DMS help !!!

Hi Experts,
I am new to Document management system.
1) Is the document management system (DMS) needs some extra installations or DMS is shipped with sap r/3?
2) Can any one send me document on DMS!!
I dont know how and where to start learning DMS.

As per my understanding giving answer for your questions.
1. Don't Understand.
2. In BOM you can link/View documents in three place.1) Head material Details 2) Item Material Details & 3) Component level.
In WBS element in PS - Structure you can view document.
3. Don't Understand.
4. Don't Understand.
5. CA - Cross Application.
DMS is Cross application component.

DMS Requirements for an Hospital

Hi Guys,
I wanted to know if some one has worked on DMS for a healthcare solution.I have found two objects Patient and Case as object links in DMS So please advice what is the best solution to implement DMS for a hospital.
Is DMS helpful or should we use Archievlink also for this solution.

NPAT(Patient Master Data(general)) and NFAL(cases) are IS-H Objects as i checked in the database table .
IS-H: Patient Number
This field contains the identifier used by all institutions of a client to identify a patient uniquely.
IS-H: Case Number
Unique ID number assigned to a case for all institutions of a client.
We need the features like OCR,Indexing,search,security etc for documents related to patients.
As in a hospital when you visit they will open you a file and attach the documents for the patient and whenever u visit the hospital they can check the documents electronically .

I am John.
I am working with DMS and new to this topic!
Our situstion is v r shifting our hard copy documents to SAP - DMS and retrieving documents through WEBdocuments(BSP).
I have done the things in Tcode-CV01N.I don't know how to proceed further.
Does any one kindly help me out with the procedure on DMS. or how to proceed further.

Good day,
T-Code CV01n, (Create) is just one of the many codes that are used in SAP DMS.
Amongst other things, before starting the use of CA-DMS, you need to have the "Out of the box" DMS configuration modified to best suit the needs of your company.
Things like status networks, automatic routing, digital signatures and workflow, web access, classification and object linking, to name a few, are all things that need to be considered before use.
I have never known of anyone that has used SAP DMS as-is.

DMS Data Migration-Help required

Hi,
I don't have enough knowledge on DMS Data migration.
In our recent Implementation, we are implementing SAP DMS.
Our client has more legacy data which is in their server. So we have to upload all the data's into SAP DMS.
I gone through few SCN threads and understand that LSMW & BDC will be used for Data migration.
Which is the best method for Data migration?
We are having 50+ document types and it has different processes (status network), Classification & few Object links.
Please advice me and provide me some examples to upload legacy data in DMS.

You may check feasibility on these approaches for your scenario.
We are having 50+ document types and it has different processes (status network), Classification & few Object links.
Creating these configurations into SAP is one time and should not be a problem.
I gone through few SCN threads and understand that LSMW & BDC will be used for Data migration.
Which is the best method for Data migration?
How much volume of data do you have in legacy system ?
Have a thought on whether do you really need to migrate all these data into SAP DMS ???
OR
You can configure the DMS system and start fresh leaving the document in legacy system as it is.

Help in DMS needed.

Dear, Gurus.
I have a small problem that I would like to resolve if possible.
I create dms document attached a text file to it and assign it to my sales order object, then save.
When I go to va03 display and choose the dms document that is attached with it. I see my dms document and attachment of text file. When I open it and write something it is saving to that dms. I want to give the user only authorization to see the attachment but not have the right to write and save anything. How can I do this.
I hope scenario is pretty much clear.
In other words, anybody who opens a transactional screen if it be order, delivery or whatever, should see it yes but when he double clicks on his dms document he should not be able to write anything on the attached text file to that dms document.
Right so when user double clicks his dms document he will see an attachment to that dms. When he double clicks the text file for example. he can see and write even on that same text file. I dont want him to be able to do that.

As you say, you cannot control the application to be used, but you can control if the document can be checked out / checked in into DMS (so it can be changed locally but not updated into the content server).
For that, you should have a look into authorization objects in DMS and set the rights to read, and take out the update. With that authorization object you won't see anymore the pencil button to modify, but just a read button.
Edited: I think the authorization object you may look for is C_DRAW_DOK

Authorization Group (BEGRU) search help required in Easy DMS

Hi all,
I had defined some value in authorization group (BEGRU) in SAP. When i opened the Document using CV01N/ CV02N transaction, then F4 help is available to me.
but when i opened the same document via SAP Easy DMS 7.0, Search help functionality is not there.
How could i activate this.
Pls.. Suggest.

