Distorted sound in videos/music through speaker?

After about 5 minutes of watching an iTunes TV Show or listening to the iPod through the speaker, the sound becomes garbled. If I exit to Home and go back in, it fixes itself, for another few minutes, then it happens again.

Interesting, I just noticed something similar tonight when I was changing ring tones. Distortion was present at different volume levels (not just loud) Sounded terrible and I don't recall it sounding like this a week ago.
Did your distortion go away? Any fix?

No sound when playing music through dock with third party apps

Hello,
When I try to play music on my Iphone (3G, OS 3) through dock connected external speaker devices (like the B&W Zeppelin) using third party apps, i get no sound at all. Example of external third party apps are : wifi radios, alarm-clock programs, video viewers,...
So i get no sound at all through the dock connector using that kind of apps. Sound is ok only with Ipod, Itune (or other apple apps).
Has anyone encountered similar problems ? Any solution would be very much appreciated.

I have done that from the first day (contacting the makers of 3rd party apps)- They say they use standard components provided by Apple. So I would like to know if anybody has succeded in listening, for example, any internet radio app though a dock station connection (zeppelin, or whatever speaker system that is not using the jack), or is this functionnaly actually blocked by Apple.

Distorted sound on video download

I downloaded the video of You Only Get What You Give by New Radicals and the soundtrack is so distorted it's like it has been run through a vocoder. Anyone else having these issues or able to suggest a fix? Trying to find out who to contact in Apple is impossible.

Okay, I finally managed to fix it and it didn't require reinstalling or any of that. I just right-clicked on the little quicktime logo in the taskbar, selected "quicktime preferences", clicked on the audio tab and just adjusted the settings to what was most suitable for my system by changing the rate (wasn't sure about that one but whatever I set it to it seems to work), size (24 bit) and speakers (5.1).
Worked for me.....

My iPhone 4S has no sound including alerts, keyboard, through speaker or when on you tube pandora etc through speaker. All settings are on and mute switch is set to allow sound. HELP!!!

Sound effects not coming through speaker

so my itouch isnt playing any sounds when i get notifications unless i have my headphones are plugged in.it thinks that my headphones are still in even when i unplug them. ive aready reset it a couple times.please help?? thanks!!

The following is a C&P from a post made by Demo. It's a better explanation that I can come up with.
Sounds like you may have system sounds muted.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

I have no sound on some of the apps I have on my I pad, I have sound on videos, music etc but not the apps.....any suggestion ?.

Try this:
(A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
(B) Reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

No text message sound and no music through speakers on iphone4s after ios7 upgrade?

I'm hoping someone has a recent New suggestion for this issue. Thank you in advance for any help.
I have tried all the common suggestions...check Do Not Disturb/done silence button/done, insert and remove headphones check or debris/done, Notification Center/done. So the only thing that showed a ray of hope was to put phone on charger and wiggle it as you remove it. As I removed the charger from phone the volume arrows on the "now playing" screen would show and I'd hear music for a moment, then silence.

Hi,
i've had your issue in the past and solved it as you; now I'm having another kind of problem (even if i plug in my earphones the situation doesn't change); But yesterday evening i've cleaned againg the charging serial port at the bottom of the device with compressed air and a toothbrush and the problem seems to be definetely solved

IT WORKED!
I had cleaned the charging port with a soft toothbrush only, to no avail. I thought I would try your suggestion, adding the compressed air. Mind you I was truly frustrated after trying all the other suggestions with NO results.

Had the same issue here. Here is the best solution I have found so far:
Hotspot + Pepwave Max On-The-Go (w/ Load Balancing) + Airport Extreme
I have a VZW MiFi, but I believe this set-up will work with other hotspot devices. I actually have 2 MiFi Hotspots with a monthly allowance of 20G each. They are plugged directly into the Pepwave router (aka, tethered). (Note: you have to have the right cable to do this. The one that came with my Hotspot was only for charging.) If, for some reason, you cannot tether with your Hotspot device, you want a router that offers WiFi as WAN. The Pepwave will do this. The Pepwave is connected to my Airport Extreme via ethernet cable. I have the WiFi on the MiFis and the Pepwave turned off. So the only visible network is my Airport Extreme. The Pepwave is essentially just functioning as a modem.
I used to have a Cradlepoint, but I did not find it very user friendly--too complex for home use. The Pepwave Max OTG is awesome. I got the one with Load Balancing so it allows you to connect up to 4 cellular devices. If you only need the one Hotspot, you can just get the cheaper Pepwave Max OTG. The Pepwave allows me to run off one of the MiFis until I hit my 20G/month allowance, then it automatically switches to the other one. That way I never max-out on my monthly data allowance. Additionally, it gives you a real-time, hourly, daily and monthly running tally on data usage.

