DMS Migration Advice

Hi Everyone,
This is the scenario:
I have one SAP Instance, with DIR's being stored into 15 different Content Servers.
I have written a program to download all document data to a spreadsheet, including the storage categories, etc et al.
I have written a program to recreate these records in a new SAP System.
The Old Content Server instances will remain as is. Do I need to download the originals to a file server and upload them again against the DIR's. or is there a way that I can leave the originals on the content servers and somehow create the pointers in the new system?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Freddie,
if I understood you right then the originals remain on the content server and you just want them to be available in a new system?
In this case you have to made sure that the required content repositories and storage categories exist in the new system. Then also the necessary DMS database tables (e.g. DMS_PH_CD1, DMS_PHF_CD1, DMS_DOC2LOIO, DMS_PHIO2FILE) need to be
filled with the values from the former system.
From DMS point of view I would recommend you to setup a new content server for the new system. Then you can transport the orignal file data from the former server to the new one with report RSCMSEX and RSCMSIM (see SAP note 445057) and there might be no overwriting problems in the future. Because SAP always recommends to use one Content Server per system.
Otherwise I would recommend you to download the files on a special server and upload them again to the DIRs in the new system.
Best regards,
Christoph

    Hi,
    1) Does oracle support this kind of migration?Yes.
    2) Is this achievable, without involving any functional consultants? You do not need any functional consultants for this migration.

  • Migration advice

My little Mac Mini died, so I have ordered a new iMac. But I'm not sure of the best migration strategy. The old Mini was running Leopard, so I have both Time Machine and Backup3 backups on external hard drives as well as .mac syncing. I also have a Macbook with a lighter but similar setup. Should I use Time Machine, or Backup 3 to rebuild my data and applications? Or Migration Assistant? I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has been through this experience.

If the Mini is an Intel model then you should be able to migrate directly to the iMac. However, if it's a PPC Mini, then I recommend against using Migration Assistant and move only your personal data manually:
Folders You Can Move to Your new Mac
From the Home folder copy the contents of Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites.
    In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
    /Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder)
    /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist (* This is a very important file which contains all email account settings and general mail preferences.)
/Home/Library/Preferences/ copy any preferences needed for third-party applications
/Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
    If you want cookies:
    /Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist
    /Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data
    Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
    For FireFox:
    /Home/Library/Applications Support/FireFox
    /Home/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.firefox.plist
Credit goes to another forum user for this information.
If you have PPC-only third-party applications on the Mini then either upgrade them to universal binary versions or reinstall them on the iMac from scratch. All other third-party applications should be reinstalled. Do not use any third-party PPC-only plug-ins such as contextual menu items, login items, startup items, preference panes, input managers, internet plug-ins, and the like because they will not work on an Intel Mac.

  • DMS Migration of Documents - Loadercli tool

    Hi Dear,
we did a migration of our DMS. Our DMS was installed in São Paulo and we moved to Houston with the same hardware and software configuration.
We export the database and import successfully on the server that is located in Houston. But when we access the documents on the DMS, we received the message that the file was not created.
This error is due to the file does not exist in the database located in Houston.
I would like to know how to migrate files that are on the server from Sao Paulo to the new server located in Houston.
Can I use the loadercli tool to migrate these files?
What is the step by step to migrate these files?
    Regards,
    Sérgio Salomã

    Hi Deepak Kori,
we do not have the content server located in São Paulo because the server does not exist anymore due to our client changed the supplier.
We only have the option to use loadercli tool and I need an example to migrate documents using loadercli.
I found SAP Note 0000962019. I guess this note is a good way to execute this migration.
    Could you help me?

  • Generic Groupwise to Exchange Migration Advice

Good afternoon folks, I am after some general advice/guideance on a migration project that I am about to start working on.
We're taking a Novell eDirector/Groupwise environment to Microsoft AD/Exchange...I know there's tools/utils that will do the migration but I am just after some general real world experiences/gotcha's etc.
The AD will be a nice new Win2008 R2 AD so first question is, what order should I approach this in..
    Build new AD
    Install Exchange
    Migrate User Accounts/Data
    Migrate Groupwise to Exchange
    or
    Build new AD
    Install Exchange
    Migrate Groupwise to Exchange
    Migrate User Accouts/Data
To me the first looks more logical but I'm looking for advice from the trenches so to speak....
Also, what utils/tools would you recommend for the migration and co-existence?

    Hello,
I think you can do migrate Groupwise to Exchange at last.
Here is one related document for you, hope can give you some help:

    2)Partially open PO

For scenario 1), Is this the appropriate method to migrate the PO?
->Upload the PO ordered qty with 10 and upoad the GR data for the 4 qty?
For scenario 2), which is the appropriate method to migrate the PO?
a)Upload the PO ordered qty with 10, upoad the GR data for the 4 qty, upload the invoice data for 6 qty
b)Upload the PO ordered qty with the open quantities(6 qty)
    Thanks.

