.dll and .tgz files appear seemingly at random...

Does anyone out there know what the purpose of these files are?
lsprst7.dll
sysprs7.tgz
They seem to appear sporadically in premier pro project folders every now and then. (I often use Photoshop in conjunction with PrPro. Just thought I'd throw that in).

I found that files named  lsprst7.dll, tmpprst.dll and lsprst7.tgz are created in various places  on my hard drive. What's the matter with them?
These files are part of the persistence layer of the licensing  component used by SparkMaker. Usually these files are created once in  the
%WINDIR%\system32 folder, if the user has local administrative  privileges. If the user does not have local administrative privileges,  these files might be created in the directory containing the Office  document you have opened. In order to change this behaviour make sure  SparkMaker is executed once from a user having administrative  privileges. This user should have write access to the %WINDIR%\system32  folder.
You can extrapolate that information to apply to your system(s).  I suspect there is a piece of software on your system that uses the same licensing component as this SparkMaker (or as SafeNet) and that is what is generating the files.  These files have been discussed here before, and SafeNet was one likely source of the files.  Regardless, it's not Pr or any CS5 suite app.

That's what it was looking like to me too.  But Todd_Kopriva seemed to shoot that theory down (reply #8).  Hopefully he will elaborate on what their actual purpose is, what is creating them and why.

You difinately need more ram. 2gb is the bare minimum to run just the Lion OS, anything extra will slow your Mac to a crawl. Upgrade to 8gb from either Crucial http://www.crucial.com/ or OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/

  • Camera raw and DNG files appear as generic icons

Camera raw and DNG files appear as generic icons instead of image previews (Bridge CS5)
    What can I do ?

    Hi Yammer.
First thanks a lot for taking your time to help me. I am really happy about it!
    I will try to answer:
    1)
I meant by having the Camera Raw.8bi placed in BOTH "C:\Programmer\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS5\Plug-Ins" and in C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\Adobe Plug-Ins\CS5\File Formats" the ACR will be found in two versions - or rather in two places (I know the former shouldn't be, but it solved my preview problem).
    2)
YES - I do have tried twice starting the Adobe Bridge holding down the Ctrl-key and ticking the two (the third was greyed out but ticked anyway) and with no help.
    3)
I have tried to do the *.8bi search you suggested, and this gives me the following dump - absolutely with a few more entries than yours. Some are like doubled.
Do you think I can just delete these?
    Kind regards, Jan

  • How to use third party library (like .dll and .lib files) in flascc?

I have a number of .dll and .lib files of the  third party library, which are generated from C++ code.
I read about flascc on other web site says:
"If you want to use third party library in your Flascc project, you must have either the source code or the linkable file which is compiled of the third party library   "
Dose the linkable file mean .dll file or .lib file?
    AND
How can I use the fuctions in them in my flascc project.?

Native code is not interchangeable between platform.
It means that you can't use library that wasn't build specifically for flascc.
And when they say linkable files they mean libraries compiled for flascc, not any libraries.
So if your libs are for windows, no luck, you have to recompile everything

Now i wan to make use of them and need to perform DataStage operations from my Java Interface.
Can any on help out me regarding this?

Try Java Platform SDK for native function calls without JNI writing code, like it done in .NET languages.

  • Dlls and manifest files

Problem: DLL written in CVI ( for usage with teststand) depends on another DLL, written in MSVC++2008. When trying to use the CVI-DLL in TestStand in fails to find msvcr90.dll. Even after I've ensured that MSVC++2008 redistributables ( 32bit ) are installed.
Problem seems to be that  MSVC++2008 runtime is installed as "Side by Side Assembly" into winsxs directory and therefore some hints in form of a manifest file are needed to find the right runtime.
I'am not sure, where i can/have to use the manifest file. Does the MSVC++2008 DLL has to be distributed with the manifest ( either embedded or as seperate file) . Or can I create also a manifest for the CVI-DLL and where I can find documentation for doing so ?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The manifest file should be in the DLL built in VC. This VC DLL is the one that depends on the 'side-by-side' msvcr90.dll and so must have a manifest declaring this dependency. The CVI DLL has nothing to do with this issue and does not need any manifest - putting a manifest in the CVI DLL would not help. By default, VC automatically embed the manifest when it builds the DLL - so it should already be there in the VC DLL. You can see the manifest by opening the DLL in VC resource editor and looking in the RT_MANIFEST resource section.
I think the most likely cause of your problem is that the manifest in your VC DLL points to a different version/build of msvcr90 DLL - this could be because:
    1) You are using a debug build. The VC redistributable only installs release build of msvc90.dll and this is different from the debug flavor of msvcr90.dll. Solution: use a release build of your VC DLL.
    2) You have a newer msvcr90 DLL on your developement machine (may be because of some patch) but you are installing an older redistributable on the target machine. If so, try patching your target machine. I think 1 is more likely than 2.

