DMM 5.2.2 - 5.2.3 MCS 7835-H2

Dear all.
I have a customer who is running DMM 5.2.2 on a MCS 7835-H2. They have purchased a C210 to run DMM 5.2.3 a migrate away from the MCS hardware platform. I know that DMM 5.2.3 is not supported on the MCS hardware platform.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_2/dms/upgrade/guide/523UpgradeGuide.html#wp316812
However, what I would like to do is upgrade their existing 5.2.2 DMM on MCS to 5.2.3 in a migration window. Once it has been completed, backup the system and restore to DMM 5.2.3 on C210.
My question is it actually possible to upgrade DMM 5.2.2 to 5.2.3 on MCS 7835-H2, regardless of whether Cisco will support it or not.
Thanks in advance, Tim.

Just trying to find out if the migration tool is available and where I might be able to find it?
Any chance it will include pulling the content off the old MCS?  I know this practice isn't recommended.
Thanks

  • MCS-7835-H3 Hard Disk Led Amber Alarm

    Hello Everybody,
I have a MCS-7835-H3 Server, running DMS 5.2.1. The Server has 4 hard disk, (300Gb every disk). I've noticed one hard disk is alarmed, the led is color amber.
I was looking for some documentation about this but i can't find anything.
I was looking at the applience and AAI interface for some information about the disks status and nothing... in the log files neither...
Can somebody helpme to know what is going on?
    So many thanks!

    Hello,
This looks like hardware issue, maybe bad sectors, I would recommend opening a TAC case. They can run Hardware diagnostics on the drive to determine the exact cause of the alert - It may need a replacement.
    Thanks,

  • Fault Tolerance - MCS 7825 H3 & MCS 7835 H2 Servers

    Hi,
I have enabled network fault tolerance on my CUC and CCM Servers, i thought after enabling the network fault tolerance the server would change the mac address to Virtual mac address which indeed it may affect the licenses.
But after enabling fault tolerance and restarting the server also i didn't see any change in the MAC ID. Its the same MAC ID.
    Pls advice.

    Hi Jagadish,
do u get the option of 1000 MB/s  when u configure set network nic eth0  speed ? can u check?
secondly, Bond 0 would be showing Auto disabled which cannot be changed.
Can u share snapshot of show netowrk failover?

  • How to uninstall cucm subcriber on MCS 7835, CUCM Reloaction

    Hi,
Currently we have publisher and subscriber on same location, now the client is thinking to change subscriber location. But the ip scheme on remote site is different. So can we change Subscriber ip address from cli or we need to reinstall cucm with new ip.
    Regards,
    Humza Khan

You don`t need to reinstall the subscriber, you can change the IP address either from CLI or Operating System Administration page.
You can go through the below link for detailed procedure.

  • DMM 5.3 on MCS-7835H3 and DMM-FA-C210-K9 Failover

    Hello,
We are working with a customer that wants to add redundancy to their existing DMM environment. We initially deployed their solution on a MCS-7835H3-DMS server and eventually upgraded it to 5.3. Now they want to add Failover and purchased the DMM-FA-C210-K9 with DMM-FASW-52-K9 from another partner. After sitting idle for several months they have engaged us again to help them figure out a solution.
I see that 5.4 is able to run on a VM. I have the following questions.
Can I upgrade the MCS7835H3-DMS to v.5.4? Based on the 5.4 upgrade document, it appears to be supported.
If we can upgrade the MCS7835HE-DMS to 5.4 will Failover work with the DMM-FA-C210-K9 server?
Since they already have the DMM-FA-C210-K9 server, can it be used as a VMware Host to run 5.4 virtually?
If so, will failover work with the MCS-7835H3-DMS server running 5.4?

