DLO HomeDock Deluxe vs. Griffin TuneCenter

Since the iPod AV Connection Kit does not allow the user to display the menu on a television and flip through the menu via the remote, does anyone have a recommendation regarding one of the 3rd party products that will do such? DLO HomeDock Deluxe?? Griffin TuneCenter??

Unfortunately from my personal testing there’s no way to do this since only apple’s connectors work with the new classic. As a matter of fact, the 160 classic defaults to video off when not connected to the universal dock or new cable (the new cable is listed on the apple store to be 2 or 3 weeks away. Oh the joys of early adoption….

DLO HomeDock Deluxe + iPod Video 60 GB: after Update to 1.2 no audio signal

Please help!
I just received in these days my DLO HomeDock Deluxe and was very happy with it. Before I have had the Apple A/V-Kit and was disappointed to see no menu on the TV screen.
So the HomeDock works fine and I have been very happy with it, but only for some days.
I have installed the new iTunes 7.0 and with this comes an update for the iPod Video to system version 1.2 - and afterwards the sound output doesn´t work anymore !!!!
I have tried everything. Reset on iPod, reset on HomeDock. Various settings - NOTHING!!!
The video output works very fine, I have the menu, everything OK, but NO MUSIC.
I asked the support of DLO but no answer to my email...
Please help, no music in here :-(((

Hi, I have the Logic3 Universal Dock, using S-Video and stereo line out for Photos and Videos with sound to my TV, which works well.
BUT NO MUSIC when I want to play just music through the TV! Is this a software issue? You say you used to be able to hear music through your TV. Apple please help here! Thanks.

DLO Homedock Deluxe + Album Art on TV w/Classic...

Has anyone here with the latest model of the DLO Homedock Deluxe been able to get album art displayed on their TV with it while using an iPod Classic? I understand that between firmware updates from Apple and DLO, the video-out issue has been resolved, but I haven't seen any posts online from anyone who has successfully displayed album art on their TV that way. However, there have been posts from people who have been able to get all the video features except album art to work. I'm assuming that if it can work, the people who've made it happen aren't posting because, well, it works for them. I'm really eager, nay, desperate for a device that'll let me navigate my music collection on my TV via menus and display album art, so I'd be thrilled if this can be made to work. Thanks in advance for your help...

DLO HomeDock Deluxe Video problem

there is no video signal in iPod mode... everything's great when i play music. but when i switch to iPod mode and start playing video - the sound is there, but TV shows no signal. i can see the video playing on the iPod, but there's nothing on the screen. i had to use separate wires to send the audio signal to my receiver, and a regular video rca cable tosend the video signal straight to my tv. anyone had this problem? thanks

You need to set the iPod video settings TV Out to Ask or On.
You cannot see it on the iPod and on the TV at the same time.

Problem with DLO Dock Deluxe

I've been trying to get my nano to work with the "On TV" feature of the DLO Dock Deluxe. The nano connects fine to the stereo when in the default dock mode but as soon as I push the mode button on the DLO remote to go to TV mode the nano display slides to a big check mark saying OK to disconnect. The TV screen shows the DLO menu screen but says "no iPOD detected". I've called DLO several times. First they said to update the nano to 1.1 (did this and the updater brought the nano to 1.1.1 but didn't help solve the problem), then they said to try and restore the nano (which I did with no change in behavior), then they told me to exchange the dock for another one (which I just did today and I still have the same problem). I'm feeling convinced that the problem has to be with the iPOD but not sure what to try next since I've tried everything DLO has asked. I think someone may have said to reformat the device but I didn't know that was an option and not sure how to do that. I'm assuming that would be different than reseting, updating, and restoring. Has anyone else had similar challenges? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Barry. I wonder if anyone else has the answer to that question. I have many different view options for different folders, and it would be a pain to have to reset each one of them.

Viewing photos using DLO HomeDock for iPod

I just purchased an iPod 60G and am trying to view photos on my tv using the DLO HomeDock for iPod. I am able to get the audio to come through the tv but cannot view photos or video. I have the AV cables hooked up correctly and even have an S-Video cable hooked in. Does anyone have any insight as to why I can't view my photos? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How can I see ID3 tag info on TV w/o buying extra gadget e.g. dlo/griffin

With a simple A/V connection cable, how can I see the ID3 info of the song playing e.g. the name, album name etc. (basically the iPod screen) on TV?
I know aabout DLO or Griffin accessories, but I do not want them... they do not work so great... Is there a firmware update I need or anything simple?

You probably are not aware, they use s/w to control the iPod through their remote and create a different screen on TV.
Try Griffin and let me know. It is $105-ish in Best Buy. Or try DLO HomeDock Deluxe which is around $150.

HomeDock issues-on screen navigation

I installed a DLO HomeDock Deluxe. This allows me to use on-screen navigation of the iPod. It worked for a couple days and now everytime I go to the On-Screen mode it will not play thru the TV--instead it bouces from the iPod menu to a "checkmark" saying it is OK to disconnect----it yeilds no on screen navigation features. I took the DLO back to the store, thinking it was defective and obtained a new one. The same thing happens to the new one--so it is something in the iPod settings. Anyone have any ideas?

