Distribute Adobe Reader

I am working on updating from Win XP to Win 7. I am
looking for the Adobe reader file so I don't have to continue to download the Adobe Manager, Adobe Reader everytime. I signed up for the distribute Adobe Reader but the link provide only seems to give me exactly what I had before which is to have to download Adobe Manager, Adobe Reader, etc every time. Can some one explain to me where the Adobe Reader file is located.

Go to the link on the "Thank You"  Web Page.  I just downloaded the actual Adobe Reader 9.3 Installation file from there.

  • Backup/Distribute Adobe Reader 9.4 Toolbar

I'm currently distributing Adobe Reader 9.4 via SCCM.
I would like to know how to backup and distribute the settings for the toolbar. Specifically, I need to add the save, email, first page and last page buttons for all my users.
If I can't backup a file that contains the toolbar settings, is it possible to programatically add buttons?
I've searched and not found any help thus far.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Found an answer and wrote it up here:

  • License for distributing Adobe Reader on CD?

    Hi there,
What do I have to do if I want to distribute the Adobe Reader, e. g. on a CD with technical documentation of my company? Do I need a license and where can I get it?
    Thanks.

    Read this:

  • How do you make Adobe Reader 9.3 truly Distributable?

I have a set of electronic minutes in PDF format with hyperlinks between files, bookmarks and other nice navigational features.  I need to distribute these minutes on CD to my customer with a distributable version of Adobe Reader 9.3 so that they can view the files.  We use an autorun file that runs Reader off the CD and opens the main file.  I have downloaded Adobe Reader 9.3 from the "Distributable Version" (for CDs) link provided by Adobe when I requested a license to distribute Adobe Reader on my CDs.  My customer is not connected to the internet and has to jump through all sorts of hoops to install Adobe Reader on their PCs.
My problem is that our PDF files on the CD do not navigate correctly between the different files we have while running the Adobe Reader installed on the CD.  If we run the files in Adobe Acrobat Professional 9.0 installed directly on the PC, they work beautifully.  If we run the files using Adobe Reader 9.2 or 9.3 installed directly on the PC, they work beautifully.  We have found that the Reader running off the CD will not correctly navigate these same files, unless Reader 9.2 or higher is actually installed on the PC running the CD.  This is a problem!  I'm guessing there are files installed elsewhere that are not contained on the CD version and thus the CD version of the Reader does not run correctly.
Is there a way to force ALL the files required by Adobe Reader 9.3 to install into the same folder so that ALL the files can then be loaded onto a CD for distribution with our PDF files?
Please note:  We have been providing CDs with Adobe Acrobat on them to run our Minutes automatically for several years now.  So this used to work very well.  The newest distributable version of Adobe Reader is not Behaving like the older versions and appears to require some number of files not contained on the CD.

What problems are you encountering when you send it to the trash?

  • Extract msi file from Adobe Reader 9

I distribute Adobe Reader throughout the enterprise using the Customization utility. In past, up to and including Adobe Reader 8 I have been able to extract the msi file by finding the needed files in the
%temp% folder. I am finding that is not true with Adobe Reader 9. Is there another method (other than doing a full install) of extracting the
acroread.msi file for version 9? Please do not refer me to the extraction process for version 8 that is what I am using with not success. Just wondered if there was another method.
    Thanks in Advance

Run the Acrobat Reader setup file and pause it after the setup starts. Now go to %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Setup Files\READER9 and there are all the setup files. Copy all these files and you will now be able to use the custom setup wizard for 9 to make any customizations and deploy.
    Good luck!

  • Adobe Reader 9.0  Registry Entries

I have recently distributed Adobe Reader 9.0 to 4,000+ systems in our domain. I created the install package with the Adobe Customization Wizard 9.0. Unfortunately, I modified one setting that users are complaining about: When launching PDF in IE, prompt user with open/save dialog. I checked it, thus enabling the setting. Users don't wish to have to choose so I am looking for a solution that does not involve modifying the install package in the Wizard and re-distributing the package. I don't see the setting in any of the INI files. I am guessing it is in the MST file though I don't know how this would apply to systems with Adobe Reader 9 already installed?
I am fairly well versed in Windows batch scripts so I am hoping SOMEONE knows of the Windows XP registry location to modify this option. I poured through the forum and KB to no avail though I did find other registry modification options posted.
    Anyone?

    Michael,
I have a similar issue.  I am looking for a way to set PDF/A view mode to 'Never' in AR9.2....with the same results you have....nothin'.
If I come across something, I'll pass it along.

  • Adobe Reader 9.3.2 silent install package questions, please ...

