Distribution kit with DLL

I use LabWindows CVI 8.0.1 on an XP machine.
I have distributed several applications to other PCs without any problem.
Now I try to distribute an application with the name "client" that includes a DLL and I do not seem to be able to install it on another PC.
On the destination PC, I see the following message:
"Error 1334. The file CLIENT.EXE.MDF100 cannot be installed because it cannot be found in the cabinet file 'Distfile.cab'"
I checked the contents of this file and indeed it holds the file "Client.exe" and "adb_dll.dll". But the client.exe.MDF100 file is not included.
As a check I verified the distribution of another application without a dll and there is indeed an MDF100 file with the application name.
If I use a PC on which there is already a CVI 8.0.1 application installed (and hence all the CVI dlls are in place) and I just copy the client.EXE and the adb_dll.DLL file to new directory, the application works.
I concluded that the problem lies in the installer who somehow puts the EXE file in the distfile.cab instead of the compacted version MDF100.
How can I solve this ?
Francis

Hi Francis,
Do you have any special characters (non-alpha/numeric i.e.: "+","-","/", ...) in your file names or directories in this project or distribution? This is usually the cause of this error, but there could be something else as well.
Keep me inform about the problem.

  • Rebel T4i Kit with 18-135mm Lens, STM lens like Amazon?

Amazon has it for the same price, but I noticed it is listed as the STM lens, which is a new lens specifically built for the t4I.
Bestbuy has it listed for the same price, but doesn't list it with STM.
No point in buying the same camera with an older lens from Bestbuy when you can get the same one from Amazon with the new lens.
    Hope this can be clarified.

Free Goods Determination in Sales Order
Free goods has the following limitations:
    - Free goods can only be supported on a 1:1 ratio. This means that an order item can lead to a free goods item. Agreements in the following form are not supported: u2018With material 1, material 2 and material 3 are free of chargeu2018 or u2018If material 1 and material 2 are ordered at the same time, then material 3 is free of chargeu2018.
    - Free goods are not supported in combinations with material structures (for example, product selection, BOM, variants with BOM explosion).
    - Free goods are only supported for sales orders with document category C (for example, not quotations).
    - Free goods are not supported for deliveries without reference to a sales order.
    - Free goods cannot be used in make-to-order production, third-party order processing and scheduling agreements.
    - If you defined a free goods for variants in a generic article (only SAP Retail), you can only process the variants in the purchase order and goods receipt individually (as single articles). In other words, you cannot process them using the generic article matrix.
    4.6x
Not all Sales Order can be used for free goods determination.  You have to check the SD document category if it does not work.  Only category 'C' are supported.  Check transaction VOV8.
Assume that you want to configure an inclusive FREE goods routine.  Customers must order a minumum quantity of 5 before any free goods can be assign.  For every quantity of 3, the customer will be given 1 free goods.

  • TrueTime Card and how to interface with dll file!?

I am trying to interface with a PCI-SG 2U (IRIG) timing card (Used to made by TrueTime, now Symmetricom).  Does anyone have a solution for this card in LV 2009?
If not, can anyone give advice on writing code to interface with .dll file?  I am not sure how to pass through the "GENERIC_READ | GENERIC_WRITE" into the function to open the device. The function says to open it is:
    TT_OpenDevice(boardID, GENERIC_READ | GENERIC_WRITE, &hDevice)
No clue on how to pass this in.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks -
    Tom

Thanks Mike.  I do have the .h file and the sdk information.  I went through and used the Import>Shared Library Tool and was able to find all the header information that way.  I guess that my problem/question is, the documentation says that it is a DWORD to pass as an input, but LabVIEW says it is a uint32.  I guess the real question is, what the heck do I pass in to the dll function?  Should it be the string "GENERIC_READ | GENERIC_WRITE" or something else?
    Thanks -

  • Attn: Sun. Can we distribute the JRE with a program we write?

