DKU-2 Usb cable connection

Hi all,
Just purchased a DKU-2 usb cable for my Nokia 6230, i installed the pc suite software which came with it and then tried connecting my phone to the pc as the wizard stated, it then froze while attempting to connect the phone to the pc. I then had to restart the program and i then clicked on connect me at the bottom right and it then came up with an error message "there is no available connection type, and therefore connection to the phone cannot be established, the wizard will exit. The phone itself is still recognized as new hardware by the computer.
Can anyone solve my problem?
Thanks

I have the same problem of GOWZY after installation. When I press OK on the message "failure to detect available connection type, please reinstall pc suite", another error message appear "Connection to Nokia PC suite not result. • What version of pc suite supports a dku-5 usb cabl...

    Hi,
My problem relates to establishing a connection between my Nokia 6100 and a desktop running Windows XP Home SP 2 - 2 Go RAM and fitted with all the bells and whistles....
Advised by an "expert", I bought a dku-5 usb cable to discover that my current pc suite version (5.1) does not support this kind of cable but on the contrary requires a serial cable (dku-2 type). I believe this is also the case for versions 5.8 and 8.5
I found out that the installation program linked my dku-5 cable with com port #4 on my computer.
Am I bound to buy a dku-2 cable or is there any way to establish a virtual connection between an usb port and a Com port ?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Regards to all.

The important thing to understand is that most new Nokia phones that have a possibility to connect a cable are real USB devices, but some are not, although physically you connect the phone in PC side to USB port.
    See this list:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4678148
to check what cable is suitable for what phone.
The only NOkia cable that needs a separately installed cable driver is the old DKU-5. All other NOKIA cables require you to install Nokia PC Suite and the cable drivers are included in the PC Suite package.
There are countless non Nokia cables available at the market, some of them seem to work OK with Nokia cable drivers, but some require their own driver and some seem not to work at all.
    Hello, Manta,
Here I am again still trying to connect my Nokia 6100 with my desktop. After a Google search about "Nokia 6100 driver update", I ended up onto a site offering a download of an updated version of Nokia PC Suite 5.8 clearly mentionning the 6100 model as being eligible for connection. I subsequently downloaded this program which is actually a .exe file.
My problem now is : what is the proper installation sequence ? I have 2 cables available: DKU-2 and DKU-5. Should I install the .exe first ? At what point should I connect my phone and which cable should I use ? I'm afraid I cannot use the "hardware installation" option since I don't know what directory the new drivers will be written to.
I hope you will not tell me my situation is desperate ....
    Thank you for your atttention/help.
    Regards

  • My iPhone 4s is stuck on a black screen that shows a USB cable connecting to iTunes. The phone will not turn on and the iTunes logo as I described only shows up when I plug the phone into the charger or my computer. I have tried the reset in restore mode

My iPhone 4s is stuck on a black screen that shows a USB cable connecting to iTunes. The phone will not turn on and the iTunes logo as I described only shows up when I plug the phone into the charger or my computer. I have tried the reset in restore mode as well as the DFU? mode and it still will not work. I have the latest version of iTunes on my Mac. My error code was 2002. I also tried it on my laptop (windows 8.1) and none of the above worked. My error code on my laptop was 02. The phone is through Verizon and it has absolutely no damage. It was working fine up until this and I have been trying to fix it for 2 days. Please help! I am unsure of what version the phone was currently running on before this because I have another iphone that's my primary phone and have not used this one in about a month. I do not believe it was updated to IOS 7.

Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. Follow the steps in the article below for the specific error messages you have been receiving. If after following all steps the issue remains book an appointment at a local Apple Retail Store to have the iPhone evaluated.

I've already tried turning my phone off holding Home key while inserting my cord into phone and nothing worked. I've tried DFU mode and that wont work either. What the heck do I do now? So annoyed with this.

I've also restarted my computer and still nothing.

