DMS document display problem

dear sir
I am facing one problem with DMS SAP.
in some computers, files like jpeg,pdf,bmp etc are opening (display) without any problem.while opening system is asking for a program in which the file should open.if we select the relevant program from the windows, system is using that software and opens the file.
but in some other computers the above said files are not opening and not asking for the windows program. system is giving one error saying this file doesnot have a program associated with it for performing this action.create an association in the set associations control panel.
in c:\temp folder system is creating the files without extension.but if original files are copied to the destop from DMS  then we can open the documents through selecting relevant softwares.
both systems are with same configurations and with same softwares installed.
can you give some guidelines to solve this problem
thanking you

Hi Bala c.,
As you mentioned you've set the OLE2 flag for application BMP. Have you set this
flag only for application type "1" (Display) as is should not be used for type "2" (Edit) and "3" (Print).
Further please check if you have maintained a path were the temporary files are normally were created. You can do this in transaction DC20, by maintaining a path like C:\temp\ for the relevant frontend type.
Further please check which path is maintained in the option screen (Alt+F12) for local data. Please note that a user always needs full read and write permission for these paths. Because note 741388 do not prevent that a temporary copy is created. It just avoids that this copy remains on your PC after closing the display.
For further testing you can check report DMS_KPRO_READ and try to download the original BMP file from the KPRO. If this works you can be sure that there is no KPRO problem.
Best regards,
Christoph

  • DMS - Document display without local copy - EAI Viewer

    Hi,
    I have configured the BMP image file with EAI viewer in my DMS system. when i display in CV03N, the document is opening and download in to my Temp folder. After closing the document, the Temp folder has the image. I don't want that functionality.
    So i have applied the note 741388. After that i got the below error message.
    http://<IP of content Server>:<Port>/ContentServer/ConSer  could not be accessed.
    But it is working for MS Office application with %OUTPLACE%
    I have understand below info when I debug.
    It is generating the below URL.
    http://<ContentServerIP>:<Port>/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?get&pVersion=0046&contRep=ZCS_TEST&docId=4602CBC59D5E6B7AE100000096000B58&compId=23-02-07_1536.jpg&accessMode=r&authId=CN%3DGSD&expiration=20070324085934&secKey=MIHxBgkqhkiG9w0BBwKggeMwgeACAQExCz
    But when i copy the URL and paste it in ie, i got the BMP Picture. So i think it is not the problem of accessing rights. It may be Data Carrier or Inconsistancy in Tables.
    Kindly through some lights on this.

But when we looked at the distribution log using T-Code CVI9, the status of the document remains as SY and the processing of the distribution stops. Hi Athol,
    i have checked the workflow config accordingly,
    workflow templates 20000104 and 20000137. are active.
    a. 20000104 BUS1082 x 2 (Initiated and Resend)
    b. 20000137 BUS1082002 x 1 (Resend)
    But the Release status for these templates is NOT DEFINED, should it be RELEASED & the container tab for 20000104 shows a warning icon(Mandatary import parameter)on partial order & intial value not set & same for 20000137 shows warning icon on distribution order package & initial value not set.
    what does this mean, is there any setting required for this?
    2. Transaction SWU3 – ensure that all has been generated (activated). Pay special attention to Maintain Runtime Environment -> Configure RFC destination.
    I HAVE checked the above all are active except Configure RFC destination, what is the setting required for the same.
    the 3, 4,& 5 setting what u have suggested are ok,i have checked them.
    Please suggest for the 1 & 2 points.
    thanks in advance.

  • How to Display DMS document in Enterprise Portal

    Hi All,
    I have a scenario as described below.
    I have a workitem which goes to user in his/her UWL  for  execution. When  this  workitem gets  executed  it  displays an Adobe Interactive form.
    Iin this  Adobe form i am giving links to DMS(Document Management System)  documents. So  when this link is clicked the related DMS document files should  get  displayed.
    Thru BAPI i m able to get DMS document number its  Object Links and  details of the  files (PDF,DOC,XLS etc..) attached to it.
    But I am not able to display this attached files on my enterprise portal. I debugged in R/3 and found out standard Function Modules which are used to display this attached  documents of DMS and wrap them in RFC and called this RFC when user   clicks link on Adobe Form in EP.
    The problem I m facing is this RFC is not able to display the attached document files of DMS document on Portal front end. it gives error as u201CException condition "NOT_SUPPORTED_BY_GUI" raised., error key: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE"
    The reason behind why it is running successfully in R/3 is, it gets  front end as SAPGUI but  while we execute it thru portal it does not get frontend type as SAPGUI cause  portal always runs in Browser not on SAPGUI.
    So, Is there any way to display this DMS document files on Enterprise Portal?? Or  is it  possible using Knowledge Management?? Or any other standard  BAPI or FMs which can be used for the same  purpose??