I'm trying to find out whether it's legal to distribute the JRE with a program I write. If you look at the license agreement when you download the JRE, first it has the regular license agreement, which says that you can't. But then it has the "supplemental" license agreement (and it says that this "modifies" the regular license agreement). In section 2 of the supplemental license agreement, it quite clearly states that you can as long as you don't modify it and you include some little messages in your documentation.
So I'm hoping to get an answer from someone who actually works for Sun. It seems pretty clear to me that we ARE allowed to distribute the JRE with a program, but people keep sending me emails when I tell them about it - saying things like "You can't program in Java because you can't distribute it."
What I want to do is have an installation program that installs my game and then installs Java (with Sun's JRE installer - this is included ONLY so that it can run my game, as stated in the supplemental license agreement). I should also mention that I do actually intend to SELL this program, so if that's a problem, please say so. Anyways, could someone from Sun tell me whether this is allowed or not? I don't want to break the law.
    - Steve Fletcher

The JRE includes a readme file that explicitly states that distribution is permissible, given certain conditions. In particular, look at the 1st paragraph below:

Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition
    Version 1.4.1
The Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment is intended for software developers
and vendors to redistribute with their applications.
The Java 2 Runtime Environment contains the Java virtual machine,
runtime class libraries, and Java application launcher that are
necessary to run programs written in the Java programming language.
It is not a development environment and does not contain development
tools such as compilers or debuggers. For development tools, see the
    Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition.
    =======================================================================
Deploying Applications with the Java 2 Runtime Environment
    =======================================================================
When you deploy an application written in the Java programming
language, your software bundle will probably consist of the following
    parts:
Your own class, resource, and data files.
    A runtime environment.
    An installation procedure or program.
You already have the first part, of course. The remainder of this
document covers the other two parts. See also the Notes for Developers
page on the Java Software website:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/runtime.html
    Runtime Environment
To run your application, a user needs the Java 2 Runtime Environment,
which is freely available from Sun for application developers to
    redistribute.
The final step in the deployment process occurs when the software is
installed on individual user system. Installation consists of copying
software onto the user's system, then configuring the user's system
to support that software. You should ensure that your installation
procedure does not overwrite existing JRE installations, as they may
    be required by other applications.
    =======================================================================
Redistribution of the Java 2 Runtime Environment
    =======================================================================
The term "vendors" used here refers to licensees, developers, and
independent software vendors (ISVs) who license and distribute the
Java 2 Runtime Environment with their programs.
Vendors must follow the terms of the Java 2 Runtime Environment Binary
    Code License agreement.
    Required vs. Optional Files
The files that make up the Java 2 Runtime Environment are divided into
two categories: required and optional. Optional files may be excluded
from redistributions of the Java 2 Runtime Environment at the
    licensee's discretion.
The following section contains a list of the files and directories that
may optionally be omitted from redistributions with the Java 2 Runtime
Environment. All files not in these lists of optional files must be
included in redistributions of the runtime environment.
    Optional Files and Directories
The following files may be optionally excluded from redistributions:
    lib/charsets.jar
    Character conversion classes
    jre/lib/ext/
sunjce_provider.jar - the SunJCE provider for Java
    Cryptography APIs
localedata.jar - contains many of the resources
needed for non US English locales
ldapsec.jar - contains security features supported
    by the LDAP service provider
dnsns.jar - for the InetAddress wrapper of JNDI DNS provider
    bin/rmid
    Java RMI Activation System Daemon
    bin/rmiregistry
    Java Remote Object Registry
    bin/tnameserv
    Java IDL Name Server
    bin/keytool
    Key and Certificate Management Tool
    bin/kinit and jre/bin/kinit
Used to obtain and cache Kerberos ticket-granting tickets
    bin/klist and jre/bin/klist
Kerberos display entries in credentials cache and keytab
