Distorted video sound

For the past several weeks online audio is distored.  After reboot seems to be OK for short time, then starts happening again. Dell Dimension laptop; Windows XP 2002; Flash 11.4.402.289.  When I check Flash, it tells me the latest release is installed, but that the plug in isn't installed.  Would the plugin fix this problem?  Please advise

1.) Please provide a complete link to a page where you're seing this problem
2.) What browser and version are you using?
3.) Check to see if there are more current audio drivers available for your system.  You should be able to get them from the Dell support site.
Let us know if the problem persists and we'll dig into it further.

  • Distorted video after importing to iMovie 09

    Please HELP!
After converting a video into .mp4 format (that i can edit it in iMovie 09) and importing it to iMovie 09 I get completely distorted video; the picture is squeezed & the sound is not synchronized.
Before i made a lot of similar videos & everything was ok.
When I try to use precision editor, it doesn't help that much, i still see bad syncr. of sound and bad picture.
Please help me, cause the video is great & i need to edit it.
Am i using the wrong importing or converting format?
If so, which do you recommend instead?
The one I always use is: APPLE TV MPEG-4 720x432 (*.mp4)
These are the properties of the converted video:
    Video ID: 0x2
    Format: xvid
    Resolution: 720x432
    Frame rate: 30.00 fps
    Bit Rate: 1501 kbps
    Total length: 00:25:15
    Audio ID: 0x1
    Format: AAC
    Sample rate: 48000 Hz
    Channels: 2
    Bit rate: 127 kbps
Is there perhaps just a simple trick that I can use so that it automatically fixes this problem?
    Any answer is welcome!!!
Please be fast with the answer!!!

  • Phone speakers stopped playing music or video sound?

Phone speakers won't play music, game or video sound.  Headphone jack, Bluetooth & docking stations work fine.  Ringtones work.  Reset phone but didn't solve problem

    Hello Abbercrombie,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
    Have a nice day,

  • Why am I getting wavy, distorted video on a DVD made with iDVD?

I made a DVD with iDVD 5 that has wavy, distorted video. It is watchable but you can clearly see that vertical lines are somewhat wavy whenever the camera pans across the scene. An up-down pan doesn’t distort the horizontal lines, however.
The source video file doesn't display this waviness. Also, I created a DVD of the same video using a PC and the resultant DVD didn't display the waviness. The waviness occurs whether the DVD is played on the computer or a TV monitor with a standalone DVD player. From all this I conclude that it has to be a consequence of the iDVD5 burning process.
Here’s some additional information: The PC burned the video from its original MPEG-2 format. The Mac burned the video from a .mov file that I created from the original MPEG-2 file using MPEG Streamclip. (I need to use MPEG Streamclip to restore (actually convert, I suppose) the audio as the source file has AC3 audio that doesn’t play in iMovie or Quicktime.) The resulting .mov file - when played with Quicktime before burning - does not exhibit the waviness, so I don't think the MPEG Streamclip conversion process is at fault.
On the same DVD I also placed a different video from the same source. It doesn’t display any of the waviness that I get from the other video. The only difference between the videos is that this latter video – after the MPEG Streamclip processing - was chaptered in iMovie HD and then exported to iDVD as a .mov file. I’d hate to think that I have to run every video through iMovie to eliminate the waviness.
So is this just an inexplicable defect or is there something that I might do differently to avoid the waviness that I’m getting in this video?
    Thanks, Robert

    Robert,
To me, the red flag is that you've created a .mov file from Quicktime for import back into iDVD. A .mov file is generally a smaller formatted movie, typically only 320X240 pixels in size. This size movie, by default, would look perfect when played in QT. But, to go back to iDVD or iMovie, the movie must be expanded back to a 720X480 size movie (typically the DV stream that these programs want and need), so expanding will cause all sorts of distortion. Can you go back to your original MPEG2 source movie and get the movie info on it? You should be able to see the original size. If it is something like 640X480 or 720X480 then use QT to create a .DV file. This will maintain the original size.