AppleTV distorts sound, output level too high

I have a problem and have already tried a number of solutions.
My AppleTV sound is distorted, due to the output level being too high. Initially I used the TVs headset jack-connector for connecting to my amp, and lowering the output level from the TV didn't work. It is distorted from the source (AppleTV)
Now I have bought a seperate D/A converter for connecting the AppleTVs optical output directly to my analog amplifier. Still doesn't work. Sound still distorted.
When playing music through AppleTV, I have the ability to adjust the volume level on the source device. And then everything is OK.
But airplaying video/youtube from my ipad (I do that a lot - playing kiddie-flics for my toddler) there is no option to reduce the sound level.
Effectively most content airplayed will be distorted - and I am sick of it. I have a high-end amp and speakers. I do not expect audiophile quality from the AppleTV. Still I didn't expect defective/destroyed sound... And no, the AMP isn't the issue, as this has been replaced as well, due to an upgrade. Same issue on both AMPs.
Any good suggestions? Or should I simply accept that the design criterias for the AppleTV doesn't involve a reasonable audio quality? Or is my particular product defective?

No sound with video conference. Mics and speakers work fine however.

My buddy and I were trying to set up a video chat on our new MacBook Pros, but there was no sound. Video came through great though.
We know our microphone and speaker settings work fine though because we were able to set up an audio conference. The audio came through loud and clear for the audio connection. For some reason, however, when we connected a video conference, the sound went away. The connection doctor said audio quality was at zero for both of us during a video connection, but the audio quality was up near 100% during an audio connection.
Furthermore, that same day I was successfully using video conference chats at work where the sound came through fine. The online help only gives tips for how to adjust your microphone and speaker settings, but I know that's not our problem.
I'm logged onto iChat using an AIM account, and my buddy was using a .Mac account. I don't know if that would have anything to do with it, but we're going to try again this weekend after I get my .Mac account up and running.
Anyone have other suggestions for what we can try?

Thanks for the tips! My buddy and I tried to connect again this evening, but we still have the same problem. Video by itself just fine and audio by itself, but not the two together. We tried using AIM acount to AIM account and then .Mac account to .Mac account. We changed all the settings you sugested, but still no luck.
Any other ideas of what we might try?

Music through earphones is distorted yet sounds fine from the speakers?

The music through iTunes comes through fine but when plugging in earphones, the music sounds distorted, distant, and sometimes not at all. This just started today when having used it so often before it never happened. How do I fix this?

OK, then that would appear to be the computer output rather than the headphones themselves. One thing out of the equation.
As a test, you might try reducing volume levels; or have a look in Audio MIDI setup and see if changing any of the settings there help.
Additionally, is this all the time or when something else is attached (either power cable or by USB, etc.); or is there any other device nearby?

At least I'm not the only one with the issue. I was looking it up so see if others had the same problem and found a bunch of posts about it. I'm assuming it's not the phone then, it's the software. Should I bring it to the Apple Store? Replacing the phone seems stupid, because the phone isn't really the problem. It's the software! Maybe the iOS 5.0.2 will fix it??? I don't really want to wait though, it's a pain. If a lot of people have this issue it should get Apple's attention. They need to do something to fix it, ASAP!

E6-00, distorted sound on external speaker

My external speaker sounds distorted when playing music / lound ringing, and when I use it as a handsfree, I can barely understand what the other person is saying. Is it really this bad, or should I take it to a Nokia service centre?

Mine too (got the phone yesterday). Distortion doesn't seem to increase with volume. Affects all sound coming out of the speaker on the back.
Headphones output is good for the same signal that's **bleep** through the speaker (tried with the music player).
Most ring tones sound awful. I don't have a SIM card for it yet so haven't tried calls, but speech synthesis does sound pretty bad too.
