  • ITunes will not work on Fresh INstall of Vista x64 SP1

I have a strange issue. I have a Windows Vista x64 with SP1 (Yes the DVD is a production DVD from Microsoft not a slip stream copy.) and I wanted to do a fresh install of Vista with SP1. Reinstalled OS and everything is running great but iTunes. When I start iTunes I get this error message about "mssip32.dll" being damaged or corrupt please reinstall the app. So I looked around good old Google and apple.com. I found several fixes about re-registering a set of dll files. So did them all, no change. Reinstalled Vista from scratch again, no change. So for the heck of it I reinstalled Vista with no SP1 installed and then applied SP1 and it works fine. I reinstalled Vista with SP1 and have been running it for over a week and everything on the system is tested and solid as a rock with no issues. The only program that will not work is iTunes. I have also tried all the way back to version 7.4 and no luck.
    Any ideas on this?

  • Shockwave won't install on Vista x64?

When I try to install (both web and standalone EXE) on my
Vista x64 system, I get the error
"Could not load the DLL library
    C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Shockwave 10\gi.dll". The application
has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is
incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.
Any ideas how I can get around this? Odd that it's trying to
install a 32-bit app in system32 instead of the SysWOW64 directory
    like it should...

Adobe doesn't care about you or your problems. Go away.
To get around this problem you would probably have to
disassemble the installer and then place the dlls into the correct
folders yourself. Adobe appears uninterested in doing anything. I'm
kind of pissed off, can you tell? On the plus side this is a great
opportunity for a competitor to take advantage of Adobe's
    incompetence.

  • ITunes won't install on Vista x64

I've got a Vista x64 system that crashed a while ago. I've succesfully recovered all of my other programs except for itunes and quicktime. I have tried to uninstall them with a few programs and then reinstalled, but then whenever I try to run it I get a "iTunes has stopped working" message. Any advice?

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315353
It says you need to re-register the DLL.
All I did was google the error message you got -
+The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.+

  • Toolbox won't install on Vista x64 with HP Business Inkjet 1100

To install my HP 1100 on Vista x64, I was redirected to the only compatible driver which was for the HP 1000.  The printer works, but has lost some of it's features such as double sided printing and the Toolbox to monitor ink levels.  A search of the forums suggested installing OJProK550_Toolbox_en.exe, but after installing that I can't get it to function because it states the driver hasn't been installed.  What driver?  I'm confused since I have the functional driver for this printer installed and even reinstalled through New Drivers to be sure I had the latest.  I suspect the conflict and failure has something to do with this optional driver I had to use.
Can anyone offer some suggestions please?  I hate to wait until my ink cartridges are empty before finding I need one (it usually happens on a weekeng!)
Interestingly, I "scabbed" this printer to my laptop running XP x32 and from there I can do doublesided printing, but cannot access the toolbox either.

Hello, have you tried using the PCL 5 UPD? In my experience, PCL 5 runs better and is not glitchy which seems what was going on before you uninstalled it. Also, how do you have the IP addresses setup for your home network?

  • Itunes install and Vista x64 ".ipg" registry permissions issue

Much like similar posts, I tried to upgrade to 8.0.2.20 x64.
It gets almost to the end (on iTunes piece, I think) and stops with:
    "HKEYLOCALMACHINE32\Software\Classes\.ipg\OpenWithList\iTunes.exe.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact blah...blah...blah"
I initially ran the install "as Administrator". I tried again by logging into the machine as Administrator. Checked permissions on the above Reg key. Uninstalled, cleaned registry. Tried re-install of 8.0.11. Tried the "Switch-less" installs.
NOTHING gets past this registry key. And, of course, I have no iTunes! Quicktime and all the rest appear to be fine.
Somebody smarter than me <everyone!> please offer some relative wisdom or simply a comforting assurance that Apple is listening and cares deeply about our sufferings!
    Thanks, h

    Well, I have an update.
I used RegSeeker (again) but this time removed every reference to Apple and it's products.
I then went to apple.com thru IE 64bit and redownloaded the 64 bit itunes.
This time - it gave the "QT is corrupt or not present" error.
I went back to apple.com thru IE 64bit and down'd the standalone version of QT. It crapped out on a CLSID registry error (I can post the actual, if anyone cares)
HAS ANYONE HEARD ANY OFFICIAL WORD ON WHETHER APPLE IS ADDRESSING THESE ISSUES!
    Thanks, h

  • Laserjet 1022 drivers wont install on Vista x64

I hope someone can help me out as I am in a bit of a bind.
Recently I encountered a print spooler subsystem app error which resulted in me obviously losing access to my printer.
After trawling many forums I was able to seemingly reset this and get it back to a stage where everything was operative (I presume it is) yet the issue I have encountered now is the fact that I am unable no matter how many times I try to reinstall the drivers and get the printer back working again.
Has someone experienced the same issue as I have? Please help!

You download drivers from Boot Camp Assistant. Look there.
In the past the drivers were all on your DVD from OS X and would copy them to Desktop in Windows.
Back then, the folder was inside something like Apple \ Drivers \ .... \ Bootcamp64.msi
You can still search Explorer for "Bootcamp64" as well as search these forums.
    Others have done same.

