DNG 6.2.0.28 doesn't recognize my CR2s.  Why not?

I am pulling my hair out trying to make DNGs, since apparently simply opening a file in Photoshop is not an option with my incredibly widely-selling camera (Canon T3i).
So, I have the appropriate version of DNG for my OS (yes, I checked), and when I try to convert a folder, I get "The source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files."  My folder full of CR2s just as they come out of the camera.
On my laptop, when I try to convert, I get "Unable to parse files", and "No files were converted".
Hello?  Apparently I have geniuses in my computers.  Can anybody help?
I am operating Vista Ultimate on the desktop, with CS5, and on the laptop, Windows 7 with CS4.  I have also installed Camera Raw updates on both machines.

8.4 what?
Load???   Load where??  You download it, install it and launch it, as you would any other application.  Leave the loading for your firearms.
It's amazing how many recent posters seem to be under the misconception that there are clairvoyants and mind readers among the forum contributors.
Here's my one-click boilerplate reply:
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand, such as your platform (Mac or Win), exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop and of Bridge, machine specs, what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far, what error message(s) you receive, if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them, etc., someone may be able to help you.

    Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. All of the Camera Raw technology is part of the Lightroom program. You will either have to upgrade to Lightroom 5 or use the DNG converter to create digital negative copies that can be used with Lightroom 4.

  • Cmd-Opt-V pastes effects but doesn't remove those there-Why not?

    Hi
    Been going thru some lessons, what fun, how helpful learning shortcuts and techniques I haven't employed up to now. Anywho...
    When I copy a clip (intending to paste them to another clip) and then press Cmd-Opt-V, it pastes effects from the copied clip but doesn't remove those to the targeted clip. Why not?

    elmer

    That is the way the application works.
    To my mind, that is a better choice than would be deleting the existing effects.
    On the other hand, it might be useful to have a "remove effects" command - though I would not use it very often.
    You can use the feedback to request/suggest features. I don't think that they will change this, as it is bound to annoy at least as many people as it pleases.

  • PS CS4 with CR 5.7, Lightroom 2.7, DNG-converter 5.6 all fail to recognize 1000D .cr2

    I , like others have experienced http://forums.adobe.com/message/3706070#3706070,  also can't open Canon 1000D .cr2 raw files even though it's listed as supported in the Camera Raw 5.7 Readme http://www.adobe.com/special/photoshop/camera_raw/Camera_Raw_5.7_ReadMe.pdf
    I use PS CS 4 with Camera Raw 5.7 on a PowerPC G5 and I have no problems opening raw files from Nikon, say,
    There seems to be no official response from Adobe how to solve this problem, even though this is not new. What knowledge came out of earlier cases? Does Camera Raw 5.7 support CS4 on PowerPC or doesn't it? If not, why isn't that exception listed in the documentation?

    In the interest of other 1000d owners that encounter the same problem I have, It seems that provided one were shooting Raw + jpg there is a possible bug that will produce corrupt RAW files if you transfer them using the 1000d camera. Symptoms are that the RAW files are about the same size as the jpg-files when you have imported them. This was the case with my files. Raw files should be bigger than the jpg counterpart.
    The solution is to use a RAW-compatible card reader to transfer with. or for the future, to shoot only in RAW.
    Considering that RAW import is something Adobe control via Camera Raw, I can't but help to feel their communication with Canon and also here in this very discussion as all the others that concerns the same issue, that someone working for Adobe, who is posting here in the forums about these matters, could have mentioned this bug years ago. Not to mention have worked it out with Canon, so that Adobe products would work fully with the 1000d camera that Camera Raw is officially supporting.

  • I have yahoo music player on home page worked with firefox 3, chrome, ix, doesn't with firefox 4 why not

    yahoo is home page. yahoo music worked with firefox till I upgraded to firefox 4. Works with ie and just tried chrome. Screen comes up, video doesn't play, just grey in video screen. Norton security isn't blocking. Would rather use firefox, If firefox 4 won't work, how do I install previous version. Thanks Vernon.

    Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.
    If it fails regardless, you can try changing the user agent like this:
    #In the location bar at the top, type: '''about:config''' and hit Enter.
    #In the filter at the top, copy/paste the following: '''general.useragent.override'''. This will display a blank page.
    #Right click anywhere in the blank area and choose "New" and then "String". In the dialog box which appears, copy/paste '''general.useragent.override''' again and click OK. The dialog box will remain on screen, but you'll see that name appear above where it previously said "Enter Preference Name".
    #Next, copy/paste the following: '''Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0'''
    #Click OK and then go to File | Exit. Restart Firefox again and see if it works.
    #I've uploaded a screenshot for you to illustrate the steps above.
    Hopefully, your uni's webmaster will update their site to work with Firefox 4.0 soon.

