  • DMM 5.4 and Show and Share

I noticed that DMM 5.4 is no longer supporting Show and Share.  I was just wondering what the Road Map is?  Is that coming later, or is Show and Share being phased out?  What would be the replacement if we currently use DMM 5.3 and Show and Share?
    Thanks!

    Bill,
The version of DMM that now comes with the CXS bundle does not support signage (DMPs).  The current purchase path if you need SNS & DMPs is to purchase an SNS/DMM combo plus an AppSpace or standalone DMM box.

  • Cisco TCS and Show n Share recording

Can the TCS integration with SHow n Share be used to record content with a multi party call.
Using one of our EX60’s I was able to get TCS setup to record.
It is working for an individual but when we have two connected and try to call the TCS it will only let us do an audio.
It seems to be a VCS-related issue as once I have 2 end-points joined, the only option to join a 3rd is Audio – regardless if it is the TCS or a test system out on the Internet.

Our C40 codecs do not have the multisite license installed so that explains why this is failing when initiating from this codec. We have Edge 95 codec that can successfully complete the 3rd party video call natively. By default it has the multi-site option. That appears to be our limitation here.
EX60's do not have a MCU within the codec and i think would require an MCU on the network if we wanted to initiate a video conference from it. The EX90s do have an MCU within the codec but would require the purchase of an mcu option license to activate.
Please anyone correct me if you see a flaw in my findings!

  • Show and Share Automatically Assign Permissions

I have been looking and cannot find a whole lot on SnS permissions.  Our DMS is version 5.3.11 and we are using embedded authentication.  We have a setup so when a user connects to the TCS(5.3) to record a video it then automatically sends it to our MXE3500(3.3.2.0) then from there it automatically distributes it to our Show and Share and assigns it a category based on what address was dialed.
What we want to do is have group and or user permissions assigned to the categories so only those users can see the videos.  Does anyone know if this is possible?
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi
Integration with Active Directory :Cisco Digital Media Manager 5.3 provides integration with Microsoft Active Directory
via the LDAP protocol to import both names and groups from Active Directory. Cisco Digital Media Manager and Show and Share users are then authenticated against MS  Active Directory during the login process. By categorizing the uses into different user group within DMM, administrator can control and manage the content viewing permission within Show and Share by associating the user group to the video during the publishing stage. There are three Authentication Mechanism available: ‘Embedded Authentication’, ‘LDAP Authentication’ and ‘Federation Authentication’ .Currently, Microsofts Active Directory is the only LDAP service that is supported. You have to choose LDAP Authentication , as the attached photo

  • Flash Player 10 processor system requirement discrepancy

http://www.ehow.com/info_8526453_flash-player-10-system-requirements.html says that Flash Player 10 on Windows computers requires "a Pentium 4 processor running at 2.33 GHz or an Athalon 64 2800+ processor."
    However, http://www.downloadatoz.com/essentialware/adobe-flash-player/what-is-system-requirement-of -adobe-flash-player-10_g.html says:
"System Requirements of Adobe Flash Player 10:
    • Windows 2000, XP(SP2 and above), Windows Server, Windows Vista., Macintosh OS X, Linux
    • Intel Pentium 450MHz, AMD Athlon 600MHz processor (for Windows);...(for Mac)"
My question is: which of those two articles is correct as to what Adobe published as the Pentium processor system requirement for Flash Player 10?
I see that this question was previously asked on this forum but was never answered, and that the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10 is no longer on Adobe.com

Flash Player 10 is no longer supported and hasn't been for more than two years. Adobe no longer maintains a listing of system requirements for it since they do not recommend using it on any system that is connected to the Internet, because there are numerous security vulnerabilities with 10 (which have been addressed in newer releases, like 11, 12 & 13).
I've spent hours trying to find any of the old documentation for versions like 9, 10, or 11, and they simply don't exist. Wikipedia (taken with a grain of salty, naturally) shows that Flash Player 11 was the first version to make a Pentium processor a minimum requirement, but even that doesn't specify a P4.
Either way, unless you have an extremely old, and extremely slow computer, (ie: single core, less than 1gHz, less than 512mb RAM) Flash Player 10 should install and run, but again, it isn't recommended, as it leaves you vulnerable to attackers.

