DMS Connector and DMS Search Problem

Hi all,
        We have a requirement of connectiing DMS with KM.I have installed DMS Business Package and Configured Repository Manager.Here are the Details
Description: DMS Repository Manager
Prefix (must start with /):/dmsrm
Repository Services:comment,discussion,feedback,layout,personalnote,properties,rating,statemngt
Property Search Manager:< If i set this too CM Search Manager,in Document Explorer it is throwing an error "Uable to find the Repository Manager"

ACL Manager Cache:   Not Set
Windows Landscape System:   Blank
Lock Manager:   com.sap.pct.plm.dmsrmconnectorforkm.DMSRMMutableLockManager

Now if i dont set the Property search Manager,i can bring all the documents from DMS system.But iam not able to search the document,while indexing it is throwing an error (Retrieval Error).
If i set the Property search manager,In document Explorer it is throwing an error ( Unable to find the repository Manager).
Anybody having any clue on this,Plz do give me a solution for this.

Hi John,
the performance issue is not the TREX search. In most cases it takes long time to check if the user have at least read permissions to the document listed in the search result list. That's why it takes more time to display 20 hits than 5 hits.
Using more or less repository services doesn't change ther performance for the search result.
Using a user with Content Administrator permission must have the best performance because in this case ther document permissions are not checked.
To improve the performance you can try to use a ACL cache or increase the size of the ACL cache.

Ms 7030 JFP1 connectors and power on problem

I have built my new PC and the damm thing will not power up. I have played around with various JFP1 configerations for the connecters, following the user a manual. When i turn the power on i get nothing from the power supply or fans, its just dead. I know the power supply is good, i tested it on an old system. Can anyone help???
my specs are
1. MS 7030 k8n neo fsr (the one with 2 SATA slots not 4)
2. AMD 64 processor 3700

i'm not sure. i've done this a couple of times before on various motherboards (by accident of course ). if you power up with the CMOS jumper in Clear position, nothing happens. move the jumper back, and then it powers on as normal (obviously with BIOS default settings). i think its actually moving the jumper while the system is powered on that is to be avoided...
however, i'm not going to recommend anyone tries powering a board on with CMOS jumper set to clear just "out of curiosity"

BP DMS Connector for KM 1.0 & ECC 5

Hi All,
I'm trying to configure DMS Connector on EP6 SP16
with ECC 5 as a backend system.
I imported the BP DMS Connector and created a system in the portal that connects to the ECC 5 system.
The connection is available and the backend system
contains DMS repositories and a selection variant
that displays 1000 documents, but when I enter the
Document Explorer in the portal I can only see the Dynamic Folder and it is empty.
When I use an IDES 4.7 system as the backend I can see all the folders and the documents inside.

Could you guys help me sort a prob, am facing on DMS connector front.
We followed the documentation for dms connector and when we clicked on document explorer all i get is a system error
System Error
An exception occurred during the program execution. Below you will find technical information pertaining to this exception that you might want to forward to your system administrator.
Exception Class: class com.sap.netweaver.bc.rf.common.exception.IOOperationFailedException
Exception Message: Connection Failed: Connection setup failedConnection Failed: Nested Exception. Failed to get connection. Please contact your admin.
What might have gone wrong ? Could you please advice me on this front ?

DMS Connector error while creating folder and uploading document.

Hi,
I have configure DMS connector on Portal with ECC. We are able to see /dmsrm -->Dynamic folder and also variant available in ECC and files in variant.
When i try to create new folder in variant, i am unable to create folder . It give me error.
The item could not be created because an exception occurred in the framework
Also i get same errror when i upload new document in same variant.
Please help out.

Hi Biren,
Is your issue resolved?
Even I am not able to upload/create documents.
One thing I learnt is you can not create/upload files at the variant level.
You need to create a subfolder under the variant and then you cna create/upload files.
But for me at the subfolder level I am getting "No document Type Specified error"

DMS Connector for KM and KM API

Our Client has SAP Content Server installed in the landscape, and would like to use SAP Portal (NW 7.3) KM API capabilities for document management (attachements on Custom portal application developed via WebDynpro for Java).
Inorder to connect to the Content Server to SAP Portal as one of the repository, DMS Connector for KM is used (got to know this via some posts on SDN).
I am still unclear if KM API can be used document retrieval and save to Content Server direcly and seconldy about the possibility of having correct version of DMS Connector.
Any inputs on the above two points would be helpful.

DMS-KM connector and active version in DMS

I was wondering if it possible to bring back only the active version of a document using the DMS connector?? We created a varient but do not see anywhere to specify that we only want to Active version to be returned... so for each document we get every version...

Hi Derek,
if this is not a configuration option in the DMS repository manager, does it at least return a KM property for "active=yes/no" or similar?
If it does that, you could implement your own repository filter on that basis or access the DMS resources via query-based taxonomies that either do or do not allow certain values for that property.

Timing on installing and configuring DMS Connector

I have read many of the documentation that the help offers regarding the Business package of DMS Connector, but i am not clear on what are the steps involved in the configuration.
Does anyone have a check list of what are the steps involved in the installation of these Business Package.

First time iset up Sol8 Native LDAP login, it took me three days. Now it takes me an hour or so.
Setting up LDAP is easy, setting up LDAP for solaris8 login (replacement for NIS) is a bit hard, because you need to know/have all the LDIF files, aci's etc.

