DM - No Playlists shown

I have DM 1.0.1 on Snow Leopard 10.6.2 with iTunes 9.0.2 and DM doesn't show any playlists.
However, its knows they are there because when I click sync, it starts to re-sync the music. I want to change with playlist it uses though.

How did you copy your library ?

  • Cannot delete playlists from iPod Video

When I connect mu iPod Video to my PC or laptop using Windows XP, my iTunes opens, my iPod is recognized yet I can't see any playlists anywhere in my iPod when connected to the computers. When I disconnect, I have 6 different playlists that I've created over time. I want to delete these as needed. They seem to be created from my "On The Go" playlist when I create one. How can I delete? I've read and followed instructions on the Help site. The biggest problem is that there are no playlists shown when I select iPod from the source list once connected. I can't try to delete if I can't see it.

To clear the entire On-the-Go playlist, on your IPOD go to Music>Playlist>On-the-Go>Clear Playlist
To remove an individual song in a On-the-Go playlist, select the song in the playlist, press and hold the center button until the song flashes.
    Hope that helps you!

  • Manual syncing into playlists in iPod

I have a 60 GB iPod and a PC with Windows XP. I can manually sync a song from iTunes into a specific playlist in the iPod. However, the song appears in the iPod playlist at the end. My question is what should I do so the song appears properly alphabetized in the iPod playlist. I need this to properly organize my iPod playlist. Also I can't sync the whole playlist from iTunes because I keep deleting songs in iTunes.
    PC   Windows XP Pro

With your iPod connected to iTunes, click on the
    playlist shown under your iPod.
Click on the column header at the extreme left where
the numbers 1,2,3 etc are. It should change colour.
Click on it until the songs are alphabetical order.
Or, drag the songs into the order you want them.
Thank you very much Jeff. My problem is solved.

  • How can I get my ipad to reflect the same playlist order that appears on my computer?

How can I get my ipad to reflect the same playlist order that appears on my computer?  My computer has the exact desired order of playlist, but once the system is synced, the ipad does not reflect the propper order.

In iTunes with your playlist shown in the correct order, right-click on the playlist name in the side-bar and click Copy to Play Order. Enable the side-bar with CTRL+S if necessary. Sync. Note also that the column you are sorting on should have the small triangle pointing upwards, otherwise the songs will play in the reverse order. You may also find that you need to first remove, and then add back the playlist to the device if syncing doesn't update it properly. See this post for more.

  • Playlist order not updating!

I have been using my iPod Shuffle for several months to listen to podcasts, among other things. I know how to drag files in the playlist so I know what will play first.
For some reason now, the playlist shown in iTunes (6.01) is NOT reflected on my iPod. This is driving me NUTS! I have tried restoring my iPod several times. After all files are copied back to the iPod, they play in some other order than the order shown in iTunes.
I know how it's SUPPOSED to work. As I said, I have been using it to listen to podcasts for several months.
Could there be a corrupt file on my system? I have had a system freeze. I have run scandisk and updated iTunes. Should I rebuild my library? What would be the easiest way to do that?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Hi Tim,
Take a look at this thread which covers this issue and explains how to set the play order:

Also, jmurray is right, podcasts always play first.
    Hope that helps,
    Sara.

  • Change Playlist song order

How can I make the songs on a playlist play in numerical order in my iPod shuffle?  They are playing in alphabetical order by song title.

The 4th (and 3rd gen) shuffle can hold multiple playlists like the other "big" iPods.  If you are looking at the main music list for the shuffle in iTunes, that is not a "playlist" (it is the shuffle's music library).  That list cannot be re-ordered like a playlist, just as you cannot re-order songs in your main iTunes music library.
If you load the shuffle manually, buy dragging songs to the shuffle, this is what you need to do.  Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  NOTE:  If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
Click the small triangle to the left of the shuffle name in the sidebar, to show its content list (indented below the shuffle).  Playlists on the shuffle appear there, on the content list.  If there are no playlists shown there, with the shuffle's name selected, click the plus sign at the bottom of the sidebar to create a new playlist.  A playlist appears on the shuffle's content list, where you can name it.
When loading the shuffle by dragging songs to it, drag the songs to this playlist.  That adds the song to the shuffle and to that particular playlist.  Since this is a playlist, you can select it and re-order the songs as desired.  When you play the shuffle, use VoiceOver to select that playlist (instead of playing from the All Songs list).  The songs will play in playlist order, if the shuffle's power switch is on the play-in-order (middle) position.

  • Playlists MUST be in alphabetical order?