  • InDesign 5.5 does not meet system requirements

    Hello,
Currently I have a much older version of Adobe creative suite, CS3. But I am currently attempting to install CS5.5 Master Collection onto my MacBook OSX 10.6.8. As I get to the Install options, I choose Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign 5.5 as those are the programs I use most. However, though both Photoshop and Illustrator meet my system requirements, InDesign 5.5 does not. I have no idea why InDesign does not meet my requirements. And I would like to wait before installing the programs on my computer as InDesign is the program I use most for my work.
I would just like to know why InDesign is not compatiable with my current computer and to see if there is a possibility to resolve this issue.
Please let me know if I should be more specific with my questions.
    Thank you,

Hi, Peter Y.: (FYI, "Peter" seems to be among the most popular names on this forum.)
Please note that Adobe's method of numbering ID releases is confusing in any language. "CS 5.5 Master Collection" is the full and correct collection name, but it's also the full and correct release name of the ID component it contains, as in "InDesign CS5.5," whether referring to the ID component that is integrated into the 5.5 Creative Suite, or to the single ID CS 5.5 product bought outside any Creative Suite collection.
On Mac, the About InDesign menu item under the InDesign menu will show a different number, just to make things crazy. ID CS 5 in the About panel is "Version 5." ID CS 5.5 in the About panel is "Version 5.5." In the early days before suites, ID 1.0 was version 1. When suites came in, for whatever reason, the new numbering convention came with it. It's absolutely guaranteed to baffle folks in the same way that, in Paris, "the left bank" of the Seine doesn't relate to which direction you're facing - it's always the south bank.
As Peter S. says, newer installing a newer InDesign release won't damage an installed older release. However, just to be super-cautious, keep in mind that installing a component from within a collection that has the same number as an existing installation of the same product that wasn't part of a collection may cause problems. For example, if ID CS5.5 was purchased as a single product and installed on a computer, installing ID CS5.5 from a collection may cause damage; perhaps someone on the forum knows if a warning message would appear in a case like this.
Also, it's well known that installing an older version when a newer version is already installed, can cause problems. For example, if ID CS5.5 is installed, installing ID CS5, ID CS4, ID CS3, etc., will cause problems. The issue is that some newer-version files reside in the same location as same-named older-version files, and installing older versions overwrites the newer files; the installers don't catch this problem, and so there's no warning message.

  • Why can't Mountain be installed on a 2006 iMac?  I meet every system requirement.

My father would like to go ahead and upgrade to Mountain Lion.  I have upgraded the RAM on his his machine and it meets every system requirement other than it was manufactered in 2006.  I don't see any reason why it can't run the OS.

    Dear Captain,
    MichelPM wrote:
Your father's iMac can run OS X 10.7 Lion, though.
Whoa! He may NOT be able to run Lion 10.7. Only the last of the 2006 iMacs can run Lion due to processor limitations. Lion requires a minimum Core 2 Duo processor. Only the iMAcs that Apple names "Late 2006" have that processor. Here's how to find out:
    1) From your Apple menu, do "About this Mac".
    2) Look at the "Processor information" in the resulting window.
    3) The processor Information must read "Core 2 Duo," not "Core Duo" to run Lion.
If you wish further verification, click on "More Info" in the "About" window. That launches System Profiler; its opening screen looks like this (example taken from a notebook but the info is in the same places):
To run Lion, the Model Identifier must have the code 'iMac5,1" or higher number to run Lion.
While there, see how much RAM is installed. Even if the processor is Lion-capable, a lot of older iMacs have very little RAM by today's standards. 2GB RAM is the bare minimum for Lion. The Late 2006 iMac can use up to 3GB RAM, still dicey.

  • ISight System Requirements (dumb question, but I'm confused)

Sorry to ask such a purchase-related question, but I'm entirely confused as to whether I can use iSight with my G4 Cube.
I'm running OS 10.4.3 and have iChat AV installed, but my processor speed is only 500 MHz.
The information on the actual iSight package is unclear. So, after I was disuaded from buying one at a retail store, I checked the site store. There, the system requirements read:
"Macintosh computer with a 600MHz or faster PowerPC G3 or any PowerPC G4 or G5 processor."
I understand this to mean that, for people with G3 PowerPCs, their processor speed must be at least 600 MHz. But any G4 or G5 processor should be adequate.
However, when I called Apple Customer Service, the representative insisted that this means, no matter what processor you have, its speed must be at least 600 MHz.
    Can someone enlighten me?
    G4 Cube   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   500 MHz processor
    G4 Cube   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   500 MHz processor

Hello Jason. Different software applications that drive iSight can have different System Requirements.
There are a lot of choices of Applications You Can Use With iSight. Select the app that performs the function you want and then check its system requirements. Different applications have their own (and possibly different) requirements, so check carefully when considering other software.
The 600 MHZ requirement is the G3 processor speed minimum System Requirements for iChat AV 2.1. This particular 600 MHz speed requirement applies only to G3 Macs using iChat AV 2.1. ANY G4, including your Cube, can use iSight with iChat AV 2.1.
However, you are using iChat AV 3. Some of the System Requirements for iChat AV 3 are significantly higher than for version 2.1, but your G4 can still use iSight for one-to one iChat AV 3 video without PowerBoost.

Upgrade your machine to latest hardware and software as per system requirements and try to make the most of it.
Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
    Mac OS X v10.8 or v10.9
4 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended)
5 GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive fi le system or on removable flash storage devices)
Additional disk space for disk cache (10 GB recommended)
    1440 x 900 display
    OpenGL 2.0–capable system
QuickTime 7.6.6 software required for QuickTime features
    Optional: Adobe-certified GPU card for GPU-accelerated ray-traced 3D renderer
Internet connection and registration are necessary for required software activation, validation of subscriptions, and access to online services.*
       2.  You can try to use After Effects version  CS 6 on your machine.

