Distribution Channel Vs Sales Document Type

Dear All,
I have a confusion over my configuration process. My customer has the following types of customers:
1) Distributors, 2)C&F, 3)Institutional Sales, 4)Modern Sales, 5)Employee Sales, 6)Scrap Sales, 7)Sale of raw materials and 8)Exports.
Now I have an option of either creating 8 distribution channels and maintain one Sales document type or I can define one Distribution channel and define 8 sales document types.
My requirement can be achieved by both means but I wish to know which would be a better approach. Whether creating multiple Distribution channels or creating multiple sales document types. Can you please suggest me a better method among the two with advantages and disadvantages if possible?
As far as pricing condition records are concerned, I anyways have to maintain in the key combination either sales document type or distribution channel. So i am a little confused over which is a better approach

In normal cases, we would be having different sales areas for the following
1)  Domestic
2)  Exports
3)  STO
4)  Institutional
In fact, some clients would like to have Domestic OE and Domestic Retail since predominently, they cater to these segments and would like to have reports based on these.  In my earlier project, they had gone for even Exports OE and Exports Retail due to the fact that their major sales is exports.
In your case, first decide whether to go for a seperate sales area or sale order type depending upon the volume of business the client would do.  If the sale is going to happen only occasionally in any of the above, then have one sales area called miscellaneous sales.
As for as possible, have the document types to the minimal for better performance.
thanks

  • Sales document type is not defined for(sales org/division/distribution chan

    Hi Friends,
I am getting the error that sales document type is not defined for x/y/z(sales organisation/division/distribution channel). while creating sales order.
    Any pointers will be rewarded.
    Regards

    Hi there,
When you define a sales doc type in VOV8, you also should assign that to the sales area SA (sales org / dist channel / division).
Only then you will be log a sales order for a sales area.
Check if you have done it. You will find it in SPRO --> Sales & Distribution --> Sales --> Sales doc header --> Assign sales doc type to SA.

  • A sales document type to all sales areas

Is there a short cut to assign a sales document type to all sales areas (not to assign a sales document with a process of assignment one by one - I need to find out a solution for a single assignment for all sales areas)?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Cathy,
The Assignment field is in this path
IMG - SALES AND DISTRIBUTION - SALES - SALES DOCUMENT HEADER - ASSIGN SALES AREA TO SALES DOCUMENT TYPE.
Here you can see you have four steps to be configured
    Combine sales organizations     OVAO
    Combine distribution channels   OVAM
    Combine divisions                     OVAN
Assign sales order types permitted for sales areas OVAZ
To work on any Sales Document type keep this 4 steps blank.
You wll not get any Error.
    Reward if helpful,

  • BLOCK A SALES DOCUMENT TYPE

    HI FRIENDS,
WE WANT TO BLOCK PERTICULAR DOCUMENT TYPE FOR A SALES AREA FOR PERTICULAR PERIOD. IS THERE ANY SETINGS? PLEASE CONFIRM, IT'S URGENT.
    KAUSHIK

    Hello,
you vcan assign sales area to the document type.
Please go into the customizing the following menu path:
    > PRO
    > Sales and Distribution
    > Sales Document
    > Sales Document Header
    > Assign Sales Area To Sales Document Types
Assign Sales Area To Sales Document Types
In this menu option, you allocate the allowed order types to each sales area group.
You do not need to make any entries at all if all the sales order types are allowed for each of your sales areas.
If you wish to check allowed sales document types, you must set up common sales areas. This means you must define common sales organizations, common distribution channels and common divisions. If, for example, you have define common divisions, then you must also define common distribution channels and sales organizations.
    Example 1 (simplest case):
Only the sales document type "standard order" (OR) should be allowed for a specific sales area <0001/01/01> (that means: sales organization 0001, distribution channel 01, division 01). The following activities are required for this:
1.1) Activity "group together sales organizations":
         Sales org.  Ref.sales org.
         0001        0001
1.2) Activity "group together distribution channel":
         Sales org.  Distr.ch.  Distr.ch.  Doc.type
         0001        01         01
    1.3) Activity "group together divisions":
         Sales org.  Division  Division Doc.type
         0001        01        01
1.4) Activity "assign allowed order types to sales areas":
         Ref.sales  Distr.ch.  Division Sales doc.type
         0001       01         01       OR
    Example 2:
The above settings should also be used for the sales area
I hope that the information are helpful.
    Regards
    Claudia

  • How to configure a new third party sales document type?

