DMS Original File Display issue

Hello All,
This is regarding Original File dispaly issue in DMS. User is using CV04N transaction to download the file. After going in the DMS screen user is selecting the file, Right Click & select the option "Copy to". Then user select the option to save the file on Desktop. If required user change the description of the file & save it on Desktop.
But when he tries to open that file from the desktop, file is not diaplayed & does not give any error. In some cases file is taking more than 10 mins to open the file.
This issue is faced by only two users whereas on my laptop file is displayed properly without any issue.
What could be the reason behind this? Waiting for your valuable reply.

Hi,
As it happens after saving the file it si probably the local system issue.Please check if the application is not corrupt or you are using the latest version of the same.

But we are at already higher version so no need to apply these OSS notes.

Thanks a lots for providing information,
But, I have already configured
- DC20-->for PC or front end maintain the path for ex c:\TMP\
- I can access tmp path on local machine and create files in the folder
- I have logged in to system with Admin rights
- PC has also default entry exits.
We have stored the document in the OpenText Archive server.
Appreciate if you can provide if anything is missing.

PS saving blank PNG files, display issues

For the past few days, randomly, photoshop is saving PNGs as blank transparent files. A 640 x 1136px file is 60-70kb.
There are also some display issues that look like GPU issues but only happening with PS, no other programs.

Original file reversion issue

Hi, I notice on certain images (but not others), that the "revert to original" stays solid for a given file even after I've clicked on it, and that the program keeps allowing me to revert the same file -- which is counter intuitive. Surely once you've reverted, the option to revert should be grayed out? So, also, I'm not sure wether some of these files ARE the original or not -- is it reverting or not? Is this a common problem?

Would these photos have been taken with a camera that has an auto-rotate feature? If so what's happening is that iPhoto is reading the auto-rotate flag on the pic as a modification, and so creating a modified copy. If you 'Revert to Original' on one of these pics, iPhoto reads the Original file and off we go again... It's a facility that iPhoto doesn't handle particularly gracefully.
Work-Arounds? Turn of the auto-rotate feature on the camera, and rotate the pics in iPhoto
or
Rotate the pics in another app before importing them into iPhoto.
However, if these pics aren't created by the auto-rotate issue, then can you give any more details on the pics.

DMS:Original file path overriding configuration ?

Hi,
Running 4.6c. We use vault method for originals. We have configured data carrier type "Server,frontend" -> PC and are maintaining a path as c:\ for the temporary files. We also have configured 'frontend computers' by putting in the entry as 'Default' data carrier.
Example: Using CV01N, one person Bob, creates a DIR - 100, checks in the original into the vault and saves the DIR. When another person Frank, using CV02N opens DIR - 100, tries to change the original, there is a pop-up with two fields: 1. Data Carrier (blank with a drop down option) and 2. Original: displays the full path of the first person's PC as C:\Document and Settings\Bob\SapWorkDir\<temp. file name>.
Issue-we get a 'ftp:subcommand local error' for Frank when trying to access the original. We also observed that sometime, it would actually create the path C:\Document and Settings\Bob\SapWorkDir\<temp. file name> for Frank on Frank's PC!!
Is the original overriding the configuration? Should it not create the temporary file in C:\ as we have configured in DC20?
Any help would be appreciated.

Appreciate your helpful input for my query. I tried setting up the profile and have a couple of questions:
1. Define profiles -> Determine definitions for applications. Is the 'Work Directory' the field to configure the path e.g C:\?
2. Since we have the vault configured, I assume that I use the vault value in the Define profiles -> Determine definitions for applications -> Storage Category
3. Define profile -> Determine definitions for applications -> Default values, does anything need to be checked. There are three attributes Display, Print and Display in WWW.
Would appreciate if you can clarify the above.

DMS - Original file drawing

When creating DIR in DMS i am attaching a Autocad drawing file. Some of the users who are viewer of this DIR have Autocad installed on their desktop while others do not have Autocad installed on their desktop. For users/viewers who have autocad installed they should be able to open the original/attached file in the native application i.e. autocad whereas for others the original/attached file should be opened through SAP viewer.
In define workstation application, if i put %AUTO% for display i.e. Application type. Will it work? If not what should be done.

Steps:
SPRO--->General Data >Define Workstation Application>Select ACD(Autocad file type)-->Clcik   Define workstation application in network --> Add new Entry -->

Pdf file display issues

My team is experiencing an issue when trying to view a pdf from an HTMLResources.zip file on iOS.
The pdf will display, but then immediately slide back down and close the v27 iOS app. Any ideas why?