  • Uploading YouTube videos/urls into Cisco Show and Share

We've just purchased the DMM 5.2 and the Show and Share appliance to host internal company videos but there are some YouTube videos out there that we want to pull into our Show and Share system as well. How can we do this? I've tried every possible combination of youtube url and embedded url that is out there, at least nothing that I've tried has worked thus far. I'm able to pull in other internal URLs of different videos (wmv format) without any trouble. Is this an issue with YouTube or perhaps with flv formatted video that YouTube uses (which should work according to the manual).
I know this is a new product, but is there anyone that can help?
    Thank you in advance,
    Chris

    Chris,
The YouTube videos are typically Flash content.
The key here is that you need to download the Flash content
yourself and then Upload to the Show and Share.
Use the DIRECT URL of the Flash Content on YouTube to download
the FLV to you Personal device.  After file successfully download, simply
upload the file to Show and Share.
    For example:
Cisco Show and Share Flash Demo
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzquCVvS0qQ
    * this link is the actual Dashboard URL not the video link
    http://v4.lscache8.c.youtube.com/videoplayback?ip=0.0.0.0&sparams=id%2Cexpire%2Cip%2Cipbits%2Citag%2Calgorithm%2Cburst%2Cfactor%2Coc%3AU0dWRlRRVF9FSkNNNl9MS1hB&fexp=904405%2C901902&algorithm=throttle-factor&itag=34&ipbits=0&burst=40&sver=3&expire=1271466000&key=yt1&signature=1E65C92607546EA03DE0D1082884574D3F58AD0F.93FF9FDB00B10B44BBB52F31AADF3EB50FCEB7CC&factor=1.25&id=673aae095bd2d2a4&
    * Actual URL of Video Content
    ========================================================
FOR THOSE THAT ARE USING OSX & SAFARI:
    ======================================
If you need to download FLASH Content for TESTING in your DMS Solution, You
can download Flash Videos from YouTube.
Note: The Video Quality is NOT HD or even SD...  it is ID (Internet Definition)
Also, the downloaded file will be a .flv Flash File.
    1. Open a Video on YouTube, Google Video etc.
    2. Press "Alt+Cmd(Apple-Key)+A" - A window opens named "Activity".
    3. Select the ".flv" file (looking on filesize helps) and press "Cmd(Apple-Key)+C" to copy.
Paste with "Cmd(Apple-Key)+V" the URL to your Adress Bar and press Enter.
    4. If you need a different video format such as MPEG, WMV, or SWF; you will need to convert
the downloaded ".flv" file with VisualHub or VLC
If this answers your question, Please take time to mark this

  • RSS Feeds in Show and Share

    Hi all,
We have deployed Show and Share in our enterprise, and Cisco DMM with DMP licenses.
We would like to integrate the Show and Share updates using the RSS feeds, is it possible to disable the authentication requirement for the RSS feed?

Mail in Mountain Lion no longer supports RSS feeds. You have to install an RSS feed reader, as the message suggested.

  • Cisco Show and Share – Last update?

    Hi,
We’re currently using Cisco Show and Share as our internal video platform.
I believe there hasn’t been any form of update to the platform in more than 2 years and am wondering if we have missed something.
At the bottom of our interface we have the following text:
Show and Share and the Digital Media Manager are part of the Cisco Digital Media Suite.
© 2002-2011, Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved. Warranty and End-User License Agreement
Does the 2011 date refer to our last update? This seems quite old if it does.
    Any insight would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Callan

    Hi Callan:
That depends on the application(s) you're running, releases past 5.3.10 are supported only on a Cisco MXA UCS M3 server.
There is some info about that at http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/conferencing/show-share/datasheet_c78-711706.html
Then there is also the following document covering 5.3.10:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_3/showandshare/upgrade/hardware/SNS_5-3-10_Rel_Notes.html
Systems that can be migrated to a Cisco MXA UCS M3 server for SnS are:
    UCS 210-M2, UCS 200-M2, MCS 7835-H3, WAVE-574.
Systems that can be migrated to a Cisco MXA UCS M3 server for DMM are:
    UCS 210-M2, and MCS 7835-H3.
If you are running on another hardware platform (7835-H3 or UCS210, very likely because of the version you are on) then the following upgrade and/or hotfix information will still be of interest to you and you may have a path to 5.3 depending on what you're working with. A critical hotfix may apply to your system, and the following document guides you in the form of "if you are running _____, then do ________."
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_2/dms/release/notes/dms52rn.html#wp266747
5.3.7 still supports some older platforms, check this to see if your system is among them:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_3/showandshare/upgrade/sns537rn.html#wp301513