DMS Connector for KM : I see only one document type from the document area

Hi,
The DMS connector is installed successfully on KM.
I can display folder tree and documents but I see only one type of document.
I mean, when I use transaction OAC0, I see different content repository defined in DMS.
I wonder where is the setting that specified which content is link to the DMS connector for KM.

Hello Zbynek,
I installed the DMS once, but my experience how to use it is poor.
In the Backend ( Transaction CV01N i think,) you can store search variants using the prefix you have defined for the DMSRM (default is KM_<theName>). This variants can be used to filter out several documents. There must be a way to give authorizations on them. Maybe you will have to use a security manager, i don't know.. in our case the user persistence (authScheme) was SAP-System an no TREX involved.
It is not much, but maybe it helps...

DMS Connector for KM 1.0 set DMS subfolders as root for DocumentExplorer

I have three folders under the root folder of DMS Connector:
Bills
Tickets
TechnicalData
I want an independent document explorer iView for the first two and the third one not being displayed on the EP.
So I put '/dmsrm/Bills' as root navigation folder and initial navigation folder. If I do this the Document Explorer shows an error saying the selected resource does not exist or is not available. If i set '/dmsrm' folder there is no problem but then I can't separate different subfolders in different iViews.
How can I make it for the subfolders to be the root folder of Document Explorer?

BP Dms Connector no show files

HI,
We are at EP 7.0 SP 18 and ECC 6.0
I deploy the BP DMS Connector KM 1.0 ( BPDMSCONN00_0-20000787)
We assign the Role Document Explorer
We follow the instructions in the Library.
In the role we see the carpet dmsrm and below it the carpet Dynamic Carpet
But do not see any files in the folder¡¡¡¡
We think is a problem in DMS don not permit to see the files.
someone had made the procedure in DMS and KM to see the files?.
if we pretend to create a carpet, we see some data of the DMS, so, we know the communication is correct between KM and ECC.

The variantprefix is very important. It is defined in the repository service as KM_. Use this to define variants in the DMS. They will then automatically appear in the /dmsrm.DynamicFolder as folders with the description name you gave the variant in DMS. To be able to edit documents and create folders, you need to ensure that you have the Document Manager role assigned to the user who will be maintaining. this role is delivered with the Business package for DMS Connector for KM. Further info can be found in the documentation "Business Package for DMS Connector for KM" that you can obtain from the following website: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/contentportfolio then select the Package documentation Link.
Also, set the properties repository service in the DMSRM repository manager. This will help in indexing the documents should you have Trex installed.
Just a thought, though. Instead of using the Document Explorer, it may be better to provide your users with a KM Navigation Iview, with Breadcrumbs removed and Presenation changed. Alternatively, create a web page (or pages) to the variants in the Dynamic Folder and have a graphical user interface instaed of the explorer interface. Just a thought.

DMS connector

Hi,
I face some problems with the new DMS connector (ECC6):
I have assign the Document Manager role to a user (this user have full right in the ERP system), in the iview I see under the dynamic folder a KM folder (a variant system KM have been created in ERP system).
1- I see the list of the files in the KM folder, and I would like to see the FID containing these files. How to make this, if its possible?
2 If I want to create a new folder or make an upload since the document manager, I have the error message: The item could not be created because an exception occurred in the framework.
3 - If I want to copy or move a file I have the error message: Target must be a real document-based structure.
4 And to finish, I dont see the Public Documents under the Dynamic Folder, nevertheless I have created a document structure with the document number EDIPUBLICROOTFOLDER in the ERP system.
For your information, I work on E P 7.0 SP11 (Netweaver 4s)

KM DMS Connector isuue

Hello all,
I'm working with DMS Connector but I don't know the limitation of this repository.
Is it read only ? How can I create a Document inside the Portal KM and store it under the DMS repository?
Is the a full documentation about this connector, all I can find is demo PowerPoint presentation without technical information.

if you are using:
"Business Package for DMS Connector for KM"
from:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/contentportfolio
then you will be accessing the DMS through the KM iViews.
Another Business Package you will find when searching the Content Portfolio for "PLM" is:
"Business Package for Design Collaboration"

Dms connector no dynamic folder

I'm trying to setup the dms connector. I'm stuck in the typical 'no dynamic folder' problem. As I've read on sap documentation and in the forums, I've installed the plugin 2003 or later. I've also configured the 'variant prefix' as 'KM' at the portal dmsrm repository and have created some 'KM_XXX' selection variants at cv04n. Unfortunately, the only thing I see in the 'Document Explorer' is the dms EDIPUBLICROOTFOLDER folder
These are the software versions:
1. DMS connector v1.0
2. PI v2004_1_470 SP SAPKIPZI5C level 12
3. PI_BASIS v2005_1_620 level 0 no SP
4. R/3 v4.7
5. Netweaver 2004s stack 9, portal v7
any clues?

Would be grateful if you can share some documents on the DMS front...We are planning to integrate the portal with DMS ...
One basic question are the documents stored within the DMS already indexed and portal will just point to it ....or we need to index them seperately....

Business Package for DMS Connector for KM

Hi,
We have installed the Business Package for DMS Connector for KM 1.0
after downloading from the SolMan. After the install we wish to
configure it to point to the proper repository in our R/3 landscape.
But when we go to System Administration->System Configuration-
>Knowledge Management ->Content Management ->Repository Managers we do
not see a repository called DMSRMRepositoryManager. We are stuck
without this as the iView: Document Explorer is not working.
Please let us know what is the problem with this.
We are on
1) ECC6.0
2) EP7.0 SPS10
3) Business Package for DMS Connector for KM 1.0
