  • DMS Kpro query

    Hi Experts,
    Please let me know what is Kpro and what are its function.
    I am having confusion between Kpro and content server.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Ritesh
    I read about KPro, in some source ( I don't remember it now).
    Here i'm putting the summary that I had scribbled on my notepad, some time back.
    SAP Knowledge Provider (KPro) is the central service, for administrating and storing any kind of documents. Application-independence is a central characteristic of KPro.
    The KPro consists of three parts: DMS (Document Management Service), CMS (Content Management Service), IMS (Index Management Service).
    DMS is the KPro service that is the closest to the application level. DMS will provide an API, that allows the application to efficiently administrate documents without having to concern itself with the specific details of the physical repository.
    The CMS layer handles the technical details of the repository and administration functions. These details include creating document versions, document retrieval, and administrating the server containing the repositories.
    I hope it's helpful to you.

  • How to configure DMS to create the document of WBS and Netwrok.

    1、Microsoft office 2007: how to assign to  WBS?
    2、the other document type like rar. how to assign to WBS?
    Please explain me all the steps to be required.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Use following basic steps to configure the DMS for WBS & Network Actvities.
    1) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management System -
        > Control Data -> Define Number Ranges for Document Numbers.
        Here you can use Internal or External Number Range for saving the documents.
    2) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management System -
        > Control Data -> Define Document Types
        Here you have to add various Document Types (must be 3 char)  as per your requirement
        For Example.:
        COM     Comparitive Statemnt
        MMB     Measurement Book
        MPR     Monthly Work Proggs
    3) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management
        System -> Control Data -> Define Document Types -> Define Document Status. ( Not Mandatory )
        Document status is used to show the current status of yr document.
        For Example:
        IW - In Work
        RE - Released
        CR - Change Request
        AR - Archieved
    4) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management
        System -> Control Data -> Define Document Types -> Define Object links.
        If you want to attach the documents to WBS Element & Network Actvity add following Objects by     using above menu path
    PRPS  - WBS Element
    VORGNET - Network
    If you are going to store the DMS documents in same R/3 Server follow the below menu path, here you must take help of your BASIS Consultant
    5) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management
        System -> General Data -> Define Data Carrier.
    If you are going to store the DMS documents in Seperate DMS Server follow the below menu path, here you must take help of your BASIS Consultant
    6) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management
        System -> General Data -> Settings for Storage Systems > Maintain Storage System & Maintain Storage Category
    7) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management
        System -> General Data -> Define Work Station Application
    In addition of above go through below sap help link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46C/helpdata/EN/c1/1c31a243c711d1893e0000e8323c4f/frameset.htm

  • In which SAP table attchment link stores ?

    Dear All,
    I have connected SAP to one external DMS as a content server.
    It is working fine
    my scenario:
    say for example i create a finance document(business object BKPF) and attach the link of the document which is lying  there in my DMS and its link is there in SAP table TOA01
    query : once i attach a document to this finance document , where this link of attachment gets stored?
    ---sandeep

    dear deepak
    thnx for reply
    As rightly pointed by you, links get stored in the SAP link tables as per the configuration vix TOA01, TOA02,TOA03,TOAHR.
    these table contains the link of the document which are lying there in DMS
    my query is once i want to attach any of this link (for ex : i created a finace document in tcode FB03 (BO : BKPF) and then i attached a link of these documents lying in DMS   ... using option create attachment)
    now my query is where  is this link of attachment gets stored
    regards

  • DMS  attachments storage in IXOS

    Hi all,
    WE have a requirement where SRM attachment functionality  needs to be enabled for classic and more over if the user creates an attachment in R/3 manually then it needs to stored in IXOs rather than SAP.
    For the first part is already done but  moving DMS documents to IXOS content repository can any  body has an idea about configuration settings  required for this.
    Your response is most useful.
    Regards
    Geetha

    Dear Poster,
    As no response has been provided to the thread in some time I must assume the issue is resolved, if the question is still valid please create a new thread rephrasing the query and providing as much data as possible to promote response from the community.