    Hi SAP SD gurus,
I am new to the SAP world, I need your help in configuring a new third party sales document type for a site.
There are existing third party document types being used in the region, but the client wants an entirely new third party document type that is activated for CREDIT MANAGEMENT.
I just need your inputs, as how to go about it. If I copy from an existing third party sales doc. What additional steps do I need to follow? Like Item category config, copy control settings, and credit management.
Is there a need to create new billing types?
Also as per process, by creating a new document type, how will it affect the logistic processes, if any?
Thanks a lot in advance for your valuable inputs.

    Hello,
You can create new document type under following customization path
    SPRO>>Sales and Distribution>>Sales>>Sales Documents>>Define Sales Document Types
Now create new document type by copying the standard document type OR
    Now go to
    SPRO>>Sales and Distribution>>Sales>>Sales Documents>>Sales Document Item>>Define Item Categories
which is already defined for third party sales (TAS)
Now assign this iteme category to your new document type
    SPRO>>Sales and Distribution>>Sales>>Sales Documents>>Sales Document Item>>Assign Item Categories
Assignment needs to be done in combination of sales document type and item category group (BANS)
    Now
    SPRO>>Sales and Distribution>>Sales>>Sales Documents>>Schedule Lines
Assignment of schedule line is already done as you are using the standard one.
Lastly, you may need to maintain copy control for your newly created sales document type for this go to
SPRO>>Sales and Distribution>>Sales>>Maintain Copy Control for Sales Documents
(Copying Control: Sales Document to Sales Document)
Here you can define copy control requirements.

  • Sales Document Type K with negative price

    Hi
Please, I have the following error. I defined a sales document type ZS01 with sales document category "K - Credit memo Request".
When i create a sales order ZS01 and define price 1000 USD in PR00 condition type the price is converted to negative ( - ). I changed K for C (Order) and try again created another sales order and when I define the price 1000 USD in PR00 they no change
Why the price is changed a negative value in sales order with sales document category K?
    Best Regards
    Enrique

    Hi Enrique,
There is nothing to do with the sales document category here. You can set that one to K only.
This setting is done in Condition type.
Goto V/06 T.Code or follow thw path:
    SPRO>Sales and Distribution>Basic functions>Pricing>Pricing Control>Define Condition types>Maintain Condition types.
Here search for Pr00 using position option.Select that line and goto details. In Control data1 tab there is a field calles ad plus/minus.
For your case it might be set as "X".Remove that one.
    Save.
    Regards,
    Krishna.

  • Sale document type in retail

    hi experts !!!!!!!!
    for IS-Retail project
here two company code bp01 and bp02
bp01 is responsible only for procurement and distribution so goods transfer from one company code to other company code site bye standard sales cycle and not thr stock transfer (client reqirement )
i treat this normanl sales cylcle OR--LF----F2
or what is the right thing to do here???????
BUT when sales from site of bp02 there is POS SO DTA COPY FROM POS TO SAP
so here which sales document type should be used
    and delivery and billing too
    please guide
    thanks

    Hi Hanumant,
    Case 1. Cross Company Sale
Since you are procuring and distributing in company 1 and sales in company 2
And as per you said you are selling from Company 1  to company 2
Then a PO has to be created in company 1 against which a SO - DLY - Bill (OR - LF -F2) will be done.
    2. POS Sales
As Steven said, there's no need of sales order and delivery for POS sales.
But you may use (OR - FL)
For billing you have to use/copy billing document type "FP" for POS billing.
Maintain the item category, copy control, inbound profile and other config in SPRO.
    Hope this helps.

