DLP 46hm94

I have this TV and have been hooked up to cable, then to Direct TV for the last two years. I want to hook up to an Antenna however wanted to know if I need a digital converter box.
Also if someone can tell me how to hook this up easily. I am more visual and can't always identify tech terms.
46" DLP projection TV.
Also I have old standard components:
RCA DVD Player (maybe 7 years old)
Sony VCR  (Maybe 12 yrs old)
Sony receiver (10 years old)
Sony 5 disc CD play (10 years old)
Also looking for suggestions for some kind of hard drive for program recording, and possible WI-FI Blue ray in the near future.
Looking to not spend $80.00 a month on TV since we mainly watch local channels.
I have Cable (Comcast) internet but not TV.
Thanks in advance

Same thing with my son's 52HM84. I have replaced the bulb and the ballast but still no video. When the set tries to start, everything sounds normal, fans spin up and all the usual clicks but then there is a short (2 seconds) whirring sound like a fan spinning down and then the set tries to restart again. After several attemps, it finally gives up and starts blinking both red and green lights at 1 second intervals. I'm stumped!!! Hate to just toss this beautiful set but I also hate to keep spending 150 bucks a pop to troubleshoot parts!!
"Hopefully"......someone can give us some insight on this issue.

  • Repair help with DLP 46HM94?

I have a Toshiba DLP 46HM94 TV whose picture went out recently.  I ordered a new bulb and installed it tonight.  I did it correctly and closed the door first before powering up. (Yes, I've had to do this before.)  The picture does not come on and after several seconds, it makes an odd short "wind down" noise and the green light blinks five times.  Then the TV powers down and recycles.  After eight cycles, it stops and the red and green lights blink in unison.  All the troubleshooting guides advise me to change the bulb, which I just did.  Any ideas?

  • DLP Attachment Scanning - Size Limitations

Is it documented anywhere what the attachment file size limitations are for DLP scanning?  In the ESA Configuration documentation I read:
"To scan attachments, the content scanning engine extracts the attachment for the RSA Email DLP scanning engine to scan."
Can you identify what scanning engine is referenced by "content scanning engine" and what is the maximum attachment size it can process?  Also are those settings modifiable and some indcation of performance impact if they are increased to a maximum of 50 MB per attachment?
I know you can make some modifications in the DLP policy, however it is our desire to DLP scan every document sent up to our allowable maximum email size.
If large attachments cannot be scanned we may be forced to reduce our maximum message/attachment file size.
We are currently using Async O/S 7.5.1-102 and will be moving to 7.6.0 when it comes GA.

    Hello David,
The content scanning engine in reference is the same AsyncOS scanning engine responsible or Message and Content Filter scanning. The maximum size of attachment to scan for this scanning engine is controlled by your 'scanconfig' setttings, as configured in the IronPort CLI. The default 'maximum size of attachment to scan' is 5MB.
    IronPort1.example.com>scanconfig
There are currently 6 attachment type mappings configured to be SKIPPED.
Choose the operation you want to perform:
    - NEW - Add a new entry.
    - DELETE - Remove an entry.
    - SETUP - Configure scanning behavior.
    - IMPORT - Load mappings from a file.
    - EXPORT - Save mappings to a file.
    - PRINT - Display the list.
    - CLEAR - Remove all entries.
    - SMIME - Configure S/MIME unpacking.
    []> setup
    1. Scan only attachments with MIME types or fingerprints in the list.
    2. Skip attachments with MIME types or fingerprints in the list.
    Choose one:
    [2]>
Enter the maximum depth of attachment recursion to scan:
    [5]>
Enter the maximum size of attachment to scan:
    [5242880]>
    <...>
Any message that is larger than this limit will be skipped by the scanning engine. This would mean that pertinent DLP policys and filters would not match that same message. Naturally, allowing larger messages to be scanned will result in performance risks, as more system resources would be required to complete the content scanning.

