DMP 4310G doesn't output audio

Hello experts,
I am totally new to this support community, so my apologies if this is not the right place/tag for this question.
We've got a number of 4310G DMPs and as our DMM is not yet operational, I decided to explore the players a little bit as standalone devices, acessing them via Web-Browser.
The issue I am facing is that no audio is coming out of the DMP when I play videos, except for MPEG, which works fine.
I have tried WMV, AVI and SWF, but the audio doesn't come out for none of these.
My firmware version is 5.2.3 and I have tried outputing the audio via HDMI to a Samsung Professional display, as well as via 3.5mm audio output to a speaker.
To make sure the audio format was suported, I loaded an MP3 file to the flash memory of the DMP and played it. All worked fine. Afterwards I embedded the same audio file into a flash project (Flash Lite 3.1, Actionscript 2.0). Worked fine on my PC, but on the player, no sound at all, only the graphics.
Ps: I have already checked the audio parameters. They seem to be correct (50 on each channel), so I am running out of ideas on what else to check/try.
Please, any help will be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
Ricardo

Hello Ricardo,
I assume you have confirmed that the Audio and Video Codec your content is using is mentioned in the data sheet below :
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/video/ps9339/ps7220/data_sheet_c78-625677.html
Couple of Questions :
1) Are all the DMP 4310 having this issue or only the few ?
2) If you are having the issue with all, I would examine the content's codec first. If you believe that the content has the right codecs then I would ask you to open a TAC case for further analysis.  You can check the codec the Video is using by opening the file in VLC Player and clicking on Media Information. Or Use a Freeware for windows called as "MediaInfo" .
3) Are you hosting the content (Video File) on a CIFS share , Internal Flash or attached USB ?
Can you attach the MIB DUMP from the DMP to this forum so that we can take a look ?
Procedure to collect the dump : Just paste the URL in the browser
https://admin@password:10.0.0.1/get_param?p=*.*
replace the "password"  with DMP's password
and the 10.0.0.1 with the IP address of the DMP's client
Save the output in a Text file and attach it to the forum. Also if you have the actual content that is having the issue - Please attach it to the forum too.
Thanks,
Sagar Dhanrale

  • Macbook Pro 15-inch (Retina Display) HDMI doesn't output audio to TV

My rMBP's HDMI port doesn't output audio through the HDMI cable to my TV. Instead, the audio plays on the laptop's speakers. I know the problem is not the HDMI cable nor the TV because my TV speakers play sound when I connect my Windows laptop via the same HDMI cable and TV jack.
    Anybody know a fix?

I have this exact same problem, I have gone to preferences, ans selected the output as HDMI and nothing happened.  Later I went to Utilities, Audio MIDI Setup and tried to select different options to get the sound working and nothing, the volume for the HDMI was grey, disactivated, all the time.  Any new findings lately?  I have my computer fully updated.

  • DMP-4310G No Audio

Maybe someone can help me out with this .... I have a DMP-4310g V5.3 connected via HDMI to an NEC E422 LCD which works fine with our telepresence equipment, the DMP can play video but there's no sound. I've tested with SWF, AVI, WMV .... I'm I missing something?
    Thank you for any help

    Hi Joe,
Have you tried to check the DMP Audio channel volume in the "DMP Display Attributes" in the DMP Device Manager:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/video/digital_media_systems/dmp/user/guide/5_x/5_2_x/display.html#wp1160137
Be also aware that Flash audio is not supported on the DMP.

  • IPhone 4 Won't Output Audio, No Airplay

My iPhone4 (OS 7.1.2) works fine, but has essentially become a brick to external devices. Music will not play through headphones, the phone no longer outputs audio to my car stereo via USB or Bluetooth, and the AirPlay icon has disappeared from the video player (yes, my Apple TV is on the same wi-fi connection). In my car, the USB screen says "Unreadable" and the Bluetooth screen doesn't even acknowledge my phone (which is discoverable).
All of this started happening under curious circumstances. Up until a few weeks ago, my phone's loudspeaker hadn't been working for a while. The ringtone worked, but no other audio worked. It was like the phone thought I had headphones plugged in. All of a sudden, the loudspeaker started working--I have no idea why--and at that time, I started experiencing the problem I'm describing here.
They sure seem related. Any tips from the community?