  • Problem with Excel hiperlinks in DMS Documents

    Hi. I have a very strange problem. I add several excel files to a DMS document and I archive them in a server.
    These files contain several sheets and a lot of hiperlinks to different parts of excel file. When I open these excel files to see them, Excel open them but the hiperlinks don't run. Excel shows me next message: "Unexpected error".
    I have analyzed the excel documents and I've seen SAP is protecting all cells and sheets (before I archive them, they are unprotected) and, if I download them to local disk, they are "only reading".
    I hope somebody can help me.
    Best regards, Iván.

    so you're links are also working when you move you're excel files to a different folder ?? and when you move the files to different folders ?
    even when you link between files it is still imperative that the file knows where it links to and can find the location. when you upload the files to SAP they get a new location in the vault. which doesn't necessary has to mean that they will be placed alltogether in the same folder in the vault.
    I'm nog very familiar with the DMS customizing but perhaps there are a few options over there you can check.
    we use dms only to store the location of our files. so the excel files remain on the same location as they are now. only in dms the link towards the file is maintained with all the additional info.
    first question in customizing dms is whether you want the files accesible from outside SAP or want to use a SAP fault. we choice the first since other applications also need to access the files directly.

  • IView Displaying sets of 15 DMS documents at a time.

    I have an iView which is displaying DMS documents. It currently displays 15 at a time with "1-15 16-30 31-45 46-53 > >>  / 53 "
    displayed at the bottem of the list.
    How do I get it to display more than 15?
    Even better if someone could point me to some HELP from SAP on this topic. Or a way of finding help on this issue.

  • Display problems when adding a document

    Hi,
    one of our customers is facing a strange problem. He runs SBO 8.8 PL18 on Windows Server 2008 R2, and the users work in SBO through Terminal Server. I will do my best to explain what happens.
    When one adds a manual journal entry, the screen flickers the same number of times there are rows. Let me explain the flickering. Suppose you have 10 rows. When you click Update, the table that displays the rows is kind of refresh or repainted 10 times, then fields are empty ready for a new journal entry. The best way I can describe what one can see is that the table is rolled down as many times as there are rows. Unfortunately I have not been able to record the flickering.
    This take some times, and users fell eyes fatigue because of the flickering. I have seen it on my own computer, so this problem does not relate to the computer used to work with SBO. I am told that it happens as well in A/P Invoices.
    The only hint I have is that display problem does not takes place with a TS established on Server 2003.
    Any hint at what this can be, has someone else seen this ?
    Thanks

  • DMS Document not getting created thru Webdynpro ABAP Strange Problem

    Dear all,
    My requirement is that I have a Webdynpro ABAP application sitting on SAP Server1 and I am having a FileUploadUI Element in there for uploading files and we have SAP Server2 with the DMS configured. So, what we have done is we have an RFC in SAP Server2 and we are calling it from our webdynpro ABAP application sitting on SAP Server1. And we are calling BAPI_Create2 with all the necessary parameters in this RFC to create the DMS document with the file from webdynpro ABAP application. But its not working. I am passing the Presentation Server File Path of the File to the BAPI_create2.Even if I write the file to the application server of SAP Server2 and then pass this file path to the BAPI_Create2 then also it doesn't work but when I execute this RFC locally in the SAP Server2 with the presentation server file path It executes successfully.
    I don't know what I am missing.
    Please help.
    Thanks and regards,
    --Sonal

    Dear Thomas,
    Suppose I have got the file copied to the application server in SAP Server2 using datasets from WDA in SAP server1.
    Now I have an RFC say ZFILE_UPLOAD in SAP Server2 for which we have made an SAP ABAP RFC Connection from SAP Server1. In this RFC I am calling BAPI_create2 using the application server filepath(of SAP Server2) in docfile parameter along with ur suggested destination then also it doesn't work. Gives an error that "error in storing and checking file" i.e. Error 253.
    One more query how to handle the file upload of different file types say I am uploading a pdf file from my webdynpro abap application in SAP server1. Then I get the xstring and pass it to ZFILE_UPLOAD and convert it into binary and write it there in SAP Server2 using datasets. Is it possible to upload any kind of file and then creating the DMS document out of it?
    and how to call this RFC?
    Thanksn and regards,

  • Problem with document display and gl account update

    Hi, I am facing a strange issue.
    When I post a document using FB50 or FB60, document is being posted and document number
    is generated successfully. However, when I go to document display I get a error messge
    this document does not exist in company code for the fiscal year 2009.
    When I check the GL Accounts, the GL accounts are also not being updated.