I want to arrange my classical music playlists in order of the time composers were active. For example, I want Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms in that order. But playlists by default give me Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart in alphabetical order. I tried moving them like maiboxes in Apple Mail or icons in Finder or the Dock. This does work for concertos WITHIN the Mozart folder, but not for the Mozart playlist itself. I tried holding down command, option, control & shift. Nothing does it. For independent playlists, renaming them 1.Mozart, 2.Beethoven and 3.Brahms achieves the objective. But sub-folders under Apple's default "Classical Music" folder can't be renamed. iTunes Help has no entry about this. Is there a way to rearrange playlists? Advice much appreciated.

Here is something you can do. It is a bit time consuming and I don't recommend it, unless you are very anal about the way you want your playlist shown. I don't really recommend it because it can mess up your library if you have it neatly organized--but at this point I don't see another alternative.
First add all the tracks that you want on a playlist. Make sure you have added all you want before moving to the next step. Select them all, go to File --> Get info, and change the Album name for all the tracks. (eg "Josh's Classical Collection").
Once you have done this, you will change the track number for each track. This might be painfully slow according to the amount of tracks you have. Once you have done this, simply view your playlist as if it was one album and the tracks will be organized according to the track number you provided.
Hope this helps with your problem.

  • "Purchased" playlist when syncing

I have an iPod Nano (I think 4th generation) which syncs with a music library in iTunes on my iMac. All software is up to date.
When my iPod is mounted and I am in iTunes, and I select my iPod as a device, and then go to the tab Music, I see the four areas Playlists, Genres, Album and Artists where Ican choose things to be synced with my iPod.  In the Playlist box is an item called Purchased which is NOT in the list of Playlists shown in iTunes.  What is it, and why is it in the Playlists box for syncing when it is not in my Playlists as shown in iTunes?
As a more general form of this quesiton, what do I need to read in order to understand these puzzling asplects of iTunes?

See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3399264?start=0&tstart=0 -- the answer in this thread fixed it.

  • Smart playlist not showing all playlists

Since I updated to iTunes 10.4, I have notice that many of my smart playlists are corrupted. I am using smart playlist to group ordinary playlists. But today, while I was trying to edit one, I found that all my big smart playlist that contain more than roughly 5 playlist are showing almost all the conditional playlist as empty (a big horizontal bar).
If I go to manually re-select that one that are empty, I can't find them in the combo box that pop-ups, but I can see the playlist in the left side bar of the main window of iTunes.
In the picture below, you can see the _Jazz playlist. That one is OK, but what follows is a mess. First weird thing is that the first 3 playlist shown in the list are not within their respective folder. I have made red links in the picture to point where they come from in the main window list. After that, I should found in the pop-up window the entirity of the Alternative Pop/Rock folder, but I only see one playlist. Then after that, the list display the folders / playlist as it should.
Anybody know why are the smart playlist not allowing me to select my playlists anymore? I didn't have this problem a month ago.

Make sure that the Album column is showing for the playlist, and then click the Album header to sort by the album name.
If you just want to play specific albums, you will probably find it easier to turn on the Browser (View menu -> Show Browser). Then you can select an individual album and play all it's tracks, or select an artist and see (and optionally play) all album by that artist.
    Hope this helps.

  • Playlist limitation?

In iTunes 7.0.x the nano sync shows a music list with all available playlists. If selected albums are checked, the transfer is quite easy. I today noticed this list is cut under the letters TO... so it seems the number of playlists shown here is limited. Since my library is rather big (more than 25000 files and some >1500 playlists) I am forced at this time to load the nano manually...

    Hi mkummer!
As things stand, folks are reporting that playlists are limited to approx. 1100 currently.
We'll see what the future brings....

  • Playlist keep deleting

Until today I was able to drag and drop songs and podcasts I had or downloaded on my hard drive. I tried to do that this evening and had problems. When I drag the files into a new playlist they copy fine on to the ipod. However when I unplug it and plug it back into my computer everything I copied into the playlist is deleted. Any suggestions how I can resolve this issue? Do I need to reinstall itunes?
My ipod is a 5th generation 30 gig video.

  • Zen Micro Playlist Direct

Can anyone tell me what the Playlist Directory is for on the Zen Micro? I have created several playlists with the Zen Explorer and can see those lists using the Zen Explorer. However, nothing is in the Zen Micro's Playlist directory? What is this directory and how do you use it's
    Tony

Your issue is very confusing. I think what SSR is trying to say is that "Is your playlist shown in the playlist menu in the Zen Micro?"
And what you are trying to say is "Can I view the playlist on my Windows Explorer?"
You have to use Zen Micro Media Explorer to view your playlist or you can use Creative Mediasource. There is no directory that shows the playlist in Windows Explorer or on your computer. The Zen Micro doesn't act as hard dri've like how iRi'ver does. In the iRi'ver you have to configure everything on the iRi'ver or you can use WMP0.
You can also use WMP0, but I haven't tried making a playlist with WMP0 yet.
