Distortion on display

I'm experiencing a problem with my iMac in the form of a small streak across the bottom of the display, almost end-to-end, and about as high up as the top of the Dock reaches. This streak is rather faint; normally I can't see it unless the background or image is a lighter colour or all one colour. I am aware that there was some sort of display issue with the Revision A iMac G5, but I read the FAQ on that issue and it indicated that my model is not affected by that specific problem. I also know that CRT monitors will show similar distortions when placed in close contact with another magnetic field, but since this is an LCD monitor I have no idea what's caused this or how to fix it. Suggestions?

  • Umlaut characters getting distorted while displaying in Web dynpro java

    Hi All,
I have a scenario where I am reading some string values from  a properties file placed in java DC.
The values read from properties file are to be displayed in  Web Dynpro application.
The string values contain some umlaut characters eg (ü,ä).
While displaying in web Dynpro application the umlaut characters  are getting  distorted.
    Any pointers for the same?
    Regards
    Radhika Kuthiala

    Hi Radhika,
Solution1> you can convert the property file in the encoded format, in the DC having the pr0perty file.
use this command in the command line:-->native2ascii -encoding utf8 file.txt file2.txt
Are we renaming hte files after changing the format?
In one of my previous project we have property file with the french character so we got error, to avoid this we have manually transtaled the file and utilized in the application and used the command in dos promt:-
    native2ascii -encoding utf8 source.txt destination.txt ,
here if you want to replace the existing file u have to give same name source and destination file. But we have created 2 seprate file. after translation you will something like Fre/uooch king of output.
Solution3> you can read the file and save in the Strign format and use java package import java.nio.charset.; and encode the string. ---
    Pls refer the below link:-

    Hope this may help you.

  • Crazy Distorted iMac display - Is it the video board?

This iMac just came to me so i don't if there were any symtoms leading up to its failure. It will only boot from CD and when it does the display completely distorted and pinched... take a look:
    http://homepage.mac.com/mikeneuhaus/PhotoAlbum6.html
I'm guessing the video board is shot but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

The fact that it won't boot from the hard drive, but only from the CD, sort of indicates that the hard drive is dead. I say "sort of" because you'd have to test it to be sure. Those pictures seem to indicate an issue with the "firing" patterns of the monitor, "the yoke", as David Jenson mentioned. RGB (red, green, blue).
It's too dangerous to play around with the yoke adjustments in these CRT iMacs to be worth the risk. But if you decide to do so, be sure to use a CRT discharge tool first. However, with a dead hard drive, as well as a messed up CRT monitor, I'd consider that iMac to be best used for spare parts, unless you have another one that you can get spare parts from to repair this one.

  • Distortion of Display in MacBook Pro 17"

I have owned my MacBook Pro (17") for the past three months and initially I used Windows XP. Now I use Vista.
From day-1, I started getting a distortion in the display of the monitor when I shut and open the machine without turning it off. I informed my supplier who reformatted the hard-disk and re-installed all programs.
After I installed EFI Firmware update in the Mac partition, I keep getting this distortion continuously. Our supplier has given up on giving me a solution.
My colleague at the office who uses the same model has the same problem.
Another person at the office who got his MacBook Pro (with a Nvidia graphics card) does not have such a problem. His machine is perfect.
    I would appreciate a solution.

    Hi,
I have the previous MBP 17" running at 2.33GHz and had the same 'snowing' problem when I put my laptop to sleep while running Boot Camp-ed XP SP2... Let's hope Apple will fix these problems once 10.5 is out because they claim that it is only beta version.

  • Distorted/Discolored Display

I was using my MBP when all of a sudden the colors freaked out. The whole interface looks like a negative photo. Everything looks high contrasted. The buttons are all the wrong colors and I'm having a hard time reading any text. It boots fine and everything is ok till I get to the desktop. Right when the desktop loads it changes to the distorted setting I described. Please help, the MBP is only a few days old.

