Distributed Oracle Application implementation

Dear all
I am EBS technical consultant and I am working on SOA and have distributed Oracle Application implementation, Please consider the scenario and suggest me and idea.
Assume
1. We have 2 Oracle Application R12 (EBS-1, EBS-2) installed at 2 different remote locations, network disconnection may be broken in this network.
2. User always work on (EBS-1 installed at Head office) and only work on EBS-2 (installed local) in case network connection is lost to connect with EBS-1.
EBS-2 is a replica of EBS-1 when installed first time.
Scenario
Last inventory Item ID is 5444 at EBS-1
Last inventory Item ID is 5444 at EBS-2
user created new item at EBS-1
Last inventory Item ID is 5445 at EBS-1
Last inventory Item ID is 5444 at EBS-2 (No new item created)
Now User can not access EBS-1 and now start working on local EBS-2 and take following steps.
create new item at and now inventory item id is 5445. and create misc receipt to this newly created item.
Now EBS-2 installed at head office is available and now transaction made at EBS-2 need to be transferred at head office, and what about inventory item id, 5445 is already created at EBS-1 how and i have to import item and misc receipt, inventory item will be different how can i load misc receipt transaction.
Please help.
1. Can I solve this issue by using BPEL process. ? or
2. this type of integration is not possible in Oracle E Business suite.
3. Oracle Application will not work in Distributed environment.
please suggest me.

I have a similar question but the scenario is somewhat different.
The are two separate organizations and both have implemented EBS (Vision 1 and 2). they both are under third organization (vision A). for numerous business processes, both vision 1 & 2 get their approvals from vision A. Moreover, inventory and master data is required to be sync in all three.

vision 1 vision 2
In some instances, a sub organization from vision 1 can be placed under vision 2, thus requiring movement of its relevant data from vision 1 to 2.
the scenario implies that all three organizations are running an EBS instance which is a legacy for the other.
can we achieve this integration?
Please do let me know if I am unable to explain the use case.

I've installed using rapid install Oracle applications 11.5.10.2. I've read that implementing more than one module it can be much easier to use Oracle Applications Implementation Wizard. I've found documentation about this wizard but I cannot start it. Does it need to be seperatly installed after installing applications?. I do not have standard user wizard that should be created after installation of implementation wizard, also I do have only 2 roles containg word implementation

One correction, there was installed user wizard, only the password was different then wizard. That user have assigned to implementation roles

documentation of application Wizard describes following steops to launch the wizard:
1. Sign onto Oracle Applications using a user ID that has access to Implementation Wizard responsibilities. (You can use the predefine user Wizard, with password "Wizard.")
2. Choose any of the "Implementation" responsibilities.
3. Open the Application Implementation Wizard Startup window.
4. Using the Process list of values, choose the Wizard Implementation Process.
5. Leave the Context field blank.
When I open application implementation wizard get a window with tab
Functions / Documents / Processes
Goint to processes I cannot choose Wizard Implementation Process, from functions I can open Implementation wizard however in the next window "Select process group" there are no process groups, so I cannot go further.
How can I launch oracle implementation wizzard?

I'm more technically skilled than familiar with 11i funcationality, but in that past I have found that setting up an 11i demo environment has helped our app configurators.
It is called 11i Vision, and is a demonstration environment Oracle offers. Setting this up, if possible, at your organization might be helpful to you. The Vision demo install is offered as an option in the regular installation CD set.

I am presently engaged in Oracle Application implementation project of a major Fortune 500 company. We are at present 11.5.7 and client is planning to upgrade to 11.5.8 in the end of April'03.
Client is also planning to upgrade to 11.5.9 by end of november'03. Now any of you have any idea regarding when Oracle is planning to come up with the version 11.5.9 or whether Oracle will directly move to Release 12 from 11.5.8.
Your input will be a big help for me to prepare the IT Roadmap for the client. Your early response will be highly appreciated.......

Implementing oracle applications 11.5.8 trial version

Hi ALL
Pls, could someone help me. I am implementing the version 11.5.8 Trial version of Oracle applications and I am having problems. I 've a 140GB hard drive and 512 ram stand alone PC. The problems are:
1. I need to install the MKS software I cannot seem to get an evaluation version. The company wants me to pay Â£349 sterling which nearly $500 licensing fees.
2. The rapid install keeps asking me for a domain name. I have entered system32/drivers/etc/host and it still has not work.
Pls, any help regarding above queries will be deeply appreciated.

1. Earlier MKS Toolkit evaluation is available for 30 days. It looks like that they are no more giving the evaluation software. Recently i have visisted the MKS site, but end up getting no evaluation software from there. TRY out on Google, you may found somewhere. MKS is mandatory to install oracle apps on windows.
2. if you put an entry like in the host file as
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 dorothy.imafidon.com
when the rapid install asks for the domain name give the name as imafidon.com

Implementing client-cert auth in web.xml in Oracle Application Server

I am new to implementing security features on the web applications.. I have developed a new web service using jdev1012 and deployed in OAS 10.1.2. Its working fine according to the business requirements, but I am in need of implementing client-cert authentication to enable the web service available to only those who have client certificate.
My server details are:
Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
Server certificate is in place and SSL mode have been already enabled.. able to access my web service through https://<mydomain.com>/myws/TreqWS as well able to see the WSDL file through https://<mydomain.com>/myws/TreqWS?WSDL.
I tried to include the following in my web.xml file as part of implementing CLIENT-CERT authentication.