I've had the same problem. It seemed to start when the iPod was updated to the 1.2 software level. I had to reset everything (pull the power on the Homedock) and got it to almost work. It stopped the checkmark screen looping on the iPod and does show the TV screen, but it will only show the 1st song I play, doesn't update the time bar, nor change when the song changes.
I emailed DLO about it, they had nothing useful. They apparently do not provide a way to update the HomeDock software (the USB connection is straight to the iPod) and only suggested I reset the iPod. Tried that, no joy.
This kind of defeats one of the main features of the HomeDock.

Ipod and TV

I am considering buying a new 5th gen ipod 60GB and I need to know-If I hook the Ipod up to my stereo and TV can I see my playlists on the TV Screen. Also - what is the best accessories to buy - the AV Cable and Remote - Or the Docking Station? Thanks for any responses

If not, then the Apple iPod AV Connection kit is a good deal, or just the AV cables. you could also get the remote/dock, although those will not control the iPod menus. (Apple's dock and remote won't)

IPod and BMW with Navigation/GPS/TV kit

Hi there,
On my old BMW, I was pretty happy with the ipodyourbmw kit. However, my new BMW has a GPS navigation kit which means that the genuine ipodyourbmw kit does not work with it.
My options thus far (and the BMW dealer has been poor in giving advice) is
-using an FM broadcaster
-using a cassette tape adaptor
-putting in a basic auxiliary connection
What I dislike about the AUX connection is that it does not charge the iPod, and I can not change between playlists without opening my glove compartment and manually changing playlists on the iPod itself which I refuse to do.
Is anyone aware of a third party solution that will work on a BMW X5 with GPS navigation kit that does the following:
-change playlists through the stereo or steering wheel
-charges the iPod battery
-offers high quality sound
I know that BMW are releasing a new iPod kit which will offer complete playlist functionality, but its only for the new 1 series and 3 series.

I bought the new ipod video and av conection kit but I can only se pictures and videos in my tv, I want to navigate my ipod using the mac remote control ( av kit) and see everithing with my tv how can I do it

IPod turns itself off in dock

I have a new iPod classic 160gb. From time to time, the iPod turns itself off while playing, but only while in a speaker dock. This has happened in two different docks, including the Bose SoundDock and the Griffin Journi. Somewhere midway through a song, the music stops, the backlight comes on, it goes into charging mode. If I hit play, it continues as if nothing has happened.
I don't have a problem listening through headphones, anyone else see this?

Along with the frustrating, well known and widely shared iTunes freezing issues, my (second, first one returned)silver 160GB classic also experiences this 'shutoff' in my iHome dock. I haven't had this issue with my DLO Homedock deluxe, but when in my iHome speaker dock playback starts fine but then just shuts off midway through a song when it feels like it, then like was said, goes to the charging battery screen. So, this new iPod has made iTunes, old video docks and now even my iHome dock worthless. I've really begun to question the intellegence of this 'upgrade'.

IPod to home theater- have video but absolutely NO AUDIO!!!

I just bought a 30GB iPod for Christmas as well as the DLO HomeDock Deluxe. I connected everything perfectly fine: S-Video to the TV, Red (R), White (L) RCA cables to the stereo receiver. The video is working but I cannot get audio at all. No music, no sound when the videos play. Can anyone help?

OK first question is, do the videos play with sound if you don't use the dock? In other words, if you play them on your iPod and listen to them with the earbuds, is everything ok? How about from iTunes on your computer?
Where are the videos from? iTunes music store?

Sound, But No Video

Recently I bought Monster cables and an iPod universal dock so I could watch my iPod on the TV. Unfortunatley, like the title says I can't see the picture. I put my TV on SVIDEO1 and make sure the TV OUT is on on my iPod, including NTSC. I am pretty sure all the cables are in correctly. What should I do to fix this?

Interesting issue guys. I just bought myself DLO HomeDock Deluxe and I hope its not gonna have complications as such.
Anyway Jedun, in audio Red & White always represents Right & Left Audio channels respectively. Red alone would therefore only give you Right Audio channel and you need a Left to make it stereo - of course. UNLESS Apple's engineers try to complicate life for you and color Left channel Blue? Yellow is always for Image/Video.
I read in some hack forum that that's what they did to the headphone TV output connection, some cable switch around - but I thought it should be standard for the Universal Dock.
What Aman (previous post) mentioned about Red being for video is for the standard cable hack from headphone out for video. You should get better audio tapping from the dock since this should give you Line Out level.

Charging Docks For The iPhone

folks i could really use some help finding a charging dock for my iphone. ultimately i would like to dock the phone in a device that is meant to support the iphone. the device would have both audio and video out. the device would charge the iphone and look decent enough to leave siting out.