Okay - other things I would try is different USB cables and restoring on another computer if possible.
If no joy with either of those, make an appointment at an Apple store near you and bring it in to be evaluated. It may have a hardware problem and will need to be replaced.

  • My ATV 2G with latest firmware doesn't stream audio to Airplay Speakers

    Hi everybody,
I have an AppleTV 2G upgraded to the latest firmware (5.1.1 / ios 6.0.1).
My problem is that it doesn't stream audio to my airplay speakers. I have the B&O Beoplay A8.
The speakers work fine with my ipad and iphone, but not the ATV.
I checked the aiplay settings, the speakers appear there normally and I have ticked them and they are the selection for the audio output.
Instead AppleTV audio is on the TV.
    Can someone please help me.
I got the speakers just for this reason. To listen audio from movies on ATV from the speakers.
    Every help is appreciated.

Timing-wise the problem coincided with upgrading the firmware on my Airport Express to 7.6.4 (reverting to the previous version doesn't seem possible).
Reverting to an earlier firmware version is possible with v5.6 of the AirPort Utility. Note: This version runs fine under OS X Mountain Lion but will not install without a workaround. Let me know if you need it.

  • New Macbook Air: optical digital output audio?

Does new (July 2011) Macbook Air have a digital output audio  so I could connect it via optical cable to my receiver when i'm watching movies.

It doesn't appear so. The MBA spec sheet only states
    Headphone port
whereas the also new Mac mini has
    Audio line in minijack (digital/analog)
    Audio line out/headphone minijack (digital/analog)

  • I just updated iTunes to 10.5.0.142 on Windows 7. Now it doesn't recognize audio CDs

After updating iTunes to 10.5.0.142 this morning, iTunes doesn't recognize audio CDs. I ran the diagnostics for my DVD drive, and it said everything was OK, but the CD name doesn't show in the navigation bar, nor does the list of songs appear. I tried with several different pre-recorded commercial CDs.
Ctrl E DOES eject the CD.
Also Help-->iTunes Help ends up with an eror "Not Found--The requested URL /itunes/win/10.5/ was not found on this server."

I find a way to add music.
    Make sure iTunes is closed.
Go to the song file on your computer. If the file has the little black musical iTunes symbol as its icon, just double click the file. It should open up in iTunes and stay in you library.
If the little black musical iTunes symbol isn't next to the file, right click the file and go to "Open With" and then click on "iTunes". It should open up in iTunes and stay in your library.
Yeaaa its the long way but that's the only way for now, unfortunately.

  • How do I make my Mac not use the external mic on my Apple Earphones but output audio through the earphones?

I want to use the microphone built in to the MacBook Pro while still outputting audio through the Apple Earphones. This is because the microphone on my earphones has stopped working. If anyone knows how to do this, please tell me

Based on the info you provided, is this your printer?

If so, it appears the do have a driver available for Lion.

  • Outputting audio from Mac

What is the difference between using the Mini Displayport to Output audio (such as multi-channel audio) vs. using the optical out (headphone jack) via a TOSlink/Digital Optical cable to an external sound system?

MIDI is NOT audio, you cannot transport audio over MIDI cables.
So, does the Yamaha have audio inputs?

  • Output audio different than video

From FCP, timeline highlighted, I exported to Compressor. 30 minutes of video and corresponding audio. When it's finished the video is what was in the timeline in FCP, but the audio is from another clip altogether.
I've tried the same steps with other video/audio in the timeline. Same thing. The outputted audio is ALWAYS from the same (different) clip. Compressor version 1.2.1.
The compressed audio is from the first batch of footage I captured for this project. Every time I try and compress something in the timeline the audio is always from this clip.
    Any thoughts/suggestions?
    thanks!

Hi. I'm running STP 2.0.2 with 5.1 audio through an RME Fireface 400 and sending the video via HDMI from a Black Magic Intensity card to an LCD TV. If I can refer you to page 318 of the manual it states that "When you use a video output device that supports both video and audio output, Soundtrack Pro automatically routes your audio output to this device to provide the best possible synchronization of the audio and video". Therefore not a bug, but a default built into STP.
I'm sure they are correct, but cannot see why this was not added as a preference option. My solution has been to run the LCD TV as a second monitor through it's PC input, which works fine but does not give HD image. I have tried many options (All combos of available audio preferences for system and STP) without success. My next plan is to cut the HDMI cable and disable the audio if possible, but this may not work due to the nature of HDMI (System may believe the HDMI output is an audio capable video device even though audio path has been severed).

