  • What is unique about online streaming of pbs video that causes it to stop to load the buffer every 40 seconds

What is unique about PBS videos that results in the play stopping every 40 seconds to refill the buffer (ie the round circle appears)
I have no trouble viewing hulu movies or ytube videos.  Is there a way of correcting this problem ?
I have a ATT DSL with download  speed of 768kb.

Could be a number of things, but the most obvious guess would be that PBS has relatively narrow bandwidth. The people in Congress who think that Masterpiece Theater is intellectual sedition and Sesame Street is a communist plot to indoctrinate our children have been strangling PBS's cash flow since sometime the early '80s.
Unfortunately, the aesthete voting block doesn't have a particularly big political voice in the US (as though it has a big political voice anywhere).  We'll just have to continue trading our carefully hoarded recordings of 'good' television programs in secret.

  • Online Streaming Authentication issues with Chrome

I get caught in a never ending login loop when I try to authenticate with my Verizon ID for online streaming services such as stream.nbcsports.com/liveextra, stream.golfchannel.com, nflonline.nfl.com, etc.  Others have reported the same issue with showtime's online streaming service.  I have cookies enabled and I continue to get caught in login loops when I'm using Chrome.  I do not have the same issue with Internet explorer or Mozilla Firefox.  This has been reported before but it doesn't seem to be a high priority.  Please fix this issue ASAP.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Looks like its an issue with the built in "Pepper" Flash player in Chrome.  I disabled the built in Chrome flash player and enabled the system flash player and all my authentication issues have gone away on Chrome.  WatchESPN, NBC Sports Live Extra, Watch NFL Network all work now.
Verizon...please work with Google on a permanent fix for this!!!

  • DVD Player MKVs and Online Streaming keeps on freezing

    Hello all,
So my problem is like this, I got my MBP Mid 2010 in May and I started to have problems a couple months ago. Every time Im watching a DVD with DVD Player or watch an Online Streamed Video, every two minutes, the video freezes for like a second then keeps going like nothing happened. I have no problem when watching most DIVX but some of them, that I know don't have any problem, show the same problem.
I also have that problem with every MKVs I play. Thing is I know those files are fine cause they played without any problem on my Windows XP 2.4 C2D PC with 4GB. Worst thing is when I try to move the mouse or change space while playing them; The MBP is extremely slow like, the status bar is slow to appear, same thing with spaces and the video stops. Its pretty much like when Im running a disk check.
The console doesn't show anything, I tried running the MKVs or DVDs with Fans' speed at maximum (via iStat), made sur my Nvidia GT 330M is running via GFXCardStatus, repair permissions, check disk, disable Sophos, restart, and nothing seems to fix the problem.
Now, Am I looking at the problem with the my graphic card or a problem with my HD (Knowing that I got the HD changed after a failure) ?
    Thanks

  • HELP!!  I cant find an answer anywhere...  Stream issue

I've been trying to stream these two videos from my itunes to my appletv. I've never had a problem before and every other video I've tried today streams and syncs with no issue. These two videos both show up under my movies on itunes but I cant get them to show up on the appletv. The only thing i can think of is that these two vids are the biggest size of all my other videos, one is 650 mb, and the other is 1.8 gb, they are both MP4 and play fine in itunes. whats the problem?

    size isn't the issue.
it could be that the 2 videos are not appletv compatible (just because they are in itunes does not mean they are appletv compatible).
play 1 of them in quicktime and open "movie inspector". post the results and we can advise if they are compatible or not.

  • Major streaming issue!

    Hey Guys,
I am having major streaming issues with my Macbook and Apple TV. Here is a detailed overview of my setup.
    Netgear 802.11G Router
    SSID off
    WEP 128 Bit hex key
    DHCP
    Wireless devices
    Powerbook G4
    Macbook
    Apple TV
    iPod Touch
    XP laptop
    Wired device
    XP desktop
All these devices are able to access the wireless network fine - and have no problem connecting to the internet.
Apple TV is running SW 2.0 - I don't know if the same issue would have occurred in SW 1.0 as I did the SW upgrade on it straight away (getting close to a system reset though)
I am able to see the Apple TV in iTunes 7.6 and have all the details of my Apple TV.
When I try to play any of "my movies" I sometimes get an error saying can't recognize file type or something along those lines - or it just gets stuck on a black screen with the buffering "spinning gear" winding till the Apple TV goes in to the screen saver.
I tried on many different resolutions but it did not fix the issue.
The same thing happens with TV Shows and Podcasts - haven't tried YouTube just yet.
I am able to play movie trailers though both standard definition and high definition.
Another thing to mention is the load up of the Apple TV is very jittering and stutters.
The thing that makes me wonder is I ran it on another Netgear G router network earlier today and everything went fine - and I was able to playback videos that I am not able to do now - which kind of makes me look at the network - but the fact that HD trailers load almost instantly and play fine makes me think perhaps Apple TV? The fact it doesn't load smoothly concerns me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just removed Apple TV from iTunes and cleared an connections in "Computer" tab of Apple TV and reset everything - still the same issue.
Apple TV loads very jittery and it doesn't load video files to playback - but it does playback music and movie trailers. I am guessing it has no problems with the trailers as that is not something that gets accessed via the Macbook. Really starting to think this could be a bandwidth issue know, just weird that it was all hunky dory on another G network! Besides all my laptops get full reception where the Apple TV is situated and I can't think of any interference in the position that it is in.
Any other ideas people - don't want to have to shell out for a base station just right now.

