DMA2200 video playback skip pauses with Windows 7

Had DMA2200 connected to Vista Media center and all was working fine.
Have upgraded to Windows 7 and when playing back recorded TV and trying to skip forward or back it has big pauses. Playback will stop for about 10 sec and often when it starts again there is no sound for a further 10sec.
Have tried playing back wma file and its better but still not perfect.
DMA2200 is connected via 100MBit cable network.
Have updated firmware to v1.1.12
Any ideas?

Maybe its a network performance counter problem on the PC, Microsoft posted an article on how to fix it but the Operating System was Vista. So, I'm not sure if the steps below will work on a Windows 7 operating system.
Microsoft KB937609
here are the steps
1. On the Media Center computer, click Start and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
2. In the Programs list, right-click cmd, and then click Run as administrator.
3. At the command prompt, type cd %windir%\system32, and then press ENTER.
4. Type Lodctr /R, and then press ENTER.
5. Wait until you receive the following message, and then type exit:
Info: Successfully rebuilt performance counter setting from system backup store
6. Restart the computer, and then reconnect the Extender.
Aside from that, I think meegosh is right. The DMA2200 was designed for Vista and not for Windows 7.
Cheers.

  • Video playback skips/stalls

    Greetings all.
    Bit of a mystery here.
I have a Late 2009 iMac that I occasionally use Win7 on via Boot Camp for gaming.
I have iTunes installed so I can watch Movies/TV Shows from my library (served via iTunes running on 2012 i7 Mac Mini).
When playing any video in Windows 7 with iTunes (SD/HD), it stutters, skips and eventually stalls.
The curious issue is when booted into OS X, I can play the same video in iTunes with no problem.
I have attempted the fix in the KB article related to iTunes/Windows 7 video playback.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1718
(disable Direct3D accel/Disable DirectX in QuickTime)
    The iMac specs are:
i7, 16GB RAM, 2TB HDD, 512MB Radeon 4850M, 1Gbit wired ethernet to same switch as Mini
    OS X 10.8.5
    Windows 7 64-bit, SP1
    Thanks!

    Ok, did some further experimentation.
The same movie plays perfectly on:
My iMac (OS X), 13" MBP (OS X), iPhone 5S, iPad 2, iPad Mini, 2 AppleTVs
It will NOT play on the iMac (Windows 7) or the MacBook Pro (Windows 7) using iTunes 11.1.1
The two machines CAN play the same .m4v file outside of iTunes (using VLC) perfectly.
    The problem is absoutely iTunes.

  • Burning Videos from iPhone/iTunes with Windows Movie Maker?????

How can I burn videos that I take on my 3GS iPhone and than sync to my PC/iTunes with Windows Movie Maker? When I attempt to load or drag the video file into movie maker it give me an error message due to the file type is not supported. Any suggestions or points in the right direction would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

This is because iTunes Store purchases and in a protected file format, so you won't be able to directly convert them from the protected file into something that Windows movie maker could read.
As the previous poster said, you can try burning the files to a CD, then importing the CD again. I think that ought to work.

  • V570 video driver not working with windows 7 home premium 64 bit

i have tried many ties instaling the video card driver from the lenovo support site for my v570, after install and reboot , blue dump screen appears and i've to restore the windows. so far i'm running without the vga driver. someone pls help to resolve this issue

I have been battling with this issue as well for several weeks now. I have gone as far as to try Windows 7 professional 64-bit, downloading the driver from numerous locations, reformatting the computer several times, and attempting to install it on an SSD as well as a standard hard drive. I finally decided to call Lenovo and just got off the phone with them... At first, the representative advised me that it was because I installed Windows professional 64-bit instead of the home premium version that came with the computer. I advised them that I was not willing to except that answer and that I disagreed with it (not to mention that at one point had it up and running with Windows 7 64-bit professional). The following response that I was given is to pay either $179 for ongoing support or to pay $90 for a one-time support issue. This is unbelievably frustrating the computer is not even six months old, I have never run into issues like this before, and let's just say this isn't my first barbecue so I know what I'm doing. Simply out of principle, I am now considering getting rid of this thing and going back to Asus... So tired of dealing with this garbage.