  • Macbook OS X Yosemite - Logitech headset output audio not working with Rosetta Stone

So I got my macbook air 2014 with Yosemite software and I installed Rosetta Stone and I couldn't get the Logitech Headset (H540) to get the output audio through it.  The software will accept the microphone audio, but it will send the output audio throughout the internal speakers of my macbook air, or even worse, it will freeze the program until I disconnected the headset (as soon as I unplugged it from the usb, the software will continue like a nothing was going on).
So I look in dozens of webpages trying to find a solution, but I there was none.  I read that for some people creating a "multi-output device" in audio midi resolved the issue, but for most people including myself, it didn't work.
So after trying different options in the Audio MIDI setups, I found the solution!! :   If you change the "format" from the default 16000.00 Hz to one higher, it will work like a charm! Now everything is working perfectly for me, including the main reason of this research: Rosetta Stone program.
I hope this post helps and saves a lot of time to any of you having this same problem.
If any other questions (or thanks ) reply to this post.

This is great!  I've got one follow-on problem to this, though:  My format rate seems to keep snapping back to 16000, and breaking until I go back and fix it again (32000 works fine for me).  Any idea how to twiddle things so that 32000 is the default for my device?

  • 30G iPod doesn't play audio in movies or videos

My 30G iPod doesn't play audio in movies or videos... Can anybody help me?
    Thanks!

What is the source of the videos and movies? Downloaded from the iTunes store or did you convert them from other sources? If the latter...
QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, iTunes & the iPod (both of which use QuickTime) only show the video and no sound.
iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files

One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

  • "The source and output audio channels are not compatible or a conversion does not exist" - ?

I'm trying to export from Premiere Pro for a f4v file that matches all source settings except resizing the video. I've done this a million times but today, when I hit EXPORT, I'm getting an error message from Adobe Media Encoder that says "the source and output audio channels are not compatible or a conversion does not exist." I'm using wav, mov and mts files in my audio tracks and everything plays happily in the timeline. Any ideas?
    Thanks for any help!

Sounds like you unsuccessfully trying to output a 5.1 Master to a stereo or mono file.  Or something along those lines.

  • Cant select airplay device for output audio

Restarting coputer helps, but very anoying.
Also found this soulution here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1412191
Killing coreaudio fixed it for me without a reboot:
    sudo kill `ps -ax | grep 'coreaudiod' | grep 'sbin' |awk '{print $1}'`
This seems to be a common issue, so PLEASE solve it

  • Show and Share (SnS) Content Played on DMP-4310G

    Hi all,
It's it possible to play video on demand from the SnS server?
Is there any documentation that would provide me with the configuration and requirements?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Mike,
The document I sent to you just show how to set up the streaming points in Cisco Show and Share. What are you trying to achieve can be done by using the Cisco Digital Sign module from DMS solution,  which will allow you to send the videos to the Cisco Digital Media Player (DMP).  The Cisco Show and Share module is dedicated to the desktop clients as this is a video portal.   You might have to check if you have the license to run Cisco Digital Sign module.
You might want to try to run the video in the DMP's as standalone too as long as you have a streaming server and the videos are following the supported video format of  DMP-4310G it will should play fine,  but you will have more overhead in managing the video as you loose the centralize option of using the Cisco Digital Sign module.
    Video codecs
    • Video MPEG1
    • Video MPEG2: Main Profile at High Level
    • Video MPEG4 Part 10 Baseline and Main profiles
    • Video Windows Media 9 and VC-1 - VoD only
    • Aspect ratio: 4:3 and 16:9
    • HD (up to 1080p at 16:9) progressive and interlace video resolution
    • Video data rate up to 28 Mbps
    • Internal Hardware Decoder delay configurable to < 1 sec
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/video/ps9339/ps7220/data_sheet_c78-625677.html
In case the video is not in the DMP supported format you might have to re-encode the video in one of the formats that are supported.
    Hope that helps