    Anirban Roy

  • Crystal Report - multiple sales document types

In XLR, I can easily drag 'DocNum', 'DocDate', 'Sales Doc Type' fields and specify the filter to show sales doc type equal to A/R invoice and A/R credit memo. It neatly shows various types of sales documents and display them in rows.
In crystal, I have to drag the 'DocNum', 'DocDate' fields for A/R Invoice, A/R credit memo individually under different columns. Is there a way I can dispaly mixed sales document types in rows? Thanks.

    Hi,
In XLR, you get the data from JDT1 table. You can do the same for CR.
    Thanks,

  • Immediate Transfer Order Creation not occuring for Sales Document Type

    Hello gurus,
I have a situation where a transfer order is not being created immediately for a specific sales document type.
Here is an example document flow of a desired scenario where the system is working:
    Sales document type:  ZOR
    >  Delivery type:  LF
    >  WMS transfer order
The Item Category in this scenario is TAN.
Here is an example of the document flow in the current scenario where the system is not working:
    Sales document type:  ZPRD
    > Delivery type:  LF
The Item Category is also TAN in this scenario.  The only identifiable difference in these scenarios is the sales document type.  For the ZOR SaTY, a Transfer Order prints immediately once the delivery is created.  For the ZPRD SaTY, a Transfer Order needs to be manually created after delivery creation.
Is there a configuration setting that is controlling this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for the link.  When I insert the WMTA output type in the delivery output header, the Transfer Order is automatically created.
The problem I'm running into now is the configuration setting that controls this.  I thought I figured it out when going to this IMG path:
SAP Customizing Implementation Guide  -->  Logistics Execution -->  Shipping -->  Basic Shipping Functions  -->  Output Control -->  Define Print Parameters Shipping
When selecting the Delivery Note, the shipping point I was using was not configured in this location.  I added the shipping point into this transaction, saved, and created a new order & delivery.  However, the WMTA output type still was not automatically inserted into the delivery when saving.  Is there another location I should be looking to fix this so that when I enter an order with a particular Shipping Point, the WMTA output type automatically appears in the delivery?

  • Billing block for customer for sales document type OR

    Hi
I want to block a customer for a particular sales document type OR
    How to do it?
    Regards

    Hi Nikhil
There is a field called "Check Partner Auth.", but it is necessary to create the order from a contract. This field is in sales document customizing VOV8.
    SAP Documentation:
    Check partner authorizations
This check determines whether a partner is authorized to release against a contract.
    Procedure
Here you can specify whether the check is to be performed against the partners in the contract or the partners in the customer hierarchy. If you do not want the check to be performed, leave the field blank.
When you create a release order for a contract, the system determines whether a partner is authorized to release against the contract. The check is performed at header level. Depending on the rule you enter in this field, the system checks against one of the following:
    Partners in the contract
If the partner has the partner function AG (sold-to party) or AA (sold-to party authorized to release) in the contract, the system accepts the partner as the sold-to party for the release order.
    Partners in the hierarchy
If the sold-to party of the contract is at a higher level in the customer hierarchy to the partner who wants to release against the contract, the system accepts the partner as the sold-to party for the release order.
    Note
If you create a contract with reference to another contract, the system does not run a check and it copies all the partners created in the target contract. If you do not want it to do this, use copying control in Customizing to change it.
    Regards.

  • Two different billing document types for 1 sales document type.

    Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement , wherein our client is having counter  sale.
He is using one sales doc type , and while creating a order , he is manually adding payment terms.
Requirement is , if the payment terms are cash, billing doc type created later on should be one , else during credit sales , billing document type should be different.
As per my understanding this is not possible.
Want to know if anyone has some different thought on this.
    Thanks in advance
    Nilesh.

    Dear Nilesh,
There two options you can look in to
    One option is
1.You can define different sales document types for cash and credit.
    2. You can define two different billing documents.
3.Do the copy control settings for each combination
    Cash sales order >Delivery>Cash invoice
    Credit sales order >Delivery>Credit invoice
    Second option is
    1. You can maintain single sales document for both the processes.
2.Define two different billing types then do the copy control settings for both billing types.
But in this option user need to select the billing type manually based on the process while creating billing document.
I hope this will help you,
    Regards,
    Murali.