    Ray,
The short answer to your two questions is no.  Neither option is supported.
If you are running virtual host both the primary and failover servers must be virtual.  You can not mix types here.
Also the MCS 7835 is not supported in a failover deployment.  Only the DMM-SVR-C210-K9 as the primary server is supported per the 5.4 failover guide. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_4/dms/failover_guide/dmsfailover.pdf .  The DMM-FA-C210-K9 can be used as the standby server though.
    Hope this helps

  • Error Adding DMP 4400 to DMM 5.2.2

I am trying to add a new DMP to my DMM system and everytime I input the IP and MAC on the DMM for the DMP and click ok to add I get the following error code.
DMP could not be added. Error 400
Any Ideas as to what this error code is. I have serched and am unable to find any information on error codes for DMM.
    DMP:
    DMP-4400
    5.2.2
    DMM:
    Version ID: V5.2.2
    HW Model: MCS-7835-H3

    Hello,
    1) Do you have a firewall in your network, If Yes - Have you opened the necessary ports on it ?
Please refer to the ports that need to be allowed between the DMP and DMM.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_2/showandshare/admin/guide/appports.html
    2) Error Code 400 could be the HTTP Error code, Which means that the request from the client to the server or vice versa was not understood by the receiving end.
    3) Makes sure the DMP and DMM are running the same code version and nothing is blocking port 7777 between them.
    4) A screenshot of the error would be helpful .
    Thanks,

  • DMM upgrade 5.2 5.4

    Hi Pros,
We are in process of planning an upgrade of DMM server from 5.2 to 5.4.
I have questions if someone can help answer...
    1) We have existing MCS7835-H3 which is listed as supported by DMM 5.4. Does upgrade to DMM 5.4 have to involve installing it in VMWare or is it applicable only to fresh 5.4 installation.
I am assuming that 5.4 can be upgraded on current server without VMWare. Is my assumption correct?
    2) Do I need to upgrade DMM server as 5.2 to 5.2.1, then 5.2.1 to 5.2.2, then 5.2.2 to 5.2.3, then 5.2.3 to 5.3 & finally 5.3 to 5.4 or can I directly upgrade from 5.2 to 5.4 or 5.2 > 5.3 > 5.4?
    Upgrade guide just mentions 5.2 > 5.2.1 > 5.2.2 > 5.2.3 > 5.3 > 5.4. Its not clear to me.
    3) What will be impact on current data on the DMM server. Will it all be able to convert or any special precautions (real world) to be taken.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pratik

    Hi Pratik,
I am afraid that you have to go step by step from version 5.2 till 5.4
    As mentioned by Cisco, for MCS-7835-H3, the supported upgrade path is 5.2 > 5.2.1 > 5.2.2 > 5.2.3 > 5.3 > 5.4.
I know it is painful but in such a way you guarantee a very smooth upgrade.
Make sure to take a backup of all the content, and make sure as well to connect a keyboard, mouse and screen. You will need it during the upgrade process.

  • DMM & VP Upgrade - 5.02-5.1-5.2

Trying to upgrade DMM and Video Portal,
Both were 5.02. DMM upgrade from 5.02 to 5.1 went well just run DVD and upgraded. Trying to now upgrade VP and will ask if I want to upgrade from 5.02 to 5.2, I answer yes. according to the guide it will boot 2 times, only boots once and the presents the login prompt. once I log in at the AAI I can show info and still 5.02, if I run the software upgrade again from the AAI, I am asked if I want to overwrite the preinstall files for 5.1
It appears that it is copying the file to do the install but then not booting them or loading them to do the upgrade.

    Supported Upgrade Migration Paths
If your devices use any earlier Cisco DMS release than 5.1, you must upgrade to 5.1 before you can
upgrade to 5.2. We support only these migration paths:
    -  5.0.0 > 5.0.2 > 5.1 > 5.2
    -  5.0.2 > 5.1 > 5.2
    -  5.1 > 5.2
NOTE:  Please refer to the following Documents for information relating to the 5.2.x Release and
           for the requirements for Upgrades.

    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_2/dms/upgrade/guide/dms52upg.pdf
In Summary, the supported Hardware platforms has changed with DMS 5.2.x and later.  The Supported
hardware for 5.2.x is MCS-7835H3-DMS= (for DMM) & WAVE-574-DMS= (for Show and Share).  Remember as
noted above, the "only" supported way to install 5.2.x on MCS 7825-H2 & 7825-H3 (Video Portal)
and MCS 7835-H1 & 7835-H2 (DMM) is to "UPGRADE" to 5.2.x.

  • Lock-ups on MCS-7825 after after OS Upgrade to 2000.4.4aSR6

About 3 weeks ago, I upgraded some MCS-7825 & MCS-7835 servers to 2000.4.4aSR6. Since then, one of the 7825's has been rebooting on its own almost twice a day. The other 7825 and 7835s are operating fine.
Anybody else encountering a problem with this? I see in the release notes, some BIOS and firmware updates are included for the 7825, and am suspecting this is the problem.