    Hello:
I am a network and Desktop Support person for a higher education facility.  I was asked to take over automating software application
    installs.
I have a script process, created by Auto-It (Scite script editor), that has been working well for Adobe Reader 9.1 with updates to 9.1.1, 9.1.2 and 9.1.3 (found on the Internet) -
    msiexec /i \\<server>\<path>\AcroRead.msi TRANSFORMS=\\<server>\<path>\AcroRead_10132009.mst /passive /norestart /update \\<server>\<path>\AdbeRdrUpd911_all_incr.msp;\\<server>\<path>\AdbeRdrUpd912_all_incr.msp; \\<server>\<path>\AdbeRdrUpd913_all_incr.msp
      My questions:
Is there a similar process for installing Adobe Reader 9.3 silently and then updating to 9.3.2?
If so, what are the steps, ex. expand/extract the initial 9.3 .EXE, then create a transform using Orca/<transform making of choice>, etc.?
With having read of some issues in this forum regarding Adobe Reader 9.3.2, should I continue using 9.1.3 and wait?
      Thank you for your time.

Well we have a wiki where I work, and here is then entry I have created on how to deploy Adobe Reader. See if any of this helps, if not, we'll take it from there.
    Deployment
It is HIGHLY recommended that you read and follow the directions of the deployment guide provided by Adobe located at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/deploying_reader9.pdf. The documentation located here is simply for a quick reference for those who have already read the guide.
The rights to distribute Adobe Reader must be obtained by filling out the form found at http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/rdr_distribution1.html. After filling out the form and being accepted to distribute Adobe Reader, you will receive an email with a link to download the redistributable version of Adobe Reader. You will be prompted to download a .exe package containing the Reader MSI file. The general form of the command to convert a Nosso-compressed file to an MSI package is:
    <path to>\AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe [<switches>...]
    Switch
    Description
    -nos_ne
Do not execute any file after installation (overrides the -e switch) This switch should be used if user only wants to extract the installer contents and not run the installer.
    -nos_o
Specifies the name of folder where the contents of the expanded package are to be placed. The folder name should be enclosed in quotation marks. It is best if you do not use an existing folder, and there should be no space following the “-nos_o”.
    For example:<path to>\AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe -nos_o”TestFolder” -nos_ne
Using the extracted MSI, create an Administrative Installation Point (AIP) using the command-line:
    msiexec /a <path to>\AcroPro.msi transforms=<path to>\AcroPro.mst
The AcroPro.mst transform file is created by the Adobe Customization Wizard 9
You can apply any patches that may have been released since the major version release. Use the command-line:
    msiexec /a <path to>\AcroPro.msi /p <path to>\AdbeRdrUpd931.msp;<path to>\AdbeRdrUpd932.msp
Once all this is complete, you can fully deploy the software by running the command-line:
    <path to>\AcroRead.msi transforms=<path to>\AcroRead.mst /qb
More information can also be found in the Enterprise Administration Guide

  • Downloading Adobe Reader from distribution licence link - 404 page not found

I have recently applied for the Adobe distribution licence for Adobe Reader. This was successful, shortly after applying I received an email with the licence attached and a download link for Adobe Reader XI, The problem is the link doesn't work I just get 404 page not found, the link I cannot put on here as the licence will be broken.
    For full installers:
To download the English language version of Adobe Reader XI with Acrobat.com in compressed .exe format, click here.
You may not share the above link, share information with others, or publish the above link on websites, blogs, or by any other means that can be publicly accessed. The information contained on this site is meant for your use only in accordance with the Adobe Reader Distribution License Agreement you accepted. You may direct others to http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/rdr_distribution1.html to request distribution rights.
What i need to know is can anyone (from Adobe) send me a replacement link, can I re-apply for the licence to get another link or even better under this licence can I download the software from Adobe - Adobe Reader download - All versions instead. I have contacted Adobe chat support who directed me to phone support, phone support flat out refused to help and said the only support would be via this forum.
Hopefully someone here can answer my questions.
    Thanks all.

Brilliant thanks, I see nothing wrong with downloading from here, it even states "In order to distribute Adobe Reader software you need to have a valid Adobe Reader Distribution Agreement in place" which I do.
    Thanks again ~graffiti

  • Adobe Reader 8.1.7 upgrade path?

Could someone please explain the upgrade path to Adobe Reader 8.1.7 for me? I read the tech note "Adobe Acrobat and Reader Updating and Deployment Information" and I find myself still a little unsure.
Our most currently deployed version is 8.1.6 but some of our users still have older versions (8.1.2 ~ 8.1.5) installed. I have been distributing Adobe Reader via SMS 2003 since version 8.1.2 as below:
    8.1.2 - Customized using Adobe Cusomtization Wizard 8 (Setup.exe /sPB /rs /rps)
    8.1.3 - Customized using Adobe Cusomtization Wizard 8 (Setup.exe /sPB /rs /rps)
    8.1.4 - Straight (installAdbeRdrUpd814_all_incr.msp /qb-! /norestart)
    8.1.5 - Straight install (AdbeRdrUpd815_all_incr.msp /qb-! /norestart)
    8.1.6 - Straight install (AdbeRdrUpd816_all_incr.msp /qb-! /norestart)
So what is my upgrade path for Adobe Reader 8.1.7 - straight install (AdbeRdrUpd817_all_incr.msp /qb-! /norestart) or do I need to customize it using the Adobe Cusomization wizard to retain the desired settings? Appreciate any advice that anyone can offer. Thanks very much.