  • DMS and IXOS

    Hello,
    Do you know if it is possible to use IXOS repository with DMS?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ricardo Inácio

    Dear all,
    I am having the following requirements:
    We are creating Shopping Cart in SRM with attachments and these attachments are saving in the IXOS database. All these (same attachments) are relpicating to R/3 whenever system generates PR or PO automatically. These attachments are copying to R/3 with URL, which is picking from IXOS, i.e. physically attachments are not saving R/3 DMS server, but saving in IXOS DB only. It is to avoid duplicate saving in both Data bases.
    If user making any changes in the attachments or adding attachments in R/3, these new ones are at present saving in R/3 (DMS) data base, but not in the IXOS data base. Now our client requirement is that all the attachments, whether attached in SRM or R/3, all the attachments must be saved in IXOS database.
    To meet this requirement, what are the settings we have to do? Please reply if anybody is having idea on this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Veerappa

  • SAP DMS server installation Query

    Guys,
    I would like to share my plans on DMS server installation under DEV,Quality,prod stage and requesting you all to validate and send me any comments if I am wrong anywhere.
    -        We have 1 external DMS server of (250Gb capacity)
    -     We are now in realization phase, As we know that we have 3 servers namly Development, quality and production server.
    -     In Development Server we do Baseline DMS customization
    -     In Quality server we do Integration testing
    -     There will be as external computer with harddisk capacity of 80 GB,I will Install Content server CD and make that 80GB hard disk as content server for storing the documents, create content repository and store the documents which are to be tested under both development and quality server stage(Note : we can use SAP database for both testing purpose but If we load huge data there,it will slowdown the server drastically)
    -     During the production server install the DMS server (250 gb) and define the content repository config under production server and start storing all the fresh document
    -     Note: Since the tested documents are stored in local PC we can avoid all the tested documents under quality stage only,once the DMS server is installaed in production server we can freshly load the documents.
    -     Note: I knew I have to install twice the Content server cd(once with 80 GB local hard disk and later with External DMS  server)
    This is how I planned, I request you to highlight the pain areas by this method else give me the confidence of how I planned?
    I appreciate for immediate solution; also how does Kpro comes into picture here.
    Points will be rewarded for sure.
    Regards,
    Murali.S
    DMS consultant

    Hi Murali,
    As per my understanding you want to keep a Temporary Content Server for your Dev & QA system but a full fledge 250GB Content server for Production.
    This is a Good method you are following, i.e. when you go for production you will not have any junk data, you will be loading only fresh data (originals) into it.
    There is nothing harm or pain in doing this, only thing is you have re-configure the Content Repository and Category in Production System (SAP).
    Your Basis person has to open Production System for doing this Settings (Defining Content Repository and Content Category with Port, HTTP, etc)
    Document Area to be ensured in each client at any point of time, Physical machine, IP address, Port etc.
    You can maintain a Excel sheet with a following Columns:
    <b>Client, Content Category, Content Repository, Document Area, Physical Machine, IP Address, Port.</b>
    For Transaction OACT & OAC0.
    Rest your method is fantastic.
    Best Regards
    Rehman

    Hi Ritesh
    Question 1) I am in a support project and will be solving tickets on DMS in near future.
    Can anyone please tell me what all errors or problem user can come across while retrieving a document.
    This is very generic question. It can't be answered, as user may face any kind of issue. If you have any specific question then post it. In that case, people can answer.
    Question 2) please let me know thw advantages of attaching a DIR to an Object.

  • DMS Query

    Hi All,
    1. How to load the Documents from existing DMS system to SAP DMS?.. is there any standard program available?
    2. Can a URL / link of existing DMS system be able to provide in the SAP DMS with reference to DIR?
    Appreciate if anyone can provide detail input.
    Thanks
    Guruprasad..

    Hi,
    Q1: I've seen some discussion in this forum that LSMW can be used for this, although I have not used it myself. It also depends on what you want to do. If you simply want to load only the documents, this can be done by doing a mass upload from EasyDMS. However, if you want to populate information such as classifications and object links LSMW may be an option. You will need to create some sort of mapping between the data in your existing DMS to the fields in SAP DMS, regardless of what tool you use.
    Q2: Not quite sure I understand your question. You can attach a URL link under object services (system > services for object, then click create and select URL).
    Cheers,
    Lashan

    Q3: How can i install SetUp.apk in android emulator.
    Thanks for your help in advance.
    Ajoy

