DMP not booting properly

Hi Team,
I am trying to upgrade my DMP(4400G) from 5.2.1 to 5.2.2 version. During the last upgrade from 5.1 to 5.2.1 few units got some problem. Now these units are not discovered by DMM or even i don,t get Display(CISCO page with IP add). I tried to reset them to factory default but no luck.
Added to that One of them unit keeping rebooting automatically, giving beep at intervals.
I tried to find some solution online but there is written that if during the upgrade process i did not make them factory default then i need to go through some long process to make them again discoverable to DMM. I guess i need to go through that process.
Please let me know the process, how to recover back.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Rajesh

Rajesh,
* What version of DMP code do you think is
on the DMP?
* What model of DMP?
* What BROWSER are you using to access DMP?
* Does the WEB DMP-DM come up and ask you for
a Usename & Password?
or
Does it just ask for a PASSWORD to activate the DMP?
Please provide a SCREEN CAPTURE of the first page that
you are seeing when you HMTL to DMP.
Another thing to try is to issue another reset on DMP and
wait for the LOGO screen to appear & then disappear before
accessing the DMP-DM.

  • 667mhz Titanium not booting properly

I have a 667mhz powerbook Titanium DVI. It will boot into firewire mode perfectly, it will boot into OSX or os9 but with no video at dvi port or on lcd. One out of 100 times it will boot into open firmware and then I can boot it into OSX WITH all video functioning. The other 99 times It fails to boot into open firmware, and I know this because it will not boot into OSX with the bye command or reset-all that I type into my then blank screened mac. I suppose I will be told it is a logicboard problem. But this doesn’t seem logical. It seems more likely to be a bios problem, Either a faulty setting or a corrupted bios.
I would like to reflash the bios with the 4.2.9 bios update for the non DVI titanium, but I know it will not work. I would need to resedit my bios flash to permit the update. I need to know how do this. I don’t suppose it is possible to have the bios properly reflashed. Any ideas?

    James,
Just noticed your topic, and sorry I don't have much in the line of suggestions, but wanted to suggest that you post back with your computer specs and especially which OS you are using on the machine (eMac, I assume from your choice of forums). This will help those trying to help you troubleshoot your issue.
OS, third party apps, updated third party hardware, and especially any troubeshooting that you have already tried such as Repairing Permissions (before and after the update).....this type of thing will only help those to help you get to the bottom of your problem.
I personally just downloaded 5 updates today (finally had the time to catch up) such as three Security Updates and the updated versions of QuickTime and iTunes. All, fortunately, went very smooth although I do not have any third party add-ons to hardware such as upgraded video card etc. or any third party apps that interfere with the System such as any Menu Extra apps. I also, have always been in the habit of Repairing Permissions with Disk Utility before and after any software updates....especially the security updates which seem to be the most troublesome for most users that experience problems such as yours.
It should help also to let us know which updates you had updated (security updates or apps such as Quicktime or iTunes etc.).

  • New system does not boot properly

I just set up a new system with:
     a MS-6728 Neo2 FIS2R Mobo,
    1gb Geil PC-3500 RAM (2x512),
    2.6C proc.
2 Maxtor 120gb IDE drives RAID 0 with the onboard promise controller.
    Lite-On DVD burner
    ATI radeon 9800 video card
Enermax 300 watt power supply with:
    3.3v - 28amp
    5v - 30amp
    12v 22amp
    170watt total 3.3/5 combined
My problem is that my system NEVER boots up normally.  It always freezes in the bios startup.  The D-bracket stops at almost every possible combination of led's, which according to the manual the problems were:  Testing RTC, Initialize Video interface, Testing memory, Initializing floppy controller, Memory detection, Decompressing bios to ram, possibly more.  Sometimes I also just get beeping, either a continuous beep or 8 beeps.  A few times it would display the bios startup screen, but halfway down would be gibberish characters and would be locked up.  When I then turn the computer off then on again, the bios is reset at least somewhat(i know because I usually disable the full screen image on startup) and says memory timings are too tight, and I have the choice to enter bios or hit any key to automatically fix things.  If I hit any key it will boot up ok.  However when I restart/turn off the computer, the next time it again does not boot.  I tried upping the ram voltages from 2.5-2.9v, and that seems to stay that way in the bios, even when it resets itself.  Everything else is set to auto/slow.  If I try to manually adjust the memory timings, even to the slowest possible settings, it does not boot, and I must turn it on/off a few times till the bios resets again, with the boot process stopping at one of the possiblilitys mentioned above.    Using the info tab on speedfan, I got the memory info, and it displayed the voltage at 2.5v, not sure what that means but it is strange.
    What I have already attempted:
I sent back the ram and got a new set, which hasn't changed anything.  The first time the other ram failed memtest, this time it passed(for about 2 hrs).  So I don't think its the ram.
I borrowed an antec truepower 430w powersupply, which had no effect.
I went back to bios version 1.3 from 1.9, which also seems to have no effect.
I was hoping to overclock the system a bit and enable performance mode etc etc, but now I'll be happy to just not have to go through a song and dance everytime I restart the computer.  This is only the second computer I have built from scratch, and the first with raid, but that seemed to all go ok.  Please help me diagnose the problem!