  • Video sound to TV won't run through headphones

    Hi,
I have my stereo and TV hooked up to a MacMini (the 2009 slim metal one with the optical drive).  I have a headphone splitter attched to the headphones jack going to the TV and the stereo.  The Mini is hooked up to the TV with a mini DP connector to a DVI-to-HDMI cable (but this same thing happens with a regular DVI cable).  With my old 2,1 Mini that was fine since everything ran through the headphones.
Now I want to do the same thing but iTunes I can't get the video to run through the headphones.  The only way I get sound to the TV is to run it through the HDMI output (even when using the mini DP).  But then I have to manually change the sound output.
    Is it possible to either:
    1. Have iTunes run out the headphones jack and everything else run out the HDMI?  or
    2. Have everything run out the headphones output?

    Info to add:
When any digital video is plugged into the Mini, the video sound only works when it's set to HDMI.
To get sound to my stereo I have to switch it to headphones.  Even though I have a connector going from the headphone jack to the DVI audio input on my TV, there's no sound in headphone mode.
I tried an external USB sound card and had the same problem.  Just instead of headphones it was the USB soundcard.
    Maybe it's my TV...

  • Video/Sound delay with AppleTV on higher resolutions

I have a new Sony 55" RP SXRD HD TV (1080p max res), and just hooked up my AppleTV today. After syncing it with most of my video library and some of my music library, I tested the video appearance. My initial setting was 1080i, and I experienced major video/sound synchronization delays (similar to older DVD players where you'd hear what the person was saying 5-8 seconds before they said it on screen). This drove me nuts, so I switched down to 720p res, and while the movies played okay, the TV Shows and the Music Videos left much to be desired, and still had the same synchronization problems. To remove these issues, I finally changed the res down to 420p, but now, when I watch pretty much anything (photos, album art, TV Shows, Music Videos, and Movies), the resolution is horrible, and pixelates on my TV.
I'm trying to pinpoint this to find out if it's the TV, the connection (HDMI), or the AppleTV. Can anyone offer some advice on what to look for, what might cause this issue, and how I could fix it? Thanks so much in advance!

Sounds to me like it's a problem with upscaler. Does the Apple TV upscale? If it does, then it's the upscaler in the Apple TV and is probably a software problem that can be fixed with a firmware update. But it's weird that if it's a consistent problem with the Apple TV upscaler that these forums aren't just soaked in complaints about it. Could be only a problem with really large, say 46" or greater TVs -- that might explain the low number of complaints.
If the Apple TV doesn't upscale, then it's the upscaler in your HDTV. Prior to about six months ago, when all HDTVs got good upscaler chipsets, some HDTVs, especially the older, larger models, had absolute trash upscaler chipsets -- even the expensive quality brand models got some bad upscalers. All kinds of problems from all input sources, but not always with every device. How old is your HDTV?
For your sake, I hope it's an Apple TV upscaler problem with larger dimensioned HDTVs, as that Apple can fix for free with a firmware update. Next best choice is your terrible upscaler chipset in your HDTV supports firmware upgrades via USB or network cable and there is a firmware update out that fixes your HDTV's upscaler problems. Because the final, worst alternative, if there is no update for your HDTV available, or your model doesn't support firmware updates, it's the really bad option: drop another couple grand or more for a new HDTV of the same large dimensions.

  • Scratchy, distorted, garbled sound from MP3s files

I'm having really horrible scratchy, distorted, garbled sound from MP3 files. AAC encoded files play extremely clearly on iTunes 10.5

After reviewing all comments, it appears that this issue is squarely with the 10.5 upgrade that Apple did on I tunes. I have done all the uninstall and re-install that you can do.  Songs play fine on some, terrible on others, but yet they all will play on Windows Media Player. I can't believe it is the chipset for those that AMD processors, because everything was fine on the 10.4.  So,  Apple please fix this or offer us a way to uninstall from the 10.5 to the 10.4 where everything should be okay.   Awaiting your reply with thousands of others!

  • Video Sound through Express?

I tried searching this forum, but couldn't find any answers. I am using iTunes connected via Airport Express to my home stereo. It plays music fine, but why doesn't it also stream sound for videos through Airport Express? Is there any way to do this? Video sound only comes through my PowerBook speakers.
    Thanks for any help.
    Rick

No I haven't tried that, but will. I did see in Apple's Knowledge base that for some unexplained reason movie audio does not play through iTunes to Express. I did try Airfoil, but the syncing is way off. If anyone knows how to fix that it would seem to be a good solution.

  • Video sound over a photo.