  • Apple TV video playback stutters - even with SD

    Hi,
i don't know what i am doing wrong, but i have some serious video playback troubles with my new atv:
All files start to play fine, but somehow - like every few seconds - the movie seems to stuck for a very short time - just an eyeblink. it looks quite the same when you play a HD Movie on a computer and the CPU is not really capable of playing back this files...
it doesn't matter if the video files are on the internal drive or streamed over wlan - same problem...
i'll tried lots of different software for the video converting: visual hub, handbrake, quicktime pro... always the same problem...
The strange thing is - all apple trailer movies playback just fine!!! even in HD - smooth as butter...
    Please help me!
    Thanks - Matt
    my setup:
    Apple TV 2.3:
    720p - 60Hz
    TV:
    Samsung Le-40a557p2 LCD-TV
Sound via optical cable from aTV:
    Sony DAV-IS 50

Assuming you're using conservative video encoding and not pushing things to the limit, I'd say something is probably amiss with the AppleTV.
If you were just streaming I'd look at the network first of all, but you say it hapens with synced files too.
Assuming you've pulled the plug and rebooted at some stage, I think I'd do a system restore (which will delete all media so make sure any purchases are transferred first), and if it was still an issue, then I'd get the new AppleTV replaced.
Occasional glitches happen but they shouldn't happen all the time.

  • I want to use iChat video and file sharing with Windows users

Nowadays, iChat is compatible with AOL/AIM, Google Talk, Jabber, Mac.com and MobileMe instant messaging services. I know that Yahoo Messenger support will be available soon in Mac OS X Lion.
I tried using AOL/AIM and Google Talk natively in iChat in order to talk with Windows users which were using Google Talk application or web chatting (Me from: Google Talk - My friends from:  Google Talk, and Me from: AOL/AIM - My friends from:  Google Talk), but videoconference and file sharing were not available.
I also tried Windows Live Messenger in iChat via Jabber intermediate, but it is not efficient and doesn't work for videoconference and file sharing.
So, which IM service combination I should use to chat with Windows users in order to be able to use videoconference and file sharing using such a great app like iChat?
    Thanks you.

    Hi,
A lapsed Trial or lapsed Paid for MobileMe account will not work in any fashion, as a Screen Name in iChat/AIM apps or as a Email.  (Of course it is no longer an Valid Apple ID either).
Given that Google is a Jabber server iChat will Video (or Audio Only) Chat Jabber to Jabber.
With a Valid AIM name (AIM, MobileMe or @mac.com) then it is supposed to work to AIM on a PC
This tends to vary from person to person as to success.
From AIM version 6.5 AIM introduced a Send as Typing feature called "Real Time"
It does not work to iChat and in fact also has to be turned Off in the Buddy List at the AIM end for Video or Audio chats to work.
The AIM app also has to be allowed through the Windows Firewall as an Exception, preferably with UPnP enabled as well and UPnP enabled in their Router.
Trillian is a paid for App for PCs that provide an alternative.
Recently theri site offered 3 windows versions
The Pro version of verion 3.2 (known to work), a version 4 and a version 5 in beta.  The version 3.2 used to have a free Text chat version and only the Pro version was needed to Video.
Until the site was reorganised the 3.2 version was "On Sale" at a reduced price.
It seems version 5 is now out of beta
They are still separating out a Pro version.
    It is a multi-service client
There is also a Mac version although I have not tried it.
I am not sure what you mean by "Manage" your MSN Contacts.
How about using a MobileMe expired account screen name for using iChat with Windows-Google Talk users? Should I expect the same incompatibilities?
I have already addressed part of this. The fact the name will not work full stop.
However one way of reading this is that you are thing of linking AIM and Jabber (Google) Buddies in one Buddy List
Directly in iChat this cannot be done - unless you are the one with the Jabber Account and an AIM Transport set up.
You would be subject to the same Text Chat only restrictions.
It is a bit like the fact your phone line can be used for Fax, Telephone and DSL broadband. (in fact mine does TV as well)
You granny would not be able to talk to your Fax machine if that happened to answer the call.
Her Fax machine might be able to communicate with your computer if you had an active Fax app on there, and a dail-up modem active to answer.

  • Best video format for sharing with windows users

I've tried many ways to share videos with different clients, they mostly have windows computers (and windows media player I guess). I tried .mov (H.264) and mp4 (also H.264) from final cut pro X, but also from Compressor. I also did some test exporting Apple ProRes and then converting them with Mpeg streamclip, or even with Adobe Media encoder. Same problem, windows does not see these videos. I finally had to use a mov to wmv converter, but the final quality is really bad. Or upload the videos to vimeo, and then share the link (but I haven´t got a plus account, so I guess what I´m doing is not allowed, and i have only 500 mb per week). I believe that windows media player can be updated to open these phootage, but I cannot explain that to my clients.
Which would be the most compatible video format to share with clients?
Which paramaters should I take care of while exporting them?
    Thanks!
    Pablo

You should be able to export as H.264... I'm going to guess that your problem might not be the video -- it might be the audio. The audio track should be converted to AAC. Try exporting H.264 directly from FCPX. From Share > Export File (you might need to add that destination) > Settings > Video Codec > H.264 (audio should automatically change to AAC.)  If you export as ProRes and transcode from another app, they might not be converting the audio for compatibility (LinearPCM/AIFF is not an "expected" audio format with h264/mp4, or even WMV, etc.)