I too am having problems with my system.
    865PE Neo2-FIS2R
    2 Maxtor 120GB S-ATA drives, RAID 0, Promise
    2 512MB Geil Ultra CL2-3-3-6
    HP CD-RW
What IDE settings are you using?
    E.g...Native? P-ATA Only...all of those settings
For me...sometimes XP will install and boot...but eventually system is unstable and XP crashes and corrupts itself...Event Manager errors different each time
Someone mentioned problems with Maxtor and AMI BIOS...anything I should keep in mind?
Sorry about all the different questions.  I'm sure exactly where my problem lies.  MSI thinks it may be my memory AND/OR on-board IDE controller since I can't get the on-board Intel RAID setup to consistently "see" and setup my RAID drives...even when it has worked...XP doesn't like the Intel configured RAID drives.  Also tried just one S-ATA drive through on-board Intel and Promise.  Next I will try a plain old IDE Hard Drive...no S-ATA...and make sure my memory passes memtest86+ testing.
Any other gems you can offer for this config???  Thanks.

  • IBook G3 not booting properly

My iBook G3 will not boot up anymore. It just started today. Everything including the finder froze up, and I had to hold down the power button to turn it off. I went to turn it back on, and I got a folder with a flashing mac face and a question mark on it. I have been told this only happens in OS 9, but I am (was) running 10.4.11. All it does is boot to that screen, and I can't boot from the disc, because I don't have it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
What happens if you try holding down the x key during startup? (This will sometimes do a force-boot into OS X.)
Have you tried resetting the PRAM?
If that doesn't work, will it start up in Safe Mode? (This will take quite awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk, so let it attempt the Safe Boot for a long time.)

  • Macbook Pro not Booting Properly 50% of the time.

I have a 3 year old Macbook Pro 13.3 Inch that I use for school.  However over the course of the last 6 months it has begun to only boot up fully into OSX Lion about half of the time. The other 50% of the time it "freezes" during boot up and although I can move the mouse around the home screen, I cannot do anythign else besides do a forced shut down and reboot by holding the power button.   Everything LOOKS like it loads except my IDISK icon, If the IDISK does not show up, then I know the computer did not fully boot, Howver If i can see my IDISK on my desktop, the computer is fully booted and works fine.  Ive looked online for others having this same problem, and I have done a full wipe and reinstall from my time capsule with no luck, same problem.   I have not found any threads like this and the guys at the Genius Bar had no idea how to correct it, any ideas?
Do I need to completely wipe the drive and partition and start with a fresh copy of LION that is NOT from my time capsule?   If I do that can I retrieve certain things off of time capsule?
Any ideas would be helpful, the computer runs perfectly except for only booting 50% of the time.
    Thanks

  • Mac will not boot properly

I will try and give as much information as I possibly can. I recently had problems the other day when I was trying to burn a CD for a trip, however, it was taking way too long, and it became apparent when it was said it was going to take longer than an hour to accomplish the designated task. However, when I tried to cancel it, iTunes completely froze up, and I was forced to do a forced restart. Since then, I have not been able to boot regularly or into safe mode. I have used Disk Utility, and it returns that it is okay. I have also done the Hardware Test, and it returned saying there were no problems. When I went to Disk Utility, I attempted to back-up the files on the computer, in order to completely erase the computer, and reload everything back, however, I always receive Error: Input/Output with my External Hard Drive. I can still use option to boot to the Installation Disk, and I can boot into the Command Line, however, nothing I have done has been able to work, any help or ideas would be appreciated.

