DMS: entering document from cProjects

Hi,
When I try to view documents from cProjects the file type is unknown. This goes for e.g. excel. For word it is okay. I think I may not have the correct entries in the customizing activity: Define application, but I do not know what to enter. I specially think of the activity Define application for workstation in network. When I open the documents from Easy DMS it is no problem.

You can try to have a Workstation application XLS for excel files in DC30

Creation of document in CProjects which is sent to DMS system

Hi all,
I am trying to create a document in CProjects which would be linked to the DMS system. When I try to create a document with reference to another the document number is coming blank. I even tried transfering the doucment after save.
Actually I am trying to see the cycle from creation of Documents in CProjects portal to the creation of Document in the DMS system. I need to make customised changes to the Document in DMS while creation of the same.
Please help me regarding the same.

Hi Niranjani,
you can handover a document from cProjects to SAP DMS and vice versa.
Therefore you need some customizing settings: SPRO -> Cross application components -> define document types -> select one document type -> define object links -> define document type, object link (DPR_OBJLNK).
In addition you need the following setting: -> Integration with other mySAP components -> cProjects -> SAP DMS integration -> Specify document types -> define system, defaultDMS document type and status.

Now you can do the following: On tab SAP DMS in cProjects you can create a new DIR as a container (create > create link to new document info record -> continue -> select document type -> SAVE). The DIR is created when you save the project. (You can also do this in the cProjects template, so with every new project this DIR is created automatically)
Then select the container and press transfer documents -> project definition -> continue -> select the documents in cProjects you want to hand over -> press copy to dms -> save documents.
When you now press the button display document structure you should see the new DIR in SAP DMS you just created.

Download Documents from DMS in xMII

Hi,
I need to download some documents from SAP which are maintained in DMS.
I know there are some BAPIs like BAPI_DOCUMENT* and I know how to use them in ABAP , ITS and webapplication server.
But I am not able to think of how to do it in xMII.
Can some one share the details.

I modified my transaction in order to save what exactly I am getting from SAP to xMII using an image saver action block to some folder with xxxx.xls file name.
Just because of my curiosity I double clicked on the file that is just created by our transaction. It opened <b>PERFECTLY WELL</b> in MS Excel.
So your question about asking to post garbled data clarified one of the two questions I have. Is the data getting corrupted while transmitted from SAP to xMII or is the data getting corrupted while transmitted from xMII to browser.
From the above modification to transaction of saving the file to a folder and opening it in MS Excel confirmed that the data is not getting corrupted while transmitting it from SAP to xMII. From now on we have only one thing to deal with i.e. that the data from xMII to Browser.
To confirm this, I created a test transaction with only one action block with ImageLoader and in the outgoing parameters I assigned imagedata property to transaction output property FILE. and I accessed it from browser using the below URL http://xxxx/Lighthammer/Runner?OutputParameter=FILE&Transaction=TEST_DOC_TRAN&content-type=application/x-msexcel . In this case also it is showing garbled data. Just to save you time I have send you transaction and test XLS file can be of any XLS file. Just to let you know that I have configured imageloader to load file from c:\inetpub\wwwroot\ directory.

Get document from DMS to VB

Hello,
does anyone know how to get the document from DMS to a local drive, while using VB Code (with SAP Connector) or .NET?
I tried to use the 'CVAPI_DOC_CHECKIN' but it didn't work.
maybe it's the wrong function to use...
I've also tried to examine the 'CVAPI_DOC_GETDETAIL' but got an error.
does anyone has a sample code in VB or .NET to get the document from a DMS to a local file?

Error while linking dms document with cProject.

I am encountering an error while try to link the document in cProject under SAP DMS tab. The error message is
Link Not Possible: The SAP R/3 DMS document info record contains orig (Message number 26 000).

There is no link between SAP R/3 and SAP DMS server.
Please be create for RFC's through SM59 tcode.

Print DMS Document from Material master

You have mentioned two different terminologies here.
DMS
Material Master
From DMS, you need to download the attachment and the same attachment can be converted using the FM CONVERT_TO_OTF then try displaying the same into your smartform.
I'm not aware of Material Master Document attachment.
Will reply soon with that solution also.

DMS Error - Error occurred when I try to download document from storage.

I'm new to DMS and using 3rd party content server now but I faced error.
let me explain my symtom.
First, I created Content Rep. EL
Document area: DMS
storage type: HTTP content server
Version: 0046
(note that connection test is successful.)
then, I created storage category , using content rep. EL
Finally, I registered document to the content server I created, using T-CODE CV01N - Display
but after that, i can not download the registered document from content server
I just faced error message u2193
File c:\temp\_IT300807.pdf could not be accessed
However, when I select storage Cat. to DMS_C1_ST(Default DMS storage),
I can download registered document
I think I need to make some settings to use 3rd party content server.
Can I know what setting is necessary to use 3rd party content server?

Migration of SAP DMS documents from RFC Archive to SAP HTTP Content Server

Can anyone verify the correct OSS for the migration of documents from an RFC Archive repository (non SAP) in SAP DMS to a SAP Content Server HTTP Repository. Most of the OSS notes seem to indicate HTTP to HTTP migrations or based storage category migrations.
Which is the most suitable for this?