    Hi
Normally PO upload is done only for pending to delivery, because stock is getting uploaded via 561.
Payments outstanding is dealt in FI posting directly for pending payments to do this vendor G/L account is updated for pending payments value.

  • DMS Migration (DIR, charateristics, classes)

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to migrate the Document Info Records, characteristics, classes, classification and the original documents from R/3 4.7 to ECC 6 Server, as well as move the original docs from the old KPRO server to the new KPRO Server.
So far i was able to find the IDOC type that i can use for characteristics, classes and classification as well as the reports to do a mass distribution.
My biggest problem is migrating the documents and to also ensure that, the links point to the new server. Your help would be really appreciated.
    Thank you in Advance,
    Danny

    Hi,
U can use the message class DOCMAS.
Also consider that you would need to transfer the following message types where applicable:
Classification data needs to be ALEu2019d to the new system, in the sequence set out below:
    1.     Characteristics and Characteristic Values
Most objects for variant configuration are dependent on characteristics. For this reason, characteristics must be transferred first.
u2022     Characteristics with value hierarchies, long texts for characteristic values, or linked documents may lead to problems during transfer.
    u2022     Message type: CHRMAS
    u2022     Availability: as of R/3 3.0
    2.     Classes
When you use ALE to distribute classes, the characteristic assignments are also transferred.
    u2022     Message type: CLSMAS
    u2022     Availability: as of R/3 3.0
    3.     Variant Table Structures
These are the variant tables that are created to support data maintenance.
    u2022     Message type: VTAMAS
    u2022     Availability: as of R/3 3.1
    4.     Variant Table Contents
Once the structures of the variant tables have been distributed, their contents can be transferred.
    u2022     Message type: VTMMAS
    u2022     Availability: as of R/3 3.1
    5.     User-Defined Functions (Variant Functions, VC Functions)
User-defined functions in variant configuration let you use function modules that you have written, to check and infer characteristic values.
The distribution of functions only transfers the framework (texts, characteristics, and so on). The function modules that belong to the functions must be transferred first, using the usual R/3 transport system.
    u2022     Message type: VFNMAS
    u2022     Availability: as of R/3 4.5
    6.     Object Dependencies (Except Constraints)
Dependencies (preconditions, selection conditions, procedures, and actions) usually refer to characteristics, characteristic values, variant tables, and variant functions. For this reason, dependencies must be distributed after this other master data. The dependencies transferred here are global dependencies. Local dependencies are transferred with the objects to which they are assigned. For example, if you created a selection condition as a local dependency for a BOM item, this dependency is transferred when you use ALE to distribute the BOM (bill of material).
    u2022     Message type: KNOMAS
    u2022     Availability: as of R/3 3.1
    7.     Constraints
Constraints can only be distributed as of R/3 4.5.
    u2022     Message type: KNOMAS
    u2022     Availability: as of R/3 4.5
    8.     Constraint Nets
Constraint nets can only be distributed as of R/3 4.5.
    u2022     Message type: DEPNET
    u2022     Availability: as of R/3 4.5
    9.     Assignment of Dependencies to Characteristics and Characteristic Values
u2022     The characteristics are transferred once more to do this. Start ALE distribution for characteristics again, and the system transfers the assignments.
See point 1: Characteristics and Characteristic Values
    Regards,
    Freddie.

  • Toplink 10g to 11g migration advice.

We have application that was completely developed JDeveloper 10.1.3/4 with Toplink, JSF, ADF, and Session Facade; extremely similar to the SRDemo.
I want to upgrade to JDeveloper 11g, and will probably just let JDeveloper to automatically migrate the 10g application to 11g.
Does anyone have any tips or lessons learned concerning Toplink and/or ADF when using the 11g migration process?
    Thank you.

I downloaded and installed the jdevstudio11111install.exe from the Jdeveloper download page.
While performing the migration, I received a Toplink exception (matches this thread: [TopLink exception when migrating from JDev 10.1.3.4 to 11g|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3593192&#3593192] ).
I assumed this was the bug you were referencing, was that incorrect? Did I inadvertently download the wrong version?
    Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.1.0
    Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.1.0_GENERIC_090615.0017.5407
Am I missing a patch? Can I move forward with the migration, or is this a show stopper?
    Thank you.

  • DMS: Migration of DIR's from one SAP database to another SAP database

    Hi Gurus
We have a content server with originals linked to DIR's in a SAP database.  We want to migrate the DIR's to another SAP system.  The question is can we link the originals to the new DIR's in the new system without having to download and upload the originals in the content server using the original Phios.
    Thanks in advance.
    regards
    barry

    HI,
You can change the content server connection to the new server but you can not b able to read the data which is already stored in the content server via old server. But you can store the new documents and you can retrieve the same. you have to download and upload the documents which are stored in the content server via old server.
    thanks,
    Chaitanya.