That's not good. How about giving this a try? Do an 'archive install' with preserving your user and network settings
Steps to do the archive install with preserving can be seen in this apple support page link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710?viewlocale=en_US
If the issue is resolved, your done.
If the issue persists, do an archive install without preserving. This will still save your data, but create a new user account. All of your data from your original account will then be located in the 'previous systems' folder. It's a good idea that the name you give the 'new user account' not be identical to the old user, as if you do use the steps given below, it will will save you time, as when the name of the user accounts is identical, it will cause a conflict.
If you can successfully boot into the new user, you can then recover your data manually or you could consider using the following apple support page to recover the old user account: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2196
The part of the above support page that is of importance, in regards to what I'm suggesting, is the 12 steps written at the bottom of the page, after you see this 'In Mac OS X 10.5.x, if you performed an Archive and Install installation of Mac OS X without preserving users, but later realized that you wanted to preserve users, these steps can be used to recover a user's entire Home folder:'
I've used the above steps myself on a few occasions and it worked without a hitch.
    Hope this was helpful, good-luck!

  • IMac g5 pocket not booting properly

When I restart my iMac it boots up like normal
but mouse won't click on anything. When I manually
Restart or unplug and restart, it still does the same thing.

Is your mouse connected to the computer through a wire, or is it a Bluetooth wireless mouse?
If it is wired, make sure the plugs are completely seated (pushed in).
If it is wireless, make sure Bluetooth is turned on, and that the batteries in the mouse are not dead.
    Good luck.

  • N500 not booting properly - hangs?

    Running a Lenovo 3000 N500, running winXP Pro SP2.
Under a normal boot, WinXP just hangs at the splash screen, while the little blue bar keeps cycling and nothing happens.
When I boot in safe mode, I choose my normal profile, and then it proceeds to hang at "loading your personal preferences" or whatever it says.
However, if I choose another profile which boots directly to a sound program (serato scratch) and bypasses the windows shell, this program will work fine in safe mode.  All my music files within the program areaccessibleand play fine.
What's going on here?  Is the HD damaged?  Boot sector damaged?
How do I access the BIOS on my N500?
What button do I press to boot from a CD? (winXP - so I can run the recovery function)
    Thanks for your help!

Update : I ran the HD checking software in rescue and recovery, and it failed the "surface" disk check and a handful of the SMART checks.  This prettymuch confirms that the HD is going?
This will be the second drive that has been replaced for me - Is this laptop just not as durable as I think?  It sees a lot of travel, but I definately don't abuse it.

  • Lion does not boot properly

    Hello,
I recently updated to Lion (via the App store) - the installation itself was trouble-free.
Now, whenever I restart, the loading screen with the spinning animation lasts at least five minutes and more often than not, hangs there indefinately. I then have to do a hard power-off and on a second attempt, usually end-up at the login screen.
Clearly this isn't quite right! I've repaired permissions etc.
I'm also running Windows 7 on Bootcamp and have no problems at all booting into this alternative OS - lightening fast in comparison!
    Has anybody any ideas?
    Thanks,
    J.
    PS.
If you're interested, I also have another problem in a separate question!

This is frequently indicative of a problem with the Snow Leopard system you upgraded, so I would suggest that you start with reinstalling Lion:
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
If this doesn't help any then the next thing to do is erase the drive before reinstalling Lion. You should make a reliable backup before proceeding to this procedure. It's almost the same as the above except instead of repairing the hard drive in Disk Utility you erase the hard drive:
Select your boot volume from the DU sidebar (usually called Macintosh HD.) Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window, set the format type to Mac OS Extended, Journaled, then click on the Erase button. When it's done quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Once Lion has been installed and running allow a couple of hours for Spotlight to index the drive. Then you can begin the process of restoring your files and reinstalling your third-party applications.
This will be time consuming but it provides a very clean and reliable installation especially if you avoid installing third-party software that isn't fully compatible with Lion.

  • IMac not booting properly

Hello all. I have an Intel-based iMac which runs fine when it boots up, yet the way my MAC boots seems weird. When I turn on my MAC it comes up with a white screen; the white screen will hold firm for about a minute then a globe will appear. The globe appears light and will blink and get darker. This will happen for about 3 minutes then the apple will appear and the sign screen will appear. Is there any fix for this?