Open the Universal Access pane of System Preferences and turn off the White on Black option under Seeing; the file which stores this setting isn't consulted until Mac OS X logs your account in.

  • Distorted display upon start up

I have an early 2014 macbook air 2014 model running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
I have this strange distortion of display whenever my macbook boots up. You see the loading bar just right below the apple logo when booting? During this time my screen gets distorted. At first Apple told me it's a hardware issue and they have changed my logic board. After the repair I still have the same problem. Now they are saying that it's an expected issue and there's no fix or solution for that.
Is there any one else having the same problem as mine?

  • How can I change the aspect ratio of an image display

I am snapping a sequence of images and using imgPlot to diplay the images. However, due to my camera specifications [it's a Pulnix 9701 with Pixel Size 11.6μm (H) X 13.3μm (V)], the image I get displayed is elongated in the horizontal direction, i.e. if I snap an image of a square, I get a rectangle on my computer display.
How can I change the aspect ratio of the display on my computer? The only parameters I have seen so far just control what portion of the image is acquired or diplayed, but none actually changes the aspect ratio.
Thanks in advance for any help.

If you are using an analog camera, you can set the aspect ratio in MAX. This will correct for non-square pixels.
If you are using a digital camera, I don't think there is a way to fix it during acquisition. You could resample the image to correct the ratios, but that would be a slow, time consuming process.
One other possibility is that your computer monitor is in a mode which is not a standard 4x3 configuration. For example 640x480 and 800x600 are 4:3 ratios. 1200x1024 is not, which tends to distort your displayed images.

  • PDF's will not display properly in email iOS 5

    Hello all,
On my ipad2 with iOS4.3.3 my email would auto-open pdf's and display them properly. When I upgraded to iOS 5, they still auto-open but the pdf image is distorted and displays as if it is having a hard time figuring out what the pdf should look like. For example, letters are overlapping, text has abnormal spacing and logos are very pixilated, etc. It's almost as if I am trying to open the pdf's with an incompatible program.
I have another ipad2 with iOS4 on it still. I opened up my email account on it to test and it works just fine, the same as before.

  • Distortion of screen while using beamer

When hooking up a beamer (Hitachi CP-X345) to my MBP (2.16), I chose 1024x768 pixel resolution for both the screen and the beamer. The beamer displays everything OK, but the screen on my MBP distorts the display to accomodate 1024 pixels to the wide screen. In the monitor settings, I couldn't find any way to work around this.
(BTW: The higher resolution settings gave a slightly blurred beamer display, thus I opted for the 1024x768.)
I used to use my old Titanium G4/500 within the same setting for years, never had a similar problem. Hooking up the same beamer (and many others as well), the screen on the Titanium screen would automatically display two black side bars and display the 1024x768 in the middle without distortion.
Any ideas? I couldn't find anything in the discussion group on this page.
    Thanks for your input.

What happens if you first choose 1024 x 768 on the MBP prior to making a connection to the Hitachi? In that case, is the screen on the MBP properly displaying in a non-distorted way as with your old TiBook? If yes, what happens if you then make the connection to the Hitachi?

I am having an issue with preview. PDF and Word are different:

Do you have any idea why that might be the case?

  • Display on Equium M40X - no widescreen with XP

When I boot up, the display is "full screen" until XP loads and then it is displayed as though it is a normal monitor (with a black strip down each side) and not widescreen.
I've booted in Safe mode and the display stays full widescreen.
I then reloaded the display drivers from the Toshiba site and it makes no difference.
    Any ideas please?

