Diverting an online number

Hi,
I work with an arts company that spends 5 months of the year on tour - at the moment we change phone numbers every few weeks, which makes it difficult/confusing for performers to get a hold of us in emergencies. I was just wondering if there is a way to set up an online number that we could easily divert to the office land line of whichever theatre we are in at the time, and what the costs involved would be with that sort of set up?

Vocabulary check: when you say "divert," I interpret that as "forward." Are we referring to the same thing?
If yes, an on-line number can be forwarded to a fixed or land line or mobile number. Calls answered by voice mail could also be transferred to SpinVox and sent to a mobile phone as a text message. Depending upon the quality of the voice mail recording, I find SpinVox does the job well enough so I can interpret the message.
What steps are required to forward calls may be easy to me, you may find those same steps onerous. So you can make an informed decision, here are links to more information:

I need to get a Skype Online Number to Japan. and I need to divert that call to Sri Lankan Mobile phone. I will pay for the charges which occurs in forwarding.
Also if above cannot be done, as an example : If a person from some other country call my Online Number in Japan, can i anser this call using skype. Thanks

If you are a resident of Japan, you can get a Japanese Online Number from Skype. Once you have that, you can have calls to that number - or any call to your Skype account from other Skype users - forwarded to the Sri Lankan mobile phone. You will need to purchase Skype Credit to cover the cost of those calls out to the Sri Lankan number.
If a person from some other country call my Online Number in Japan, can i anser this call using skype.
Even if you have call-forwarding enabled, you can still answer calls when you are logged into Skype. Then you are not having to pay for the cost of calls forwarded to that Sri Lankan mobile number, for example.

Online number has not been available

For the past couple of days my online number is not available. There is an automated voice saying that there is a high volume of calls to this number or that the number is busy ....
Any suggestion?

The BT line test will not show a fault, because your real line would be connected to someone else.
An Openreach Field Technician will be needed to fix the fault, but its going to be external to your house, unless you have more that one line, and you are plugged into the wrong one.
This can happen if someone had a cable service, which would end up with two phone master sockets.

I am going to guess you were diverted here to the Community in your attempt to contact Skype Customer Service directly to report this problem, which ultimately must happen so Skype can check the number and run diagnostics.
Skype is aware of existing problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents. If you experience difficulty contacting Skype Customer Service or find yourself again redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and - important! - choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.
All that said, it may take several attempts before you reach an agent, however people are getting through.

Calling online number but get message to buy numbe...

We have recenty set up an online number and have diverted our normal telephone line to this number, however we get the message about if you want to buy the line. Any ideas what is wrong?
We also have skype credit on the account, and the phone is set to online with the option of going to voice mail.

Incoming online number / Skype-to-Skype connection...

Whever I get an incoming call I frantically click on the green button but I can never connect. I have divert to my mobile and the caller waits perhaps only three times in ten for the diverted call to connect. Firstly that is costing me money and secondly I am missing calls from anything with a withheld number (which is usually someone trying to sell me something.
I have no problem making outgoing calls.
Any ideas and suggestions anyone please?
I am running Windows 7 with 4Gb RAM. I am using the computer's built-in speakers.

Hi there, I have just registered for an online number and activated call forwarding but my problem is i cannot transfer calls to different users even though the option is available for me to add the number and transfer the call.

With Online Numbers, receiving calls on them using Skype is free. You would only have to purchase Skype Credit or a subscription if you used Call Forwarding to divert calls to a telephone number.
If you purchase a UK Online Number, calls from them to your Online Number would be billed the same way as calling a non-Skype landline number in the same area. It may be a local call, or - at most - a domestic long-distance call in the UK. This sounds like the better way to go, as those UK contacts would have to pay for an international call if you had a Mexican Online Number for them to ring you on. Again, it would cost you nothing to receive the call in Skype, but callers would pay whatever their telephone carrier charges to make a call to that location.
Now if you had people in Mexico who also needed to reach you via telephone, you could purchase a UK and a Mexican Online Number. You can have up to 10 Online Numbers on a single Skype account. I have numbers in these two countries, along with the USA and Australia. Then people in those countries are either making a local call (possibly a free local call) or no worse than a domestic long-distance call to reach me. Or they can use Skype, and it would be a free call on both ends.

Me and my dad share the same online number for friends and colleagues to call us, but it seems that the calls that come through to me are ad-hoc whilst my dad gets every call on his system. I just wondered if this is because 2 systems are trying to access the same online number?

It's not possible to transfer products from one account to another. But you can request a refund and purchase a new number for the correct account.

I have an online skype Uk number but in the last couple of days people have told me they get a message saying to say it is not a valid number. I tried myself calling my UK online number from Italy and got a message to say the area code is not valid (0115 code)
Can someone tell me what's happening to my online number?
Can someone give an email address to contact customer service to resolve this issue, (please don't give me the usual links to skype FAQ that lead to nothing, even going through all the rubbish when I actaully type in the query it doesn't give me an option to submit the email) as I have paid for an online number that as far as I am aware is still a valid as I have received no notification that is due to expire. Is there any way to fix this? My online number works because I recently paid for it and it expires May 20.
I know the number works because when I call myself, it rings but displays the "unkown number" problem.

If caller ID isn’t displaying, it’s possible caller ID isn’t supported by the local telecommunication provider for the country you are calling. Caller ID is passed along with a call, from Skype through the local telephone companies, up to the mobile or landline number you dialled. If one of the links in the chain does not support caller ID properly, a default number or no number at all will be displayed instead. In most countries, caller ID is supported by the local providers and the number should display as normal. However, there are a few countries where caller ID can be less reliable or it does not work at all.

Please escalate this issue. In the UK, BT has 15.8 million landline customers. Sype Online Number in the UK is useless for business until Caller ID works.

It is possible that the Caller ID settings got wiped out when you extended your Online Number. This is, unfortunately, something other users have reported. I'm sorry it happened to you.
To reset your Caller ID settings, log into your Skype account here on the Skype web site. Use the "Account" link at the top of this page, and enter your Skype name and password. Then you can access your Caller ID settings, and select your Online Number to - once again - be your Caller ID.