    For Q1, since your mobile server in on machine A, so the correct URL should be http://<machineA url>:<porton machineA>
    The username should be the name of user that you have created. Here is the doc on how to create users:Managing Users and Groups
    For Q2, Did you deploy your publication using packaging wizard? Here is the doc on how to deploy publications: Using the Packaging Wizard
    After you deploy it, you can find your application in mobile manager. Here is the doc on how to retrieve existing applications: Managing Your Mobile Applications
    For Q3, if you want to use sync functionality on Android emulator, you should download setup.apk to your emulator, not to machine B. Here is the doc on how to install mobile client on Android: Section 2.3.2 of Installing the Mobile Client

    Can anyone please tell me how to get unique/distinct applications using query in dataset.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I have added the below query in the EBS dataset to retrieve only unique applications as APPLICATION_NAME column has some duplicate data. I imported data to DB.
    select distinct(APPLICATION_NAME) as NAME from APPLICATIONIs there any table in OIM schema which you have named APPLICATION? AFAIK, applications from EBS are imported into Lookups in OIM and you will have to query lookup to get the Application name in OIM.
    But, when I try to filter on application I get below error
    Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00936: missing expression
    Error Code: 936
    Call: select distinct(APPLICATION_NAME) as NAME from APPLICATION WHERE UPPER ( DISTINCT(APPLICATION_NAME) ) like UPPER('%%') The UPPER ( DISTINCT(APPLICATION_NAME) ) like UPPER('%%') clause here is wrong. What are you trying to achieve through this query?

  • Error while querying ADF form by saved criteria - MDS activated project

    Hi,
    I have a project with MDS activated through database. I'm able to save the customized query criteria and retrieve in the session the criteria is created. But if I log off the session and open another session, I only see the saved criteria name in the pick list. If I select the saved criteria, it throws 'NullPointerException'. I'm using 11.1.2.1.0 version. Here is the complete stack trace:

    Hi,
    +"But if I log off the session and open another session, I only see the saved criteria name in the pick list. "+
    Does this also happen when the browser is closed and re-opened? If not then what is special on your log-off / log-on method. You should consider filing a service request with customer support if this problem remains

