DMS KM Repository: direct access to Content Server?

Hello,
our SAP System is running in another network (outsourcing, connected via WAN) then the Content Server (LAN). Portal and TREX are located in the same network as the Content Server.
During indexing for the CM repository the content are requested via rfc - so the KPRO read the document from our network to the R/3 system and sends it back to the portal:
our network     -
>      WAN      -
>      Outsourcing Partner        -
>      WAN -
>            our network
Content Srv     -
>      R/3                                -
>        Portal/TREX
As you might suggest - very poor performance...
Normally the DMS is build to support direct content retrieval via URL. So my question is: is it possible to activate this feature for the KM Connector?
Thank you,
Frank

Hello Karsten,
> as far as I know, the content server itself only

Yes, but the KPRO (where most of these settings are stored) supports a URL based content retrieval. This is also the default behavior of the DMS/DVS. For Example TREX, gets the list of attributes and a URL for the content pointing to the Content Server. This also works for WebDocuments (Web Access to DMS from R/3, based on BSP). But it seems the KM Repository sends a full content request via RFC...
Thank you,
Frank

  • WebDAV Access: SAP Content Server

    Hello everyone,
I would like to use SAP Content Server to store the courses created in LSO Authoring Environment. (Client wants it this way...i have no clue why). Now in order to use SAP Content Server here, the content server must support WebDAV access. So does the content server support WebDAV, if yes -- how to enable it and how to browse it.
    Thanks,
    GLM

If the documents are stored in DMS with Content Server as the repository, you should be able to access them using the DMS connector to KM.  This is a business package which, when installed, exposes document stored in DMS to KM as a KM repository.  Then you can browse it like any other KM repository.  There are a lot of posts in this forum and others about the DMS connector.
You can also try to enable WebDAV if you Content Server is using a MaxDB database.

  • Direct Access on Windows Server 2012 R2 and IPV6

I have a question about IPV6 and Direct Access in Server 2012 R2. Without using UAG is it still mandatory to have IPV6 enabled in the intranet?
Kristopher Turner | Not the brightest bulb but by far not the dimmest bulb.

    Hi,
DirectAccess uses IPv6 with IPsec to create a secure connection between DirectAccess client computers and the internal corporate network.
However, DirectAccess does not necessarily require connectivity to the IPv6 Internet or native IPv6 support on internal networks. Instead, it automatically configures and uses IPv6 transition technologies to tunnel IPv6 traffic across the IPv4 Internet (6to4,
Teredo, IP-HTTPS) and across your IPv4-only intranet (NAT64 or ISATAP).

  • ECM11g: How to enforce HTTPS access for Content server console

    Hi,
We have a requirement of accessing Content Server console (https://<hostname>:<port>/cs) with https protocol only. If a user sends a http request (http://<hostname>:<port>/cs) it should get converted to https.
The managed server is running with non SSL port. The request is comming from Apache where we have used the parameter "WLProxySSL" to enforce the https, however its not getting enforced for Content Server URL.

  • Customizing prebuilt taskflows for accessing webcenter content server

    Reposting from webcenter content group...
    Hi,
We are building an application to manipulate content server objects and are thinking of two option: one is to use RIDC and build our own presentation tier. another is to use existing components such as Document Manager and customize them to suite our needs.
So far we have not been able to find enough documentation on how to customize these out of the box components. To give an example, When a document is uploaded, we requiire to populate metadata such as author name, security group the document belongs to and so on. Another example is when a document is created we want to attach a workflow to that document.
Are there any recommendations? If customizing existing taskflows is a better option, can you provide us links to the resources?
We have tried Oracle documentation and some of the blogs, and everytime we run in some exception or the other. I will refrain from posting those exceptions here as our developers have raised those questions in other threads.
    Thanks and Regards
    Shridhar

    Hi Yannik,
Thanks for your reply. we want user to input values for the metadata fields. We tried to add input fields in Upload.jsff but ran into some exceptions. One of my colleague has posted following threads on this forum.
Re: Document Manager Task Flow Customization
    Document Manager Task Flow Customization
Can you please point out to the resources/documents that explains how to add forms in existing taskflows? It is possible that we are looking at wrong places for the information.
Another issue we face is when we start Jdeveloper as a customization role, JDeveloper either becomes unresponsive or or freezes when we open an XML file or JSFF file from within Webcenter Docuement Services View library. This hampers our further progress as well.
    Thanks again for your reply,
    Shridhar

  • Direct Access and Proxy server...

