DKA790GX Platinum - What's the best card that will work with hybrid crossfire?

Hi everyone. I know this board is a bit old now but I've set it up for my kids to play oldish games and it occurred to me that video cards from that era might be inexpensive these days. What's the best possible card to use with the on-board card for its hybrid crossfire? Would it be better to just get a separate standalone card? If so what's the best that will work with this board? I'm completely out of the loop these days on tech and have no idea what will even be compatible anymore.

Good news! I resolved my graphics issues without buying a new card. It all came down to a little logic. It used to work just fine. The game it's installed off the same disc as before, and there us no noticeable change in the install media. The hardware has not changed unless there has been some sort of electrical damage I cannot see. I had however updated my drivers many times over the last few years, and always from the AMD website.
I installed the latest MSI drivers for my onboard graphics and voila, it works!
All graphical glitches are now gone, though it runs a but slower.
I may still buy a new card. I'm favouring the HD4870x2 as the top of my motherboard's era or the slightly newer HD5770 which some reviews say is equivalent in performance. The latter uses the same GPU and shaders as the 6770 and is considerably cheaper.
If I go with NVidia it seems the best card in my price range is the 440GT.
Thanks, everyone, for all the advice!
i'd say the 790GX chipset would run a saphire radeon HD5770 card fine i have 1 of them on a different maufactures board that uses the AMD 690GX chipset and i have put both my HD5770's in that with crossfire on and had no issues at all just to try it out!
and the AMD 690GX is a lower more old chipset then the one your board has so i wouldnt see any issues with the board not accepting the HD 5770 cards at all!
i like the saphire branded ones better as they run much cooler and quieter then a stock card!

What is the strongest iPad that will work in New Zealand and Australia.  What is the cost including tax, please?  Can I purchase this at the Brea, California Apple shop?

You can see the American retail prices on the Apple website. If you look at 3G, make sure not to get the Verizon model, as it won't work outside of the US.
Otherwise, sales taxes are different from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, so you'll have to Google to find out the local sales tax in Brea as well as the California state sales tax.

  • What is the best conversion format to work with FCU ProX?

I got a lot of old material from a client on Mpeg-2 (he converted it  from VHS tapes from his family). When I tried to import the media into the project. FCU Pro X did not recognize the file. Using Toast Titanium I converted it to MPEG-4 and was able to import it. The quality is not good though.
Is that the best compression format to use or shall I try something else?
What about importing a DVD into the project?
    VOB aren't recognized as well

MPEG4 comes in a lot of different varieties. Generally speaking, it's not a format that FCPX is very happy with. You may or may not run into problems with it. (My recommendation to people who have such footage is is transcode ot to Pro Res.)
Pro Res is an excellent editing codec. I won't say that it's the perfect codec for all situations but it's the one i use for virtually everything that needs editing. I notice that Tom Wolsky just responded to a similar question and recommended DVCPRO 50. It's an excellent format and one that I've used in the past; the equivalent length files are about 2X Pro Res. Try a short test and see what you prefer.

  • What is the best record format to work with in Adobe Premiere CS5?

I typically have been working with videos in MPEG2 but have recently stumbled upon a major problem. I am able to play the MPEG2 footage no problem with VLC, however as soon as I import the file into Premiere the audio plays out of sync with the video. The out of sync audio is not consitantly off by a certain number of frames but instead seems to vary in how well it matches up with the video so I'm not able to manually correct it by cutting and moving the audio around. I have tried re-importing the video file and rendering the timeline but nothing seems to solve it.
We do a lot of broadcasting of events and have to give the footage to clients and so we need to know what format we should be recording in so that we don't have this problem occur again. We are recording via Aver Media from a Tricaster XD850 so we have the options of recording in: MPEG2, AVI, WMA, WMV and H.264. The feed that's being run into the Tricaster is from Sony NX5U camera's recording in 720p30.
Thanks for your help on this, we'd really like to get this problem sorted out.

For SD, I'd probably go with DV AVI.
For HD, I'd go with a UT AVI.

  • What's the best set up to work with clips captured on iPad 2?