My problems actually turned out to be hardware, I think. I reviewed the logs and found out it had been happening for several months.

  • Raid Configuration MCS 7845 (best practice)

I'm wondering what is the best practice for RAID configuration. Looking for examples of a 4 disk and 6 disk setups. Also, which drives to pull when breaking the mirror.
Is it possible to have a RAID 1+0 for 4/6 drives and have the mirroring set so that you would pull the top or bottom drives on a MCS 7835/7845?
I'm also confused that using the SmartStart Array Configuration I seem to be able to create one logical drive using raid 1+0 with only having 2 drives, how is that possible?
And links to dirrections would be appreicated.

ICM 7.0, CVP 4.x, CCM 4.2.3, unity, and the collaboration server 5.0 and e-mail manager options for ICM.
But to keep it simple let's look at a Roger set-up.
    Sorry for the delayed response.

  • Eth0 down on MCS Server

    Hello All,
The eth0 on one of my MCS 7835 has failed. The server is a subscriber and has lost connectivity to the publisher. How can I resolve or bring up the eth1.
    Thank you for your response.

    My suggestion :
On  the CLI you type utils network failover
It act as a NIC teaming,  if one fails the second will remain active.

  • MCS 7800 Series Lab?

    Hello,
We have recently upgraded a hodge-podge of MCS 7835 servers.  Some I1's, some I2's, and a single I3.
I was hoping to cannibalize all the RAM and HDD's to one server and make a lab/tools box.  For this, ESXi seems to be the best fit - however, I can't seem to get ESXi running on these boxes!
The BIOS configuration is quite scant... so I'm not sure if this machine is even capable of ESXi.  Based on the actual hardware specs, it should be capable... but perhaps there's some limitation of the motherboard or other hardware?
I was able to get ESXi 5.0 installed, but honestly I have no clue what made the difference.  I tried virtual DVD thru the out of band management interface (IBM's IMM), I tried a physical DVD and a USB key.  All would result in simply a black screen.  I could see the disc being accessed (all 3 types!) but it would not boot.
Eventually, I did get the physical disc to boot and I installed ESXi.  Now, whenever I reboot the box I'm met with that same dreaded black screen.  Worst part is, I don't even see the RAID configuration stuff - which makes me think this failure is beyond ESXi... but I could be wrong.
So has anyone done this before?  Is there some special caveats/steps I'm missing?  Would love to turn this old MCS box into something useful.  Thanks!!

I made some progress this morning.  If I boot the ESXi install disc, and then tell it to boot to 'local disk' instead of the installer, it actually works, I can run ESXi.
But seemingly every selection from the BIOS fails.  I'll keep poking at it, but this is just strange.
    Here's the boot order:
    http://i.imgur.com/72jAY.png
and here's the sad screen after it runs thru that order:
Again, if I use the ESXi install disk and select "boot from local disk" I am able to boot ESXi.  What gives?  The 'ESXi boot' option in the boot order was a 'custom' boot option I made.  Not sure where to go with this...

  • IBM MCS Server RUnning Unity with NIC Teaming

    All,
has anyone ever run NIC teaming on and IBM MCS Server with Unity before? At question is the fact that many severs create a virtual MAC address that is different from either of the actual MACs when you team NICs. If this is the case on the IBM Servers then we may need to request an updated license. The servers are branded as Cisco MCS-7835-I1
    units.
Thanks in advance. All replies rated!

    Hi
    According to this doc: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6790/ps5748/ps378/product_solution_overview0900aecd80091615.html
The 7825-I4 is an IBM IBM x3250-M2. You can use that model number to search the IBM drivers page for the things you need:
    http://www-933.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/systemx/selectFixes
I think the NIC teaming comes with the Network Drivers.

  • Equivalent to MCS or Cisco Platform

    Hi,
I have a HP server model:
    HP Proliant DL380-G5 E5420, 4GB RAM, 4 HDD 146GB, Intel Dual Core 2,5MHz.
I want to install CUCM 6.1 and in other Cisco OS 2003.1.2 with IPCC 5.(2).
What is a similar in Cisco?
    Thanks.

    Hi Miguel,
A similar "Cisco branded" model is the MCS-7835-H2-IPC2
    As shown in this excellent doc;