Is there a way in iMovie HD to insert a photo between two clips and have the video sound play over the photo without the video.
I want to replace a small section of video footage with a picture, but continue to hear the audio of the video, sort of paste the photo over the video.
    Thanks in advance.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Haloric,
In addition to Ivar's method you could try this.
If the photo already exists in your clip viewer or time line, select it then choose File>Copy. Now position your playhead where you want the photo to appear and choose Advanced>Paste Over at Playhead.
iMovie will automatically extract the video audio to preserve it.
If you don't already have the photo in your clip viewer or time line, you'll need to first bring it in to your project. Then just move it to the clip pane or just select and copy it right in the timeline.
This technique works with video clips too. Useful for a quick cut away to something else.

  • Distorted video - too wide

I have posted about this on Crackberry.com.  But maybe should bring it up here.
The main problem is that when viewing a video on my Z10, images are stretched left to right and so people are wider than normal and also objects like buildings, etc also are too wide.  It is less noticeable in landscape screens.  Upon a suggestion I received today, I opened the same video in the Z10's Browser and the video is NOT distorted.  But I think that the app should work properly.
Here's some extracts from the thread:
    http://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-z10-f254/distorted-video-too-wide-849144/
I copied a homemade mp4 file to the z10 of one of my vacation trips (I create a dvd movie from the digital photos). The image is "widened" and frankly I don't need any help in the WIDENING area. It seems to show correctly on my PB and on my computer. But on the Z10 it is wide. Pinch does not HOLD - bounces right back to wide.
There does not seem to be a setting to alter this behavior or appearance. If not connected to the tv, the DISPLAY/hdmi setting is grayed out.
I just created a new video. Since the phone was going downstairs, I copied the mp4 video to the phone. Plugged it into my tv but, once again, the images are distorted - too wide. So the screen is spread left to right and people are too wide. The effect is less noticeable on Scenery but you can see it for buildings and such. And, it is not just on my TV but it is also evident on the Z10, itself. So, the z10 appears to not be displaying the image or video WIDTH correctly.
I then copied the same video to my Playbook (another BB device) and the video is fine and NOT DISTORTED.
I am still on the original Verizon bb10.1.xxxxxxxxxxxx OS.
Any idea if there is a setting on the phone that I am missing.
**bleep**! I had not thought about opening the video in the Browser. You are RIGHT - the video proportions are correct when opened in the Browser. So this is a definite bug in the Video app's software or settings. Of course, one should not have to go into the browser to view videos because the app is BROKEN.
I wonder if Kalemsoft or other video apps performs correctly?
When I first posted the thread, I did not know if it was my desktop software's coding or resolution or .... So I burned off the video in format after format to no avail. I am somewhat surprised that no one else has raised this issue. Maybe I will take it to the official bb forum.

  • X300 with Distorted Video With USB Port Replicator

I have 2 X300s using the enhanced port replicators. The video on these two machines were fine for the last 2 months until last week. The video is distorted while connected to the VGA port on the replicator, but fine when connected to the onboard video. I replaced the port replicators and that seem to resolve the issue for day but the distorted video came back. Has anyone encountered this and is there fix? Both machines are on XP.

    Hello Rudi,
Thank you so much for the reply.
We tried today another T440 laptop with 64bit OS and as mentioned by you, we figured out that the conflict is happening between Intel Graphics 4400 driver with USB replicator.
When I done an uninstallation of the updated Intel Graphics and the USB replicator works fine.
As the laptop will be provided to HOD, so we will be going for a purchase of a replicator with good compatibility with 64 OS and intel video card.
    Appreciate your reply.
    Good day ahead.

  • Distorted video after export

    Hello.
I have exported a video using AVCHD mp4 format. 25 fps. 1280x720 px. Aspect "Square Pixels(1.0) 1:1. Both tried CBR and VBR. With target bitrate 1.6 Mbps. See the attached pic for settings. And also see the distorted video problem I have. Can you please help me with correcting the export settings? Thanks.

The image of the lady shows interlace artifacting and that doesn't make sense since the export was progressive and that should deinterlace the footage. One thing to check, I see that Aspect Ratio is set to "Custom", this ought to be 16:9 so please try that. Also just noticed "TV Standard" is set to "NTSC", should be "PAL" for 25fps video.
Perhaps you should take a step back. What is the intended delivery format? There are a ton of H.264 presets and most of them willl yield good results. You have everything customized and that is likely the issue. I would start with a decent preset and see what that does before you change things around.
