DJ 6940 prints garbage in mid-document

I have a user with a DJ 6940 that suddenly will start printing garbage in the middle of a document. It used to do fine for the whole document. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the whole printer, but if anything it works worse. Any ideas aside from replacing the printer? It's connected to Windows XP via USB.

We also have a similar problem printing to a Brother MFC-8860DN Laser on a small home network.
On one Vista32 SP1 PC only, we are unable to correctly print PDF's to the Brother MFC-8860DN, but the same PC does print the same PDF correctly to a Lexmark C510 Colour Laser. This is the same with all PDF files (including ones that used to print correctly).
The problem we are having is that it appears all the writing is printed using symbols and foreign characters and not standard English letters (looks something like a wingdings font). However all the formatting, table outlines and pictures print fine. Choosing print as image from the setup dialog produces the same results.
This started about 2 months ago when we upgraded this PC to Acrobat Reader 8.2 (we have not done the others and they are still ok). We have since uninstalled both acrobat reader and the brother drivers, then re installed the latest versions of both of them.
We have also tried rolling back to an earlier version of Acrobat reader.
We have quite strong virus protection and have done scans with many packages and nothing has been found.
I can send a scan of a printout if it would help anyone track down the issue.

HP OfficeJet 7310 Prints Garbage via D-Link

I have an HP Officejet 7310xi All-in-One: The only way I can use all the functions and have it print correctly is having it directly connected to my computer. But when I connect it (USB) via my D-Link DPR 1260 wireless print server, which is wirelessly connected to my Airport Extreme, it prints garbage at the top of each page -- squishes everything up there, dropping lines.
For example, in MS Word, if I have two tables separated by three lines, the tables print one after the other. If I have various graphics, they squish to the top. This happens with PDF documents also, opened via Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. In addition, all the text in Excel spreadsheets cascades to the bottom roght of the cells, dropping text out of the cells.
Finally, it allows hardly any of the HP multifunctionality it's supposed to come with.
HP touts this as being a wireless-adaptable printer, so everything should work with my wireless setup. The D-Link is supposed to work with Macs also.
My HP LaserJet 1300 works fine wirelessly with this setup.
I have downloaded and installed all the latest HP drivers. Everything else is updated as well (latest Airport, D-Link etc.) I cycled everything, restarted everything, reset the printers, etc. etc. Spent at least 8 hours total on the phone wiht Apple, HP, and D-Link technicians.
Does anyone have a fix for any of this?
The one issue I've read that MAY be relevant relates to non-ASCII text messages being sent to the PS printers (an Adobe issue maybe?), but I can't find where to fix that with Word documents, if it's even the issue.
I'm aware that there are problems with multifunction printers and Leopard, but I have the latest Tiger.
Any help would be appreciated.

I would expect this is the case IF you use the HP wireless adapter for your printer.
The D-Link is supposed to work with Macs also.

Printing Garbage Characters

When a particular user prints a certain PDF the first page, which appears to be a form, prints mostly weird characters with some numbers mixed. If I log into the same machine under my login I can print it fine. My guess is that user has some setting set that is causing this issue. Any thoughts?

HP3015 Printing Garbage Characters

I have two printers, an HP j4580 (default) and a Brother mfc-7420 (now gives poor quality after a number of years of satisfactory use). I can usually print a single page PDF but if there are multiple pages, some or all of them print garbage. I have tried unloading and reloading the software without success. I have seen tips for similar issues but none of them address my set-up, for example the j4580 properties does not have a function allowing or not allowing the printer to choose fonts. I have also tried downloading files to disk before printing but this does not make any difference. I have read that versions of Reader prior to X are wide open to malware attack and although I preferred Reader 9 I am not happy about going back to it for this reason. HELP!

In total desperation I went back to 9.4.5 today after reader X gave me complete garbage on a ONE-PAGE document in very simple text only!!
I am still concerned that 9 does not have the answer to hostile hacking and nobody has put my mind at rest about that but I simply have to have a version which actually works and I don't trust smaller companies to have the answer if Adobe doesn't (call me naive).