  • Rtmp streaming on demand video on my website problem

I set up my ams server to stream ondemand rtmp video to stream on server all is well on that side but cant get it to stream to my website need some help please.

It is hard to say why it is not working but here are couple of things you can try:
    - check if swf verfication is incorrectly configured Adobe Media Server 5.0.3 * Configuring security features
    - check your port configurations to verify if RTMP port 1935 is open. RTMP by default uses port 1935. Refer to Troubleshooting connection issues with Adobe Media Server | Adobe Developer Connection, and Ports and firewalls | Flash Media Server

  • Operating Windows 7 Home Premium, 2 user accounts. Running Firefox one user can stream audio and video, the other cannot. Can anyone help?

Two accounts set up. One can stream audio and video using Firefox, the other account cannot. The account with cannot stream a/v is able to steam a/v using (gasp) MS Internet Explorer. Is there some setting I have screwed up?

There are some compatibility issues between the latest Flash player and some Firefox add-ons or settings. Could you see whether anything in this article helps: [[Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox]].

  • YouTube streaming issues

Is anyone else having YouTube streaming issues? I can only get about 5-10 seconds of video to play. Then if I try to restart the video it doesn't play at all. It's been this way for a couple of days now. It doesn't matter which wifi network I'm on either. I read the videos are going through an Apple proxy server so I wonder if the server is having issues since it used to work just fine.
I have a new 8GB 3g touch with about 1.5 GB of free space. All other Internet apps work fine.
-posted from my touch using Safari.
    Dan

Restored and setup as a brand new iPad - same issue.
    Likely the app itself,
Other apps such as twitch.tv / Air video HD etc stream without issue (even with the screen auto locking
I'll bring this up with Google.

  • Streaming Live Broadcast Video, help!

I was going to use Media Encoder to generate FLV files, and hoping to build an AIR app in Flash.
The end result is a very simple and basic app where you select between 4 or 5 streams of live video.
I'm talking basic beyond basic for the user. I've got a flash server and tons of bandwidth, and hoping
to do this in a 720x486 frame size. I'm down with the basics of Flash, but no experience in doing Air Apps.
Thoughts on the plan of attack?

i would suggest in buying/trying Flex Builder 3
Air has never been simpler, once you master the GUI of flex, you can create your applications in air/web alike with ease.
I myself use flex builder daily for my needs, it takes some getting used to, but basically what you get with flex (unless youre already familiar) is a developer-friendly interface with a wysiwyg GUI editor, along with AS3 scripting functionality.
Thats the best bet, also, a book about Flex couldnt hurt, but there are tons of online resources available for this.
(as an example, i ported a quite complex people and content application i made for the web, into air, in about 2 minutes).

  • Issue with video playback

I'm having an issue where video playback drops to 1 frame per second or less. The problem occurs when I have the mouse on the same screen as the video (dual screen setup) or on the second screen.
As you can see in my information, I'm running an IBM Thinkpad T43 with a Viewsonic q20wb monitor.
    Thanks for the help!

