matrix printer to print a line narrower than the width of a single dot. The larger the value that you choose for the Narrow Bar Width (within the allowable range for a specific symbology), the more readable your bar codes will be.
When you set up the Windows printer driver for your dot matrix printer you should select the highest dot resolution that the printer is capable of. If the driver has a Dithering option, you should also select "Line Art" or the finest dithering resolution that is supported. Some dot matrix drivers also allow you to set the intensity or darkness of the printing. If your printer supports this feature, you should set the intensity to the darkest level supported.
So i think in your case you need to tell the EPSON printer to use a minimum pitch-width in combination with UNI-DIRECTIONAL printing (Uni-directional escape character for EPSON = ESC U).
The pitch-width is something that must be setup standard for the printer (ask the system guys).
The UNI-DIRECTIONAL flag can be send prior (but part of) the actual barcode. The ESC charachter has ASCII value 027.
Most likely with UNI-DIRECTONAL print, your barcode will become readable.
    Hope this helps you along.
    Regards,
    Rob.

  • Smartform window borders not appearing in dot matrix printer Epson FX-1170

Hi all. I have a smartform with boxes (made out of windows and its borders) and texts inside those boxes. In the print preview, it shows the window borders. However, when the actual printout comes, the window borders do not appear. I have tried to change the 'output options' of the windows - I tried using millimeters, centimeters, point, lines, as well as inches, for the unit and also tried changing the width, but it still doesn't appear. Has anyone encountered a similar problem with dot matrix printers? Please help.

    Hi,
the dot-matrix printers cannot "draw" lines and pictures, so, it is not capable of drawing the vertical and horizontal lines you have defined in the smartform windows. I think that you need to write the horizontal lines using the '-' or '_' characters but I am not sure about the vertical ones. Of course, as you realize, this requires big development effort.

    Hi Agung,
Here is a way out for the issue you have submitted. I can't guarantee that this wayout work perfectly:
    Question:
As we know that the dos matrix printer supports dos prompt and thus printing speed and
life of the printing head is comparatively more than what we print the same in graphical format.
So when I tried to print from SAP Bone in dot matrix printer, the printing speed is very slow and quality of printout is not good enough.
Any clarifications on this regard would prove very helpful to me.

Do you use one of this printer types:
Dot Matrix, Printer, Needle Printer, Citizen ProDot 300 , Oki Microline, Epson FX880, Epson FX890 ?
Here the stepwise I have tried :
In order to print using Dot Matrix printers, follow the below
    instructions:
    1. Run SAP Business One.
    2. Click the upper menu 'File' and select 'Page Setup'.
    3. The Print Setup window opens. Under 'Paper', in the field 'Size', select 'Letter' from the drop down menu.
    4. Click OK to confirm your selection.
    5. On your desktop, click Start => Settings => Printers.
    6. Right click on the required Dot Matrix printer and select 'Printing Preferences...'.
    7. Click the 'Paper/Quality' tab page and click the 'Advanced' pushbutton.
    8. Under'Paper/Output'=> 'Paper Size', click on the underlined paper size(e.g. A4) and select 'Letter' from the drop down menu.
Note that if you leave the value 'A4', each page will be spreaded over 2 pages when printing using Dot Matrix printers.
    9. Under 'Graphic'=> 'Print Quality', click on the underlined value (e.g. 230X250 dots per inch) and select '120X144 dots per inch' from thedrop down menu.
Note that in case the value '120X144' is not available you should select a similar value from the list.
I did not test it yet and I am not so sure about the result but you could test it.

  • Printing Problem with Epson LX-300+ii and LX-310 in Windows Server 2012 R2 64-bit

    I recently installed Windows Server 2012 R2 64-Bit.
We have Printer Epson LX-300+ii and LX-310 (dot-matrix) that we share among users. Each user access the Server using Remote Desktop. From previous experience with Windows Server 2008, I knew that these printers will be problematic, especially regarding
    the Easy Print driver.
And I was right, using the Easy Print driver, I got the following result:
And so, I did manual mapping & disable the "Use Remote Desktop Easy Print printer driver first". Haha, what a surprise, I got the following result:
And so I uninstalled the printer driver, and install it again, thinking that I might chose a wrong driver, but.... same result. I know for sure that I chose the correct driver.
Next, I tried connecting the printer DIRECTLY to the server. Log-in to the Server directly,
not using Remote Desktop. And tried printing again, haha... really... what a surprise... I got the same problem here !!!
So now I know the problem is not the Easy Print driver, not mapping or registry problem either. It's the print driver. This is SUPER FRUSTRATING, I tried the same driver from the same CD in Windows 8.1 64-Bit with no problem. I tried it too in Windows 7
32-Bit with no-problem either. But somehow, this driver is problematic in Windows Server 2012 R2.
Any help? Anybody else bump into this same problem ? I'm close to giving up, been spending too much time figuring out this damn thing.
    Andy

    Hi Bulent Sahin,
Thank you for your reply, I tried IBM Graphics driver, but the result is equally as bad. But your answer inspire me to try different drivers. And so, the closest & best driver that I could use now is EPSON ESC/P 9pin V4 Class Driver
It's not as good as I would expect, but at least now, it's acceptable & readable. I can't believe that I'm the only one who have this problem
    Thank you Mr. Sahin

  • Problem with custom paper size on dot matrix printer

    Hi All,
I'm using CR2008 with updated to SP2. I have a problem with custom paper size (W=21; H=14), the CR Viewer show report with custom paper size correctly but when I print it to a dot matrix printer (Epson LQ 300+) the content was rotated to landscape. If print to a laser printer the content was printed correctly. My report was printed correctly by CR10 or previous versions I got this issue when upgraded to CR2008. I aslo tested my computer and printer with orther application like MS Word the printing have no problem with custom paper size.
Thanks for any advice for me.
    Han

Looking at the Epson LQ 300+ driver, I see that the latest update is from 2002. In my experience, most matrix printer drivers are not unicode. Crystal Reports is designed to only work with unicode printer drivers. See the [How Printer Driver Options Affect a Report|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/a09051e9-721e-2b10-11b6-f9c65c64ef29&overridelayout=true] article, page 6 for details. Also, see [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_dev/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes.do] note.
Finally, see if you can print from the CR designer to this printer and if you get the correct results here.
