DML on multiple tables in one Page
Hi,
Requirement is there are 6 tables.
Depends on the input parameter we need to perform DML operations on the tables.
Is there any way to build VO(Based on EO) dynamically linked to a table and performs DML.
If this is possible we pass table name as parameter, and perform DML on that Table.

Hi,
You can create a PL/SQL procedure for performing DML operating and your logic inside that.
Later you can use CallableStatement to execute that procedure.

Hello,
I am building an application that handles hardware inventory (APEX 4.0). I have an input page that adds data to two or more tables all at once. The page has two forms on it that point to two separate tables. However when I try to run the page, it fails and returns an error:
ORA-06550: line 1, column 437: PL/SQL: ORA-00904: "ORH_LAST_UPDATE_DATE": invalid identifier ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
Error Unable to process row of table IDD_ID_DATA.
So far as i can see within the App, that column is not at issue (I am not even doing anything to it and it is nullable). I have looked into the App itself as well as doing some online research but have found nothing helpful...
So my question is this: Is it possible to add to multiple tables from one page? If so how do I do it?

I received an email from the APEX Support Team:
"The simple answer is that you will need to manually code the DML (and query) processes if you wish to maintain multiple tables from one page (There is a limit of one table when using the built-in processes).
In order to do this I suggest you delete the processes generated by the wizards and create PL/SQL processes with insert, update, delete statements as necessary. Such coding is not difficult but is more time consuming than when you can use built-in processes."
I have been playing around with PL/SQL code and the end result is this:

I used this code in a custom PL/SQL Process in the Processing>Processes section of Page Processing and it seems to work fine now. The only downside to this method is if the name of a Page Item is changed the code will also have to be changed. Other than that i have had no problems. -
Update multi tables in one page
I need to create a page that allow users to update ( no insert, no delete) 2 tables 1 view.
home page users enter a record_no, then I pass the rec_no to p2 which has 3 regions. Each region points to one table\view respectively. All tables\view are linked by a same rec_no. Each region has a form on table with buttons: cancel,save.
This works fine with only one region but When I start putting 2nd region,
following issues arise
1. data only display on most recently added region( form), it won't display on both regions
2. when I click apply changes (save) on region 1, it erros on both regions that have not null columns. I think this is because it can't tell the difference on the button that I press.
Is it possible to achieve this goal: update multiple tables in one page ? What is the best way to do it ?
I don't want to use form with a report because it has extra page to go through.Ultimate goal is to make all regions Hide and show, so data won't clog whole screen if user has no need to see all at once. Is creating a view of these 3 tables\view the way to go ?
Can you help ? My brain is fried now.

I understand your frustration. Sometimes, something that should seem easy turns out to be so difficult. In this case, what you can do is this:
1. Get rid of the buttons in the second and third region. You can drive your updates all from only one set of buttons.
2. Set a condition on your update button that it only do the update if all three regions data have been filled in - that is - the fields you need are NOT NULL.
Sometimes, I have actually created a separate region called "Buttons" and that is all that resides there. When I have multiple regions on a screen that need input, I won't do any of the updates until all areas have been populated.
As for hiding/displaying the various regions based on your user's need to see them, you can also set conditional display on the region so the user won't see them if they don't need to.. And/or use the hide/show region template.

Hi,
I am trying to create multiple forms based on different tables on ONE page. But some how I get errors in the Automatic process (fetch,insert, and update) which gets created when you create a form.
The tables i am using have some common colomn_name but i when creating form i am not including those columns.
For eg. all my table have create_by,update_by column but i am not add these columns in the form as they are updated by the DB trigger.

Update multiple records on one page php/mysql
Hi folks,
I am trying to adapt a page to offer the option to update multiple records on one page.
The intention is to edit FAQ categories which are contained in a table with just two fields - the category and an id.
The page lists each categories in a form with a submit button which is then repeated for each record in the recordset.
Unfortunately my plan didn't work and only the first record updates as intended.
Can anyone suggest how I can make it work?

BalajiYou really don't enter identical data into 2 tables. You enter dat into one single table, and then you have an unique identifier that maps to another table (you have a unique relationship between two tables).

Think about it this way... What is you update data in 2 tables, and then the data in one of those tables changes, but the data in the other table does NOT change. WHOOPS!! Now, you've got a BIG problem. For instance, you have a customer
named Bill Gates. In one Table you update Bill's address to 1835 73rd Ave NE, Medina, WA 98039 and in the other table you accidentally update Bill's address to 183 73rd Ave NE, Medina, WA 98039. Now you have 2 addresses for Bill. Why would
you want that??? Which is right? No one knows. If you have one address, you just have to update one address and if there is a mistake, you just have to update one address, but you don't have to waste time trying to figure out which is right
and which is wong...and then update the one that is wrong.

How to keep a table on one page

Is there any way to prevent a pagebreak in a table?
If a table is selected, then the Inspector-Text-More-Pagination&Pagebreak is grayed out.
I tried Inspector-Wrap-Object Placement-Floating, which indeed keeps the table on one page, but has all kinds of nasty side-effects. I really need to keep the table inline.

In the Wrap Inspector, change the Table's property from Inline to Floating. Now you can position it on the following Page and avoid the split. Be careful though, because now you are fully responsible for the table position on the page and it will not split even if it grows larger than a page in length.