  • I bounce in AAC - and no file appears!?!?

    This is insane.
I check AAC in the bounce area - I tell Logic where to put the file... and the file isn't there!
I'm going nuts! Can anybody figure this out??
    Thanks!

Is it automatically imported into iTunes?
Maybe it is there. Mine go ther automaticaly, into my own "logic songs" playlist.

Or you can do the AAC convert after exporting from Logic as an AIFF or WAV file.

  • "common" and "client" files appear in ADF with "remote" turned off.

We are getting files created in our business component directories that we specifically ask JDev NOT to create. We are using ADF/UIX, and all are running in the same application server. In our Application Module Editor, we do NOT enable the "Remotable Application Module", and really have no need for the "common" and "client" interfaces. There is really no rhyme or reason to what files are created, and when changes are made to the Entity or View objects that the files deal with, the "common" and "client" interfaces are often not changed, and errors are generated on compile.
Anyone around that can tell me how to disable the creation of these files?

    Hi Scott,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  The Remote app does not appear in the iTunes library; instead, the iTunes library appears in the Remote app which you can then use to manipulate that library.  This article has some information that might help:

  • .AppleSyncInfo and .dat* files appearing in Favorites folder in Windows

I've seen a complaint similar to mine posted in the iPhone forum. A list of files with names like ".dat028c.373", together with a single file called ".AppleSyncInfo" is scattered throughout my Favorites folder and is beginning to interfere with my use of Favorites. I can only conclude that this is linked to my syncing my ipod touch to my windowos computer. As someone who is starting to switch over to Mac's, I find this terribly disturbing. And please don't tell me that this is keyed to using Windows. I don't even ask for automatic sync with my ipod. So, what's this stuff doing in there? And how can I prevent it in the future?

    Peter,
You can safely delete all the files in \Adobe\CameraRaw\Cache they are (or were) used just to generate previews of your raw files, not to store edits. When you delete the cache, PSE will (or would) regenerate the cache on demand, as needed, to generate thumbnails. But there is no other impact on your photos or catalog.
Depending on your option setting, the edits to your raw files are stored either in the XMP sidecars or in the ACR database, which is stored in \Adobe\CameraRaw\Database.
Last year, many of us noticed that ACR in PSE 6 was using the ACR cache, and then at some point it stopped using it. An Adobe engineer on the Adobe ACR forum claimed that Elements never uses the cache, but that was clearly wrong for many of us last year. However, my current PSE 6/ACR 4.5 and PSE 7/ACR 5.1 dont use the cache, so I suspect some other version of ACR was buggy with PSE and used the cache. Version 4.5 was released 7/28/2008, and perhaps 4.5 fixed the cache bug with PSE, and perhaps you updated to it soon after, which would explain why your last cache entry is dated 7/26/2008.

  • Sorting photo and video files

Is there any way to control where files are stored I want to be able to save photos to more than one place if the phone can make its own sub folders for camera messaging and downloaded why can't we make our own folders and move files it seems like it should be a simple task is there even an app that'll do it?

I did help, I'm the one that told you about the files app. Don't get mad at me because you didn't get to know the basics of how the device works..You asked a question about what the app would do instead of going to the app to see.

