Distorted sound from the X
I have an X-Fi Xtrememusic, and it crackles and distorts badly when running video. When I turn off the Directdraw acceleration, it goes away. However, when I do that, I can't play any games. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this? I'm running a Radeon 9200 PCI vid card.
Please follow the below document Under the heading check for Microphone setting.

Please try to check with a different player.

make sure your ipad is not muted
make sure you volume is not all the way down
make sure audio play out of the ipad when not connected to the hdmi adapter
if you did and it don't work then it's likely an issue with the connetor

No sound from the TV when using HDMI cable, No sound from the TV when using HDMI cable
I recently purchased HDMI cable and adaptor, so that I can play downloads from my Macbook Air on my TV. There is only sound from the Macbook, not the TV - Do I need as separate cable for sound?
I've got the same issue: when I connect my Macbook Air (2011) to TV via HDMI cable there's no sound through the TV system, only from the Macbook Air. I used to use my older Macbook Pro with the same HDMI adapter and it worked just fine, but not with the Macbook Air it doesn't.
My software is up to date. I tried to select the TV as an output option in sound preferences, but it doesn't yield any results.
Rebooding multiple times doesn't help either.
Any suggestions on how to tackle this problem?
Thanks in advance. -
How can I remove the background sound from the headphone jack for my MacBoo
for my MacBook Air problem adding music intensifier (Panasonic ST-HT1000) to give it an unpleasant sound background that sounds like a whiz, it's not so loud, but it is an unpleasant .. after a short time can get used to, but the fizz does not pass, however, believe that it is a big problem.
Further I notice that when MacBookAir disconnected from the charger, it remains quieter sound.
At first thought that the headphone jack (3.5 mm Headphone:
Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack) or wiere have problem, but tried 3 different cables, but that does change enything, the problem remains.
When I added iPhonu3GS playing - the background sound were not, then everything is OK!
How can I remove the background sound from the headphone jack for my MacBook Air 13?There is no way to bring that up unless you have it typed in a document. You can use My Support Profile to find a list of serial numbers that have been purchased or registered with your Apple ID.

How can I turn off the sound from the original midi or audio tracks when I edit or listen to the duplicate tracks in Logic Pro 9 ?
I'm using iMac desktop with Mac OS X Version 10.7.3. Pls advise.Dan,
It sounds like one of your preferences has changed.
Go to preferences > audio > general, and make sure "track mute/solo" is set to "CPU saving (slow response)". It is probably set to "Fast " at the moment.
This setting (fast) basically causes immediate muting from the channel strip while your song is in play. This is because the audio is still being read from the hard drive, but the channel strip is simply muted.... like a hardware mixer. When set to "CPU saving", the audio from that track, when muted, is actually stopped from streaming from the hard drive, but there is a couple second delay before the audio is actually muted.
One would think that the fast setting is generally preferable, except when you need to do what you are doing. The only way to keep duplicate copies of channel strips acting independent of one another is to leave this setting on the "CPU saving" setting.
Hope that helps -
I have elements 12 in Windows 7 but is unable to see mp4 (Canon G16) files in the organiser. The sound from the file is there but no image!
Other file formats from Canon is no problen. So What to do??
RogerMe again,
A friend suggested that I do a system restore.
I did a search for system restore in Windows 7 and got a very intuitive menu.
I selected an earlier system restore point and executed the restore.
After the computer restart I reloaded Firefox 5.0 and the Ask.com problem was corrected.
My friend says this approach may work about 25% of the time to fix this kind of problem. In my case it worked and I am happy.
Thanks all.

I am currently running a mixer into the front audio input jack on my PC, and have all external stuff (mic, mini disk, etc) coming through that.
Am I able to set up audition so that it can also record sound from the PC. For example, if I want to grab audio from a you tube video, or have an online voice chat or something enabled, can I open audition and record it? I have tried, but not been successful. My only idea is having to run the audio out of the PC, into a channel in the mixer, and then back into the PC with everything else.
Any help?Evergyro wrote:

Capturing sound from the soundcard
Hello,
Does Audition make it possible to capture the sound from the sound card?
I don't want to record a sound using a microphone, I want to save the sound which is played on the sound card.
RegardsAssumption: You are trying to record using the internal sound card in your computer.
Right click on the speaker in the task bar (normally lower right of the screen).
Select "Open Volume Control".
In the "Volume Control" application in the menu select "Properties" from the "Options" menu.
Click on the "Recording" radio button and hit "OK".
This will bring you to the "Recording Control" dialog box. Check the
"Stereo Mix" radio button.
On most computers this will change input for Audition v3 to listen to the output of the sound card.
Note1: Make sure you are using "ASIO4ALL" or "Audition 3.0 Windows Sound" or you won't hear or record anything because two applications can't use most standard ASIO sound drivers at the same time.
Note2: Make sure you change it back to "Microphone" or you won't be able to record using the computers internal sound card. -
i am getting no sound from all of the game apps on my ipad. i.e. angry birds, scrabble, but I can still get sound from the ipod app. also I can hear the games if I am using earphones
You have your mute button on. In Settings check to see if you have Lock Orientation checked or Mute checked on the right hand side. If you have Mute checked, all you need to do is click the mute button above the volume control buttons on the upper right hand side of your iPad. If you have Lock Orientation checked in settings, you double click your home button and the most recent apps will appear. Swipe your finger to the right until the Mute icon appears on the left side. Touch it and you will unmute system sounds.

Has anyone resolved the whirring sound from the Macbook late 2008 Optical Drive Self-diagnostic yet?
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If the hard drive does not appear in the DU sidebar list then it has died and will have to be replaced. No need to proceed beyond this point.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.

After attaching the headset to the audio jack, i get sound from the laptop speaker
after attaching the headset to the audio jack, i get sound from the laptop speaker
This worked for me as well. Great find! I have gigabyte ep45-ud3r motherboard and I was getting all sound through external speakers except itunes was playing the sound out of the digital output instead of the speakers. I could see this when I went to control panel > hardware & sound > manage audio devices. I did the repair as described above and now I have sound in iTunes.
