Distribute adhoc apps Over The Air

Hi guys!!!
Have anyone managed to distribute your development app to another iphone Over The Air?
I have been giving out adhoc apps to clients by including their UDIDs into a distributable license and recompile my flash iphone project again and again...
You can imagine how troublesome it is, as long as one more customer want to view it, i need to get their UDID, and then i have to edit the license and include that UDID and then recompile the flash project AGain......
I heard that some people actually are distributing adhoc apps Over The Air, i.e. you just send a link to someone, and he/she click on that link and then he/she will download the app and start trying it immediately. No license installed or no UDID needed at all...
How's tat being done?
Is tat possible for flash cs5 compiled projects?
Many thankssss

OMG.
That flash project doesnt have to be compiled again?
I definitely have to try this out as i have been stupidly doing tat all the time...
Meanwhile... if anyone have tried over the air method please give some clues... cheers..

  • Distributing test applications over the web

    Hey folks,
I was wondering if anyone knows how to distribute an app over the web without going through the apple store. I'm currently developing an app and I want some close friends to test it. It's quite tedious meeting up with every one of them, obtaining a ticket for their phone, and signing my app onto their Iphones. Is there a way to create an "ISO" and let them install it onto their phone through Itunes?
    Thanks,

  • Over the air update problems?

Hi there. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. Twice now, when I've tried to update an app over the air (rather than through iTunes) my touch freezes up, forcing me to put it into recovery mode and restore the whole thing (VERY frustrating). Is this a common bug? Should I just avoid OTA updates entirely, or are these isolated problems?
    Thanks!
    Aaron

I've installed one application on my iPod touch via the App store and did not have an issue with it. I've updated two applications through the App store without issue as well. If it is an issue I may not have done enough OTA installations to come across it, or it might be an isolated incident with your iPod. Have you updated to 2.0.2 on the iPod? That update seemed to clear up a few Wi Fi issues I was experiencing.

The only ones I know of and have used are iFiles, Dropbox, and Aji Reader. My Yahoo Calendar also syncs with the native iphone calender app over the air.
Pardon my ignorance, but the iFile and Aji Reader apps require a wi-fi connection. I'm not sure that constitutes an OTA app or not.

  • Is it possible to get a Virus from an over-the-air distributed app?

I've been invited to participate of a beta and have seen 2 apps that can be downloaded directly from safari over-the-air. There's any risk they can harm my device in any way? And no, my iphone is not jailbroken

Thank you for the help. The developer did say they're not colllecting the UDID's or the data on the phones, but I'm not trusting my iphone and my account's safety in his words only. He did also mention that the date had to be changed in order to download it, maybe because Apple doesn't allow it to be distributed that way anymore, anyways I'll just stick with the apps I get from the Store.
    Best Regards.

  • Over the Air iOS App Release

Hi, I have developed a small eBook for the iPad using Flash and I want to show it to a friend who is across town.
He says that I can do an "Over the Air" build which he can download from an email link.  So he can download the app straight to his iPad and use it like he bought it through iTunes.
Does anyone know how to do this?

  • Can multiple iphones with multiple itunes accounts be synced to one mac keeping apps seperate over the air?

We have about 20 iPhone's in our environment and syncing and updating them has become a real chore lately.  Everyone has their own iTunes account and apps that they use. Is there a way that they can be synced, backed up and updated over the air (not iCloud) to the same MAC?  Because we are in the financial sector we will not be able to use iCloud. Should we look into some sort of private cloud and if so; any suggestions on how to accomplish it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance,
    J

We have several macs, several ipods, a couple of iphones, several itunes store accounts. So far no problem. You might have to share passwords if you want to share content. I think iStore accounts can only be used on up to 5 computers. We have 7, so have to be a little careful about that. I don't think there is a limit on how many iDevices can be used with one account. I also don't think there is a limit on how many accounts can be used on a single computer (might be wrong about that). You have to be logged into the iStore to download content, and your computer has to be registered with the account to use the content, but once it is on, and registered, syncing to an iPod is not a problem (you do not have to login in again for each account the content was purchased from). I'm just glad I only have two kids, and one wife - things could get trickier in a big family with . . .

    HI Chris,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Could you expand on your answer, which bit is very doubtful?
Also in your knowledge would Apple work with a company and license it if the software they were developing was desired by consumer demand?
    Thanks

  • How can I turn off over the air sync settings on my Mac iPhone

    Hi,
For some reason I am attempting to sync my iPhone with my laptop as usual but now in the iTunes app when I attach my iPhone and go to Info, it reads: Your contacts are being synced with your iPhone over the air from MobileMe. Over the air sync settings can be changed on your iPhone. So here is the thing, I have looked online and have found nothing at all to show me how to do this on my iPhone. I want to be able to add info on my iPhone and then connect it with my laptop and sync it immediately with my laptop and also to add info on my laptop and immediately sync it with my iPhone. Please help. Thanks

On your iPhone go to Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then select your MobileMe account. Turn off the items you don't want synced over the air.