  • Font.createFont() and temporary files

    Hi,
I have a servlet which uses the Font createFont(int, InputStream) method to overlay text on an image, which is sent to the client.
However, each time this method is invoked, a copy of the font as a temporary file is stored in c:\windows\temp. Closing the input stream has no effect, and the files only seem to disappear once JBoss/Tomcat is shut down.
Once the font is read and rendered, it is no longer required; how does one signal that this temporary file should be removed? I cannot believe that there is no mechanism designed to programmatically remove these.
(as a possibly amusing sidenote - I recently went on holiday for two weeks and had temporarily commented out the lines to cache already-generated images. I came back to find 6Gb of temporary files, all of them being copies of Verdana.ttf!)
    Thanks,
    Matt
PS. Yes, I realise that it's inefficient to be reading the font file every time I invoke the servlet - I will change this, but I still dislike the thought of having useless temporary files floating around.

Thank you both so much for your help; I've upgraded from 1.5.0_06 to 1.5.0_08 and the temporary files are now correctly garbage collected.
There are several reasons why I am using an InputStream for loading the Verdana font; firstly, I believe it is best practice to write code that is platform-agnostic where possible. Secondly, I prefer to bundle dependent resources in the software itself rather than rely - or hope - on the target system having what the software is after (within reason, of course).
However, the pragmatic answer is that since Java's font kerning capabilities are less-than-desired (non-existant, even?), I am using iText to calculate font kerning. iText reads the ttf file itself, so rather than have a hard-coded reference to c:\windows\fonts\verdana.ttf (ick!) I decided to bundle the font with the software.

  • Deleting Capture scratch and Render files

When and how should one go about deleting capture scratch files and render files?
seems alot of folks say to transfer them to disc.... do you have to save them?
i mean if you save the time line project (to re-edit later) and save a dvd proj, and a disc img. and even a copy of the movie/media as qt file -----why do you need to save all the cap scratch and render files???????
    please educate me.
    thanks
    tim

Whoops - only half your questions answered, so I'll try harder:
    > i mean if you save the time line project (to re-edit
    later)
It's the Media Files in the Capture Folder that are the heart of the project. If you delete those, the Timeline will contain only Offline Clips with nothing to re-connect to.
    > and save a dvd proj
Same answer as the QT Movie - only worse! The DVD version will be highly compressed and you'll lose a lot of quality if you re-edit it.
If the project is very small, you might be able to put your FCP project file and the Media Files on a Data DVD - but it will have to be VERY small. The Media Files are BIG.

This is the only time i lost my file when i didnt think twice and just allowed the Keynote and pages files created to be stored on icloud. It was there for a few weeks and then suddenly i realised i coldnt find it anymore.

  • Migration Assistant issues and losing files (Mt. Lion on new hard drive)

I just, by either dumb error or providence, migrated the contents of my backed up hard drive, which has my Mt Lion and all applications folders, to a new hard drive. The old and original drive on my 2008 Quad Mac Pro was starting to worry me. All of the applications and systems files appeared to have migrated flawlessly, and my calendar updated and my 20,000+ emails were restored. All of the programs/applications work. Everything appears normal, except data and obvious missing files. (Note I had installed Mt. Lion over  Leopard and Snow  Leopard previously, and did not rewrite the drive before I did that.)
The size of this new drive is substantially less than the last one. On the latter, I counted more than 50 gigs of data, on the volume with all of the primary OSX documents. That is what I see in the Time Machine backup right before I did the Migration Assistant. The size of the same volume on the restored new hard drive that has my OSX is about 31 gigs.
I did NOT run (by accident and perhaps curiosity) the Time Machine restore backup using disk utilities. Again I did, by accident or curiosity) Migration Assistant.
What does appear lost are all of the Windows documents that were accessible on my portioned drive on my old hard drive, accessible only via VMWare. (I had all of those previously backed up, brute force, before doing this, and I'm not worried if I don't access them now since I have them if I need them). This was about 18 gigs of data I guess.
Does anyone else have experience with using Migration Assistant and losing files that may have been on a partitioned drive (running Windows) and accessible by VMWare? I can still rewrite over the new drive I just formatted and do it all over again using disk utilities and running this from a boot jump drive I created before, but this time using Restore/Time Machine. I just had heard from one source it was best to download Mountain Lion first, and then do a Time Machine restore, which I ended up actually not doing.
    Thoughts appreciated.