Adobe Reader 9 prints garbage

When printing some PDFs, the text output is incorrect (any graphics are OK).
Each PRINTED text character is printed as the next ASCII character in sequence. As an example, the on-screen text "REGULAR" prints incorrectly as "SFHVMBS".
My environment: Windows XP Pro SP3 with all current (most recent) updates; Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13 with all current (most recent) updates; Canon printer PIXMA IP5000 with all current (most recent) updates; Acrobat Reader 9.0.0; Brother printer MFC420CN with all current (most recent) updates; The desktop PC has Dual Intel Pentium III 1000GHz processors and 512MBy RAM installed -- not seeing any errors in any other applications.
This error occurs when printing PDFs from 2 different, unrelated web sites. This error does not always occur. When the print error occurs, the second print request is good. The good printout occurs WITHOUT reloading the document.
All questions welcomed.

Having the same problem but fortunately I think I know WHEN this going to happen!
I've had opened 2 different PDF documents - the first one I just liked to read, the other one only to print.
Firstly I clicked printing in the second document while then going on reading in the other one.
Acrobat Reader 9 then printed exactly one page "useful text" - this might be because at the time of start printing I was still in this document, the rest was completely garbaged!
Maybe an effect might have also the circumstance that the printed docuemtn was only opened from web, not saved on disk!
Used Config:
Win XP with SP3 and latest updates/patches
Acrobat Reader 9
used with Mozilla Firefox 3.0.5 (latest version available)
and printed on a Canon Pixma 4600
p.s. after closing both docs, saving the one to print to disk, reopen it and then printing while staying inside the doc worked fine ^^

Embedded fonts still print garbage to any printer

I'm using Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.08 and even though I can't find anything wrong with the document or settings I'm using, I still can't print without getting font substitutions to garbage characters.
Preflight shows all fonts are embedded, but that they can't map to unicode.See example report below
Fonts are:
Type 1 font: "EX_CFF_Frutiger_LT_Std_45_Light"
Type 1 font: "EX_CFF_Frutiger_LT_Std_45_LightBold"
Type 1 font: "EX_CFF_Frutiger_LT_Std_55_Roman"
Type 1 font: "EX_CFF_Lucida_Console"
Type 1 font: "EX_CFF_USPS_Bar_Code"
Tried different printers as well as MS XPS Document Writer.
Tried all recommended things in the adobe web support docs.
Tried searching google and forums for solutions.
Tried rewriting the document.
Tried various preflight fixes.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I know this is an old thread, but I was just wondering if anyone knows a solution to this. I have an issue which seems similar...
I have a user that is having a problem printing some PDF files. Many print fine, but some print junk text... sometime the entire document and other times just part of the text. For example, on a document that prints incorrectly the word "Quotation" displays fine on the screen but prints out like this "œ´±¨ø¨∑±≤". It prints this way across every printer, including printing it back to a pdf file or to a Microsoft xps document. When other users on the network print the exact same document to the exact same printers (same driver) it prints out fine. Here's the steps I have taken so far:
- Completely uninstalled Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Reader and reinstalled both (and each one individually to see if that made any difference). One time I actually went though the registry and deleted every reference to Acrobat that I could find.
- Tried to print the document as an image.
- Verified all the printing and Acrobat settings against a machine that I know is working fine.
- Replaced as many Windows system fonts as I could.
I've been working on this for weeks and there are probably other things I have tried, but those are the ones I can think of right now. My next step is to just go onsite to the client, format the hard drive and start from scratch, but I'd really like to avoid doing that. If anyone could help me out with a solution, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Why does my printer sometimes print garbage when I am printing from Firefox?

All-in-One HP deskjet HP3050 J610 Series. When printing pages from Firefox browser, my printer occassionally prints garbage.

Garbled charates can be because of the communication issue. So try a different USB cable (new version)

How can I print ONLY the active document?

Whenever I go to File/Print the darn PSE 9 program sends all of the working files in the bin to the printer. I've searched online for 2 hours now looking for an answer.
I like to work with having several to many files in the 'bin' and prefer to only print the active file I'm currently working on without having to close the 'working files' before I can print. How can I print ONLY the active document or file in the project bin? Please help, I've upgraded from PSE 3 to PSE 9 and really like the updated features, but this one pain in the neck default is getting the best of me.