    bin/ktab and jre/bin/ktab
    Kerberos key table manager
    bin/policytool
Policy File Creation and Management Tool
    bin/orbd
    Object Request Broker Daemon
    bin/servertool
    Java IDL Server Tool
In addition, the Java Web Start product may be excluded from
redistributions. Depending on the platform, the Java Web Start
product is contained in a file named as follows. The actual
product version number would replace the <version number> notation.
    javaws-<version number>-solaris-sparc-i.zip
    javaws-<version number>-solaris-i586-i.zip
    javaws-<version number>-linux-i586-i.zip
    javaws-<version number>-windows-i586-i.exe
Redistribution of Java 2 SDK Files
The limited set of files from the SDK listed below may be included in
vendor redistributions of the Java 2 Runtime Environment. All paths
are relative to the top-level directory of the SDK.
    - jre/lib/cmm/PYCC.pf
Color profile. This file is required only if one wishes to
convert between the PYCC color space and another color space.
    - All .ttf font files in the jre/lib/fonts directory. Note that the
LucidaSansRegular.ttf font is already contained in the Java 2
Runtime Environment, so there is no need to bring that file over
    from the SDK.
    - jre/lib/audio/soundbank.gm
This MIDI soundbank is present in the Java 2 SDK, but it has
been removed from the Java 2 Runtime Environment in order to
reduce the size of the Runtime Environment's download bundle.
However, a soundbank file is necessary for MIDI playback, and
therefore the SDK's soundbank.gm file may be included in
redistributions of the Runtime Environment at the vendor's
discretion. Several versions of enhanced MIDI soundbanks are
available from the Java Sound web site:
    http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/sound/
These alternative soundbanks may be included in redistributions
of the Java 2 Runtime Environment.
    - The javac bytecode compiler, consisting of the following files:
    bin/javac [Solaris(TM) Operating Environment
                                 and Linux]
    bin/sparcv9/javac [Solaris Operating Environment
                                 (SPARC(TM) Platform Edition)]
    bin/javac.exe [Microsoft Windows]
    lib/tools.jar [All platforms]
    - jre\bin\server\
On Microsoft Windows platforms, the Java 2 SDK includes both
the Java HotSpot Server VM and Java HotSpot Client VM. However,
the Java 2 Runtime Environment for Microsoft Windows platforms
includes only the Java HotSpot Client VM. Those wishing to use
the Java HotSpot Server VM with the Java 2 Runtime Environment
    may copy the SDK's jre\bin\server folder to a bin\server
directory in the Java Runtime Environment. Software vendors may
redistribute the Java HotSpot Server VM with their
redistributions of the Java Runtime Environment.
    Unlimited Strength Java Cryptography Extension
Due to import control restrictions for some countries, the Java
Cryptography Extension (JCE) policy files shipped with the Java 2 SDK,
Standard Edition and the Java 2 Runtime Environment allow strong but
limited cryptography to be used. These files are located at:
    <java-home>/lib/security/local_policy.jar
    <java-home>lib/security/US_export_policy.jar
where <java-home> is the jre directory of the Java 2 SDK or the
top-level directory of the Java 2 Runtime Environment.
An unlimited strength version of these files indicating no restrictions
on cryptographic strengths is available on the Java 2 SDK web site for
those living in eligible countries. Those living in eligible countries
may download the unlimited strength version and replace the strong
cryptography jar files with the unlimited strength files.
    Endorsed Standards Override Mechanism
An endorsed standard is a Java API defined through a standards
process other than the Java Community Process(SM) (JCP(SM)). Because
endorsed standards are defined outside the JCP, it is anticipated that
such standards will be revised between releases of the Java 2
Platform. In order to take advantage of new revisions to endorsed
standards, developers and software vendors may use the Endorsed
Standards Override Mechanism to provide newer versions of an endorsed
standard than those included in the Java 2 Platform as released by Sun
    Microsystems.
For more information on the Endorsed Standards Override Mechanism,
including the list of platform packages that it may be used to
    override, see
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/guide/standards/
Classes in the packages listed on that web page may be replaced only
by classes implementing a more recent version of the API as defined
    by the appropriate standards body.
In addition to the packages listed in the document at the above
URL, which are part of the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition
    (J2SE(TM)) specification, redistributors of Sun's J2SE
Reference Implementation are allowed to override classes whose
sole purpose is to implement the functionality provided by
public APIs defined in these Endorsed Standards packages.
Redistributors may also override classes in the org.w3c.dom.*
packages, or other classes whose sole purpose is to implement
    these APIs.

