DIVX,AVI,3PG.MP4 Player.... I LOVE THIS APP!!!!!

I was looking for a Divx and Avi player and I was amazed of what I found, there is a app called RockPlayer that is a BETA release that is a incredible app and I was surprised that this player hasn't been spoke of more on any of the forums... I read a report saying it was on Market but when I searched I couldn't find it but I did end up finding the developer site that has a download link for the apk but I was hoping that it went full version because it plays my divx, avi and almost anything I throw at it flawlessly and has clear interface... I really hope that this app will go the yards because I can see using this as my full time app.
If you want to check it out, look at www.diffthink.com • View topic - RockPlayer first public BETA release

Downloaded, can't wait to try it! Here is a better link for the download (sorry, yours confused me) http://rockplayer.freecoder.org/index_en.html Don't use the market link, it's not there. If you're not sure which version, there is an app to tell you in the market, just search for rockplayer (no space).
Thanks for the link, I did not think to check link and realized later that it did not link directly to the page it was intended for, and I could not post a direct download link because of the forums rules... Sorry for the mix up, thanks again for a diffrent link

The planned purchase price of $9.99 seems a little steep for a media player...
I understand where you are coming from on the price.... but its still in beta and price can modify before full realease.  I really wouldnt have a issue paying for this app and supporting the developer because getting access to the system to allow such a cross platform list of formats supported isnt the easiestthing to do, this is why so many other players havent haent made their apps support so many formats so many formats.  In my opinion this is the Android  TCPMP player, I love that app on my WM device and I can see myself supporting this development further.
Sane me time having to refilter everytime, I can drop on card and go with this player..

  • Love this app! Really looking to see it grow.

I'd like to be able to integrate it with some agile online services like Assembla or Unfuddle.
Also want to be able to add non-adobe apps to the tools list.
Additionally, linking milestones and files/deliverables would be pretty fantastic. This would allow you use the workflow labs as not just a planning app, but as a live project management tool
Beyond just tools and annotations, perhaps it would be good to be able to add skillsets and even resources (personnel) to the workflow.
Additionally, links to indevelopment URLs and prototype launchers would be pretty awesome.
We definitely need to be able to output the workflow as a PDF, share it in a Connect session and print it!
    Very nice work so far!

Hi there...Thanks for the excellent comments. We are working on adding third-party application support, in addition to tying that feature to other areas that you are requesting.
We hope to have another version out before the end of the year -- Stay tuned!

  • Converting .avi to .mp4: No audio

I am trying to convert an avi to mp4 so I can play it on my ipod. I only plan on doing this 1 file so it makes no sense for me to purchase Quicktime Pro or VisualHub, so my options are iSquint and MPEG Streamclip.
After trying within iSquint, the conversion works but the quality of the mp4 file is almost unwatchable.
I then tried it in MPEG Streamclip but this is where my problem begins. No matter what I do I can't get audio on any output file. The avi file plays normally in Quicktime and VLC, but I've noticed that in the player in Streamclip there is no audio.
Even exporting to other output files gives no relief either.
I've looked at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1616285&tstart=0 that addresses a similar problem but don't see anything to help my specific situation.
    Some possible useful info:
    ~/Library/Quicktime contains -
    AppleIntermediateCodec.component
    AppleMPEG2Codec.component
    DivXDecoder.component
    DivXEncoder.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Advanced.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Export.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Import.component
(note the first 3 file have a white lego block as their icon, the second 3 have a white page as their icon.)
When playing the file in Quicktime the Quicktime Movie Inspector gives this info:
    NMP1.avi
    DivX
    Format: DivX 6.0, 608 x 246, Unknown MPEG Layer 3, Stereo, 44.100 kHz
    FPS: 23.98
    Data Rate: 708.03 kbits/s
    Normal Size: 608 x 246 pixels
    Current Size: 608 x 246 (Actual)
While the file is in the MPEG Streamclip player the Stream Info displays
    Bit Rate: 0.75 Mbps
    Video Tracks:
    DivX 5.0, 608 × 246, 23.976 fps, 634 kbps
    Audio Tracks:
MPEG Layer-3 Audio stereo, 44.1 kHz, 112 kbps
    Stream Files:
    NMP1.avi (790.21 MB)
Does anyone know what is causing this problem and/ or know how to fix it?
    Running 10.5.4 on Macbook 2.16GHz C2D 2GB
    Quicktime Player v7.5
    MPEG Streamclip v1.9.1

    thanks, b.
(ps I didn't know which section to put this thread under so went with Quicktime as a safe bet.)

    Thanks for replying guys.
I tried what you suggested Ricktoronto on a small test file and it worked!
You've made my day, been trying for a couple of days to get this to work.
Is it ok to delete those DivX files from my mac now? I have the DivX player still installed, that won't crash if I delete those files, will it?
    Many thanks, much appreciated.