Thanks for your reply Deepak. That is what I was expecting but when I read the Adobe KB cpsid_49880 (link), it had me feeling somewhat unsure as to what is correct. The "quarterly" and "security" releases and unacceptable upgrade paths.
    Administrative Deployment
Due to the intentional difference between "Security" and "Quarterly" Updates, IT professionals desiring to deploy Acrobat or Reader products from an Administration Installation Point (AIP) must follow certain guidelines as noted below.
AIP Creation: Quarterly Updates cannot be applied to an AIP in which a Security Update was the most recently applied Update. Therefore, to deploy a new full Quarterly Update from an AIP, create an AIP (or use previous) which includes only Quarterly Updates.
To clarify, shown below are examples of acceptable and UNacceptable "AIP" configurations:
        Acceptable:      Acrobat 9.0.0 (Original Product) -> 9.1.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.1.1 (Security)
        Acceptable:      Acrobat 9.0.0 (Original Product) -> 9.1.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.1.2 (Quarterly)
        Unacceptable:  Acrobat 9.0.0 (Original Product) -> 9.1.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.1.1 (Security) -> 9.1.2 (Quarterly)
Note, Attempting to create an AIP using the last configuration shown above will fail. The failure, however, serves to prevent a usage of updates which is not recommended by Adobe.
If I am simply installing via SMS 2003 using the command "AdbeRdrUpd817_all_incr.msp /qb-! /norestart)" do the above rules not apply (given that the end users have a 8.1.6 installed?

  • Adobe Reader Silent Install for Mac OS X

Is there a silent install package available for Mac OS X? The "enterprise" site seems to provide the same installer file as the normal site. We need to distribute Adobe Reader across ~600 machines, but the first time you open Reader it prompts users with a license agreement and then asks for administrative privileges. Even worse, it doesn't seem to install the Adobe Reader plugin until after that occurs.
Also, is it possible to get an installer package that leaves out AIR, Acrobat.com and Adobe Updater?

I know nothing about Mac OS, but perhaps you can find some information in
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/deploying_reader9.pdf

  • Using adobe reader SDK to search in PDF

    Hi,
can someone please help me, iam trying to create a program (using c#) that displays a pdf, and searches for words inside the pdf file, the search iam programming is in arabic language (which is completely different than english).
i tried to download the sdk, but the problem is that all the search samples needs the acrobat standard or professional.
i saw something about the plugins and javascript, iam good at javascript, but did not now how to implement the javascript code in c# program.
by the way, is creating free programs that uses adobe reader as a COM object needs a license? or it is free to distribute?
    Thanks very much.

    >i tried to download the sdk, but the problem is that all the search samples needs the acrobat standard or professional.
I think that's right. Think of the SDK as primarily a marketing tool
for Acrobat and the position may be simpler to see.
    >
    >i saw something about the plugins and javascript, iam good at javascript, but did not now how to implement the javascript code in c# program.
You need Acrobat Professional to run JavaScript from an external
    program.
You could write plug-ins but would need to obtain a special license to
write plug-ins for Adobe Reader; Acrobat is needed for development.
    >
    >by the way, is creating free programs that uses adobe reader as a COM object needs a license? or it is free to distribute?
Adobe Reader only offers the AxAcroPDF interface. You can freely
distribute code that uses this interface.
Note that I am not saying that you can freely distribute Adobe Reader:
there are some restrictions on this.

  • Uninstalling Adobe Reader using GPO

    Hi,
This is a test situation and once working I will want to install and uninstall other applications using GPO.  I have tried it on two target PCs, one physical and one virtual, both react in the same way with similar entries in the event log.
I am trying to distribute Adobe Reader X using GPO.  The deployment works as expected so no problems there.
The problem is uninstalling it.  The GPO side of things appears to be working as the AppState values in the registry change as expected and the following entries appear in the application log of the target PC:

Despite the log reports stating Adobe Reader X has been uninstalled the application is still there, has icons where one would expect icons, is listed in Programs and Features, and can be used.  So what is going on?
    1)      Can anyone tell me why the application is not being uninstalled?
    2)      Is it an Adobe thing or can I expect other applications to act in the same way?

  • Deploy Adobe Reader on Mac and Disable Adobe Updater

I am having trouble distributing Adobe Reader for our mac endpoints and configuring it in a way that Adobe never notifies the end user for updates. They are standard users and are not able to update the application anyway. I handle updates via push distribution. The documentation that I have read either isnt clear or hasnt worked in my testing.
    Thanks

Can you provide a link to what you're reading? It should be the admin guide here: http://www.adobe.com/go/acroadminguide

    This is what is says:
In order to distribute Adobe Reader software you need to have a valid
Adobe Reader Distribution Agreement in place.
If you are not planning to distribute the software, you are free to download and use it.