  • Birthdays again/Exchange sync over-the-air

    Hi all,
I have a problem while I sync my contacts with Exchange 2007 over-the-air. Some contacts on iPhone have incorrect birthdays (they appear off by one day). The solution described here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2456 doesn't work for me because I have no ability to reset sync history when I use over-the-air sync.
If I try to sync my contacts with iTunes (over-the-air sync turned off in iPhone settings), everything is ok - birthdays have correct dates.
Is there solution to get in iPhone contacts with correct birthdays when sync with Exchange over-the-air?
    Thanks!

Roy, no, I have no indication that Notes are being sync'd over the air, by Mobile Me. That is why I made that comment, that Apple needs to clean up the Notes sync interface so that it is consistent with the other MobileMe sync aware apps. To me It appears that the Notes sync was just added in, so my guess is iOS 4.0.1 will clear that up a bit.
Are you sure you have Push turned on? Without that, OTA syncing will not occur. Also check in your Mac's System Preferences under the Mobile Me pane to make sure Notes are being sync'd. Not sure that affects the iPhone, but it affects the syncing in the cloud, so that could be an issue too.
I can suggest one other thing to try.
That is to do a hard reset of your iPhone (home button/and power button) This will clear your caches. Don't know if it dumps the Notes database, but it may.
Then immediately upon restart, do the Notes replacing procedure that I outlined. The key is to remove the confusion. As I said, once I cleaned up all my Notes and consolidated them in one place, then reset them all on the iPhone, everything worked as expected.
I am a heavy Notes user, and use them extensively on the road on the iPhone and in my office on my Mac and at home on my MBPro and another iMac, so I expect them to be all the same and always updated. This procedure worked for me.

  • Why did my iPod touch go into recovery mode when updating to iOS 8.1 over the air???

I was updating my iPod touch (5th Generation) to iOS 8.1 over the air update option and my iPod goes into recovery mode...I hadn't backed it up in like 2 weeks and a lot happened in two weeks with photos and everything. I have yet to see if I get any of them back but why did this happen? I thought apples over the air update was reasonably easy and secure...?

Hey Haywards, There has been reported issues with updating iPods to iOS 8, one of which is updating with the cloud or through Wi-Fi. Your seeing one of the problems. After you get things cleared up with the DFU recovery, connect your iPod with your computer via the cable and run the update through iTunes. You should be OK. Or if still an option, don't do the update at all! Many have reported several issues with iOS 8 on iPods. Slow or laggy operation, missing apps, missing music, camera roll not working or missing and huge battery drain and charging issues, just to mention a few. You may want to hold off from updating if possible. Things to think about. Good luck, Cheers.

  • Will updating my iphone 4 to ios 6 using over the air delete any thing

My iphone is running on ios 5.1.1 and i want to upgrade it to ios 6.0.1 using over the air.I want to know that will it delete my apps, contacts or any thing

No, no data should be deleted. You may have to reload the Google Maps and the youTube Apps from the App Store since they are not bundled in iOS 6. You will still be able to sign into your youTube account (if you had one).

  • Sync via cable versus over the air

when travelling outside USA (Vancouver BC Canada) have "Airplane Mode" turned ON and Data-Roaming OFF
    - but have laptop (Mac Book Air) - how to 'force' a 'sync' using cable when iPhone 'apps' and iTunes think I'm syncing 'over the air'?

POP (post-office protocol) is only for email retrieval (and SMTP, simple message transfer protocol, for sending).
If you want to sync calendar/contacts, then it is done over SyncML (synchronization markup language).
Also "proprietary" synchronization protocols, like Microsoft's ActiveSync allows message/contacts/calendar/tasks synchronization.
Nokia supports ActiveSync over-the-air through the Mail for Exchange software.

  • What happens during over-the-air update?

What processes occur during over-the-air update of an app?
This morning I checked for updates and there were 6 updates for apps on my phone. I selected one to install -- one that is listed as 0.3MB on the App Store. The new copy of the icon appeared, and the blue bar started moving. I presume that is the download to the iPhone taking place. Then is says "Installing..." I presume that is the actual installation of the updated app.
But... It seems to take a looong time to install. I could install Adobe Creative Suite on my MacBook Pro faster than this 0.3MB app is installing on my iPhone.
So what is it doing during all that time?

It appears apps don't actually update, it just downloads the new version and then installs it, part of that is removing the old version. However its getting annoying now because then I have a different version in itunes and on the phone so when I sync it wants to transfer the file to itunes, I end up with 2 versions of the same app in itunes then because it seems to not delete the old one.

I updated my iPad OTA in my office at work and lost nothing at all. However, I did backup and sync with iTunes in the morning at home, in case something went bad.
What you should do anytime that you update the device is to transfer purchases from the iPad into iTunes - File>Transfer Purchases - and you should backup the iPad as well. When you update the update the device, if something goes wrong, you can restore from the backup.
However, iTunes should ask if you want to backup before you update, but just in case create the backup yourself before you update. The backup contains your app data and settings - along with other items - so make sure you backup first.
If you have any other important files, you may want to transfer them to your computer as well, prior to the update.
    Transfer purchases.
