Dm4 - 1165dx notebook hinge breaking apart?

Pavilion dm4- 1165dx notebook
Windows 7
1.5 years of usage
No history of hardware changes
Today I noticed, that when I was closing my Pavilion dm4- 1165dx notebook it started making creeky sounds near one of the hinges. So I investigated and looked in the back and noticed small little specs of black pieces were on table along with a loose silver cover hinge (this part was still attached just loose). What did I do? What should I do? How is the computer breaking down already when it's a little over a year old since I purchased it? Thanks for your help and time.

I had the same thing happen to me. I let it go for several months. From creeking and sounding weird, it progressed to have the screen freeze up and fill with lines that could be fixed by opening and closing the screen a little bit. Then near enough the second anniversary of buying the laptop, one of the hinges broke free from the plastic housing and screen. The rough plastic edges cracked the screen and I lost the picture. To replace it at that point would be more expensive than getting a quicker, faster machine.
I don't know if its a common problem, but its an expensive pain. I would listen to the other post and replace the hinges and plastic covers while you still have time to save the machine.

  • HP Pavillion M6 1010tx Left hinge breaking apart

    Hey!
So my dad bought me HP Pavillion M6 - 1010tx just over a year ago and I have been using it very very carefully. I just started noticing that the left hinge just under the screen is breaking apart. Initially I thought I might have banged it somewhere but I was sure I didn't. Upon researching a bit, I found out that it is a very common issue with these models. I have come across a lot of posts where the users have had the same issue.
I'm just wondering if it's such a common issue, is HP taking care of it? Or is there any replacement part available? I looked everywhere and the replacements parts are not available.
Any help would be really appreciated.
    Thanks

My Simplepass Software from Egis Technology was crashing.  I found that HP is supporting a newer version from Authen Tec.  I unistalled my Simplepass software and installed Authen Tec v6.0.  It doe not work properly.  Please suggest an alterative solution.  Thanks.

    Your Notebook:
HP Pavilion dm4-1165dx Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers
Your older notebook wants to run Digital Persona software and not HP SimplePass -- this is not due to the software itself but rather to the older fingerprint hardware installed in the notebook.  More specifically, the driver that controls the fingerprinter is limited and that older driver is not compatible with the "new" AuthenTec HP SimplePass program.

    Commentary
Understand that the term "new" is relative;  the AuthenTec version of the HP SimplePass program is itself, an older version of the HP SimplePass family at this point.  AuthenTec was purchased by Apple and as such disappeared as a company in its own right.
The AuthenTec people did a couple of magical things before they left:  they wrote the wonderful robust code that is the Series 6 HP SimplePass that is still used today AND they created the first of what was then called the Elkin Mini fingerprinter.
The AuthenTec people are now Apple people -- and the Elkin Mini has been brought back to us by the nice people who have provided the latest version of the HP SimplePass program:  Softex.
    The point:
You might use the AuthenTec Series 6 HP SimplePass program if you would like to also invest a few (American) dollars in the purchase of the Softex USB Mini Fingerprint Reader.  It might also be possible elsewise although I do not know a way to do it using your built in fingerprinter scanner -- I do not have a solution to the driver problem.  Someone else may have that answer.
    Possible Workaround
The USB Mini Reader plugs into a USB port on your notebook.  The USB Mini is used in place of the builtin reader on your notebook. You install (plug in) the USB Mini reader and then install the Series 6 HP SimplePass program.  The Mini fingerprint reader contains all its own drivers -- no conflicts, no driver problems.
You do have to PURCHASE the USB Mini fingerprint Reader.  This is not a free upgrade -- the product is not something from HP, not guarenteed by HP, not serviced by HP.  This purchase is Your choice.
The Mini works with the AuthenTec Series 6 version of HP SimplePass AND it works with the newer versions of the Series 8 HP SimplePass program that ship with the new HP notebooks.
Disclaimer:  I do not work for Apple nor for HP.  I never worked for AuthenTec.  I do own several of these Mini readers and I have used them on several notebooks and two Desktops running Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1.
The instructions to install SimplePass plus a link to Softex Mini Fingerprint Reader (on page 20):
    Instructions to Update HP SimplePass
Use the Section to "Upgrade" SimplePass.   Essentially you would purchase the fingerprint reader, plug it in, and then extrapolate the rest of the instructions starting on Page 5:
Procedure - Update / (Re) Install HP SimplePass
NOTE:  Be sure you stick with Series 6 HP SimplePass -- ignore the bits about Series 8; in this case, "new" is not going to be better for you.

