DMA reverts to PIO for HD. How to fix?

Hi,
One of my disks has reverted to PIO. It's a WD1600BJ UDMA5 capable drive.
The drive is just fine. No errors. Trust me.
Due to the nature of WinXP it's impossible to revert to DMA from PIO without doing some nifty deleting in the registry. I used to be able to fix this on HD devices as described at: http://www.michna.com/kb/WxDMA.htm
However Nvidia in their questionable wisdom does not use these entries, and deleting the "Timing" folders in the registry and rebooting does not help one iota.
Trying to change the settings in the Device Manager/NVIDIA MCP2S Parallel ATA Controller v2.6 Properties is just plain insulting. It doesn't work. It will revert to PIO on next boot as long as WinXP has once marked the drive for downgrading.
I've found no answers to this problem in these or other similar forums nor by googling.
This situation is really p***ing me off. This was never an issue with other chipsets like e.g. VIA.
Please let there be someone who knows how to fix this.

Deleting the driver and rebooting did not work. Still PIO.

The HD is fine. SMART is enabled and I just ran DLGDIAG extended test again and everything is peachy peach. The disk and cables are just fine.
The event viewer reports this several times since yesterday:
"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\D."
The only thing that changed yesterday was that I added a WD2000JB on that parallel ATA chain.
I will have a look-see if the jumpers are correct. As I understand it the preferred sequence is Master on the first and Slave on the last port. However I didn't think it would detect the drives if the jumpers were incorrect?
I've also experienced problems with booting as the BIOS tries to detect IDE devices.
Sometimes it takes forever, and when I just press the reset button all IDE devices are detected in a snap. I boot from a striped set of WD360GD Raptors on the SATA controller, by the way.

Resume from standby does NOT ask for password--how to fix?

On my X240, when I resume from standby, I am NOT being asked for my password. But I want to.
In Power Manager, in Events, I keep setting Require password on standby resume to yes, but the computer comes out of standby when I touch the keyboard, without asking for my password.
NB I work with the laptop closed, and docked in a Targus dock. Under AC settings, for the lid closed event, I have set it to Do Nothing

Pardon a silly question, but is it actually resuming from standby or just re-activating the display? By that I mean that the screen is blank but the laptop isn't yet in standby mode.
How do you have the screen blank and standby timers set and how do they compare to the times that you observe the problem?

Increasing the size of the redo logfile size may reduce the number of switches as it takes time to fill the file up but your system's redo generatin will stil be the same. Reduce the frequent commits.
Use the following notes to further narrow down the possible root cause.

Windows 8.1 breaks i-Cloud for Outlook - How to fix it

I updated my computer to Windows 8.1 last night. This morning, I found that Outlook could no longer read the i-Cloud calendar and contacts. My system is running Office 2010 64 bit with Windows 8 professional upgraded to 8.1.
Here's the fix:
1) Log out of i-Cloud using the control panel on your computer.
2) Uninstall the i-Cloud control panel.
3) Restart the computer.
4) Re-install i-Cloud control panel.
5) Log in to the control panel using your Apple ID and password.
6) Select to share Contacts Calendars and Tasks with i-Cloud.
I got back all of my information that I was able to access only from my phone after going through this process. Step 1, log out of i-cloud before uninstalling the control panel, is necessary to avoid loosing any data.

My iPhoto library just reverted to an old library: how can I find and re-access my current library? I opened my iPhoto, and got the message that it needed to "update" to use this library. I thought maybe there had been a software update since I last opened the program (2 days ago). The library it opened was saved in a file on the desk-top. My current file was just in iPhoto. Please help!

Best option: Restore from your back up.
Otherwise:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Check your system date & time is correct.
Run the System File Checker: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
If you still have problems try a creating a new user account with administrator rights, log into it, and attempt the install from there.

I did a little research on this, as I found some strange things with the .plist files.
It appears that Apple has changed the way that the plist files are handled, and there is now an extra step in the trashing-the-.plist-file fix:
1. hold down the option key
2. in the Go menu in the Finder, scroll down to Libary
3. in Library, find Preferences
4. in Preferences, find com.apple.desktop.plist and drag it to the trash.
5. go to Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor
     1. Sort by Process Name and look for two processes named cfprefsd.
     2. Make sure you select the one that has your user account, not "root", listed as the User.
     3. Click the X up at the top left to kill that process
5. restart
6. this will generate a new .plist file, so you will have to reenter your preferences.

Multiple user accounts are not.
If you are saying you would like to have one set of apps, media, etc
for work and a different set for home, and switch between the 2
depending on network login or location, this is not a feature of iOS.

I recently had iTunes crash on my home PC, Windows 7 64-bit. I have tried several attempts to uninstall and reinstall the program and it still does not work and I receive error messages. The latest: The program can't start because ApplePushService.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem. Problem is, the articles that I have seen state this is an Unknown source and my firewall will not allow it to be installed. The original error was a Windows Error 7 (registry & .dll issues). Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

See my requirement is need to setup in "A new custom field on the Line Item to hold the predefined values like: Max, Mini and Average for a sales Contract in the "SAP CRM Standalone", in the sense I need to create one new custom field for sales contact transaction,
So for that I tried to fix up EEWC (Maintain System Landscape) in the "sandbox" (SAP CRM Standalone) but every time I got an error like: User's System is not entered correctly, before go to EEWB we need to fix up EEWC right.
SO could you please guide me how to add a new custom field for a transaction in SAP CRM, how to fix up EEWC and EEWB,

This seems like the EEWC setting issue. Please check if you have maintained the following entries in the transaction 'EEWC'.
Two records need to be maintained in this transaction. One entry for CRM (Self Reference) and another for ECC ( RFC reference)

Syst. Type: <CRM>
Role: <Dev>
Logical System: <Your CRM System ID>
RFC Destination: <Leave Blank>
Namespace: <Z>

To know your system ID and RFC destinations, check the transaction 'SM59' or contact the BASIS person in your team.
Once you are done with maintaining these values, try to use the EEWB all over again in the same way as you mentioned.