Hello Sheo,
EasyDMS does not provide search help for Authorization object as of the latest release. The search help achieved by customization of the domain BEGRU does not reflect in EasyDMS.
To achieve this, you can enhance easydms interface by using either easydms plugins or EasyDMS custom tab.

DMS-Object link to business partner (ISU-Module) required. Plz help.

Hi all,
I require to give an object link from DMS to Business partner of ISU module t code BP.
So checked up in SPRO- Control data- maintain key feilds, & i found that BUT001 is the transparent table which is used here. so i inserted the same in object link for my document type, but there was no screen no defined to it so i gave the screen no as 500, the tab has appeared under the objectlink tab in DIR, but the screen is not appearing, it is blank, also in the business partner Transaction the DIR table is not appearing.
What should i do? is there any other setting required, or the table which i have found is wrong. Plz help.

Help required in DMS Installation

Hi,
I am planning to install DMS 6.0 system.
I didnt find any proper installation/configuration guide in SAP service marketplace. Also, in help.sap.com the documentaion is not at all technical. Also, the guide i find is eDMS which is just the client.
Can someone guide me properly how to install DMS. What are the prerequisite for installing DMS.
What is the procedure to install DMS? Do i need to install content server for DMS? What configuration needs to be done in ECC system to access DMS system?
Please help me in this.

SAP DMS can found under( SAP GUI)
SAP ERP(customization) Central Component >> Cross-Application Components >> Document Management"
And in SAP menu(user):
Logistic-> Central functions->Document management system->Document
Contentserver installation is depending on user requirement.
If you have not installed content server no problem, but to start with DMS functionality the data starage will be in SAP valt or DB .

DMS-mistake-pleasse help

Hello experts,
Need help on the below.
For client we are using KRPO, content server.
Hence in DC20, by mistake some one has defined data carrier type as PC in archive section instead of server front end section and have put default and sap system in the data carrier sections of define archives.
As this is a cross client i am not able to to delete and i get an error saying that "You cannot use data carrier Default - try displaying possible entries"
I am in fix now...please help on the same.

1) When you said MaxDB, you mean to say i should tell my basis guy to change it the entity in driver to MaxDB from Live Cache?
     ==> This is recommendation from SAP in case you have issues with checkin the original documents into DMS repository.
            Please observe and later perform changes if required.
2) When i checked in CSADMIN, i was able to see the green color stating customizing ok and running status in over view tab. Is this fine?
   ==> Configuration is ok.
3) Now should i do any more testing?
      => Technical no more testing is required.
4) While checking the file in CV01n which storage catagory need to be selected? and should i perform any actions behind the same.
==> you may need to perform the following
     a) Create storage category if not done so and assign this content repository to this storage category.
     b) create a test doc type. Create relevant status.
     c) create a test DMS document using cv01n for doc type created in step b. Attach a original document to it. Check-in and store the same into DMS respository by making selection of Storage category created in step a.
    d) If everything ends well, your configuration is correct. Else revisit your configuration done so far.

Hi Hareesh,
The Std MD04 program populates the data in the table control with respect to MDKE structure. It uses FM "MD_SEARCH_MDKEX" for searching the value, since i had to customize this program with more than 15 fields in the table control i have changed the structure to ZMDKE from MDKE and populated the same to the table control.
Since the std search is with respect to MDKE structure i am not able to achieve the find functionality in my customized program.
Replacing all the std includes, classes and FM from MDKE to ZMDKE is a very tedious process so wanted to know is there any work around for this problem.
Please let me know if any possible solutions.

Hi DMS Chekin : Help Need (Urgent)

Hi Guys,
I am new to DMS , but i started to explore DMS to integrate it with XI system to upload Documents.
Scenario is like this:
FileServer (Client) ---> XI --- > DMS System
I use "BAPI_DOCUMENT_Checkin2" to checkin Document : After working with this bapi quiet some time , i came across many strange behaviour.Well intially i was not able to checkin documents , by debugging i found that there is some bad objects table filled with sets a flag for which i was not able to checkin document, so introduced a flag and made the badobject table clear and atlast was able to see the file in the transaction "cv02n"
1) Now when i try to open the document it says :Error while checking out:
C:\DOCUME1\9000031\LOCALS1\Temp\_WIPKISHORE09.pdf
2) I tested and experienced this FM doesnot see the physical availabilty of the file in the docpath specified , it just put the file.
I think before when i was not using that check box mark , it said error in checking the Document , now since in set the paramater and force the checkin to happen this happened.
can any one give any advices and views.
present i see the document name but when clicked it throws above error