    -Jerry

  • How do I connect my Mac Book Pro to a Mitsubishi DLP projector?

How do I connect my MacBook Pro to a Mitubishi DLP Projector?

Without knowing the model of your MBP and what connectors are on the projector this is only a shot in the dark but I'd guess you will need a min-display port (mac end) to HDMI (projector end) cable.
See Belkin Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable (2 m/6.5 ft.)  for one possibility. But you need to confirm the connectors on your equipment before buying.

jpmarkques post is a good start point, after folling his directions, you can try detect displays. Also try different rsolution and refresh rates.
Most of the projectors I have used support a 1024X768 res.
Youcan also try a pram reset if it still does not detect.
Leave theproctor connected and powered up, power down the MBP.
Power back up the MBP and hold the following keys before you hear the start up chime:
Option, command, P,R (no commas) continue to hold these keys till you hear the start up chime 2 times.

  • Connecting Apple TV to an Acer H5380BD DLP Projector?

Having trouble connect Apple TV to an Acer H5380BD DLP Projector. It is currently connected with an HDMI cable to projector. I played a purchased movie once with the same HDMI cable/connection and it worked fine. The next day I tried to watch the same movie and it displayed I can't because HDMI cable issue. The same apple tv and hdmi cable work fine on our flatscreen tv but not on the projector. Any suggestion? Getting no answers from apple.

You may have better luck going through support for the projector as that is where the issue seems to lie.

  • Mac Mini and Samsung 43" DLP HDTV  gets Black Screen Only

Just bought a new Mac Mini with great anticipation for some large screen viewing.
After numerous attempts the Mini has yet to produce anything but a black image with the occasional red or white horizontal line on my 43" Samsung DLP TV. Not even a brief grey start up screen. Just permanently black.
Here's the kicker: I do get a great computer screen image on this 43" DLP TV in Mac OS 8.6 off my ten year old Macintosh PowerPC. (The trouble is it's a noisy older computer and has no bluetooth for wireless mouse & keyboard: and no Front Row with remote control)
I have the VGA cable connected to the "computer in" port on the back of the Samsung DLP TV .
This is with the exact same cable and connection that refuses to work with the Mini.
Earlier attempts at using the DVI port were unsuccessful so for now I am staying with what works on the older Mac.
    Some other things I've tried:
-with my Mini hooked up to a 17" CRT Samsung monitor I have tried all available resolution settings at 60 Hz, reconnecting to my large screen Samsung each time, producing nothing but the black screen.
I've tried turning the TV on before the Mini and vice versa
I always check to make sure the PC connection is selected on the TV
As well, I have re-installed the OS onto the Mini to eliminate any possibility of a sofware conflict from data transferred from my Emac
After consulting an Apple technical page (article 303406) regarding Black Screen issues and Mac Mini on large screen HDTVs, I went into single user mode and changed some text as specified. That did't help either
So far I have never seen a grey startup screen at all, only a totally black screen.
Someone in a recent post here or on MacMini.com touched on impedence issues with signals into VGA or DVI ports. The Mac Mini operates on low voltage. Could there be some connection to how strong a signal it produces compared to my old PowerPC with its ATI graphics card?? And just why would that make a difference
I haven't seem my particular issue addressed in this forum or on MacMini.com
    Thanks for any help
Mac Mini 1.83 Intel Core Duo 512 Mb Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Emac; 604e PPC with G3 Upgrade & ATI Video Card