  • KeyAgent and MacHAL didn't install when installing Vista x64

    Hi All,
I have seen a couple of sketchy posts about this, but nothing that really explains what's going on here.
I tried a clean install of Vista x64 last night on BootCamp, and I loaded the new Mac Pro BootCamp drivers than are available for download on the web (they are supposed to support x64 now).
I got two errors... KeyAgent and MacHAL wouldn't install. As some people have mentioned, the installation said I didn't have the correct permissions.
Anyway, the installation proceeded when I selected 'ignore' to these errors... and on the face of it, all seems well with my Vista installation.
However, question is, what do KeyAgent and MacHAL do...?? Do I need them...?? Is there a way I can get them installed...?? Etc..
    Many Thanks

Hi, Just hit the same problem with installing Vista Ultimate x64. KeyAgent & MacHAL failed to start, did the ignore and everything looked OK. Installed the Mac drivers, but no Bluetooth, Airport etc, plus the BootCamp control panel and system tray were missing.....
Removed the BootCamp partition completely and reinstalled this time with x32 version of Vista,
no problems at all, Mac drivers load and everything works. Hate having to corrupt my first Mac in 8 years, but need Windows for specific PC applications.
As a side note. I had to create a 50Gb partition, due to file sizes. Downloaded MacDrive7 from MediaFour, absolutely brilliant. Lets me see the Mac Partition and my Mac 750Gb Seagate backup from Windows. One small issue, when you load software that has both Mac & PC installs, if MacDrive is turned on you can't see the PC install. Workaround - disable MacDrive7, reboot, PC version installs OK and then reset MacDrive7.
    Cheers

  • Problem with Vista x64 and Audible in iTunes

I've made a clean install of Vista x64.
Installed iTunes and started it off reloading my music. When it came to .aa files from Audible it prompted me for my audible login - which I gave. It then rejected my login and skipped all my audible stuff.
I've now tried several times to completely wipe iTunes from my system and reinstall it (even tracking down all the config stuff it installs and doesn't remove on removal) and still have no luck. I've also tried the vista permissions fix.
Problem is iTunes seems to think it's authorized on Audible as I have a 'DeAuthorize Audible account' option under advanced. If I enter my login under this, or when prompted when trying to add an Audible file I get a "Could not authorize this computer because an error occurred (-44012)" error message.
Anybody have any clue about this, because google hasn't.

I believe that's just to fix permissions if you can't play back music you've purchased from the music store.
I did try running it anyway, just to see if it made any difference, it didn't.

  • How do connect to internet with Leopard and Vista x64

After installing Leopard, then running Boot Camp and installing Windows Vista x64 I cannot connect to my router, either by Ethernet or Airport. Windows could not detect any wireless network when trying to set up a wireless router. When I try to connect to the router with an Ethernet cable I get an error message telling me to "The underlying Ethernet connectivity required for the broadband connection was not found. Please install and enable the Ethernet adapter on your computer via the Network Connections folder before attempting this connection. I know the router and the MacBook Pro are working because I can connect either with Ethernet or Airport when I am running Leopard. The router is a D Link WBR-2310.

It happened to me as well on Windows XP. I managed to get it to work by changing WEP password on the Airport to WPA/WPA Personal. It seems Windows is finicky about WEP set ups...

  • [Solved] Audition won't start with [...\Preferences.cpp-253] error on windows 7/vista x64.

Hi! You have really nice support for Audition - 3 pages of problems here and no solution. Just kidding
So i've decided to help those poor users, that encounter the following problem (it may (or may not) arise after installing Adobe CS* with Audition already installed on the system)):
Adobe Audition crashes at start with the following error:
    [\premiere2.0\Backend\Src\Core\Preferences.cpp-253]
After applying the Windows XP compatibility mode error chages to:
Adobe Audition could not find a supported audio device. Please check your device settings.
    Then it crashes like before.
Uninstalling Adobe Premiere won't help, by the way.
This problem is somehow related to the audition_settings.xml file in the Data folder and deleting this file solves the problem. You can aslo delete the whole folder - it will be created again on a next Adobe Audition start. Here is the path:
    C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\3.0\audition_settings.xml
Some technical data on my system:
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 (don't be confused - it is in every way identical to Windows 7 x64, at least for Adobe products). I have a strong feeling that Vista x64 users may encounter that too.
    Installed Adobe products:
    1. Adobe Audition
    2. Adobe Master Suite CS5 (without premier)
    3. Adobe Acrobat X
I hope that my post will help you solve the error in the next release!

  • Problems Installing CS3 Web Premium on Windows Vista x64

I was (key word) having problems with my installation of CS3 on my brand new (3 days old) computer with Windows Vista x64. Finally after two days of installing and uninstalling, I called Adobe support. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they solved my problem (if only I had called sooner).
Having worked on this for 2 days I have seen and tried everything except of course the cure. So I wanted to put this out there for any one else that is having problems.
    The symptoms:
    - Everything seemed to install correctly (except acrobat which is another story. you can find lots of post about that.). No errors during installation. And when it finally completed installing, all that was left was to click "finish" which indicated to me that installation was successful.
    - Open Photoshop. PS would open and immediately stop working. Vista said it was not responding.
    - Open any of the other programs and the little vista circle would spin for 5 to 10 seconds then nothing. Program did not start to open. Just nothing.
The problem: Unbeknown to me (never saw an error message) "Licensing for this product had stopped working". When I described above symptoms tech support went straight to this.
The solution: Download the Licensing Service Update and run it. http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401528
Once I ran this, Photoshop opened and let me enter serial number and activate CS3.
If after your installation, Photoshop or any of the other programs seem to get stuck or you never get the dialog box to enter serial number, the Licensing Service Update should fix things for you.

wow...thank you so much for this posting. I just got home & followed your steps and now I have CS3 up & running. After 4 days of stressing out, finally someone was able to assist. Why can't the Adobe Experts & Employees on these forums supply this much needed information?????
I seriously understand why people want to get crack versions of this software rather than paying hundreds of dollars like us and avoid all this BS and get no support whatsoever!
    Thank you again!!