  • Video Playback Skipping After Updating Memory Storage

I am currently using a Macbook from 2006, originally running on OS X Tiger but upgraded to OS X Snow Leopard back in 2009. That switch worked fine, no problems. Recently, in an attempt to make my macbook faster, I upgraded the Memory storage. This is my systems original hardware specs:
      Model Name: MacBook
      Model Identifier: MacBook1,1
      Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
      Processor Speed: 2 GHz
      Number Of Processors: 1
      Total Number Of Cores: 2
      L2 Cache: 2 MB
      Memory: 1 GB
      Bus Speed: 667 MHz
      Boot ROM Version: MB11.0061.B03
      SMC Version (system): 1.4f12
I upgraded the Memory from 1 GB to 2 GB as was recommended by Crucial.com. Since the upgrade, any time I watch videos on my computer, the video freezes, skips and/or the audio cuts in and out. I've since switched my Memory back to 1GB and still encounter the same issues. Aside from stating the obvious -- yes I know it's an old computer and I'm due for a computer upgrade in general -- is there a way to improve this video playback issue? Or is the other hardware in my Macbook so dated that the Memory upgrade is too powerful for my computer to maintain? Any serious feedback is much appreciated.

The memory upgrade isn't too powerful, and Snow Leopard should run ok in 2gb of ram. Video takes a lot of resources, try to not have anything else running when you watch video and see if that helps.  Are you trying to watch online videos or are these videos stored on your hard drive or a DVD? You might try running Activity Monitor to see if something is running in the background using up valuable resources
Using Activity Monitor to read System Memory and determine how much RAM is being used (OS X Mountain Lion and earlier)
MAkesure that both sticks of memory are being recognized and also make sure that your hard drive isn't getting too full.

  • Video playback skips as user, fine as root

    The title says it all.
mplayer playbacks video well as root but skips as user.
xine on the other hand skips too much frames both as root and user.
That's regardless of any video driver I use ( vesa or i810)
Tried also "mplayer -xv vo" but video still skips as user.
Note that user is added to video group

    Problem solved.
Followed the "Smooth playback" part in this article

    Thx to kenneth on #archlinux.
xine is still badly skipping, but mplayer is just fine.

  • Video grabbing and interaction with windows

    hi, few questions...
is there any way to work with the usb camera or any video device, even if it does not have a api/sdk ... something like Windows Image Acquisition ??
can i write code that interacte with windows events ?? i mean a program that in case of click on the desktop will do something ??
    it would really really help
    Jaimon

I'd think that Java is not exactly the language you need... I'm sure you can do much more in VC++. Java's point is having as little to do with the OS as possible; you won't get around using native code.

  • ITunes playback skips, pauses and distorts

Recently I haven't been able to use my itunes for playback through my desktop because the songs pause and skip, and in some cases I get loud distortion or static. Previously it had been working fine for 18 months. I deleted the program and downloaded it afresh: the first song was OK but then the problem recurred. My operating system is XP. Can anybody suggest a solution?
Other programs on the computer are working normally although possibly a bit slower than they were. Are there viruses or other nasties which attack iTunes in particular?
    PC generic   Windows XP

Problem was with iTunes libary (xml) file and not Firefox. Once I rebuilt my library from scratch, iTunes no longer skipped.

  • Video Playback in Bridge preview Window is Horrible

As far as I can remember, I've always had this problem in Bridge.  All videos have horrible playback.  The video is choppy and stutters and the audio is not in sync.  It doesn't matter what format the video is in, although I have noticed that videos shot with my Canon AVCHD and converted to .mp4 format are worse.  But overall there is no video format I've tried that does not stutter.  All these videos play fine in Quicktime or any other video player.
I have CS5 design suite and a brand new 6-core Mac Pro, with 24GB of RAM and a ATI Radeon 5770, the problem is definitely not my system. What gives? I'd really like to get this fixed so I can preview my videos in Bridge. Its the easiest place to view multiple videos but I cant do that because of how bad the playback is.  I've tried changing the few playback settings in preferences and it did not help at all.
    Anyone else have this problem?