  • Page numbers in thumbnails & document display/status bar do not match

    I am using Acrobat Standard 6.0...documents that I have assembled using separate PDFs that I have scanned or printed to PDF. I am frequently deleting/inserting/replacing pages in the documents. I find that when I select a certain page in the page thumbnails (let's say, 60), and then go back to the document display, I am consistently sent to a different page. Usually it is about 4 pages back (i.e. page 56 in this example), but sometimes I am sent back to the first page. This didn't use to happen & I'm not sure why it started but it has been going on for months. It happens in all of the PDF files that I am using of this type. I just recently started using bookmarks and I seem to be having similar issues, in that some bookmarks that were linked to a certain place on a certain page are now taking me to a location 4 pages previous to the original target. I read the help and tried using Number Pages in the Options on the page thumbnails tab, but this didn't seem to do anything. Does anyone have a suggestion for me? Thanks.

    Hi,
    She is the only one affected and you don't have the problem with the same document, I doubt if her Office is updated? In earlier versions of Office there was this issue and we could easily solve it by keeping Office updated.
    Please learn from Update your computer:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/word-help/update-your-computer-HA010354322.aspx
    Repairing Office from Control Panel is also suggested.
    We can also have the user start Word in Safe Mode to determine if this issue is 3rd-party add-ins related:
    Press Win + R and type “winword.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
    If there is no trouble printing the document, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.

  • BO XI 3.1 Infoview document refresh problem

    Hi,
    We have a cluster for BO XI 3.1 in this way:
    - Servers A & B in cluster.
    - Server C hosting CMS database.
    The 3 servers are on Windows Server 2003.
    Database is under SQL Server 2008 on server C.
    We encounter sometimes refresh/display problems on all Deski documents (as far as we know):
    Sometimes the documents doesn't display any data and we have to refresh the document up to 3 times before the data appears.
    Also, when changing tabs in the document, the data also disappear sometimes.
    This problem only occurs on Infoview, on both server A & B.
    We have also notice some warning messages in the event viewer log : "Transport error: Invalid object reference" from sources : BusinessObjects_fcproc, BusinessObjects_wireportserver, BusinessObjects_crproc.
    Thanks in advance for your help

    - Refer to the supported platforms document and make sure that client/server/browser/jvm confirms to supported platforms document. BO server and client should be at the same patch level.
    - Create simple report based off efashion universe and notice if the problem is reproducible from different client machines
    - open a support ticket if the issue persists.

  • BSP & DMS Document Download

    Hi All,
    I'm developing a BSP which can download a folder with documents present in SAP's DMS, to c:\temp.
    At the moment I use the EasyDMS function "Z_EASYDMS_FOLDER_EXPORT".
    During development, it worked fine because I was going through the program in debug mode. Therefor, the SAPHTTP can connect with the SAP gui.
    But when running "normallly" (not in debug), the program runs in error. It turns out that the SAPHTTP (nor SAPFTP) cannot connect and thus the documents cannot be downloaded.
    I also tried to use call functions: CVAPI_DOC_CHECKOUTVIEW, SCMS_HTTP_GET_FILE and HTTP_GET_FILE, but all with no result. I also tried to call SAPFTP & SAPHTTP directly via "SYSTEM_START_REG_SERVER" and via the build of a command and the function "RFC_START_PROGRAM".
    Again, with no result. The BSP runs in an error (HTTP 500 internal server error).
    As this is an urgent development, help would be very much appreciated!!!
    Regards,
    Sander

    Hi,
    Please follow the steps to Download a file from DMS or Display in Browser.
    1. Call BAPI  'BAPI_DOCUMENT_GETDETAIL2'
      call function 'BAPI_DOCUMENT_GETDETAIL2'
        exporting
          documenttype         = document_key-doctype
          documentnumber       = document_key-docnumber
          documentpart         = document_key-docpart
          documentversion      = document_key-docversion
          getcomponents        = 'X'
          getdocdescriptions   = 'X'
          getdocfiles          = 'X'
          getclassification    = 'X'
        importing
          documentdata         = documentdata
          return               = lv_return
        tables
          documentdescriptions = it_documentdescriptions
          documentfiles        = it_documentfiles
          characteristicvalues = it_characteristicvalues
          classallocations     = it_classallocations.
    2. Then call BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKOUTVIEW2
    documentfile-wsapplication = it_documentfiles-wsapplication.
    call function 'BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKOUTVIEW2'
          exporting
            documenttype    = document_key-doctype
            documentnumber  = document_key-docnumber
            documentpart    = document_key-docpart
            documentversion = document_key-docversion
            documentfile    = documentfile
            getstructure    = '1'
            getheader       = 'X'
            pf_ftp_dest     = 'SAPFTPA'
          importing
            return          = lv_return
          tables
            documentfiles   = it_co_documentfiles.
    You need to pass PF_FTP_DEST as SAPFTPA as we are calling this FM from Browser not SAP GUI and if you dont pass this value then the FM errors out because it doesn't find SAP GUI.
    3. Now call SCMS_DOC_READ to get the Binary Data of the File.
    call function 'SCMS_DOC_READ'
        exporting
          mandt                 = sy-mandt
          stor_cat              = c_storage
          doc_id                = it_co_documentfiles-file_id
        tables
          access_info           = lt_access
          content_bin           = lt_sdokcntbin.
    IT_SDOKCNTBIN is the Binary Data Table of the file you want to download.
    Now you have the binary file data which you can write on Application Server or Convert it to XSTRING and show in a web dynpro application. I am not sure how to display in BSP.