  • Lenovo Y50 still have the hinge breaking problem?

Do anyone know if the Lenovo Y50 is still having the screen display hinge breaking or exploding from the base problem?

My Laptop has just started falling apart about a month after my warranty ended (of course) here is my list of problems that have been happening since my warrenty ended. 1. The part that the screw actually screws into the part that holds the hinge to the laptop has broken off so my screen is being held on by 1 screw very scary as it could fall of any minute. 2. The plastic piece that covers the hinge will pop off everytime I open my laptop and makes a horrible cracking sound when I have to keep opening my laptop to snap back the plastic piece so that I can use my laptop. I am now using scotch tape to fix this for now very embarrasing when gaming with my friends. 3. I have been slowly losing screws on the bottom of my laptop to hold the whole thing togeather I am now down to 8 out of the 12 that are supposed to be there. A screw just recently fell off and it happend to be the last screw that was holding my screen to the laptop so I had to swap some screws around so that my screen was being held on by something. I was looking for a quality gaming laptop I could take to college and I will be heading off to college in a month!  I would not sugguest this laptop and will probably never purchase a lenovo product again as this seems to be a somewhat common problem.

  • Premier 3.02 crashes when breaking apart transferred slide show

Following the instructions in a reply on the PS Elements forum, when I right click on the scene transferred from PSE to Premier Elements and right click in the menu to break apart the slide show for additional editing, after receiving a "low system memory" warning Premier eventually crashes. The error message is "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe PE to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
    I'm running PE 3.02
    Vista Business
    3.00GB RAM
Video card AT1 Radeon HD 3450
    54.3 GB free disc space
No browser or Outlook is open and have even closed PS Elements before trying to break apart the Premier scene slide.
I have had no problems, warnings, or crashes constructing a 30 minute slide show in PS Elements.

    Gina,
    >Open Premiere then try to begin my project in from Photoshop and get the same issue. The message from Windows says shut down due to serious error.
It is not clear to me WHEN the failure occurs in this scenario. Does Premiere Elements start up OK? Can you open a new project in Premiere Elements? And does it then fail when you have do the Send of the Slideshow from Premiere Elements?
Or like the original poster on this thread, does it fail only when you attempt to Break Apart the slide show?
And also - have you deleted or moved or renamed any of the photo files or video files included within that slide show?
A more general question - have you previously done any projects successfully in Premiere Elements?

  • I Can No Longer Break Apart Clip Items??

For some reason, I can no longer drag a clip from the browser to the main timeline, then lift and then proceed to break it apart into a video and seperate audio tracks. I was doing this all the time, but now this option seems to have disappeared. I tried repairing permissions... I can access the components of the clip with the "open in new timeline" option after dragging down the maintimeline and lifting, but that still doens't explain why I can't choose or shortcut to break it apart in the main timeline, when lifted, anymore??? Anyone else having this issue?
    Thanks,
    Dustin

Dustin, let me know if I haven't understood your post correctly.
You create a new project and set the frame rate to 23.98P
The media in your Events is 30P
From what I understand, your saying that if you drop a 30P clip in a 23.98P project, your unable to Break Apart Clip Items..?
    Works perfectly fine for me.

  • Why Will Synced clips not break apart on the timeline?

I have created a number of synced clips in the evnt browser, and added them to my timeline. Now if i try to break aprt the synced clips on my timeline, it no longer allows me to in FCP X 10.0.9. What gives?