Thanks for pointing that out -- iOS5 support is in fact the reason that we've chosen to hold at v27. However, I will burn a v29 test app to see if it clears that problem up for us.

Ssrs 2008 export to csv file display issue

In a new SSRS 2008 report, I would like to know if there is a way to automatically expand the width of some of the rows when the data is exported to a CSV file so the data is displayed correctly. Here are examples that I am referring to:
1. In one column where there is suppose to be a date that looks like 12/11/2014, the value of ########## is displayed. The value of 12/11/2014 is what is setup in the SSRS formatting option.
2. In a number field that is suppose to look like 6039267049 the value that is displayed is 6E+09.
Basically if I manually expand the width of the columns that I am referring to above, the data is displayed correctly. Thus can you tell me what I can do so that the data is disaplayed correctly in the CSV file and ther user does not need to manually expand

After testing the issue in my local environment, I can reproduce it when use Excel to open the csv file. As per my understanding, there is no width when we export the report to csv, Excel is just using the default cell sizes when we open the csv. So when
a date value is wider than the default cell size, it would be displayed as ##########. When a number value is wider than the default cell size, it would use Scientific format.
As to the date value, we can use the expression =cstr(Fields!Date.Value) to replace the former one =Fields!Date.Value. In this way, the width of the value is narrower than the default cell size, so that the date value can be displayed correctly. For the
number value, it already narrow down the width with Scientific format. Or we can Select all the cells in the csv file, then click Format| AutoFit Column Width to change all the cells width to fit its corresponding values in Excel level.
Besides, we can try to export to excel instead of csv. Excel format can inherit the column width in the report. So in this way, we can directly change the width to fit the values in Reporting Services level.

Microsoft OneDrive and Canon 70D RAW Files display issue

Hello Guys,
I have a Canon 450D and I was really surprised that my RAW files (*.CR2) were displayed on Microsoft OneDrive without making a JPG files.
That's really cool !
Few weeks ago I receive my new Canon 70D.
I have upload my RAW files (*.CR2 also) on OneDrive and the file is not displayed.

Camera RAW is more of a "concept" than a specific standard. The idea behind a RAW file is that the data unloaded from the chip will not be altered in any way which results in a loss of original data.
JPEG images use a "lossy" compression algorithm which will normalize data when differences are so subtle that your eye probably would not have noticed the difference. But when images are adjusted, subtle differences may be "stretched" and the loss of the original data can be detrimental to ability to adjust the image later and still get good results.
BUT... since every camera can have a difference sensor, different resolutions, etc. the method needed to decode a RAW file and display the image can be different literally on a model-by-model basis. When you work with RAW files, you always need the codec specific to that very camera model.... not just "any" .CR2 codec will work. This is the same with all other brands of cameras as well.
Microsoft does not include camera RAW updates in the default OS updates that you may be applying to your computer on a regular basis (Apple does... every couple of months I get a camera RAW update and if I read the notes, it'll have a list of new camera models on the market for which they've added RAW support.) But Microsoft DOES make the RAW updates available... they're just not automatic. You have to go download and install them.