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply, I've checked in the bios and the stretch is enabled. The unit has the intel chipset so I've installed the correct driver (I think) that the driver download page said to.
When I am installing the driver, the instruction tells me that an option screen should come up in the early stages of the driver installation, this is where I think that the display size should be selected. Unfortunately this screen option doesn't appear and the driver just loads.
When I go to select the display size in control panel, I only get the option of 1024 x 768, there is no larger option to select.
If I stretch the screen using the display in control panel, it distorts the display so that everything is just horizontally stretched and the clarity is gone from the screen.
I''m sure that there should be another option available when I load the driver but nothing comes up.
    Still puzzled

  • Monitors problem on startup - weird flickering, zigzag distortion

    I'm at work on a G5 PowerPC Dual 2GHz, OS 10.5.6.
After upgrading to Leopard in a different studio, and then switching this CPU to a studio with two Samsung 214T 21" Monitors connected via DVI, a problem has started. When starting up, both monitors show a distorted desktop display. The displays both show the same broken up vertical columns, about 3 inches wide, and every other column shows a sliced-up portion of the desktop. Also there is weird zigzag flickering in some columns. As soon as I select any monitor resolution, or turn on mirrored displays, the monitors act fine. It seems like it may be a sync-type of problem but I'm not sure.
This problem did not happen in the original studio when the CPU was upgraded to Leopard. That studio had two Samsung VGA displays connected with DVI adapters.
Please note that I tried resetting PRAM, I gave it 4 chimes.
Also note this CPU is used for sound editing, It has Pro Tools HD hardware, as well as a recently installed Blackmagic Decklink PCI video capture board.

I am having the same problem, and i have seen reports of similar effects with other models of HP laptops. It appears to mainly be a problem in the signal from the graphics card to the screen, so either the plugin on the motherboard, the plugin on the back of the LCD screen, or the wire ribbon itself. I isolated mine to being a loose wire ribbon and by reseating the connection on the LCD screen, mine was repaired. I still keep an eye on it because if one place can be effected by socket creep, they all can. (socket creep is where a plugin or socket location disconnects over time for no other reason other than age)
Give it a try if you know what you are doing in that aspect, if not you may need to take it to a servicing center and have them do it. I suggest learning how to do it yourself, as once you begin learning how to maintenance your own machine, you can troubleshoot many different problems based on experiences with others.
Hope this helps! Best of luck to you!

thanks for trying to answer my question. I'm trying to understand your suggestions.
About Antivirus, I have Clam AV installed in Windows. But I haven't been able to run Windows (from a boot) since installing Leopard. I don't see how the mere existence of a program on my Windows disk could have affected my boot sector. Nor do I see how I could do anything about this problem were it true, since I can't boot into Windows! BTW, I did zap NVRAM earlier today while trying to deal with a wake-from-sleep problem, and I haven't been able to dual-boot since then. Are PRAM and NVRAM two separate items? If so, how would I zap PRAM?
I also don't see (but please enlighten me) how uninstalling Parallels would help me. Parallels installs Windows in a virtual disk OR can make use of a native installation of Windows if it exists. In fact, you can boot into Windows without owning a copy of Parallels.
I suspect that the problem lies elsewhere and would love to know what the issue is.

  • Need help with dual monitor setup for KDE 3.5.5.

    Here's my hardware:

Using this xorg.conf file, only my NEC LCD analog monitor could display KDE while the Samsung digital can't.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help guys, I'm halfway there.
The second monitor shows the KDE desktop, but it isn't exactly what I expected.  Right now, both monitors display at 1024x768 (each) or 2048x768 (total).  The larger monitor stretches and distorts the display of 1024x768 to its natural resolution at 1440x900 and it isn't what I wanted.  Other than that, the dual desktop setup behaves what I expected to.
Here's a snippet of my xorg.conf that currently works:

I am having trouble with the signal from a new MacBook Pro 15" to a Mitsubishi XD80U Projector using the DVI to VGA adapter. The signal projected is distorted, grainy, and jumpy. The left side of the projected picture has white lines appearing as if the picture is moving fast to the side. The projector menu, however, is clear and has no distortion. Display settings are at the Mitsubishi optimum, 1024 X 768 with 60 Hz refresh rate.
