Distribution to Church Members?

My church sends its newsletter both by snail mail and in PDF. To save postage and trees we'd like to increase the use of PDF. Some members, though, might not have the Reader, and for those with a telephone internet connection, 33MB is prohibitive.
So we'd like to make installation CDs to lend. How might we get a license to do that? The Reader Distribution agreement says it's for commercial use. Can I use that? I don't have a "company e-mail address", or a job function, so the agreement on its face doesn't seem to fit us.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Off2work,
Based on my experience, if you want to send mail to the member of a security group, you need to mail enable the security group first.
Note:
Should be noted that this only applies to Universal Security Groups and not Global Security Groups

  • GroupWise Distribution List losing members

Have just upgraded to GW 8.0.2 on servers and clients. When adding to an existing distribution list users remain. When the participation is changed to CC they dissapear. Added users from the user account and from the distribution list with the same result.
    Any suggestions?

  • Distribution list without members

Where the message will go if there is no user on particular DL

I keep a few of those "Black Hole" DL's and populate them with the e-mail addresses our developers make up on their own to "test" if e-mail is working.
Unix admins also seem to delight in creating shell scripts that send e-mail using a sender's address that uses their machines domain name (e.g.
[email protected]), and the machine isn't running a SMTP daemon, so NDRs and DSNs (and, in some cases, replies from recipients) just sit in Exchange's transport delivery queues and set off SCOM alerts
    about queue lengths. :-(

  • Unable to edit Distribution Group membership via Outlook (works via ECP).

SITUATION: I am attempting to enable the ability for specified users to edit the membership of Exchange 2010 distribution groups via Outlook 2010.  I have configured permissions via RBAC for them to be able to do this by following the instructions and
    running the script found here:
    http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2009/11/18/453251.aspx
After running the script, users specified as group managers are able to edit group membership through the ECP.  But when they attempt to do so via Outlook, they receive the same message that they would see if the permission to edit group membership
    was not enabled:
"Changes to the public group membership cannot be saved.  You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object."

  • ActiveDirectory module doesn't support Contacts in Distribution Groups

    Hi,
In my AD I have several groups, of the Distribution type, whose members are a combination of Contact objects and other Distribution groups.
If I use the Get-ADGroupMember cmdlet, the members which are Contact objects are not returned.
If I use the Add-ADGroupMember cmdlet to add a Contact object to a Distribution group, an error is thrown claiming the Contact object cannot be found (even though Get-ADObject finds it successfully).
As a workaround I've used ADSI to retrieve the Distribution groups and manipulate the Contact members but I feel there is a bug with the ActiveDirectory PowerShell module artificially restricting which AD object types can be members of groups.
    Regards,
    Jason

If you have Exchange, you may using cmdlet - Add-DistributionGroupMember or using adsi.
    $group = Get-ADGroup "CN=Contacts,DC=contoso,DC=com"
    $user = Get-ADObject -Filter {name -eq "Contact1"}
    $agroup = [ADSI]"LDAP://$($group.DistinguishedName)"
    $auser = "LDAP://$($user.DistinguishedName)"
    $agroup.Add($auser)

  • Defect #368646: Defect manipulating Distribution Lists

As stated in the Admin API Object Defect, there is a probleme using
Distribution List with members beloging to another domain than the one
    you are connected to.
This problem occurs ALWAYS for me and not only in certain cases.
Does anyone knows if Novell is aware of this problem, and will take any
action to support the method .users.Item ??
I don t see any other solution to manipulate distribution list correctly?
    Thanks
    For Information : Admin object
Defect #368646: In some circumstances, when the Admin API is used to
get a user in a secondary domain and report the name of that domain, in
    the following way -
Set usr = objAdminSystem.Users.Item("bbaggins", "books", "secdom")
    UserDomainName = usr.Domain.Name
the Admin API will report the name of the primary domain instead. In
addition, your Admin API application now thinks that any user in
the secondary domain now belongs to the primary domain. Defect
    reported
    to GroupWise Development.