  • DKU-2 USB Cable

    Hi all,
I have a DKU-2 USB cable I used with my lost S60 Nokia 6620 (6600 european equivalent). Is it compatible with my new S40 Nokia 6133 (6131 equivalent I think)? I am not willing to pay for the new recommended cable if it is just OK to use the old DKU-2 (even if it is slower).
    Thanks,
    JPRola
    Canada

Thanks to both of you, Petrib and the_mik.
I was just afraid of even trying it. Actually I do have to use it because the driver for the new cable won't even install. It complains telling that I already have another driver installed. Not true, I un-install the 2 year old PC Suite and DKU-2 driver and run a registry clean-up before attempting to install the latest PC Suite. My XP Windows installer is the version 3 something.
And that's true, the 6133 package in Canada comes only with the phone and the charger.
    Thanks,

  • How to communicate with a PC through a DKU-2 USB cable?

Could you please give me some hints on how to send data to a PC through the DKU-2 USB cable on my Nokia 6630 phone? I suppose I will need a J2ME MIDlet application on the phone and a J2SE application on the PC to receive the output but I am a beginner with J2ME and can't figure out where to start from. Can the javax.microedition.io.Connector class be used to achieve this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time.

  • Can n86 charge using usb cable connected to power ...

I know that nokia n86 is chargeable via usb cable connected to the computer/laptop. However, I don't always have a laptop or computer with me while I'm travelling so I was wondering, is it possible to charge my n86 using a usb cable connected to a power socket using a usb adapter like those used to charge mp3 players if I didn't bring the charger with me? will it spoil the phone?
    Thanks in advance.

should work fine as long as it is an official USB device. I have a Nokia USB charger and that is rated at 5V/1200mA and I have used a 3rd party USB charger and that has worked also. As I understand it you need something with at least 5V/500mA. I think my 3rd party one was about 600mA

  • N80 USB Cable connection

Probably in there somewhere but cannot find it. Can anyone give me an idiots step by step guide to connecting phone to PC by cable. Followed guides but still not showing through PC Suite (nor in My Computer) It is showing via device manager in Wireless communication devices and ports. Have reloaded PCSuite from website to get latest. Have uninstalled and reinstalled cable drivers. Phone does sort of tell me that PCSuite is activated when I connect to PC but does not show via as above. There must be something I am missing. Please help

Broadly speaking there are two ways you can connect your phone to your PC - this also depends on what you want to do and how quickly you want to do it. The two methods are either by cable or by wireless - I would recommend that you focus on one method (cable recommended) and get that working and sticking with it.
The reason for this is that if you ever want to be able to run the software updater on your phone - you will never be able to do this wirelessly - this can only be done via cable. In addition to this, data transfer speeds between your phone and PC will be substantially faster using a cable rather than wirelessly.
I'm pretty sure the N80 comes with a PC USB cable similar to the N70, so the first step would be to ensure that your USB ports on your computer work (for example do other devices work that are plugged into your USB ports ?) - I would also recommend that you do NOT use any USB hubs and plug the phone cable directly into the PC.
    1) Ensure you have PC Suite loaded on your PC and that the icon is next to your clock on your taskbar (the icon looks like a phone)
    2) Plug your phone into your PC using the provided PC USB cable
    3) Wait for a minute - you should see some messages popping up saying a new device has been found and new drivers are being installed for it. You may not see this if it has previously done this already so don't panic if you don't see them
    2) If you look at the bottom right hand corner of your screen next to your clock (unless you have moved your taskbar) you should see an icon which will be in the shape of a phone - right click on it and then left click once on "Manage Connections"
    3) Select (put a tick) next to the option which says "USB (DKU-2, CA-53, DKE-2, CA-70)"
    4) Click the configure button
    5) Follow the steps shown in the wizard
    6) That's it - you're done ! Make yourself a cup of tea - kick back and relax !
Of course - that's how it's meant to work - however if you have problems, then please let me know at which stage you're having problems and what the messages are and I will do my best to help you sort them out.
Please be aware however, that I am a member of the public helping you out, and I've just started a new job and am doing some strange hours - so I may not be able to respond as quickly as I usually would to your message.
    Thanks