Just finished testing the Mini remotely with the use of the Redstone software recommended by BSteely in a previous post. Fun Stuff.
I saw the Mini "desktop" on my Emac screen and could control it remotely, even though the mini was connected to the large screen Samsung.
But the "fix" did not progress from there. When I called Apple for further help they were not able to help me tweak my Mini. Apparently there was nothing to tweak.
A second level Apple technician finally told me (after a few calls to both Apple support and Samsung) that this Mac Mini is likely not capable of producing a screen image on my large screen Samsung.
He said the Mini supports "Coherent Displays up to 154 Megahertz and Non Coherent displays up to 135 Megahertz". On his recommendation I checked with Samsung (second tier) and they are not sure exactly what that means. Same here.
Samsung did reply that the "pixel clock (of this HDTV) is 74.2 Megahertz". Again, too technical for me.
The latest second tier Apple guy just told me said that my Samsung 43" DLP is probably not compatible with the output capability of my Mac Mini.
    Bottom line
It's all about the output capabilities of the Mini's "Intel Extreme Graphics GMA
The Mini's video output is not upgradeable like the other mac which works with this HDTV.

  • HT3382 Does the Apple MiniDisplayPort to VGA adapter allow me to connect a VGA DLP projector as a display?

I want to connect my MacBook Pro i7 that has a mini Dsiplay Port/Thunderbolt port. I want to connect it to my VGA NEC LT20 DLP Projector.
I have the Apple MiniDisplayPort to VGA adapter, MB5727Z/A, Model Number A1307 and the computer does not recognize the NEC LT20, nor does the LT20 recieve the MacBook Pro as a computer or other source.
My previous MacBook Pro core duo with DVI to VGA adapter worked fine with the projector.
Is this because the Apple  MiniDisplayPort to VGA adapter is only for computer to VGA video displays?
Is there another adapter that will allow me to use my particular VGA proejctor with my MacBook Pro?
Has my replacing the old computer with the newer one forced me to shell out big bucks to for another projector, thereby making my ability to give educational lectures for free to audiences impossible?

When you plug the projector into the computer, with the projector on, dose the computer reconize a second a 2nd display is connected?
ie: Menu bar, click on the Apple menu, chose System Preferences, click on displays, do you see an arragment tab?
if you do see an arragment tab, try clicking gather display windows. a window should pop up for the projector. What resolution is it set to? is there a lower resolution you could set?

  • Connecting brand new Mini to a Mitsubishi DLP TV

    Hi,
I was thinking of creating a little Media center setup using my Mitsubishi 1920x1080 65 inch DLP TV and a new Mac Mini, but I have know idea if it will sync up correctly and display 1920x1080?
Has anyone successfully connected these two devices together and did they sync up at the 1920x1080 resolution or did you have to step it down to some 4x3 resolution and then stretch it on the TV?
Any input would be very appreciated!!
    Thanks
    Kalagan

    Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. It's encouraging that others have successfully gotten HD TV's to sync up at 1920x1080. I tried to set this up on a friends G4 mini and Samsung TV a couple of years ago and could not get it to work.
In reference to Audio. The specs on the Mini say it has an optical/analog out, but the connector looks like a regular mini 1/8 Analog Jack. Do you need a special Apple Optical Cable to to connect the Mini, Optically to a 5.1 Receiver? Does that optical output support 5.1 or 7.1 Surround? Can that connection be split, so I can send one signal to the Receiver and another one to the TV directly, so I can use the TV without the Receiver?
    Any thoughts would be helpful.
    Thanks
    Kalagan

  • BDX1100 Blu Ray player won't connect to 50HM66 DLP TV via HDMI

Hi all.  I have been trying to connect my Toshiba BDX1100 Blu Ray player to my Toshiba 50HM66 DLP TV through the HDMI.  I have tried both HDMI 1 & 2 ports.  I have tried 3 different cables.  The Blu Ray player connects through HDMI on another TV so I don't think its the problem.  I've been through all the settings on each device and can't find anything to make it work.  I've searched and searched and read all I could find and nothing has worked, so I figured I would post here hoping to find an expert or someone experiencing similar problems.  I appreciate any feedback or advice.