I've followed the step-by-step instructions for demonstrating UAG DA in a test lab. It all works fine.
Now I've configured TMG on the UAG server to act as a web access proxy and created a group policy to apply the proxy settings. It seems that the DA Client applies this policy and tries to use the proxy server for internet access when outside of the Intranet. How do I configure group policy to force the client to use the web proxy when connected to the Intranet, but not when outside the Intranet and connected using DA?
    Thanks all,
    Neil

    Hi Neil,
I don't think you'll be able to bounce back through the UAG server that the DA client is connected to, since the TMG configuration required isn't with support boundaries.
However, you can configure the DA clients to use another TMG firewall on your network to connect to the Internet through the Web proxy. You will need to take advantage of the DNS64/NAT64 on the UAG server to connect to the FQDN of the outbound web proxy listener on the TMG firewall. That will translate the IPv6 request to a IPv4 request, and since the TMG firewall's web proxy will perform name resolution on behalf of the client, then client doesn't need to worry about that.
That's how it's supposed to work. I'll try to stand this up in the lab and see what it works in practice.
    Thanks!

  • Archiving DMS documents (DIR) into the content server

    Hi Gurus
Please tell me the basic configuration for archiving the DMS documents. it is asking me to maintain the following table entries (TOAOM, TOAAR, TOACO and TOADV).
the requirement is to archive the DIR in to content repository and the procedure how to retrive it
    Jai

    Dear Jai,
to set up a Content Server please remember the following steps:
    1) Content Server sizing with the hardware specification - Functional Consultant.
Content server sizing has to be done by functional consultant based on clients requirement related to different application files and their sizes for approx 1 year and based on this it has to be estimated to next 5 years if requried.
    2) Preparing the Server - Basis
the content server sizing done based on inputs has to be given to basis for checking the hardware specification, server size and also the platform on which content server will be installed (Unix,Windows etc).
    3) Creating Content Repositories - Functional Consultant with information of the server details from the Basis guy.
once content server is installed, it has to be configured by creating content repositories and categories by functional consultant with the help of Basis.
    4) Creating Storage Category: Functional Consultant.
must be done by functional consultant with the help of Basis.
    5) Configuring KPRO - Functional Consultant.
once content server is up, KPRO functionality also will start working but to direct files to content server instead of Sap Database, configuration in backend has to be done by Functional Consultant.
    Best regards,

  • SAP DMS and Content server installation.

    Hi,
I am new in DMS. i have done configuration of DMS . now i want to store document on Content server.
so how to install content server on windows server 2003.
How to connect DMS and content sever?
    How to access document ?
    please help.
    Thanks,
    Dipak.

    Hi Ricardo,
    1. By using T-code DC10-Document type creation:- you will create Document type first.
    a. create document type
    b. define status if you need.
    c. Object Linking- if you want document attach to SAP object then you need to configure by using same T-codeDC10.
and please go through below link:
    http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/print46c/en/data/pdf/CADMS/CADMS.pdf
    2. You want to Store document into SAP database/file system/SAP Content Server.
    a. you need to decide first where you will store document.
suppose you select store into SAP Content Server then you need to select KPRO check-box in DC10. then you need to create Content repository by using OAC0 tcode an create storage Category in OACT transaction.
    b. suppose you want to store into File system then you need to configure Data Carrier in DC20 T-Code.
    c. if you want to store SAP Database then also you need to Content repository  same like SAP content Server in OAC0 tcode and select storage type as SAP DATABASE.
    and then create storage category.
if you have any query please let me know
    Thanks,
    Dipak.

  • Using DMS Content server for Archiving HR documents

    Hi SAP Gurus,
with the details gathered from the forum we could suggest the client to go for Archiving there Documents for storing there HR related Documents, like Resumes, salary hike litters, leaves etc....
but as we do have DMS here and intending to get a Content server for DMS, can we use the same content server for archiving the HR documents also,
or the other way round if we go a Big archiving server, can we store DMS documents there using it as Content Server,
    Thanks and Regards,
    Priya S

Yes, you can use the content server. Just create an ArchiveLink Repository on the server and you can use it for HR.

  • Very large files checkin to DMS/content server

    Dear experts,
We have DMS with content server up and running.
However, there is a problem with very large files (up to 2GB!) - these files cannot be checked in due to extremely long upload times and maybe GUI limitations.
Does anyone have suggestions how we could get very large files into the content server ? I only want to check them in (either via DMS or directly to the content server) and then get the URL back.
    best regards,
    Johannes

    Hi Johannes,
unfortunatly there is a limit for files regarding the Content Server which is about 2GB. Please note that such large files will cause very long upload times. If possible I would recommend you to split the files to smaller parts and try to check it in.
From my point of view it is not recommended to put files directly on the Content Server, because this could lead to inconsistencies on the Content Server.
    Best regards,
    Christoph

  • CM Repository using content server.