  • Avi vs mp4

    Hi,
I experience very big file size difference rendering to avi or mp4.
I always believed avi files would be smaller than mp4 my adobe premiere 10  gives other result. Am I doing something wrong here? And what are the pros and cons to avi or mp4?
    Thanks for replying,
    Koen

In addition to what Steve and John have offered, the two main determinants of AV file size are:
    Duration
    Bit-Rate
The CODEC used has a little effect, but mostly they allow for the data to be compressed, yet still leave acceptable quality. The lower the Bit-Rate, the lower the quality, but also the smaller the file.
Where CODEC's differ is by the allowable compression of the data, coupled with the acceptable quality. Some are better at the compression, than are others. The H.264 CODEC, usually found in MP4 wrappers, is very good at giving one acceptable quality, but still compressing with lower Bit-Rates.
Many of the CODEC's, commonly found in the AVI wrapper, are not quite so good, so to get the higher quality (read higher Bit-Rate), the files' sizes WILL be larger. One exception is the DivX CODEC, which does yield good quality, and lower Bit-Rates, and can compress the data very well. However, this CODEC is designed for delivery of streaming media, and is NOT meant to be edited later.
Editability is a big plus for the H.264 CODEC, and that is why it is used in so many HD formats, like AVCHD (a sub-set of H.264), today.
However, and with all of that said, there are major variations in H.264, so there are few universal specs. With DV-AVI, a particular CODEC, in the AVI wrapper, things are much simpler - the MicroSoft DV CODEC is standard, and uses low-compression, and higher Bit-Rates, to keep quality high, but at the sacrifice of file size.
There ARE a few CODEC's, usually wrapped as an AVI, like Lagarith Lossless and UT Lossless, that maintain lossless qualtiy, while still doing a good job at compression, but no where near as good, as most versions of H.264 - however, and just as their names imply, they are "visually" lossless - great quality, though at higher Bit-Rates and with larger file sizes, than most versions of H.264. For intermediate files, that will be edited later, I rely heavily on both of those lossless CODEC's. With the proper CODEC's installed, they both edit very, very well too. Also, one can do many generations of Encoding, without a noticeable loss in quality, where that is not true with H.264, where the compression will show an accumulation of a loss in quality, because of the high compression.
    Hope that helps,
    Hunt

  • N95 or mp4 player

sorry if this is a daft question...
I have an n95 and have been looking at buying an mp4 player, but then I wondered if I could use the phone instead. At present I only view videos that I have recorded... could I use it to play downloaded videos and films? I have a 4gb card, so if the film was longer I could get more cards and split it perhaps... would that work? and what format should the videos be in to play on my n95?
    Thanks for any help. Moose.

Again Nokia supplies 3 options that are free:
The Nokia Multimedia Player that comes with PC Suite. Just open a video file then choose Save As... and it will convert depending on the settings you select.
    Nokia Video Manager
Just use the Bar Code Scanner. Anyway it's here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/videos
It's free and very simple to use.
Lastly you can register to Forum Nokia and download the Nokia Multimedia Converter.
Then there are 1000's of encoders you can get for free or buy. SUPER is good.
ANYVIDEOCONVERTER is good. And free as well. http://www.any-video-converter.com/download/ download the free version.
If you like to play Divx or xVid go to http://mobile.divx.com and download the player from there.
Bottom line is, you don't need an MP4 player if you already have an N95
640K Should be enough for everybody

  • How can i copy a playlist from itunes to a mp4 player without loosing the order of the tracks in the playlist?

    Hello again,
I'm having problems transfering the playlists i've created from itunes to a mp4 player. It's not an ipod, and everytime i try to do this operation, the songs show up not by the order in the playlist but by alphabetical order. Is there any way to copy the playlist without loosing the order of the songs and directly, - i mean, without having to copy song by song to a folder in the mp4 player -, like it happens with the ipod? If so, how?
    Thank you for your time.

I would consult the documentation of the mp4 player then.

  • Can't export to DivX AVI

I am using a product called EyeTV to encode television programs onto my MAC. Afterwards I am given the option of compression. One of those options is DivX AVI. When I choose this I get the following error:
"The currently installed DivX AVI component is unsupported (6.0.5).
Please visit http://www.divx.com for the latest update."
I already have DivX installed. Why can't I export to DivX. Would upgrading to DivX Pro solve this?

I already have DivX installed. Why can't I export to DivX. Would upgrading to DivX Pro solve this?
More than likely the EyeTV option searches for the DivX 6 encoder (which, as you postulated, is a separate component included with DivX Pro) to perform the actual encoding of the file and found your limited free trial period had elapsed.