  • MacBook Shutdown when using external display (DLP TV)

I have a latest gen. MacBook. I just purchased the new wireless keyboard and mouse so that I can use the computer with my HD TV with VGA input. The setup works fine in two screen mode (laptop display as well as TV). However I want to use it with the TV as the only display.
I close the laptop and wake it up via the bluetooth keyboard with the TV attached. The screen comes on as it should and works fine for 3-5 seconds. Then the computer goes back to sleep. I don't understand what's wrong. Perhaps the laptop is looking for some type of response back from the TV? The same thing works fine on my Dell monitor. The computer stays awake with the monitor as the only display and the wireless keyboard and mouse as the only inputs.
My TV is a 61" Samsung DLP with VGA input. I'm using the new apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse.
Does anyone have a similar setup that they can try this on for me? Has anyone run into the same issues?
    Thank you for your help.

One thing you've neglected to mention is whether you have the MacBook plugged into its AC adapter. The behavior you describe of the MB going right back to sleep is what happens if you try and do what your doing running from the MB battery. So check and make sure the AC adapter is connected and working.

  • "Mode not supported" freezes AppleTV Gen3 on Samsung 61in DLP.  AppleTV is ok when moved to another TV... Help me get it back online with the Samsung?

I just hooked up the AppleTV Gen3, and it worked great on my 61in Samsung DLP TV that should do 1080i.  When I looked at the resolution settings in the AppleTV menu, it said 720i.  I tried to change the resolution in the settings menu, and it came back with a message "mode not supported..."  I was able to initially get back to the menu and choose what I thought was a supported resolution (1080i), and it again displayed the same message, this time freezing the AppleTV.  I could no longer communicate with the AppleTV device although the remote was working fine.
I tried most solutions that I read on the support forums.  So far nothing has worked ie changing HDMI inputs, removing power, etc.  I moved the AppleTV to another Samsung TV, and it worked fine - and I was able to adjust the resolution.  When I returned to the orignal Samsung it again displayed the "mode not supported" menu and it remains frozen.  Any solution?  Will a reset back to factory settings help - or am I stuck?  Frustrated.  Help?

I also have not figured out how to mirrow either.  I ask you both, is the sound via the projector louder than the phone itself when projector is tuerned off?  No matter what I do the max vilume through the projector speakers is lower that the phone itself even with phone remaining installed in projector.  I am think of taking it back to try another one.

  • Problems with Thunderbolt and DLP projector

    Hello,
we are using two large Acer DLP Projectors in classrooms at the University of Liège.  These are namely an Acer P7270i and a P7280.
Our Macbook Pros (13", 15" and 17" models, late 2008 to mid-2010) equipped with DisplayPort connect flawlessly to these projectors using the Apple DP to VGA adapter.  They detect the projector's native resolution (1024*768) and everything works well.
However, this is sadly not the case with the newer Macbook Pros and MacBook Airs (11" and 13", mid-2011).  These computers are using the Thunderbolt connector.
When connecting these computers using the aforementioned DP-to-VGA adapter, no video signal is sent to the projectors.  The computer does not even detect that an external display is attached.  The Thunderbolt firmware is the latest version.  We tried with computers using 10.6.8 and 10.7.3 (always with all the latest updates installed).
These computers have been tested with several DP-to-VGA adapters, to no avail.  We even tried connecting the projector with another VGA cable, with the same results.
What is rather puzzling, is that these Thunderbolt computers do work fine when connecting to smaller portable projectors (a couple of BenQs and Acers), also using VGA.  These projectors have the same native 1024*768 resolution as the bigger models.
    Any help appreciated.
    Damien

    Hello,
a quick status update on this issue :
after applying the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.7 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1499), our 13" MacBoook Pros (mid-2011, Snow Leo 10.6.8) can now output the VGA signal to one of our two projectors (the P7270i, namely).
Same thing for the 13" MacBook Air (mid-2011, Lion 10.7.3) with EFI Update 2.4 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1497).
The other projector still doesn't recognize no signal at all coming from these Thunderbolt-equipped MacBooks.