  • Migration Advice needed

    Hello
We are migrating from EP 6.0 SP2 to EP 7.0
The EP 6.0  is on Windows / MsSql and the target would be on Linux/oracle.
A proof of concept was attempted almost an year ago and there too many problems during the migration.
Here are the steps that were followed:
    1. upgrade EP 6.0 SP2 PL 5 to EP 6.0 SP2 PL 27 on Windows
    2. Export / Import into NW2004 SP09 on Windows 2003 / MSSQL 2000
    3. Upgrade to NW2004S ( EP 7.0 SPS12)
    4. System Copy to NW2004S ( EP 7.0 SPS12) on Linux / Oracle 10G (10.2.0.2)
Unfortunately not much documentation was maintained while the above was done and I am entrusted with repeating this for Production.
Considering that this was done almost a year back, is the new migration tool able to achieve the above in a better way with lesser downtime / problems?
It would really be wonderful if someone could share their experience with a similar migration.
    Thanks much in advance
    Hari

  • Migration advice to a new MB Pro

I just got a 15 inch refurbished 2.8GHz MB pro. I would like to use this as a traveling computer that I used to edit video with FCP6 and edit audio. I just want to migrate my email, ical, itunes and other small apps over. I have never used the assistant, but I don't want to move over some adobe DC2 suite programs I have installed etc. With MA, can I pick and choose what I want to take over from my G$ to my MB pro?

You can choose User Files and/or all Applications, but not specific apps. It sounds like what you want to do is move just User Files to start with, which will deal with your mail, calendar and iTunes music, and then reinstall just the apps you need. You may be able to drag small applications directly from one Applications folder to the other - it depends on the app.

  • New Server 2.0 to 2.2 migration advice

Hi, we are getting a new server and we are going to port our apps to the new box.
As part of this we were thinking of upgrading to 2.2
Our current platform is linux, 10G rel 1, and HTML_DB 2.0
I'm just looking for advice on the vertion of 10g , 1, 2 or 3 to use

    Thank you Mark ,
This is a very quick and complete answer and I was lucky enough to be able to download the needed software.
Unfortunately, when I tried to upgrade Phtoshop Album Starter Edition 2.0 to 3.2, it says that the tags will be kept ( saved ), but when opening 3.2, all pictures are there, but no tag at all ....
Is there anything else ( or more ) I could try to recover those tags ?

I did what you're asking about using the same hardware and found that it booted just fine. However, I immediately ran a Lion upgrade and that Lion boot disk has run like a champ ever since. Since I was careful not to let software update do over my printer drivers, I also managed to keep some Epson legacy drivers that made the printer that worked on the 1,1 still usable. And that method also retained most of my software registrations so I didn't have to deal with the vendors.
However, if you want to keep Snow Leopard, I'd suggest after booting, immediately running the 10.6.8 combo updater, which might make the 1,1 System software more compatible with the 5,1 machine. That assumes that your new Mac is old enough to have been delivered with Snow Leopard on it, since there's some question if the Mac Pro's with Lion have been "fixed" to not accept a Snow Leopard install.

  • Migrating from old G4 15-inch Flat Panel to new iMac 24-inch 2.16GHz

Just purchased a refurbed 24" iMac with 2.16GHz core duo from Apple. Currently work on 15-inch flat panel 800MHz PowerPC G4 iMac using 10.2.8. Main applications are Photoshop v.7.0.1, Final Draft 6, and Office v.10.1.8. All important data is archived on three external OWC Mercury firewire drives. What is the most efficient, least problematic way to migrate? Or am I better off avoiding migration, installing latest Intel-friendly Photoshop, Office, and Final Draft software, and dragging select image files, and documents from external drives to new desktop? Also, how can I easily transfer my old iTunes/iPhoto/iMovie libraries over to new iMac from external drives without doing a migration? Thanks!

    Hi,
I have worked with OWB 9.2 but not with Oracle Workflow. Now I have to migrate a Data warehouse to another server. The Data warehouse has OWB 9.0.4.10 and Oracle Workflow. I have to use the same OWB and OWF version but the Operating System will be Windows 2003 instead of Windows 2000 and the Oracle version will be Oracle 10G instead of Oracle 9.2.0.6.
    I haven’t developed this project!!!!!!
I don’t know what Oracle Workflow version I have installed. Where can I see the Oracle Workflow version? Where do I obtain the Oracle Workflow software????
Where do I obtain Oracle Workflow information????
The OWB 9.0.4.10 and OWF is compatible with Windows 2003 and Oracle 10g????
I have done an OWB 9.2 migration but not an OWB 9.0.4.10 + Oracle Workflow migration.
How can I have to migrate the OWF processes?
Could you give me some OWB + OWF migration advices?