I got fop 7 5 months ago, never really used it yet, now I'm seen red lines all the time, unlike iMovie which plays all the clips back with out having to render all day long, I was wondering what settings I should use,
someone mentioned that it's probably a good idea to compress all the videos into one format, then setting fop to the same format to play them back real time, makes sense although I thought FCP normally plays all formats, in any case I tried going through topics here and it's all scattered information, can someone please clear this up, my end product is for you tube so it's not like a film or anything, I would use iMovie but I have green screen clips I need to superimpose etc.
    Thanks in advance

You may find better advice on the iPad and iMovie forums. You are correct that FCP can handle almost any video format but you are incorrect in your assumption that FCP can play any format unless it is specifically set up to do so. FCP7 is more than 2 years old, it was created long before the iPda2's video shooting functions were available so there are going to be some bumps in yoru process.
This is a forum, not a dedicated help system. Like any pullet in board, information here is presented in discussions, often arguments. difficult to simply browse the hundreds of thousands of threads and expect to find useful information.
YouTube has tens of thousands of active iPad users. Have you tried searching youtube for tutorials on this very topic?
I do not know what format the iPad shoots. But you want to either transcode your video as it comes into FCP, transcode your clips after you've moved them to the Mac and before you bring them into FCP, or you must learn to set your FCP timeline to the same cocdec as your source files. All three of those operations are easily researched in the help system for FCP.

  • Video Cards that will work with AE CC

I need a card to work with my AE CC on the road..(LAP TOP)  for video editing and AE production of changes.I understand the list provided by adobe is a partial list I would like some other choices
    Thanks   Dave
    [email protected]

If you're using AE CC, there is no need to use the ray-traced renderer. It has now become obsolete with the arrival of faster-rendering, more powerful solution that comes FREE! Check out the  details of CINEMA 4D integration with After Effects CC (12.0)
The card list on the Adobe page is for cards that are certified to accelerate rendering of the ray-traced renderer. Otherwise AE uses the GPU for very little. Read more on the GPU (CUDA, OpenGL) features in After Effects CS6 here. Now, some third-party effects (like Element 3d or Red Giant Universe) make use of the GPU, but their requirements are very different and they could use a much broader range of cards. If you plan to use any of them, you'd need to consult their requirements.

  • A graphics card that will work with my 23' Apple Cinema Screen?

    Hello all,
My graphics card currently is a Radeon 9700 pro for my g4 - its pretty much about to die on me. I was researching cards and I can't figure out which one performs as well as my radeon 9700 pro OEM apple card and has the 'ADC' connection needed for this large 23' monitor. In most photos of graphics cards in webstores i've seen, they do not have an 'ADC' connection. I need help finding one, anybody have suggestions as to what card I should get and where?
I already tried the ti4600 and there were compatibility issues..

    Hi-
Not quite the same performance level, but not a bad card, the Radeon 9000 Pro will support your ADC monitor. Also available here.
You can replace the 9700 with another 9700.
The NVidia GeForce 4 MX is another option.
This page will allow you to cross reference the Apple part numbers with the appropriate card during your search.

Is there any way I can revert the ibook app in itunes so it quits trying to install the current ibook app. I am trying to stop getting the warning message. How much from Apple  is a 5870 card?   Can it be purchased for less somewhere else?   Can it be used in conjunction with the stock 5770 card?
    Thankyou
    Stuart

One or two Apple-firmware 5770 cards can be used simultaneousy in a Mac Pro. It requires ONE Aux power cord for each card.
ONE Apple-Firmware 5870 can be used in a Mac Pro, as it requires TWO Aux power cords, and that is all that are available.

  • I need to install an App that will work with my iOS. How do I get an earlier App that is not now in the App Store?

I have an iPod Touch that can only run iOS 3.1.3. I have had Zinio & PressReader (both free Apps) installed on it for many years, and subscribe to a number of Magazines and Newspapers. I had backed up the iPod in September 2012. Today, I had to restore the iOS from the backup, but saw that Zinio and PressReader had not been installed. I am aware that the iTunes store explains that the latest versions are for iOS 4.3, but I need the latest version that will work with my iPod on iOS 3.1.3.
Does anyone know how I can get hold of the earlier versions of the "ipa" files, short of asking the publishers themselves?
And, should I expect the Publishers to release the appropriate ipa to me?

You aren't being left in any lurch. Your hardware is obsolete, and the software world has moved on. If you have a qualm about the matter then discuss it with the software's developers. Apple is not responsible for software they do not develop. This is technology, and you will just need to get used to it.

What is the best card to implement a protolo CAN?

    Hi,
There are a lot of CAN cards that you can use with your application. I advise you to have a look at www.ni.com/can .
What kind of cards do you want to use ? PCI cards ? PXI cards ?  What is the speed you want to reach ? How many ports do you want ?
As you can see there are a lot of parameters that depend on your application and what you want to do.