I am not a Mac user, I use Windows, however,  Bridge is Bridge no matter what the OS.
It is my understanding that Bridge does not have a video engine.  It uses Quicktime as the default.  If you right click on the video what default program is listed?  Try changing the default program and see if you get better results.  My .mov video has Windows Media Player as the default and they play just fine.  I realize this is a Windows program, but try VLC or some other program.  With your machine you should get supurb results.  Also, check the video card settings as this has more to do with playback than Bridge settings.
Here is a tidbit on the black frame issue I copied from another thread.  Hope it is enlightning.   "One of the reasons for the lack of display of a thumbnails is that the CODEC (the encoding/decoding module, used to create the file) is not usable by Adobe programs to display the initial image. Next, many AV files begin with black video, and Dip-to-Black (translated as Fade-from-Black here). If they get just an icon, it's the former. If they get a black Frame for the thumbnail, it's the latter."
Also, I don't think you can just rename the extension from .mov to .mpg.  What you can do is take the .mov and convet it to mpg or some other format.  Try this and see how it plays.

  • Playback Skipping Problems with iTunes 7.3 or later - Resource Hog?

Audio playback on my computer was fine on all versions of iTunes upto and including version 7.2. The problem started when Apple released iTunes 7.3 (for the iPhone - which I don't have). Audio playback was fine if iTunes was the only program running. But if I was also using another program - like a simple 3d game or even just using the lasso tool in Photoshop - then playback sk..sk..skipped constantly. So I closed iTunes and tested my music library on Windows Media Player 11 with other programs running and audio playback was consistently good - no skipping at all. But I'd rather not use Windows Media Player if iTunes can work properly! I suspected that iTunes 7.3 had become a resource hog. When iTunes 7.4.2 was released I was hoping that the problem would be solved. It wasn't. So I uninstalled iTunes 7.4.2, re-installed iTunes 7.2 (the last version that worked) and audio playback (with other programs running) is great again. So I don't think the problem has arisen from installing any other programs. My question is : WHAT THE **** HAVE APPLE DONE TO iTUNES since version 7.2?! Please help, because I don't want to be stuck with this version and never be able to update!

    anybody?

  • Video playback causing problems with SBLi

I have a Sound Blaster Li've! x-Gamer, and a NVidia GeForce2MX400 video card. In my old system (Win98SE, PIII) they worked great. I've installed them in a new system (XP SP2, P4), and am having problems when playing back video files or DVD's. As soon as the movie starts I get static and pops from my soundcard. I've stripped the audio from my AVI files and played them separately, both mp3 and wav and have no problem. As soon as I introduce the video to the mix, it craps out again. I've run several different players (WMP 0, NERO ShowTime), and get the same problem. It also happens during games. I have turned the hardware acceleration down on both cards with no effect. Help please!!

<OMG !! I've got the same problem (isn't the most using sentence on this forum?)
OK for serious i've got similar problem
    Now i've got: SB Audigy Platinium (model SB0090), Ati Radeon X800 XT ICEQ2 (256MB GDDR3 - rulez!), P4 3,00GHz, ,0GB RAM, motherboard Abit IC-7 v., Windows XP HE SP2.
On my old system (motherboard Albatron(intel PX865PE), XP HE SP2 or XP Me, Intel Celeron 2.0GHz, Radeon 9550) everything was alright.
What's wrong: <FONT color=#3366ff>during playing video files or DVD's (any kind of player) everything is alright until i do something with my voice volume (increase, decrease) then ofcourse sound goes increase or decrease but when i STOP, PAUSE, MOVE SLIDER FORWARD or BACKWARD on the player then my sound goes back to the volume i start watching the movie. Even when i turn off the sound and do any of actions mentioned below on my player, the sound also goes back to the volume i start watching the movie and i have to move the volume slider to the desired effect again.
Ok i can get used to it (and i almost did) but (!):
<FONT color=#3333ff>During playing mp3, wav, etc i don't have this problem with volume slider but my system boot up itself. I'm listenig the music and BUM! my computer suddenly restart (it's annoying - u know grhgrh).
I try to turn off my SB Audigy in my system properties and turn on my onboard RealTek AC'97 and everything was okey. I got this problem only with my SB Audigy. I could use my onboard RealTek AC'97 but let it face - the sound it's not so good (or maybe i'm wrong?)
<FONT color=#3300cc>Can anyone help me with this? ..::P.L.E.A.S.E::..
And one more question - no one could find answer for this question since october last year?!