Less destructive fix for the "original file could not be found" issue

+(Note: this is mostly a copy of the post I just submitted in reply to http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6785594#6785594)+
Most solutions to the "The song xxx could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" issue involve deleting iTunes library files, deleting-then-re-importing everything from iTunes, and other destructive techniques. I found an easier fix for this, but it might be (a) specific to libraries on a network drive (NAS) or (b) specific to me. YMMV, but give it a try. This was on a Mac, so a Windows solution might exist with the same technique. Please post here and let me know if this works for you!
After some investigating and trial-and-error, I discovered that if I viewed a list of songs in Finder, iTunes could find the files again. For example:
*Double click on a song in iTunes and get the "original file could not be found..." error. Do not say 'Yes' to locating it.
*Open Finder and locate that Folder of songs
*Double-click on another song from that album. It should work.
So, my fix: *run a command that lists/touches every file in your iTunes music folder.*
For Macs:
*Open Terminal
*Run this: *ls -R /Path/To/Your/iTunes\ Music \Folder/* (note how you 'escape' spaces in the folder name with back-slashes).
Windows:
*Start - Run - cmd
*Run this: dir /s \Path\To\Your\"iTunes Music Folder" (note that you escape spaces by quoting the dir name.)
My NAS is named "VAULT" so my command was "ls -R /Volumes/VAULT/My\ Music/" You will see the files being listed at light speed -- ignore this. It will run for a while, depending on how many files you have, about 30 seconds for me. After executing this I could listen to any music file in iTunes!
But, every time I lost my connection to my NAS, such as waking from sleep mode, I had to run it again. So I created an Automator application and a Apple Script to run it from within iTunes so I can run it any time I need to. If you don't want to do that, just run the command I specified. I have seen more problems created by the consolidate command than I have ever seen fix things... I'm not saying it does not work but what it does do and what it does not is very hard to work out for most and major problems are the result...
to sort your problem do this...
1. Open your iTunes folder in the Home Music folder and make a backup copy of the iTunes Library file and put on the desktop.
2. Start iTunes and in the Library sort on the Heading 'Date added' ... you may need to install it... control/click on heading-bar and select from popup menu.
3. When you have sorted scroll to half way and you will see the songs are split evenly... select the ones you want to remove with a shift/click and hit delete key... say no about move to trash for now.
4. Check that everything is as you want it... if so carry on... if not come back and tell me what happened.
5. Quit iTunes and put the iTunes Library file in the iTunes folder in a safe place like your Documents folder... drag the copy from desktop and put it in the iTunes folder.
6. Check the name is correct on the 'copy' edit it to be iTunes Library.
7. Start iTunes by double/clicking on the file and go through steps 2 & 3 again but this time when you delete say yes about move to trash... don't empty it yet 1st check that all is OK with your library.
You can edit the good files that you are left with but the addition of '01' in the name will not have any adverse effect on them at all... editing with an Applescript is very easy.

DMS Connector to Portal Issue PDF files does not work

I have a general issue regarding PDF files from DMS, these files are all defect when opened through the portal (works fine through backend access), but other document types works fine (like .doc;.ppt, *.xsl etc..).
It is possible to download the file to your local pc, but still the same error occurs.
When Adobe Reader opens a info box shows The file is damaged and could not be repaired.
I have tried to update Acrobat Reader without any luck.
Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

I will never understand why but in the end I rebuilt my 32 bit dell laptop from scratch and the pdf files can now be searched.
I cannot search them on a mapped drive as I was able to with Windows XP because now they must be indexed and windows 7 will seems not to allow a mapped location to be indexed which must be done to make the pdf files searchable so I have had to move the files to the local drive.
My Windows 7 64 bit systems can search the mapped drives just fine without needing to be indexed. Again I will never understand why this works and the 32 bit machine does not.

Have you moved or deleted those tracks on your computer (the gift card has got nothing to do with it) ?
You might be able to re-download them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes (re-downloading isn't possible in all countries) - if those songs appear there then delete the entries from your iTunes library (where you are clicking on them to play them and gettinf the 'original file' error), and they should then get a cloud symbol against them for re-downloading.
If they don't appear in that link then have you got them on, for example, an external drive ?

How to maintain keywords for a original files in DMS?

How to maintain a Keywords for all original files which are already available in content server? I have done the following steps for full-text search(content search) with in originals.
1.Configured RFC from TREX to R/3
2.Created SSR with VERITY search engine
3.Configured MIME types in DMS
4.Indexing has been done
5.We ran RSTIRIDX program as a background job.
After doing above all for activating full text search in CV04N, The text box search text is enabled, how ever when we try to search for a text in original we are getting the message:"No documents found with these selected parameters".

Acrobat 9 Pro - How do I get inserted scanned pages to display the same size as the original file?

When I insert scanned pages into Acrobat 9 Pro document, the scanned pages display much larger than the original file. They are all 8.5 x 11, but the inserted pages look HUGE compared to the original pages. HELP!

Check the resolution of your scanned files compared to the PDF. A 300dpi file placed into a 72dpi will appear larger.

My music library seems corrupted. Nearly every song (431 albums) displays "the song ... could not be used because the original file cannot be found". Is there any way to correct this? Please help, thanks, Kelly

Select one of the songs in question and right click, then select "Get Info". On the main dialog page you should see where iTunes thinks the file resides. Then use Windows Explorer to see if the file is actually there. If not, find out where your music is stored.If there is not a correlation between iTunes and reality, go into iTunes and delete all of the files which are not found. Then, in iTunes, select File->Add Folder to Library and select where the music is stored. iTunes will re-add all of the music into your library.