    Hi Experts,
I am currently setting up KM in SAP EP 7.0. I have installed both Trex 7.1 and Content Server 6.40. Would like to check with you guys on how to create a CM repository that points to content server 6.40? Thanks.

I have recently done a POC on the contributions, if you can setup the Default Data Element and region Definition you will be able to use the Magic key ctrl + shift + 'C' to switch Webcenter Spaces PS3 to contribution mode.
This way you can present the Site Studio content as well as Contribute to the same content list. As you can define the Data Element/Region Definition such that, each site studio list can have it's own defined Contribution Metadata list.
    Pre-requisite -
In Webcenter Spaces/ Spaces page, Make sure that you have at least one Content Presenter with a content and Region Template from Site Studio.
The limitation I have felt is, the Content Presenter is not able to Query against any Metadata field. The only way to query is using keywords and file names and after doing that, there is no way you can contribute to the same Webcenter list, i.e there is no metadata specific contribution other than using the profiler as mentioned in this blog.
Question is, is there a way to provide a contribution option from Webcenter Spaces against the list of presented contents using Webcenter Content Presenter (NOT the content from Site Studio), so that we can directly contribute to UCM with specific Metadata. Other than the custom option of using custom taskflow exposing RIDC service ?
    Thanks,
    Arun

    Note Number : 361123
    Symptom
You want the SAP Content server to work properly.
    Other terms
    Signed URLs, AdminSecurity, SsfVerify failed
    Reason and Prerequisites
The SAP Content Server was installed in accordance with the installation guide. For new installations, we recommend that you use the latest released version of the SAP Content Server, regardless of the SAP System release to which the SAP Content Server is connected.
    Solution
This note provides additional information on different aspects of security when using the SAP Content Server.
    Security against data loss
    •     The SAP server content stores the contents of the confidential document either in an SAP-DB instance or in the file system. To avoid data loss, the usual measures for databases and file systems are taken. These are only mentioned briefly here: Redundant hardware (mirror disks, raid systems and so on), regular backup (log files, backup). When you back-up the Content Server, note that you also have to save the ContentServer.ini configuration file as well as the Security directory in addition to backing up the database instance or the directories of the file system used for document content.
    •     Note 319332 describes backup strategies for a Content Server with database folders.
    •     SAP does not have a tool for backing up file system folders. In this case it is the responsibility of the customer to select and convert the backup strategy. Here you should note that, for a complete and consistent backup of a file system folder, it may be necessary to shut down the Content Server for the duration of the backup.
Security against unauthorized accesses on filed contents
    •     Before you access the content server, an authorization check usually occurs in the SAP system. However, the content server is usually accessed using a disclosed HTTP log. To make sure that only authorized accesses are possible, 'signed URLs' must be used. Signed URLs are URLs that were signed by the SAP system. You can recognize signed URLs because they are considerably longer than unsigned URLs and contain additional parameters. The signed URL, in particular, contains the additional parameters expiration (expiry time) and secKey (digital signature). A signed URL is only valid if the expiry time has not yet been exceeded and if it contains a valid signature. In order that the signature can be checked by the content server, the public key (certificate) of the SAP system must be stored on the content server and tagged for the corresponding repository. Transactions OAHT, OAC0 (as of 4.6C) and CSADMIN (as of 4.6C for SAP content server) are used to transfer the certificate. The certificate must be activated on the content server for the repository. Use CSADMIN to do this (for SAP Content server).
    •     In order that the digital signature of the SAP system can be used properly, EVERY SAP system must have its own unique certificate. To ensure this, a 'PSE' must be generated once in every SAP system after this SAP system is developed. Use transaction PSEMAINT to do this (note 354819).
    •     To protect the connection between the Content Server and its SAP-DB instance, the name and password of the database user can be changed and stored in encrypted format in the configuration of the content server. For details, see note 661852.
    Access control for the administration
    •     The content server is partly administered from within the SAP system, and partly from outside it. When it is administered from outside, you must ensure that only authorized persons have (administrative) access to the server on which the content server is running. The (administrative) access to the database (note 212394) must be restricted accordingly.
    •     In order that administrative accesses from the SAP system are only possible for authorized persons, the parameter AdminSecurity must be set to 1 in the content server. You will find details on this in the installation documentation of the SAP Content Server.
    Protection against server hardware outage
    •     The Windows version of the SAP Content Server can also be installed in an MSCS environment (Microsoft Cluster Server). For more detailed information, see "SAP Content Server 6.20 in an MSCS Environment", dated March 4, 2003, in the "News" section on the SAP Service Marketplace (http://service.sap.com/ha
    •     The duration of the non-availability of content servers, cache servers and alias servers can be reduced with the automated operator intervention described in note 484459.