  • Samsung LTE Mobile Hotspot PRO USB cable connection to Mac

I am trying to connect a Samsung LTE Mobile Hotspot PRO via USB cable to my Macbook and iMac.  I can see it in the System Information, but it does not show up in the Devices in Finder.  Is there a driver that I need?  Does it exist (yet)?

So I was able to get USB tethering to work, but I still can't connect to the hotspot as a media device (and view what is on my microSD card and/or the device).
Here's how I got USB tethering to work: I plugged into my laptop running Linux, where both USB tethering and mounting as a media device work fine, found the Mac OS driver on the device, copied it over to my Macbook, installed, rebooted, wirelessly connected to the hotspot, configured for USB tethering, went to Open Network Preferences..., connected to "SAMSUNG Mobile Device".   I did all this after talking to Samsung on the phone, where they told me the driver does not exist yet....

  • Nokia 6700 USB cable connectivity problem -fixed-

Ok, got my 6700 today. Everything worked like a charm, until I tried to connect it to my PC using the supplied USB cable. I downloaded and installed the latest Nokia PC suite which supports this phone (7.1.30.9) and connected the phone. Vista was unable to install a driver, and the phone was listed in the device manager as 'unknown usb device'. The phone display reported 'no response from host' after plugging in the usb cable.
I searched online for a solution, and tried the following:
    - repaired the install of the Nokia connectivity cable driver: no success.
    - deinstalled the nokia pc suite, ran the pc suite cleaner, rebooted and reinstalled the pc suite: no success.
    - threw away the unknown usb device in the device manager and plugged the cable back in so that Vista would try to install the driver again: no success.
    - tried other USB slots (not behind HUB): no success.
At this point I was so frustrated that I decided to take out the supplied 1gb micro sd card and transfer some data to it using a card reader. When I looked in the root of the sd card, I noticed that there was an executable called pc-suite.exe there, among some other files. I decided to delete those files to see if they were causing the problems, I deleted the following files:
    - autorun.inf
    - launcher.exe
    - pc-suite.exe
    - qf
Replaced the micro sd card in the phone, plugged in the usb cable and voila: connection! Everything worked like a charm.
During my online search I noticed I wasn't the only one experiencing connectivity problems with the 6700. Maybe this fix will help other people as well, that's why I decided to post it here. ;-)
    Peter

Thanks Peter, nice job - same problem, your solution is working. Shame on Nokia - i have so many problems with E52, and now with 6700 - why ? Is it so difficult to make a reliable software ? So disappointed ... maybe Apple is the solution - but after 10 years with Nokia why change with Apple ?

When I connect my Nokia 5800 to PC with USB cable and try to send/recieve any data to/from it, the connection fails after 5-10s. All software form Nokia is affected. The latest PC Suite , Ovi Suite, drivers etc. are installed. With Bluetooth connection everithing is more or less OK but from time to time the phone asks for confirmarion to allow access from PC (despite the connection is already established). Looks like the problem with Connectivity Cable Driver (7.0.2.1) ...

    hi guys, hi nokia
kind of same problem here. I installed the PC Suite from the web. When I want to save my data (contacts, sms, settings) via Content Copier it stops after the contacts and I get a message "connection lost".
On the other hand if I use it as a mass storage I can transfer as long as I want.
    SW-Version is: V 11.0.008
    Special-Version:11.0.008.243.02
I wanted to upgrade the firmware but not before saving everything ... but that's not working.
Also software like the Communication Center do not update the data. I'm missing calender entrys, contacts cannot be manage, etc. The software tells me connection is established but well not 100%.
    Thanks for the help!