Thanks for the answer but it s not possible as the GroupWise system is
    spanning over many eDir trees.
I have used the UserIterator to access the User object I need, despite it
is far longer than the Users.Item method, it works
But as soon as I iterate in the User Collection, I found what is shown as
duplicate users (may be unreadable object and the API is returning the
previous user red) and after 3700 users .. my program hangs the
    gwcmb1.dll.
Do you know if the API has some defects not reported in the defect list ?
Does Novell support this API ? I had a look for SOAP but there is nothing
to manage the GW objects, does Novell have a Admin SOAP ? or is planning
    to have one ?
Thanks for the answer. We have around 5000 GW users, 5 eDir, 12 domains
and around 20 POs .. and we are facing big issues to have a robust and
    open solution.
We are still using the API Gateway (on a 5.1 NetWare server in a VWWare
session as no hardware supports now NW 5.1) and our goal was to migrate
our DLs management from API Gateway to Admin Object API.

  • BT say they are UNABLE to connect our Church to BT...

    Hi all,
I had BT Infinity installed at home some months back on the High Wycombe exchange and all has been fine with typically 25 to 37meg download.
My church however 200 metres away (St Peter's Loudwater) can't get BT Infinity installed. WHY ?
The church is on the Bourne End exchange, and can only get 0.5 to 1.5meg.   From that it is trying to run its admintration, its website (which has to be maintained by church members from their homes) and other functions.   The church site has a fibraoptic infrastructure and uses state of the art screens presentation systems in the church, its halls and outbuilds. But all of this grinds to a hault when attempting to access the outside world.
I have spoken to BT who say Openreach manage the network and they can do nothing to help other than suggest we contact our Local MP.. I was told Openreach can't be contacted as they are not CUSTOMER FACING other than by email ([email protected] from which we get a standard computer generated NO, BT Infinity will not be installed in this location).
    THe heartache :
The churches phone connect is only 12ft ( yes 3 metres !!!!! ) away from a cabinet which has BT Infinity connected to it and free connection spaces for addtional cables. Our Vicar a few days back, spoke to a BT engineer who was working in the box, and was told that yes it could be connected, but he didnt have a works order to do so.
NOW I don't know who BT and Openreach are in business to servce, the public or themselves, but they clearing seem to be ignoring a congregation of 300 Christians souls WHY !!! Can anyone body help.

    David Bedford

I suspect that BT would regard a potential Church account as a business account and not a residential account.
Might be worth a phone call to BT Business to confirm [or rule out] this theory.
[I know several congregations have terminated their Business telephone account and opted to use personal mobiles or a PAYG mobile for a Church, rather thana fixed line account. Logically, the broadband would be Business as well, and not residential].

  • Free / open source Closed Captioning software?

I'd like to add closed captions to a feature film I produced. I understand the difference between closed captioning (which is embedded in the video and decoded by the TV) and DVD subtitles, and I would like to add real closed captioning.
Is there any free / open source Mac-compatible closed captioning software I can use to add captions to my feature film and create a .cc file for importing into DVD Studio Pro?
I'm more than comfortable with steep learning curves and X11 interfaces. If I have to use a text editor and timecodes, that's fine too. I just need that .cc file to add true closed captioning to my video, and I don't have the dough for commercial CC software.
    Thanks!

my company does offer closed captioning as a service, Kelly is correct when he says the software is very expensive. as far as creating a .scc file with a text editor, i don't believe it is possible but i may be wrong. when opening a .scc or .cc file in a text editor, it does look like a bunch of "gobbledygook". but the .cap file that is used to create the .scc or .cc file looks a bit more manageable and could possibly be created without captioning software, again i may be wrong and have never attempted to do it. but say you could do it, you could save a bunch of money by creating the .cap file and giving it to someone who has the software to convert it to .scc or .cc. if that seems overwhelming and want to job it out, you could save some money by transcribing the video yourself which is a significant part of the cost when outsourcing. here is a sample of what a .cap file looks like:

  • Bounced messages are returned to all people in an email list

I have a distribution list called "members", with about 40 people, that include contacts that are mostly external to our company.  External senders can send to this list.
I sent out a message from an account that i have at gmail.  this was sent to the MEMBERS distribution group on my companies exchange server.  From there, it gets sent through a SmartHost server, MXLogic (or McAfee Email Services or something like
that) that provides virus scanning/spam scanning.  One of these SmartHost relay servers was blocked by Microsoft, and it caused several of the recipients to be blocked, causing a "failed delivery, this IP is blocked" email to come back.
However, instead of just informing me, the sender, this was returned to everyone on the distribution list.
    Why?
If I sent the message, why would the email server decide it needs to notify everyone on the distribution list?
50% of the time half the stuff you read is only half true.

