Distribute Spacing shortcut or toolbar item?

I frequently use the distribute spacing function to space ads on a page. I know I could just leave the dialog box open but I hate having those things open because it blocks too much on screen (I have my widescreen monitor on it's edge to more accurately represent the format of a page.) Is there any way to put the distribute spacing tool on the toolbar? Even better yet, is there a keyboard shortcut or a way to assign one? I can't find one in the shortcuts menu.

Window > Object & Layout > Align shows Shift+F7 as the keystroke for the Align panel which also contains distribution options. In Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, you'll find it defined on the Window menu, where you can change or add other shortcuts. In Quick Apply (Cmd/Ctrl+Enter/Return, or Edit > Quick Apply, the shortest cut you can type to toggle the Align panel is ut>a.
Using the Control panel icons offers only a subset of align and distribute features, compared to those in the Align panel.

No, that's not possible. The default panles cannot be edited, you can only program your own as of CS4 using the CSXS classes provided for Flash (the panels use Flash's rendering engine).

Issue with events not propagating when selecting toolbar items

Hey All,
I'm on OS X Lion using CS6 beta and observing events in Photoshop form an outside application using Cocoa's NSEvent#addGlobalMonitorForEventsMatchingMask.
It seems Photoshop is stoping the propogation of some events coming out of selection of toolbar items. Here's the issue:
There are two ways to select the Pencil tool from the toolbar. (Method A) I can click the Paintbrush, holding down for a second and releasing, then mouse move to the Pencil and click, OR (Method B) I can mouse down the on the Paintbrush and drag the mouse to the Pencil.
If I use Method A I get what seems to be every event associated with the interaction, BUT If I use Method B Photoshop seems to stop the propogation of a lot of drag events.
Are there any experts out there that have an knowledge of why this is, or if there are any known work arounds?

Ned, this is a bit over my head, but FYI (and your troubleshooting research), there are other methods to get alternate tools: ALT+click to cycle them, CMD/right-click to get the flyout, and Shift+Tool shortcut (unless you changed the setting in preferences)
BTW, method B is not the same as A? The only difference is that in A, there is a release, then a move to target area, then another click, while in B, we have a hold, then a move to the target area, then release.

I have a whole bar of all the toolbar items next to my search window. How do I get rid of this?

When Firefox updated to 8.0.1 a toolbar of toolbar items appeared. I can't access the items and I can't get rid of the toolbar. It's big and annoying. How can I get rid of it.

SOME FUNCTIONS BEHIND MENU/TOOLBAR ITEMS NOT WORKING

In application the toolbar button 'new record' and 'next record' are not
working. The associated menu items also not work.
When copying same set of binaries to another directory with another forms
listener then everything is ok. So the problem is not in the fmx's.
Most menu/toolbar items do work only those two have problems.
Any suggestions?

The problem was probably due to a connection error.

How can I permanently delete the default bookmark toolbar items (getting started, most recent, etc.)?

I can't seem to permanently delete the default bookmark toolbar items. They show up frequently on start-up, even after manually deleting them in a previous session. I use 3.6 x_32 on Linux (for Flash) and 4.0 RC 1 x_64 (for non-flash) sharing the same profile.
I use the X-marks extension and I thought that was the cause the problem, but the problem keeps happening even after deleting all of the the default items in each version and then overwriting my x-marks server data with a forced upload both times.
I'm guessing that x-marks will be most people's prime suspect. I just want to make sure that firefox isn't recreating the items as a default behavior.
I know it's a minor annoyance, but I keep my bookmarks toolbar pretty full. Thanks.

Does it still happen if you temporarily disable Xmarks?

Can I set toolbar items to open in a new tab by default without right clicking 1st and telling them to?

I like to have some tabs open at the same time. Then I have some items in the toolbar that a sometimes need to open. I would like them to automatically open in a new tab without closing any tabs I already have open. Can this be done? I know if I right click on the toolbar item then choose open in a new tab it works. ??

I do not know of any way to specify only some bookmarks to open in a new tab. You could middle-click on a bookmark to make it open in a new tab.
There are add-ons that can make all bookmarks open in a new tab, such as:

When NOT using icons on the toolbar, side-bar drop-down for additional toolbar items has disappeared with Firefox 4 and accessing these items requires clicking 'Bookmarks', then 'Show all bookmarks' then 'Toolbar'--ugh, what a pain.

On older versions of Firefox, Toolbar links ran across the top of my screen, with a drop-down to the far right which would show additional Toolbar items for which there was not room on the screen.
With Firefox 4, if I'm not using icons (text only), the dedicated Toolbar drop-down is gone and I have to first click 'Bookmarks' to the right of the Toolbar ribbon, then 'Show All Bookmarks', then 'Toolbar' in order to access my additional Toolbar links. Could anyone have made it any harder?
Why doesn't someone just restore the drop-down at the far right of the Toolbar so that all of my Toolbar items (which I prefer to keep separately from the regular Bookmark items, else I would have just plain bookmarked those items in the first place) are readily accessible?