  • Loadjava dms.jar and soap.jar on Oracle 9i 9.2.0.5.0 error ORA-29534

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to load dbws-callout-utility in a oracle9i Enterprise Edition Realease 9.2.0.5.0 data base.
    To do that, I've follow these instructions "http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/jsp/callout_users_guide.htm" step by step:
    - I've set shared_pool_size to 96M (then, even to 150M) in my spfile.
    - I've set java_pool_size to 80M in my spfile.
    - I've tested this changes were well done.
    - Then, I've download oc4j_extended 10.1.2 version, as said the link.
    - manual says that I must load this jar files:
    jssl-1_2.jar, soap.jar, dms.jar, servlet.jar, ejb.jar, mail.jar
    - I've could to load these jars without any error using these commands:
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/lib
    dropjava -u wsuser/pass mail.jar
    dropjava -u wsuser/pass activation.jar
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/oc4j_extended/j2ee/home/lib
    loadjava -resolve -verbose -synonym -grant PUBLIC -user wsuser/pass ejb.jar
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/lib
    loadjava -resolve -verbose -synonym -grant PUBLIC -user wsuser/pass activation.jar
    loadjava -resolve -verbose -synonym -grant PUBLIC -user wsuser/pass mail.jar
    cd ${ORACLE_HOME}/oc4j_extended/j2ee/home/lib
    loadjava -resolve -verbose -synonym -grant PUBLIC -user wsuser/pass servlet.jar
    cd ${ORACLE_HOME}/jlib
    loadjava -resolve -verbose -synonym -grant PUBLIC -user wsuser/pass jssl-1_2.jar
    but when I try to load dms.jar with this command:
    cd ${ORACLE_HOME}/oc4j_extended/lib
    loadjava -resolve -verbose -synonym -grant PUBLIC -user wsuser/pass dms.jar
    loadjava's process hangs just compiling (resolving) this class: "oracle/dms/address/Optic", so I've got to kill process.
    Then, I try to load dms.jar with the same command but without "-resolve" option. This way, I've been able to load all class from
    this jar including the named before "oracle/dms/address/Optic". Then I compile all java class by hand except "oracle/dms/address/Optic"
    because everytime I try to compile (-resolve) this class, it hangs. So this is my first question: why?.
    As I've could to load almost all java class, I said, I'm going to try to load last jar: soap.jar
    cd ${ORACLE_HOME}/oc4j_extended/soap/lib
    loadjava -resolve -verbose -synonym -grant PUBLIC -user wsuser/pass soap.jar
    but when this command finish, it shows me these errors:
    errors : class org/apache/soap/messaging/Message
    ORA-29534: el objeto WSUSER.oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection al que se hace referencia no se ha podido resolver
    synonym : org/apache/soap/messaging/Message
    The following operations failed
    class oracle/soap/client/ProviderManagerClient: resolution
    class oracle/soap/client/ServiceManagerClient: resolution
    class oracle/soap/server/http/SOAPServlet: resolution
    class oracle/soap/providers/JavaProvider: resolution
    class oracle/soap/providers/ejbprov/EntityEJBProvider: resolution
    class oracle/soap/providers/ejbprov/StatefulEJBProvider: resolution
    class oracle/soap/providers/ejbprov/StatelessEJBProvider: resolution
    class oracle/soap/providers/sp/SpProvider: resolution
    class oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection$1: resolution
    class oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection: resolution
    class org/apache/soap/rpc/Call: resolution
    class org/apache/soap/rpc/RPCMessage: resolution
    class org/apache/soap/rpc/Response: resolution
    class org/apache/soap/messaging/Message: resolution
    exiting : Failures occurred during processing
    but this has no sense, because this class oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection do exists in the jar file and it can be loaded.
    so I don't understand..... I try to load class by class to see dependencies or whatever using this command:
    I choose this class to begin:
    loadjava -resolve -verbose -synonym -grant PUBLIC -user wsuser/pass org/apache/soap/rpc/Call.class
    it shows me:
    creating : class org/apache/soap/rpc/Call
    loading : class org/apache/soap/rpc/Call
    granting : execute on class org/apache/soap/rpc/Call to PUBLIC
    resolving: class org/apache/soap/rpc/Call
    errors : class org/apache/soap/rpc/Call
    ORA-29534: el objeto WSARR.oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection al que se hace referencia no se ha podido resolver
    synonym : org/apache/soap/rpc/Call
    The following operations failed
    class org/apache/soap/rpc/Call: resolution
    exiting : Failures occurred during processing
    so I try to load the class which it had could not find:
    loadjava -resolve -verbose -synonym -grant PUBLIC -user wsarr/wsarr oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection.class
    it shows me:
    creating : class oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection
    loading : class oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection
    granting : execute on class oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection to PUBLIC
    resolving: class oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection
    errors : class oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection
    ORA-29545: clase especificada incorrectamente: at offset 445 of oracle.soap.transport.http.OracleSOAPHTTPConnection.getHTTPConnection expecting a class-oracle.security.ssl.OracleSSLCredential but encountered a class-oracle.security.ssl.OracleSSLCredential.
    synonym : oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection
    The following operations failed
    class oracle/soap/transport/http/OracleSOAPHTTPConnection: resolution
    exiting : Failures occurred during processing
    o_o ...... but this could be endless!!!!!
    Is there someone in this planet who had could to load this jars files without errors?????? :´(
    Please, I need help!!!! it's urgent!
    Thanks in advance!
    María

    The error messages you are getting means that the JAR you loaded into the database is invalid.
    ORA-29534:     referenced object string.string could not be resolved
    Cause:     Name resolution determined that the indicated object is referenced but could not be resolved.
    Action:     Correct name resolver or address resolution problems in the referenced class, or correct compilation problems in its source.
    Oracle extracts all classes from the jar file by the time you load the jar file and processes each class individually. I suggest you to run this query against the user_objects or dba_objects view to determine the status of your classes
    select DBMS_JAVA.LONGNAME(OBJECT_NAME) as OBJECT_NAME
    ,STATUS
    from USER_OBJECTS
    where OBJECT_TYPE like 'JAVA%'
    On the other hand, I see you are at 9.2.0.5.0, in order for you to avoid hitting known bugs, I suggest you to apply, if possible, the latest 9.2.0.8.0 + July CPU patch