Why would the email bounce to everyone?  a failed delivery report for the specified emails should come back to the exchange server, but it should only notify the sender, not everyone.  Is Exchange not intelligent enough to recall who sent the
original message, and thus just sends the non-delivery to everyone?  I find that very hard to believe.
50% of the time half the stuff you read is only half true.

  • [WLST offline]: Cannot create distributed destination

We have a small problem with WLST and distributed destinations. I have made the following code:
readDomain ('< our domain path >/Demo8')
    # Check that the queue exists
    ls ('/JMSServer/cgJMSServer1/JMSQueue')
    create ('myQueue1','JMSDistributedQueue')
    cd ('JMSDistributedQueue')
    cd ('myQueue1')

    cd ('member1')
    set ('JMSQueue','queue1')
    cd ('..')
    cd ('..')
    UpdateDomain()
The problems is, that the command "set ('JMSQueue','queue1')" fails.

The best way to create distributed destinations is to create physical destinations in single server mode and then create more servers and a cluster. wlst offline will automatically create distribued destinations and members. Considering that the recommended JMS architecture is homogeneous, there is little need to do it manually. An example:
    readTemplate('c:/bea813/weblogic81/common/templates/domains/medrec.jar')
    cd('JMSServer/MedRecJMSServer')
    q=create('newQueue', 'JMSQueue')
    q.setJNDIName('newQueue')
    cd('/')
    create('newServer1', 'Server')
    create('newServer2', 'Server')
    create('newCluster', 'Cluster')
    assign('Server', 'newServer1,newServer2', 'Cluster', 'newCluster')
    writeDomain('d:/temp/domains/813/medrec/medrec_0720')
    closeTemplate();

  • FYI: Confirmed flaw with Outlook Auto-Complete lists w/Exchange Online

Ever since our organization migrated to Exchange Online we noticed a flaw with how Outlook's Auto Complete list (nickname cache) operates.  We've finally gotten a confirmation from Microsoft that the following is indeed a problem:
Each entry in a user's local Outlook auto-complete cache is represented by an LDAP distinguished name.
When Exchange is hosted on-premises these entries pretty much never change.
When your organization is hosted on Exchange Online, the distinguished names for your mailboxes can change without notice due to maintenance processes (Microsoft's engineers have confirmed this to be true).
There are other ways that a mailbox's distinguished name can change (re-creating a mailbox, etc.)
Outlook's local auto-complete cache has no way (currently) to reconcile changes should any of its entries' distinguished names change in the cloud.
When the entries in the local auto-complete cache become "stale" the following may happen:
Emails to affected recipients can bounce back.
Emails to distribution groups containing members which have stale auto-complete entries can bounce back.
On occasion no NDR is even generated (BIG PROBLEM).
As noted above, we've gotten Microsoft to admit that this is indeed a problem with Outlook when combined with Exchange Online. I was told that the Outlook product team has been notified of this problem.  However, in order to escalate this issue I was
asked to spread the word to other customers so they can also chime in if they've been affected.
Please supply your feedback to Microsoft and ask that Outlook be enhanced to either reconcile the local auto-complete list with the online GAL, or provide some sort of notification to the user that an auto-complete entry has become "stale" or invalid.
    Thanks for everyone's time!

    Hi,
There is nothing called as Outlook's local nick-name cache. This resides on the mailbox and not outlook and supports only 1000 entries only. If the entries exceeds 1000 it will not function correctly.
After the .nk2 file has been imported into your mailbox, Outlook writes a value into a hidden message in your mailbox.
To locate this property in MFCMAPI, open the
Associated Contents table of the Contacts folder. Then, select the message with
    Subject = IPM.Configuration.ContactPrefs.
Then, double-click the PR_ROAMING_DICTIONARY property to see the configuration setting nickname cache import. The value to examine is
pImportedContactNickNames (True = the import has already occurred).
Since you are facing issues at this point of time, it needs to be corrected. I would appreciate if you can open phone support case with O 365 team and ask them to escalate to Exchange Level , we should be able to work with
    you and correct the issue
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Aggregation growing more than expected

    Hi All,
I have loaded the cube with data and it takes up 37 GB. I ran aggregation on the cube. See following statement.
    execute aggregate process on database "APP123"."DATA123" stopping when total_size exceeds 1.5;
I expected the cube to grow to about 55 GB (Considering aggregation factor of 1.5) but the cube grew to 117 GB.
My understanding is that since I set the factor at 1.5 the cube should aggregate until it reaches 55 GB and then stop. Any reason why its growing to 117 GB. Any help/pointers are appreciated.
    Thanks