Importing CSV files into Multiple Tables in One Database
I have a web based solution using Microsoft SharePoint and SQL Server that is created to centralize dat collection and reporting of program metrics used in montly reviews.
A person from each program enters dat manual or by pushing the data using automated data import tools. The user then is able to generate reports and provide presentations to their stakeholders.
There are are programs that are located in US and 2 that are located in Japan. All, including programs in Japan use the MS Project with a plug-in tool that allows them to auto input data. When the user click the "Send To.." button, the data goes
in to multiple tables in one database.
Everything is set up exactly the same for every program; however, we have discovered becase of a firewall, along with some of the different settings that the MS Project has over in Japan, the 2 program users are not able to auto import their data.
The suggestion is to have the program users export the MS Project file into a CSV and email it. I will then take it and convert the data, such as the dates and place them on a Network Drive. There will be 2 folders, one for each program.
I feel it will be an easy process just to load the data from the Network Drive into the same tables that are created for auto import.
My Concerns/Questions:
1. Should I create 1 SSIS package or should there be 2, one for each program?
2. US and Japan program users send their data once a month. The converted files are going to be saved in the location marked with a date (ex:201402). How can i have it to where SSIS will automatically load the data every time i place new files in the designated
folders or when i update an exsisting file?
Can you provide an example with your suggestion please?

There will be 2 folders, one with files with Program A data and the other with files with Program B data. All will have the same fields, just coming from different programs. You stated that I will be able to to load both in one package. Would there be two
paths since there will be two separate folders?
Using the example you provided, i am confident that I can create the package using one path into one table but not sure how to get the files from 2 paths (if there is) into multiple tables.

Without a bit more detail, as per Russels response, its difficult to give an exact recommendation.
Essentially, you would first add a data flow task to your control flow. Create a source per table, then direct the output of each into an union all task. The output from the union all task would then be directed to a flat file destination.
Within the union all task you can map the various input columns into the appropriate outputs.
If the sources are different, it would probably be easiest to add a derived column task in-between the source and the union all, adding columns as appropriate and setting a default value that can be easily identified later (again depending on your requirements).

Printing multiple photos onto one page
Sorry, fairly new to PSE9!
Have a group of photos I need to print to actual size (3cm x 4cm) to go into a photo frame. They are all cropped and ready to go but there doesn't seem to be an option to print multiple images onto one page at a custom size? A contact sheet only gives me the option for the number of columns and picture package doesn't give any such option either as far as I can see! I'm sure I must be missing something here!

emplid is a primary key.

In this table emplid is forigen key from emp_name table
contact_no is primary key.
and my senerio is,
for one emplid there are many contact no.
in database diagram i have created these two entities. and from that i have generated two views objects.
now in jsf page ,
i shd have all fields from both the records.
wn ever i click on add button , i shd be able to insert one complete row of data to both the tables.
means,
emplid
empl_name
contact_no.
and if i click on commit button data shd be insert in both the tables.
so how to achive this?

Can you have multiple clickboxes on one page
Sorry... a few complicated things are coming up. I am doing a
large project with LOTS of interactivity, which involves simulating
a customer filling in a form and then clicking a button to move on.
So one one page I have both a Text Entry box, and sometimes also a
click box.
I made the Text Entry box action "none," and put the "go to
next" on the click box action.
Now my boss wants two more links added to each and every
page... a TABLE OF CONTENTS button, and also a NEXT PAGE button.
When I added these two additonal buttons, it seems to be confusing
Captivate.
This is understandable, as Captivate is probably thinking
"what the heck do you want me to do first."
What I need to know is (a) is it possible to have multiple
Interaction buttons or clickboxes on the same page, each doing a
different thing; and (b) if so... how???
(Secretly I hope the answer is NO because it will simplify my
life tremendously).

Of course you may have multiple Buttons or Click Boxes on a
single slide and have each do something different when the user
clicks. It's all in how you configure the Buttons or Click Boxes.
Personally I think it's easier if you use Click Boxes as I
believe them to be more flexible.
Often what is missed is a specific setting. When you look at
the Options tab of the Click Box properties, you should see a
button with a down arrow. This button is located to the immediate
right of where you would type a URL. Click that button and you
should see an option to open the destination in a new window. But
click again and you see another option that is easily missed. This
would be the option to "Continue playing project". That one is
easily missed because it was in a disabled state (grayed out)
initially. So if you DE-select this option, the Click Box or Button
will carry out its assigned action without releasing the pause on
the slide.
Hopefully that helps you better understand it.

SMARTFORMS:Multiple Labels in one page
Hi All,
We want to print multiple Labels (say 8 per page) in one page, we want to do this in SMARTFORMS. How can we do this.
The approach I am thinking of is...
We can have a Main Window and 8 secondary windows. We can loop through the internal table and depending on a temp variable (Which will increment by 1 with each loop pass) - which can have a maximum value of 8 - we can write contents in each of 8 windows. I want to know how to setup a loop node and a secondary window below loop node. Is this the best way to do? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have come out with another idea. I have used a Main Window and 8 secondary windows. 8 secondary windows correspond to eight labels I want to print in a page. I pass 8 records as inputs into my smartform every time I call. Here is pseudo code.
Call function 'SSF_OPEN'
loop at my_itab.
add 1 to record_count.
if record_count = 8.
clear record_count.
call function fm_name " Call My smartform
EXPORTING
control_parameters = l_control " set l-control-no_open, no_close = 'X'
endif.
endloop.
call function 'SSF_CLOSE'.