  • DMS document output in SOP report

    Hi all,
    I want to OUTPUT a DMS document in SOP Report template. But it is not reflecting in my SOP report  though I have fullfilled the prerequisites.Here are my steps that i carried out
    1)  I have linked the DMS doc. in a value assignment in user defined text.
    2) The DMS document type is SBV.
    3) The required document indicator tick is alos ensured in specify user defined text types in BASIC DATA & TOOLS in customizing.
    3)It is also ensured that the EHS <> DMS doc types are linked in customizing.
    4) I put the symbol in wwi report template under GESTDHEADE HEADER User-defined text .
    But when I run the preview (cg42) the space where I have assigned the symbol is blank.
    I even tried to put my required data in Long text in user defined text tab assigning REMARKS as user defined text type but there is no output in  REPORT when i carry out preview.
    Requesting your  comment what shall be the cause of this .
    Regards,
    Ashish pradhan

    Hello all
    the document type SBV should not be used or used only carefully regarding this. I recommend to use a customer specific document type. SBV is related to WWI report templates. Furthermore make sure that generation variant fits usage of data record in which you have set up the document which is located in the user defined text (Active indicator of usage must be set). I know cases in the area of access problemes so that the WWI could not retrieve the user defined document. PLease make sure that you have "checked" WWI layout without error (WWI Check).
    PLease check this:
    if you have uploaded e.g. an rtf file and created a value assignment and you have uploaded the document to be stored in the user defined text than the document is "there". That means: in this process the SAP EH&S process generate a new unique id which should show up in the user defined text (there somthing like this should show up: SBV WWI 0000111223 numbers...)
    Using this unique ID you can check if the document is really in DMS available. Furthermore depending on the EH&S release (support package etc.) you could check this. If you "click" with the mouse key on the unique id (refer above) the SAP EH&S system should upload directly to your client computer the document and start immediatly the corresponding application (e.g. word etc.) . In doing so you can check if the document is "really" there
    May be you need to check further DMS customizing. E.g. depending on the document you have used in upload there is a missing link to the "type" of document. .E.g. the EXCEL macro regarding standard SAP output variant links to I believe a seperate document type
    Hope that helps
    With best regards

  • DMS Document stored in SAP DB: Not shown in SAP PLM Web UI

    Dear Team,
    Is it by design that DMS documents which are stored in SAP DB are not shown in WEB UI...
    I get and error on the display document that " KPRO unchecked "
    how ever in ECC i can see the document with originals and thumbnails and complete DIR..
    Thanks for advice...!
    Best regards,
    Shashikumar BS

    Hi,
    Please check if a storage category is maintained in your system. You can use the Content Server (KPRO) storage type. Launch transaction DC10 and choose the
    relevant document type which you use. Display its details and you will find a flag called ‘Use KPRO’. Flag it to use the KPRO storage type which is recommended by SAP. You can manage your storage categories and KPRO settings by transaction CSADMIN

  • DMS document in Portal UWL

    Hello,
    I have the following requirement:
    1 - Workflow is created after the invoice image is attached to the FI document (the imagem is stored in a DMS document linked to the FI Document).
    2 - The workitem is created in the UWL. This workitem has a link to the image. When the user double clicks, the image (jpg for example) appears in the windows viewer.
    This is all. Is there any way I can do this? I see several theoritical solutions:
    1 - Retrieve the image URL (I don't know how to do this)
    2 - Attach the DMS document to the workitem. This is not good because a WebGUI windows would open with the DMS object, not the image.
    3 - ?
    Suggestions?

    Thanks Manasa.
    But my question is how to get a document from SAP - DMS (say CV03N).  If I get a document then I can convert and make it display on the BSP screen.
    Thanks,
    Krish