Yes, I have just used the normal Video-object together with the normal trick to load Flash Video files with it. Nothing special only with a full URL for the play()-method. I have attached the source code for your convenience. The original files are edited in Premiere Pro CS4 and are based on one original ripped DVD vob file and a newly created Quicktime-based slideshow animation which has then be edited into one using Premiere.
After that I  have selected the sequence of the Premiere project which I have exported using File > Export which is using Adobe Media Encoder. For the encoding I haved used the Export Settings: "Format FLV | F4V", Codec On2 VP6 and then altered the video size and bitrate so that the file size gets smaller this is for the Alzheimer08.f4v file. The other file used the H.265 Web Medium profile with also the video size and bitrate modified after it got encoded and uploaded to my webserver.
The original files used by the Premiere Pro project are:
    VTS_01_1.dv
    Type: DV Stream
    File Size: 2.6 GB
    Image Size: 720x576
    Average Data Rate: 3.4 MB/Second
    Compressor: DV - PAL
    Quality: Normal (3.00)
    SLIDESHOW 2.mov
    Type: QuickTime Movie
    File Size: 3.2 GB
    Image Size: 720 x 576
    Average Data Rate: 3.4 MB/Second
    Compressor: DV - PAL
    Quality: Most (5.000)
Above information is obtained in Premiere Pro by selected Properties-option of the submenu when selecting the file.
Hopefully you can use this information but I could upload the original Premiere Pro project over the next few days. If you would be interested in it.

  • Streaming audio and video frequently freezes or becomes garbled.

Streaming audio and video frequently freezes or becomes garbled on my Macbook.  I do not have this problem with non streaming media such as iTunes or downloaded video.  The problem started six or eight months ago and has gradually become worse.  I don't know what to start checking.

I have some issues with this feature. I can play all the media, however, I can only hear sound for a few secondsbut no images; then freezes.
    Format: xvid (.avi)
OS: Windows Vista home premium X64 (WMP 11)
Does anyone has the same problem or a fix?

  • RV016 Youtube/streaming issue

    Hey,
I am trying to limit the bandwidth used by people streaming and watching videos all day. The big issue sites are youtube and netflix. I have tried implimenting a bandwidth rule by adding a maximum downstream rule of 100kbps to port 554. But that does not seem to be working. Initially i tried this approach to port 1935, but that just capped everything and slowed the internet.
The big issue with this problem is i need to have some computers not effected by the bandwidth cap and i cannot block it outright.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your help. I am trying to test this solution on a single pc but when i enter a specific ip of just a single computer it appears to be effecting a lot more than just the one. Here is a screenshot of what i have.
The only difference i can think of is im using firmware v4.2.1.02
EDIT: when i enable this rule is what i mean.
Is this a bug in the firmware at all? It should not be effecting multipe people on the network. I tried making the bandwidth rule for only:
192.168.0.187 - 192.168.0.187 - this effects more than just the single pc
192.168.0.186 - 192.168.0.187 - this effecnts more than just the two.
when i add these rules it effects computers on the network including ones with ip of 151 or 067 etc. Am I implimenting this correctly, is this a known bug etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • Streaming issues MacBook Air -- Apple TV ?

    Hello everybody.
Does or did anyone of you eperience the same streaming issue with an macbook air mid 12 and an apple tv3?
Only streaming from this device, any other will work proper (such as iPhone4 , iPad 2, etc.).
    The issue is:
    - streaming aborted
    - after 30-45 mins of video streaming - video only
    - apple tv not reachable
    - apple tv has no internet connection / content, etc
    - macbook gets very hot in the top left corner (wifi module?)
    - no airplay, mirroring etc. works any more with the mentioned device
    - only restar of apple tv helps
Both devices are connected via the same WIFI/router. Network type (5GHz or what ever) is unknown due to the fact that I've forgotten my  router password. I thought this is where I am probably able to check some things... (I am soving my password stuff right now with my provider).
    so...any ideas?
forum search and google-it did not work (for me). open to any suggestions.
    many thanks in advance :-)

    Hey mathezmichal,
Congratulations on the purchase of your Apple TV.  The resources below will help you troubleshoot the issue you are having AirPlay, specifically streaming video from the MacBook Air.   Since YouTube is one of the channels on the Apple TV, I would suggest accessing the videos directly for that particular service.

  • No online stream on apple TV anymore: ready to play in "very long time!"

    Here is the story:
Everything was fine until two days ago (even after latest update). I have a wired apple TV and I could watch almost everything in reasonable time (2 to 10 minutes). But at some point from two days ago, I couldn't watch anything. It says ready to watch in "for example: 4 hour 35 minutes".) So I tried to fix it:
    1- restart
2- changes the Internet to wireless (it was helpful for two hour).
    3-reset
    4-downgrade to older version (5.0.2)
None of them fixes my problem. Still I cannot watch anything. There is no online streaming anymore. It's extremely frustrating. Youtube works just fine and network test on ATV3 is successful all the time!
    I appreciate any help.

What is your actual connection speed (www.speedtest.net)
Ensure you are using your ISPs DNS
To verify interference try istumbler.net or netstumbler
If you are comparing an iTunes rental to Youtube that is not a good judge. Youtube material is highly compressed. The network test on the unit is not really an accurate indicator of any issues that may be on your setup.