I'm also seeing this behavior in several cubes I've created. I have an SR open and have spent a significant amount of time conversing with developers. The problem is the estimation algorithm. Essbase needs to have some estimate of each view size to determine what will fit inside the space indicated by your stop value, but for cubes of a significant enough size, and with a skewed distribution (certain outline members associated with much more data than others) the estimation Essbase comes up with can be wildly off.
There are 1 or more views that Essbase is building that are a significant percent of the overall level-0 data size.
The only work-around is to look at the generated views and to manually remove those from the .csc file that are too large. There is no way to see what the size of the aggregate actually is (even after the build if you query for the size it's still an estimate), so you'll need to build the aggregates one at a time to figure out which ones are too big.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • How to share iMovie 10 to iDVD

I'm now unable to Share to iDVD.
This is a problem as I need to burn to DVD for our Church members to watch on their DVD players at home as well as the
local cable TV channel to also play our DVD on-air.
    help?

    Hi,
perhaps not as slick as before (and assuming you are on the latest version of iDVD) it still seems possible to get your movies into iDVD from the lastest iteration of iMovie
    either by
sharing your finished work to the theatre, then
    opening iDVD
    creating a new project
clicking the plus sign and selecting add movie
dragging your movie from the theatre to the placeholder created
    OR
share your movie to a file and save in your movies folder
open iDVD and select 'Magic iDVD'
click on the Movies tab - Ignore the iMovie list and then select your film(s) from the dropdown list within movies and drag into the area that says 'drop movies here'
both methods have worked for me for a movie created using the new version of iMovie.
    Hope this helps

  • Fast-Forward/Skippy Playback for long clips imported to PP

    Hello all.
Normally, I try to avoid help forums, and figure out problems myself, however, this time, I cannot for the life of me understand what is going on. To give you the whole story:
I'm putting together a video for my church. In this video, are clips of short interviews with church members (roughly 15 sec - 1 min long) with 4 2-hour long videos time-lapsed at 7000% each. The videos were shot using a JVC HDD camera, and I had to convert the videos to .AVI from .MOV so PP could use them. After converting all of the files, I checked each one using WMP to make sure it still looked good and wasn't squished or anything. Then, I started by importing the short interviews into PP.
Those came in fine. I was able to take each one, edit it the way I wanted it, and line it up on the timeline with the others. My problems started however with my first 2-hour time-lapse video.
I noticed that before dropping it on the timeline, playback in the 1st monitor was choppy, "fast-forwarded", but the audio was fine. I dropped it into the timeline, and went ahead and unlinked the video and audio to get rid of the audio, but the video itself was still choppy. In fact, the video would only take about 2 minutes to "finish" playing even though it was only 2 minutes into the 2 hour-long clip, and I could see that on the timeline. Since I didn't require editing on these time-lapse clips, and I was just dropping them next to each other, I went ahead and changed the speed to 7000%, and proceeded to do the same for the next 3 long clips. I figured rendering would clear up the problems, but seeing it was going to take 12 or so hours to render, I decided I better try here before I wasted 12 hours only to not have a usable video.
Again, the time-lapse videos do not require editing...I merely need them to play at 7000% speed. However, now, I am having a problem with another clip. This clip is roughly 13 minutes long, and it is giving me the same problems as the 2-hour clips. The video fast-forwards, then freezes, then skips, and the audio is just fine in the background.
I am running Windows Vista 64-bit, a Dual-core processor, 4GBs of RAM, and an NVIDIA 8800gt Superclocked Edition graphics card. Besides the processor being lack-luster, I feel as though my computer is adequate enough to handle what I am doing...so it must be a problem with...well, what -I- am trying to do.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
    -Haden

Oh, believe me, I'm not using this camera by choice...I do not have one of my own, and on short notice, this is all I had to work with. After this project, however, the church will be purchasing one of the nice Sony MiniDV cams (I can't remember the "series" number or style, but I used them in high school during film-editing class a few years back...the silver Sony cams with the widescreen lens and more "professional" look...you know, the $3000 ones...). I've already requested, lol...
Anyway, thanks for your help, Mr. Simon. What format do you feel would be suited best for this conversion? I want to keep it around the same file size...maybe from .MOD to .mpg (MPEG2)? I'm already trying that as we speak, but to save me some time...mind recommending a format? This thing has to be exported to a .avi file and on my thumbdrive ready by 7am EST...and it's 9:13pm EST now...