This is for the curious but impatient.... (from the link above)
. I contacted Nike about the shoes and if it would work with other things such as an Elliptical machine, sadly no. I really can't imagine that it is an "impact" sensor. That would blow out extremely fast for an avid runner. It has to be something else.
    Anyway here is their response:
Thank you for contacting Nike regarding our Nike + iPod Sport Kit.
The Nike + iPod Sport Kit will work for both walking and running. Unfortunately, this will not work with elliptical machines or for other sports at this time. We will forward your interest in this product to the proper department. Hopefully, Nike will come out with a compatible product in future seasons.

  • Camera Connection Kit with a SanDisk CF card reader not working in iOS4

Camera Connection Kit with a SanDisk CF card reader worked great before switch to 4.2.1. Now I get a message:"The connected USB device requires too much power". Again, worked great in OS3. What did Apple change? Same circumstances. The CCK works with the SD card reader, so it is working. Anyone running into this problem? Any answers? I have to use CF cards. As do many people with DSLRs.

I would be very happy for Apple to make a Compact Flash card reader just like the SD connection. Its something I would purchase immediately. Sadly Apple is yet to realise that not everbody uses crappy little point and shoot or entry level DSLR cameras and those that have the high end gear are those who woulld actually use the iPad in the real world for a travelling "light-box".
BTW does Apple ever look at this forum? or is it just a place that they specifically ignore when it comes to faulty programming or products?

  • Distributed Cache Mode With W2k8 Enterprise ServerCore ???

Hi, can someone teach me how to configure  BranchCache in Distributed Cache Mode with W2k8 Enterprise ServerCore? tks a lot!

    Hi,
Since Server Core installation provides a minimal environment for running specific server roles, which reduces the maintenance and management requirements and the attack surface for those server
roles, so the installation process of BranchCache Distributed Cache Mode is the same as the Windows Server 2008 with GUI. Since there isn’t any official document about this, I suggest we could use the following guides as reference.

  • Create image buffer with dll function

    Hi,
I have a usb barcode scanner which I control with a bunch of functions in a dll file. I used the wizard which was pretty straightforward. Now I can send most of the commands I want but have a slight problem when initializing image mode. There is a createimagebuffer function but it wants a string input, "a pointer to the destination buffer for image data returned from the scanner". What am I suppose to point at and how do I do it? Im new to this (first time experimenting with dll files) so I may have missed something important.
    Regards
    Andreas

It should point to a string. The string should be large enough, e.g. it
should have a lot of characters in it. If the function also has a length
input, you can configure the dll so that the string length is automatically
    linked to that input.
    Regards,
    Wiebe.

  • Integration of ContentDB Dev Kit with JDev

    Hi All,
I have downloaded "Oracle Content DB Developer Kit". I have worked with JDeveloper 10g earlier.
Can any one suggest how to integrate the CDB Dev Kit with JDeveloper 10g.
    Thank you

    Hi,
Everything you need to know is included in the documentation found in the devkit.
Specifically, from the table of contents, click on "Compiling and Running Code Samples".
Scroll down and you will find a section on using JDeveloper for EventHandlers which talks about the jar file you must import from the server.
    cheers
    Matt.
    Using JDeveloper for EventHandler Implementations
The Content DB Developer Kit and API Samples package also includes two additional JDeveloper projects for editing and compiling server plug-ins (EventHandler implementations):
    jdev/server1012.jpr
    jdev/server1013.jpr
These project files have their library paths pre-configured to include the lib/db-devkit-server.jar from the the developer kit package. The projects also require the content.jar file to be present in the lib directory of the developer kit package, so you must copy the $ORACLE_HOME/content/lib/content.jar from the Content DB server into the lib directory of the developer kit package.
There are two deploy files under the jdev directory of the developer kit package:
    jdev/server1012/server1012.deploy
    jdev/server1013/server1013.deploy
When using the corresponding project in JDevleoper, you can right click on the deploy resource to automatically generate a handlers.jar file. This will contain the compiled sample EventHandler classes. The handlers.jar file is genereated in the jdev/server1012 or jdev/server1013 directory, depending on the version of JDeveloper you are using.
To deploy the developer kit server libraries and EventHandler sample implementations onto the Content DB server, copy the generated handlers.jar file and the lib/cdb-devkit-server.jar from the developer kit package onto the Content DB server. Then expand both jar files into the $ORACLE_HOME/content/custom_classes directory, using the jar -xvf command.