  • Ffmpeg avi to mp4 issues

I'm trying to convert a video (Choke) from avi to mp4 format so that I can put it on my old 5G ipod video.
    ffmpeg -i /home/wes/Videos/Choke/Choke.avi -s qvga /homa/wes/Videos/Choke/Choke.mp4
    returns
    [mpeg4 @ 0x83580a0]timebase not supported by mpeg 4 standard
Error while opening codec for output stream #0.0 - maybe incorrect parameters such as bit_rate, rate, width or height
I thought that should work, but I've been wrong before so I look around the wiki and the aur.  I tried furiusconverter from the AUR and got similar errors. Avidemux doesn't work either. I'm getting really frustrated since from what I understand this should be working flawlessly. So I turn to the wiki and I find some code:
    ffmpeg -vcodec xvid -b 300 -qmin 3 -qmax 5 -bufsize 4096 \
    -g 300 -acodec aac -ab 96 -i INPUT -s 320x240 \
    -aspect 4:3 output.mp4
I got some errors pertaining to the bit rate that went away when I changed "-b 300" to "-b 300k" and "-ab 96" to "-ab 96k".  There were also problems with "-vcodec" and how "xvid" was not recognized so I just got rid of "-vcodec xvid" but then I got the first error I posted.
The wiki also had this to offer: http://thomer.com/howtos/mp4ize
but after making it into "Converter.sh" and chmodding it (777) and running it I got another error.  This error may have something to do with my not having Ruby installed but I think I do so it shouldn't be a problem.
Does anyone know if I'm doing something wrong, how I can fix it, or any bit of wisdom?
    On the fringe,
    --Wes
    EDIT:
So I installed Ruby (stupid of me not to check) and tried the code in the link above again. It seems like it's working and we'll see in a while if it did or not, but I'm still really curious why ffmpeg isn't working for me.  Can some one please tell me what I'm doing wrong with ffmpeg so that I don't have to keep using this homebrewed script?

i'd try it as simply ffmpeg -i file.avi file.mp4 and see if it works.  maybe that size is just not supported by mp4

  • QT 7.5.5 AVI to MP4?

    Hello
I have converted a AVI to MP4 via QT and there's no sound at all after conversion and why is this?
Do I just go back and use VH as usual or is there a way around this
    Thanks

What was the audio codec (and video for that matter) in the source file? DO you have Perian installed? If not a good idea.

  • AVI to MP4 - retaining original quality.

I am converting old (1999/2000)  avi files to MP4 output.
    I'm using CS6.
What is the best export setting to do this.  The original recordings were onto DV Tape. The AVI files were outputs from Premiere v5 , 5.5 or 6 (years ago)
I've noticed that using H.264 DV PAL  export (which retains the origonal 6:4 ratio')  seems to reduce a 1Gb AVI file down to only 105Mb MP4 file.
Does this sound correct. I dont want to lose any quality.
I want to keep as much quality from the original as possible.... file size isnt a concern.
Gspot shows original aVI as having 945Mb of video , 50Mb Audio  using "dvsd" codec.  see below.
    Anyone have any guidance ?
Or does the above seem reasonable.
    Many thanks

HI folks.. Thanks all for the guidance.
The x264Q18 HQ seems to take a few mins per Gig of the original old AVI file to encode, and appears to give far clearer definition than the original.
In terms of filesize, it reduced to about 22% of the original. I'm using AAC VBR @ 0.35 for Audio.  Seems to be as clean as sound.
Interestingly, choosing "copy" for Audio fails.
I also tried x264 HQS sestting. That takes an age to encode, reduces more and gives no significant improvement in quality over HQ.
I remain unable to find an AVI codec to select that will play on the Smart TV (Samsung f8500).  Manual lists a few but cannot find anobvious 'match' in adobe or XviD4PSP s/ware.  Will keep exploring that one... but not sure I need it now.

  • Importing avi and mp4 files into iPhoto

I just finished importing my PC photo library into iPhoto and I ran into a snag.
iPhoto does not import video files in *.avi or *mp4 format.
On my old PC photo library, I have video clips taken into mostly avi format with older digital cameras, and which are stored in the same photo directories by date. When I realized that I could not sync avi files to my iOS devices, I used a conversion program to convert the the avi files to mp4 format, and was able to sync these to my iOS devices.
Now apparently iPhoto does not recognize these mp4 files. I would like to have my video clips in iPhoto so that I can sync them as needed to my iOS devices through iTunes and also sometimes use them for video editing in iMovie. Within iMovie, I see where there is a link to the iPhoto video library... so somehow I have to get these into a format recognized by iPhoto.
Can anyone recommend a method that will accomplish this? I assume I will have to convert the avi/mp4 files to some other format. Is there a utility that will extract out the video files from my hundreds of photo directories and let me convert them to the accepted format by iPhoto, preferably keeping the time/date stamp intact?

Check over on MacUpdate for file converters.

  • Stitching together AVI or MP4 files

Does anyone know of any programs that will allow you to stitch together several avi or mp4 video files?
Meaning allowing one to play right after the other.
    Thanks.

Can you drag all of the file to iMovie and make a sequence out of it? And save as QT after that?
    Try this one:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/visualhub.html
And you can burn to DVD after it done encoding those files.
I found it worth every penny I spend on it.

  • Viewing mov, avi, and mp4 files in photoshop 12

How can I view mov, mp4, and avi files in Photoshop 12?

thanks for your reply Tom. the video is from cameras, video cameras, vhs tapes, and mini dvds. everything looks much worse after import into fcpx;  i haven't imported hd files. The specs. are, everything gets blurry and color pales.  i just tried importing four more files (and optimized), all mov, (no avi or mp4), and there is no change in quality. I'm comparing the video in fcpx to the same video before it was imported. i've compared it side by side to the files being played in quicktime, real player, idvd, and el gato eye tv (third party video capture software). everything is crisp and color is vibrant before going into fcpx.