If you want to move the originals from an archive or vault to a Content
Server, please use the DMS_KPRO_CONVERT and DMS_KPRO_CONVERT2 report I
would kindly ask you to see teh documentation on DMS_KPRO_CONVERT report
in transaction SE38, which explains the whole process and gives
necessary information.
This conversion program offers two possibilites:
- Complete migration:
The meta data of the document info record and the checked-in original
application files are migrated together. The checked-in original
application files are transported into the storage catgories.
- Step-by-step migration:
In the first step meta data is migrated. The original application files
remain in the old storage data. The migration of original application
files starts after you have processed the files with the integrated
viewer and checked them into a secure storage area.

Save/Print document from DMS with Office 365

Dear All,
We are on ECC 6.0 EHP 4 of SAP. When a word document attachment is opened in DMS (CV03N) from a PC having locally installed Office 365. The document is opening up in office 365 interface inside SAP. Which is good, but we are unable to save the document on to local PC. Upon clicking the File menu, i suppose word tries to bring an additional view instead of a drop down, which was the case with earlier versions. I think this is causing the problem. Can any one suggest how to save and print documents from DMS with locally installed Office 365.?
We have figured out a work around to bring up the 'Save As' and 'Print' functionalities on to quick access tool bar. Using these shortcuts we are able to save the document but not print.

We are quite happy with the existing DMS and our intention is not to change the existing architecture. Well, now we are able to open the document and have a workaround to save to local PC. And once the document is saved to PC users are able to print.
Now we are looking for a solution to enable file menu of Office 365 within OLE container of SAP.

Access DMS documents from MDM ??

Hello folks
We have a customer that has SAP DMS (Document Management System from SAP ERP) where the product image files are stored on a SAP Content Server.
We are planning to implement MDM for rich product catalogue whereby end-users access MDM via Portal, but we need to access some documents on DMS too.
I know that there is standard PLM iviews that shows DMS documents linked to a Material, can we use these iviews to modify them so that they are launched on request of user after browsing in MDM iviews (managing same material numbers) ?
Has anyone of you made this ?
Any hint/help on this is most welcome !

We can get the Product ID from MDM Standard iview through EPCF Eventing. Based on that ID, we can fetch the documents from DMS.
I am new to DMS. Can you please share some information on fetching document links from DMS through standard or APIs?
In my scenario, i have to fetch the documents link from DMS for all Master records and store the link in MDM. Also, when a new master s created in MDM, I have to attach/upload documents for the master record and store the document link in MDM. The actual document is present in DMS. When I send the newly created Master data to ECC, I have to link the Master data and the documents in ECC also.

Use ECL viewer to view 2D/3D files.Markup and redlining features are useful for adding comments.Note that you cannot modify the native application using ECL viewer.
For editing 3d files,the particular CAD software would have to be available on the local system and necessary DC20 settings specified.
What are the system requirement?
Ensure ECL viewer is installed.

DMS massive import documents from legacy system

Hello Gurues,
I am new in DMS and I would need some guidelines in order to massively import documents from a legacy system to DMS (content server).
After that, I am expecting to be able to mass assign those documents to EHS Specification header and property level (PLM).

for mass import or upload the document use LSMW or BDC method. For addign the new objects as your objects are not in DMS standard objects list use the following link:

I am able to get the functionality for CJ20N - 'WBS Element' Object (Screenshot attached). Can someone pl suggest if I am missing something to get the same functionality for Sale Order / PR & PO.
For Sale Order - I believe the 'Create' icon shall be 'Enabled' once I navigate - Extras -> Documents.

This button is only displayed if you use the new screen logic (see note 1066915) and when you have maintained the necessary customizing for the required document types and objects in transaction DC10.
So I would kindly ask you to go to transaction DC10 and mark a document type where the necessary object is linked under 'Define object links'. Choose the right object and display its details by double-click. Then you will see the field 'Create document' where you have to enter a value '1' (using transaction) or '2' (simple creation). Please enter a value and flag the 'Additional function' checkbox too.

Can we call DMS Attachment Function from ECC to SRM

We have the below requirement.
   a) User Create the RFx(SRM) from PR(ECC) vai CPPR functionality.Now during creation we need to copy the DIR Links of PR to RFx .
b) In SRM RFx ,at item level we need to place a button called "DIR" ,when user click on the button , we need to bring the   DMS Attachment POP UP from ECC to SRM , where user can add new DIR or Delete the DIR.
           Can we do the requirement "b" ? , is there way we can call the "DMS Attachment Function" from SRM? . Kindly share your thoughts.

Dear Channa,
due to your screenshot I saw that you are still working with old object link dynpros.
To grant that allways the currenct screens and authorizations were called please maintain also the value "1" into the "Authorization" column. For further informations on this maintainance please see the attached note 1066915. It's important that you not enter the mentioned screen number wihtout the leading "1" as this number is added automatically by the system (e.g. object MARA 1201 maintain like MARA 201). You can do this in customizing under:
Transaction SPRO
> Cross-Application-Component
     > Document Management
          > Control Data
              > Define screen for object links
If you need the dynpro number or object you will find all standard SAP objects and their screen number in function module CV130 (Screens) by transaction SE80. Please maintain all necessary SAP objects.