You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden (View > Toolbars > Customize or right-click a toolbar). 
If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press F10 or hold down the Alt key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily. 
You only see the Bookmarks menu button if the Menu bar is hidden.

Distribute spacing value needs to be sticky

The Distribute Spacing value needs to remain sticky based on the last value I gave it. If I have previously distributed a series of objects to a set spacing value and then set it back to Auto prior to distributing another series of objects the value automatically switches back to the numerical value I gave it previously when I choose the key object. Illustrator needs to stop trying to think for me and just leave the value to what was last set, including and most importantly Auto. What's really annoying is that the change of value doesn't happen until you press the distribute button.

Having upgraded to 4. I have lost my bookmark toolbar items. If I tick/untick bookmark toolbar in view/toolbrs the space appears/dissapears but not on the items in that list show

the list of items is still there when I go to the bookmarks dropdown

My toolbar setup -- while not exactly the same as yours -- follows some of the similar concepts, and as soon as I upgraded to 31 I encountered exactly the same frustrating flakiness with the row holding my Boomarks Toolbar items. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out solutions to these things, but this one had me stumped. Since the problem was persisting when I completely disabled Classic Theme Restorer I never thought of seeking a fix there, but the CTR setting you identified is what allowed my tweaking to finally bear fruit.
This is clearly a bug in 31. No matter *where* you put the bookmarks toolbar items (assuming there is no flexible space or anything else "interfering," they should *not* disappear and collapse into a single-button item in the right-hand drop-down. For me, every time I would open a new tab the row of bookmarks would appear for a split second and then disappear "into" that button. Without going into details, before reading your solution I was able to make them remain visible via a setup where there was a blank toolbar sitting above them. But the wasted space was unacceptable.

Adobe Reader X - Toolbar items slowly disappear

We have a software developer's system that is acting very oddly with Adobe Reader X. It is a Windows XP SP3 machine with 3GB RAM. What is happening is that after a PDF is opened in Adobe Reader X, after a while all of the toolbar items slowly disappear. I've done everything from redeploying Reader to the machine, using the Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool after uninstalling it, checked to make sure that the system's memory usage was within reason, etc... The system is rebooted regularly (usually every morning or evening), undergoes a virus scan regularly, etc...
We're at a loss as to what could be causing this. The last thing I want to do is rebuild the system, as it would be a headache for both me and the software developer.
As you can see below, some of the items in the toolbar remain, such as the page number and zoom text box. The file menu remains intact, but the items in the toolbar slowly disappear after Reader X as been open for a while.
Also, sometimes the items disappear by themselves, othertimes if you just mouse-over them they disappear.
Any ideas or suggestions?

I've just started experiencing the exact same problem. I upgraded to Reader X a good month or so ago, and I've had it open with documents loaded for long stretches most days since installing it, but I didn't notice the problem until Sunday 9th Jan. Closing Reader and reopening it brings back the toolbar, but then it disappears again after a while.
I too am running Windows XP SP 3, with 2 GB RAM and an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ CPU.

Toolbar items I add do not stay on bar after restarting Firefox 4.

Toolbar items I add do not stay on bar after opening firefox 4 again. I need to add them each time I start firefox, even basic ones like Print. Some stay put eg home but mostly they are wiped out on the main bar that contains the Awesome bar and search bar.
Am I missing a plugin or something?

Illustrator CS4 - Distribute Spacing Auto option

I made regular use of the Auto setting of Distribute Spacing to equally space all objects between the end two objects. This option appears to have disappeared from CS4 - there is no Auto option available from the spacing box.
Is there an alternative method is equally distributing objects that is as simple as the previous option. I know that I could calculate the spacing I need manually, but it takes a bit longer to do

Why do keyboard shortcuts for menu items created in System Preferences appear in Firefox menus but not work?

Given that Firefox does not obey the System Preferences custom keyboard shortcuts, why does it still display those shortcuts in the menus, thereby incorrectly telling users that they will work?
This issue was raised 6 months ago, but the only posted answer did not explain why the menus reflect the shortcuts that Firefox doesn't obey.

Outlines are discussed in a series of articles beginning with Creating an Outline in Chapter 5 of the Pages '09 User Guide. A similar set of articles, beginning with Creating Lists follows immediately.
Reading through the articles, I don't see any mention of a keyboard shortcut or menu item related to moving an item up or down in the list. A search through Pages '09's menus was also unproductive.
Apparently this 'essential function' is unsupported in Pages.
Feature requests should be made through Provide Pages Feedback, found in the Application menu (in Pages, the 'Pages' menu), where they'll go to and be read by Apple. Here you're posting to Pages users, who can help you use existing features, but have no direct influence on missing ones.
The Pages '09 User Guide, a searchable pdf document, is available for download via the Help menu in Pages.