Hello,
You have different level of integration of SSO services in OC4J 10g (10.1.3).
If you are using an LDAP server you can integrate that using the LDAP security provider and support SSO between applications. This is documented as part of the Identity Management Integration.
Also in 10.1.3.0.0 you need to have at least an LDAP server (or bigger identity management solution) to do SSO.
In 10.1.3.1.0, that should be available this summer, OC4J will have a new security service that will allow applications to be authenticated in a single sing-on fashion. (Stay tuned to the OTN forum we will publish a beta version very soon)

Developing for a Oracle Application Server with SSO

Hello there,
I'm developing an application (Java) that will be deployed as a partner application within an Oracle Application Server 10g at my client. This Oracle instance has a SSO already configured, and my app will use this Identity Manager (consuming the cookie). The problem is that at my company we don't have a SSO system configured, not even an Oracle Application Server, just a simple Oracle XE 10g to hold data. So I'm wondering how can I do to develop my application and test it.
I was looking forward to install an OAS and configure an SSO to validate my implementation, but the download link provided by Oracle is broken (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/index.html). Another alternative that I thought of was to install an OC4J and configure a Java SSO to simulate the behavior of OSSO, and make my app the cookie set by it. But OC4J supports only til Servlet 2.4 and my app is using 2.5...
And to complete, I cannot access my client's environment. I'm supposed to write a Deploying document telling him how to deploy my app and then try to access it through Internet.
Does anyone have an idea of how can I develop and test my app in my company's environment?

SSL test in Oracle Application Server 10.1.2

we are using one Oracle Application Server Web Cache 10.1.2 as our web server.This redirects users to the Application Server.(EBS 12.0.4)
Now we need to implement SSL to secure user credentials.So i am planing to implement SSL in our web cacahe server.Will this be enough to secure user credentials??I dont have any idea.Please help.
Moreover our web cache is not configured in SSL during the time of installation.Can any body suggest me a place from where i could get one demo Certificate to put it onto my web server and test the SSL confiration.EBS has provided one demo for application tier(inside $ORACLE_HOME/apache/certs/).
But we will have to implement in web cahe tier not in application tier.
We are using EBS 12.0.4 in Hp-Ux v11.23.

Discoverer Plus associate with the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure

Hi Everyone,
I just install the Oracle BI (v 10.1.2.0.2) into my 2003 server so I could use the Discoverer Plus and Viewer. This is a stand alone BI installation (I guess, I have little knowledge about Discoverer plus or Oracle AS).
My question is how could I connect the Discoverer plus to my ODS database, so I could create report or view report.
and where to find the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure (or How do I know I have the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure?)
I read the Oracle BI Discoverer Configuration Guide, and it tell me to associate the Oracle BI with the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure to deploy the Discoverer. so I went to the BI Application Server Control page, the Infrastructure section, the Identity Management to configure the Internet Directory, so I could I have the public connection, but it didn't work.
Also do I real need the Oracle AS Infrastructure to make the Discoverer Plus work?

Hi Kevin,
Oracle AS Infrastructure is needed only if you are implementing SSO for Discoverer or using Public connection .
Else only Oracle AS Middle tier is sufficient to work with Discoverer Plus .
Regarding "how could I connect the Discoverer plus to my ODS database, so I could create report or view report"
You need to create the End User Layer (EUL) and then grant privilege to the EUL to users who will be creating the report .

I am having the same problem with doc and xsl. I have added this
<mime-mapping>
<extension>xls</extension>
<mime-type>application/vnd.ms-excel</mime-type>
</mime-mapping>

<mime-type>application/msword</mime-type>
</mime-mapping>
to my web.xml. I even restarted the server. I still see doc and xsl in binary.
Is there some other setting that needs to take place?
I am using WL6.1 with fixpack 1.
I can see the doc and excel files in the browser if I don't go through the weblogic
server. That just confirms it's not my browser.

- I've tried to include my own mail.jar (1.4.2) and activation.jar (1.1.1) files in the war file that I deploy, but it doesn't work (the server still uses the same mail.jar 1.2)
- I've tried to put the mail.jar (1.4.2) and activation.jar (1.1.1) files in the applib directory of my OC4J instance, but it doesn't work (the server still uses the same mail.jar 1.2)
- I know that a patch exists : I've read the following document: How to Make Libraries such as mail.jar and activation.jar Swappable ? [ID 552432.1]
This article talks about the Patch 6514136, but this patch only applies to : Oracle Containers for J2EE - Version: 10.1.3.3.0

I strongly suggest to upgrade to AS 10.1.3 to get this.
Think of future support of AS 9.0.4. You will get not critical patch updates anymore.

It's about how to call a web service from a Form or a .sql (via Request) in Oracle Applications:
Could you please explain here the detailed steps (with code example if it's possible) to invoke a webservice from Oracle Applications?.. how did yo do it...?
I've read differents posts here and the 33097.1 metalink note (by the way, the first recommended link in this note is broken...), but there are lots of theorical concepts and no real examples to see how/from where invoke the WS
I'll have to call one webservice (I suppose the customer will give me the interface implementation)...but I've never did it with Applications so that's why I ask you for all the detailed steps...
I work with Forms 6i, Apps 11.5.10.2 and DB 9.2.0.7.

I did using java program to call BPEL web services in 11.5.10.
I pasted below the metalink note for your reference (Note:250964.1)
The idea is first write a java program to call the webservice (in my case it is calling an BPEL web service, so this may not help directly), test it.
Then port the java program as specified in the note, so that you could call your web service through concurrent manager scheduler.
Is this ok?