I can't reproduce this. I tried a few synchronized clips, and Clip->Break Apart Clip Items worked as expected.

  • Breaking Apart Images and Bitmaps in Color Panel

When I break apart a bitmap and use the eyedropper to sample
it and then fill in a shape, I notice that the bitmap also stays in
the color panel as a bitmap. Will this become a permanent part of
my Flash installation or is it only accessible for this file? I
opened a new file and it did not seem to appear for it. I just want
to make sure I understand the purpose of it displaying in the color
panel. What is the point of this?
    Thanks.

Not sure I totally understand - the point is so you can pick
this swatch "color" again in this
document. If you delete the bitmap from the document's
library it will go away. If you open a new
doc it won't be there because the new doc doesn't contaqin
    any imported/broken apart/color-picked
    bitmaps.
I have to ask, what were you expecting to happen with this
particular swatch? Or rather, is there a
better workflow solution for you perhaps? Just curious.

  • Quality of Image after Break apart

When breaking apart an image, there is sort of a 'residue'
attached to some parts where the image has connected.
Problem is explained with a picture below.
    Picture
The image was imported from a Photoshop CS3 document which
can be found here for you reference.
    Link
As you can see in the PSD there is no 'residue'.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

    Hi,
How did you import your image into Flash. Some times this
happened in the crossed sections of the PDS layers, try to expert
your layers from photoshop as PNGs.

  • "Break Apart" in Premiere Pro CS6?

I created a title and then duped it. Now I want these two titles to say different things, but position and style to say the same. That's not happening. When I change the wording, it changes automatically in both places. Is there a way to do something like "break apart" in Flash?
    Thank you.

    Jim,
    I agree completely.
When discussing the Titler and Instances of Titles (as opposed to Title Based On... ), I cite an example using the old cinema Western Title, "Meanwhile back at the ranch," used many times in a Project. Imagine having typed "Meanwhile back at the raunch," and having dozens of Instances of that Title with the typo. One quick change to any would correct that in all Instances.
Once a user gets their head around Title Instances vs discrete Titles (though Based On other Titles), it's easy to work with the Titles, at least for me.

  • Div layout breaks apart

I have created a CSS div layout contained within an overall
div so I can syle layout to a fixed width.
I have styled container "overflow: hidden" but internal divs
    still break apart in IE.
I have reduced px width of center content div but that makes

  • Air for ios optimization with bitmap break apart

    Hi,
I'm developing an ios game with Flash CS5.5, and tries to optimize it as much as possible. I use bitmaps and GPU, but there is one thing I haven't found an answer to. I'd like to fill a background with bitmap tiles. An easy way (for me) to achieve this, is to just break apart the bitmap tile and use the eyedropper tool to fill out the desired background area, but I believe this turns the bitmap into a shape. Do you know if this would be bad when it comes to optimizing? Should I instead lay out the tiles side by side without breaking them apart?

I did check for that, and rechecked just now, and they're all unscaled.  Plus, the code shows the correct dimensions and the issue doesn't exist on the computer - screenshots from the computer and the ipad don't match.  It's only the ipad that's showing the distortion.
There must be something wrong with the fla or the ipa.  I created a new fla and tested the same code with just one image and there's no distortion.  I'll try creating a new fla.
    Thanks!

  • Filters gone after using "breaking apart" command

    Hi there,
I spent quite a bit of time enhancing my video with filters. Then I used the "Break apart" command (Cmd-Shift-G) on some clips in order to be able to work on the audio tracks separately on those clips. Strangely those clips seem to have lost their video filters! I think this is terrible. Any advice? TY.
    André Vanasse

Permanetly gone I'm afraid.... I learned the hard way too. When you break apart a compound clip, you are basically destroying it, not just "opening" it up. you have to double click it to "dive in" to the clip. I realize theres times when this isn't a good enough solution, only work around I have is to copy the clip before you destroy it, make your changes, then remake a compound clip and then "Paste Effects" this kinda does what your looking for. good luck!