    Hi Nique7411
Go to: *Apple > System Preferences > Startup Disk* select the *Mac OS X 10.6.4 on Macintosh HD* icon *Click on the lock to prevent further changes* and then click the Restart button.
Then if that doesn't fix it, check: *Apple > System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items* and report back with your list of items in *These items that will open automatically when you log in*.

  • Toshiba Satellite WILL NOT BOOT PROPERLY -- URGENT -- HELP NEEDED

    Hey guys,
I have a Toshiba Satellite P745-S4217, running x64 Windows 7 Home Premium. On Saturday (19/4), a problem occured where my computer automatically booted in Safe Mode. Normally I wouldn't start my PC in Safe Mode, so I turned the computer off to reboot it normally. When I went to reboot, though, at the *Starting Windows* screen, it went straight to a BSOD and rebooted by itself, then giving me to option to Launch Startup Repair or try again. Of course, I went to launch the Startup Repair, but then it simply went into a black screen and stayed there for around 4 hours before I chose to reboot again. The second time I rebooted, it did the BSOD thing again and gave me the two options. Every time I chose Start Normally, it went into the BSOD and returned to the menu, and every time I launched Startup Repair, it went into the black screen.
By Sunday (20/4) I'd had enough of this. When I went to boot my computer, I rapidly tapped F12 to go into setup and reset the BIOS (another forum told me to do so). After this, however, when the computer went to reboot, it displayed a screen that said 'Select Proper Boot Device or Reboot and Insert Boot Device' or something along those lines. Since I don't have a Win7 Boot Disc (my PC came without that, a recovery disc, OR an installation disc since Win7 was preinstalled), I was thinking about creating a boot disc to solve the problem. However, since my PC runs slowly, I was also contemplating creating a restore disc that would return the PC to factory defaults -- yet, I don't have a hard drive to backup my files onto (I also have no way of doing this even if I did, remember my PC refuses to boot). Are there anymore solutions I could try to boot the computer correctly, or will I have to reinstall Win7? PLEASE HELP!

You might want to try any other suggestions in this article that you haven't already tried:
What can I do if my Windows 7 or Windows Vista laptop won't start?

  • Satellite L500-1XL does not boot properly - stay in loop

The above machine was working fine until today.
Then when I switched it on, it just sat on the Toshiba page, asking me to press F2 or F12.
I wasn't sure what to do so I ran the (factory) recovery disk which all seemed to install ok but....
Now when I switch it on, it shows the initial Toshiba splash screen and stays there until I manually press F12 to select to boot from the hard drive.
From there it takes me to Windows Boot Manager and I have to select the windows 7 o/s.
Then I get the "starting windows for the first time" screen for a minute or so until it restarts and I have to press F12 again.
It just repeats all this over and over in loops.
I've tried the recovery disk again but the same is happening.
I've been in the bios and made sure the hard drive is set as the first boot device, and I've set the bios to default, but nothing seems to make any difference.
    Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
Instead of using the factory recovery disk, I tried a retail windows 7 disk and deleted all partitions. Windows 7 then fully installed and I no longer have the loop.
At switch on though, I STILL have to press F12 to select the hard drive, then select Windows 7. The laptop then boots up without incident and is useable.
I thought maybe the master boot record might be damaged on the hard drive so I've just fitted another sata drive, but still the laptop behaves the same.
I've tried updating the bios with the latest version as well but that has made no difference.
Why is this happening? I've since found out that I can press ENTER at the splash screen instead of F12 if this offers any clues. This takes me to Windows Boot Manager as well where Windows & is the only choice. Pressing enter again allows windows to boot normally.

Yes, I mean 3 Gigs total.  I read on Soyo\\\\\\\'s website that it\\\\\\\'s MoBo\\\\\\\'s do that and will only support 3 Gigs at 2100, hence me underclocking my RAM at 266 Mhz.  It would have been really useful if MSI\\\\\\\'s documentation would have said the same thing.  3 Gigs at 2700 is the reason my system would NOT even POST.  Where did you see that it only supports 2 Gigs at 2700?[/COLOR]
That's not unusual that you would have to do a fresh install of your OS to get it running properly. As far as RAM these boards are very sensitive to types of RAM so You may have trouble with your sticks. As far as 3 1 Gig sticks, unless you are doing some very heavy graphics it is probably overkill and you will find better performance with two sticks running in dual mode. Try it and see which way it runs better for you!
