  • Connectivity cable for 6131

    Hi,
Being new to the experience of having a phone that talks to my computer as well as to other people, I'd appreciate some advice please.
I've just bought a 6131 and am trying to connect to my PC (Windows 2000). I've downloaded the latest PC Suite version (6.84)today and everything goes well until I'm asked to connect the phone to the USB. My computer recognises that there is new hardware, but PC Suite can't see my phone and the installation stops there. When I check the connectivity menu on the phone itself, the USB option is greyed out. I've restarted both the PC and the phone with no luck.
I am connected to the computer USB directly (not a hub) I was sold a CA-42 connectivity cable as being compatible with my phone. I have searched for discussions about this on this site, but can only find mention of the CA-53 cable being used with the 6131. Have I been sold the wrong thing?

    Hi jeba
CA-53 is compatible cable for 6131 listed under Nokia accessories for your phone:

  • Compatible batteries for 6131

    Hi,
    Can I use a BL-5C battery as a replacement battery for nokia 6131 ?
The stock battery for 6131 is BL-4C.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I bought nokia 6131 yet. Before i buy, i read features of phone on the websites. Standart standby time appears 240 hours. So nokia company claims that its standby time will be nearly 10 days. But my phone holds only 1 day in its first week. i think it will lengthen to 2 days after next charges. Although it has nice specifications, this is a disappointment. I think company must be more realistic, it will hold 10 days it you don't use it! It is a critical that i want to say. I saw this comment when i was looking for a solution to this problem. So it seems there is no solution with another battery. Thanks...

  • Firmware update for 6131 does not work

I am trying to upgrade the firmware on a 6131. Following the instructions on the site leads me to navigate the following path: Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone updates > Download phone software.
Bzzzzzz. No. 'Download phone software' is not an option. Only 'Current software details' and 'Install software update'. The latter option is dim, and selecting it returns a message: 'No software to install', obviously, because it has not downloaded it.
So I try to push the software from Nokia's web site: http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,77073,00.html > Get Advanced Settings > Accept Terms > Start > model 6131 > Next > Nokia software (firmware) update over-the-air > Enter security code and my phone number > Order Settings
The page claims it has sent me a text message, including the new software, but it never arrives. I tried with with other 'settings' from the same page several times, and the text messages did arrive just fine for those.
    Please help. Thank you,
    --Jimbo -
P.S. In case you are wondering, the reason I am trying to update the firmware is that the status of the voicemail waiting indicator is never updated. I have seen at least a dozen posts about that issue, but never one with an answer attached. So this is my next step.

Do you mean you're having a problem trying to download the update, install the update, after the update is installed trying to re-activate the phone? I assume you're getting this message on your PC, not the phone...? Or are you having problems with Internet connectivity on the phone itself? WiFi or 3G?
If it's problems on the PC, try disabling all antivirus/firewall software and see if that takes care of it.

  • Nokia 616 Contacts Sync for 6131

I have the nokia 616 car kit and i was using it with my 6630 perfectly , now i bought nokia 6131 and it said on the 616 page that it supports it , but when i want to update my contacts on the cart kit from the phone it needs the above software which i cannot install on the 6131 because it doesn't support .SIS files, is there any ideas ?

Thanks for your hint I've tried first the older file, because it was directly linked in another forum. Now I used Nokia_616_Contacts_Download_S60_3.1.sis and finally it works.
The installation shows that this app is not compatible and after installing it even so, ther pop up an system error message box.
After I delete all bluetooth connections (from the fse and phone) and rebooting the N97, I can start the file from the programs folder. After reconnecting to my car the download had started and I have access to the Phonebook
Also I want to mention that I tested it not on the original nokia 616, but with the inbuild system of an AUDI, which supports rSAP only.

  • 6131 Died.

I bought this phone last august, I've been very happy with it, however, I was dissatisfied with the exterior camerabutton. I, just a couple hours ago tried to update the firmware using a cable, cause (I could not find any info) I thought that maybe there were to be a new option for this and maybe this could also fix that the phone reboots sometimes (very uncommon) when I talk with people...
When I had the phone connected and verified that everything worked, I downloaded the appropriate software and started the upgraed, I got warnings about not turning the phone off etc, you know the deal. After just a few seconds the phone dies by itself, I thought that It should and then boot by itself or something, I waited for 10 minutes, the phone never started again and now it doesn't work at all. It won't boot, not even with the power adapter hooked in to it. I don't even get a notion that it works. It's all very sad. I will probably try to get this fixed in a nokia certed store in the next few days, but til then, maybe there's any quickfix, I'm happy just getting the phone up running again, The simcard seemes be intact and the micro-sd too...

Ok, calm down, everyone just calm down. It works great now, with new firmware and all =)=) I'm so happy, cause I really dig this phone.
I did a quick search for "6131 Bricked" and got this site: http://jcl.scenesp.org/?cat=19 - he tells a story about a bricked N70, but when reading, I locked on this "(since it still detected -in my computer at least- the device)", I tried pluggin in the phone to the PC again, and re-ran the update software, it worked smooth and good and after a few min, it said that it worked and the phone was usable again, I inserted the SIM and the transflash mem and it's like nothing ever happend, the phone works great and nothing's lost =)=)
Cheers from Sweden and thanks for learning me about Bricked =)

  • Error in Phone Software Update page ???

    When looking for a software-update for 6131
    -> Update over-the-air
Step 2/6 says Back-up data ... to memory card ...
I might be blind, but I didn't see a backup option on my 6131.
    Did anyone see?
Perhaps it's an option for S60 phones!?
    Greetings

    Hi,
I checked the software update link on Nokia-UK site and found the follows info in update over PC:
Personal data such as contacts, photos and messages stored in the phone memory may be deleted during phone software update. Before updating your phone software, we recommend you back up this data to your PC using Nokia PC Suite Software. Once your phone software is updated, you can restore the data using PC Suite.
This is correct text. And update over-the-air text is not correct. Just push next if you saved all data from your phone.

  • Speed while updating through pc suit

How much speed is required while updating my nokia 6131 through nokia pc suit? Is there anyone knows that?

I doubt that software file for 6131 very large and your internet connection would have to be pretty slow for it to time out, as file stored locally once download completed.

  • A boring 'does it sync' question for Nokia 6131

Thinking about a new phone, and want isyncability
Any experience with how well the Nokia 6131 works??
I know its not on the 'offical' list and I believe there is a plug in available, but wondered if it actually worked out of the box

Yes, there is a free patch here: http://www.mactomster.de/isync/
It's completely in German but all you need to do is download the patch and drag the plug in into the alias labeled in red on the .dmg. Then restart iSync and add your Nokia (having already paired the phone using Bluetooth Setup Assistant, of course). It works great for me.

  • US Supplier for Nokia 6131 NFC Developer's Edition

Is there a source within the United States to purchase the Developer's version of the 6131 NFC phone? This variant has had it's Secure Element (SE) unlocked using a special MIDlet for ease of development. There is a source in Europe, but I would rather buy from a local distributor.
If not, can anyone from Nokia tell me where I can obtain the unlocking MIDlet, so that I can buy the phone from NokiaUSA?
    Thanks,
    Rich

You would be better asking that question here:
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/
The software developers there should be able to help you.

  • X64 Driver for Nokia DKU-5

Hello, Can anyone tell me if there is a downloadable driver for x64 Edition for DKU-5. I mean how can I connect my phone with my PC? As soon as I plug-in the cable, the driver do not instal. Please help.

Nokia's support pages only have drivers for "Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP", and I suspect nobody else has written any 64-bit WinXP drivers for that cable.