Photoshop CS3 printing garbage characters on HP LaserJet 1300

After installing CS3, Photoshop prints garbage characters on my HP LaserJet 1300.
Yes, I have tried printing as ASCII, ASCII85, Binary and JPEG - nothing helps (plus the settings won't stick even after holding down Alt and clicking the Remember button).
The only way to print right now is to choose Save as PDF in the print dialogue, open the PDF in Adobe Reader and print from there.
Any ideas?

tzw - I responded about this on another forum. I talked to technical support at Adobe about this exact issue about 2 months ago - can't print photoshop CS3 on any of my three HP printers. ( I have a HP1200, an HP 2550 and a HP photosmart 7660) (CS2 works fine) They worked with me for about an hour - called me back and worked some more, and then decided to send it up to the programmers (or engineers or whatever) The programmers called me and worked with me for another hour - trying different set-ups etc., but the conclusion by them was that this was a huge problem in that there were a lot of HP printers out there - that they were going to give this their top priority - and that there would be a fix for this soon. (I have yet to see a fix.)

Automatic print out of a document that is created via B1iSN

Can anybody tell me if it is possible to print out of a document (purchase invoice) automatically after it has been created via B1iSN?
Does anyone have an example or a link how to realize this?

we have a subsidiary A that does all the accounting and sales for subsidiary B (that works as a commercial unit). All goods that are sold in B are purchased in A. We have connected the two subsidiaries via B1i. A sales order in B automatically generates a purchase order that is send to A via B1i (B1PO2B1SO scenario). The invoice from A for these goods is send to B as a purchase invoice via B1i.
This purchase invoice ought to be printed out automatically as the staff and printers are in the same office.

Run MB02 transaction, enter material document number. Double click one line item and select messages. Separate screen will be opened to configure outputs. Give the required fields and save the document. Now Run MB90, you can take printout. Output Type: WE03 - Collective slip
Note:
Check following are some of steps for GR collective printing
1. Maintain the Printer Name in SPRO->Matl Mgmt->Inv Mgmt and Phy Inv->Print Control->Gen Settings->Printer Setting
2. Ensure that in SPRO->Matl Mgmt->Inv Mgmt and Phy Inv->Print Control->Gen Settings->Item Print Indicator, 1 stands for Matl Doc print out
3. In SPRO->Matl Mgmt->Inv Mgmt and Phy Inv->Print Control->Gen Settings->Print Version, maintain Print Version 2
4. In SPRO->Matl Mgmt->Inv Mgmt and Phy Inv->Print Control->Maintain Print Indicator for GI/Transfer Posting Documents

9. Now depending on the setting in 5a, the Matl doc is printed. If it is 3, you have to print it using MB90. If it is 4, it is printed immediately

You have to add the requirements in the print out form - smart form with the help of ABAPer. You can find this smat form in T code NACE - slect ME Invenotry management - Output type - WE03 - Go to processing routines - form name.

How can I print a whole email document and not a "screen shot" like I get in the Print Preview option. I'd like to print from "file" and print" like I can on other browsers (IE, for example). When I try to print from Firefox it grabs all my info (file folders, etc.) from the left side of the page. I need just the email information, not the entire screen information. Thank you!

I agree; I should, but I can't :) I have an orange Firefox drop down that I go to to print, and it allows me to select "print", "print preview" and "print setup", where I can change the margins. It always defaults to a full screen shot (I use Yahoo) and does not show just the email. I don't need to print what is on the left side of the screen or anything other than the email (I can achieve these things by using file-print from IE, so I know it is doable, and I am still going into Yahoo and using their email when I do it).
Hope this helps. I'm not a fan of IE, but I really don't like the print properties I'm getting here (I'm a long time Mozilla user, but I'm losing too much info with this option and can't afford that anymore).

Soution: Delete the printer and add the same printer back in, therefore creating a new print queue.

This might be able to be done through PLD.
1. Go to the Print Layout Designer.
2. Choose document type relevant to the report that you are going to
print.
3. Save template with new name if you are using a system default.
4. Open the template and go to Print Layout Designer > Display Document Properties > Paper Format tab.
5. Set the 'Number of Copies' to 3.
6. Save the new template and set it as default.