    Firefox told me for safety reasons I needed to update the OS on my Mac which I did.
    Now You Tube doesn't work in Firefox (though it does in other browsers)
    On line I have have found an add-on which claims to fix the problem, but it comes with warnings that there might be safety issues. (Author not verified)
    My OS system is up to date, as is Firefox.
    Shall I just use another browser?

  • ITunes Recognizes the files, why not iPod?

    I have read through the rest of these question and answer forums. I have downloaded Videora and have converted files of both the DVD and downloaded variety into MPEG-4 file types.
    iTunes accepts and plays these file formats on my computer. The last step, however, them uploading onto my iPod, is not happening. The iPod itself doesn't display the " videos" option at all. I tried reconverting all my files, and I have no luck.
    I restored my ipod and tried again from the begining. No luck.
    Does anyone know of a solution?
    My iPod is a 30G. I run on a PC OS, Windows XP.

    Welcome To Apple Discussions!!!
    Are you sure you have a Video iPod?
    Not trying to sound stupid. Just saying if you have a Video iPod and there is no "Video" option in the menu of the iPod then you got a problem. Look on the box that came with the iPod and make sure you have a Video iPod.

  • Mount -o users doesn't work as intended, why not?

    I'm trying to modify some of the udev rules in the Arch wiki to work better for my setup. So I have this as /etc/udev/rules.d/11-media-by-label-auto-mount.rules:
    BUS!=usb, KERNEL!="sd[a-z]*", GOTO="media_by_label_auto_mount_end"
    # Import FS infos
    IMPORT{program}="/sbin/blkid -o udev -p %N"
    # Get a label if present, otherwise specify one
    ENV{ID_FS_LABEL}!="", ENV{dir_name}="%E{ID_FS_LABEL}"
    ENV{ID_FS_LABEL}=="", ENV{dir_name}="usbhd-%k"
    # Global mount options
    ACTION=="add", ENV{mount_options}="noatime,users"
    # Filesystem-specific mount options
    ACTION=="add", ENV{ID_FS_TYPE}=="vfat|ntfs", ENV{mount_options}="$env{mount_options},utf8,gid=100,umask=002"
    # Mount the device
    ACTION=="add", RUN+="/bin/mkdir -p /media/%E{dir_name}", RUN+="/bin/mount -o $env{mount_options} /dev/%k /media/%E{dir_name}"
    # Clean up after removal
    ACTION=="remove", ENV{dir_name}!="", RUN+="/bin/umount -l /media/%E{dir_name}", RUN+="/bin/rmdir /media/%E{dir_name}"
    # Exit
    LABEL="media_by_label_auto_mount_end"
    And it mounts usb sticks just fine. Problem is, I still get a permission denied error when trying to unmount them, despite using the "users" mount option, which is supposed to let *any* user unmount the device.
    So I tried mounting the stick manually with the users option...
    # mount -o users /dev/sdb /mnt
    And still got the error on trying to unmount it:
    $ umount /dev/sdb
    umount: /dev/sdb is not in the fstab (and you are not root)
    So it looks like the users option is not working the way the fstab man page says it should. What am I doing wrong here?
    Edit: the users mount option works fine for CDs. Is there a way to make it work for USB sticks, or am I just stuck?

    Thanks... Kind of strange, that. Is there a way to use pmount and give unmount permissions for all users, so that I don't have to do the silly mount-as-a-specific-user thing?
    Edit: Oh N/M, just unmounting with pumount works great. Thanks!

  • Everything deleted & iTunes & Updater doesn't recognize iPod

    Yeah, that's my problem. Funny thing is, I didn't do anything to the iPod to cause the problem. One day I was just adding songs to the iPod & using it like a hard drive (things I've done before with no problems) & then I turn it on two days later to find all my songs deleted. It was returned to factory settings when I didn't do anything.
    I hooked iPod up to my computer & it's not recognized by iTunes or the Updater. My computer, however, recognizes it & says that the iPod has the memory it did before the problem. I read the article for when iPod isn't recognized by iTunes or iPod, but I don't know if this would also apply because I also have the another problem. I didn't try this yet because I gave my iPod to some one to help me. He couldn't solve my problem so I'm turning it over to all of you.
    Thanks so much!

    Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
    Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
    This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.
    Also See:
    Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod
    iPod does not appear in iTunes or on the desktop
    iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes

  • TS1646 I have entered my ZIP code correctly but it's five digits long and the Store "corrects" it to the nine-digit version, which my bank doesn't recognize.

    I tried calling the support line for this and got hung up on, but the only thing wrong here is what the iTunes Store is doing--"correcting" my five-digit ZIP code to a nine-digit version my bank doesn't recognize. It's not like I'm going to change my correct billing address for this, so what do I do?

    Have your bank put the full 9-digit zipcode into your records. The postal service doesn't require them, but they prefer them. It's very common to have the zipcode changed by online vendors to assist in shipping.
    The problem is with your bank. Their software should know better.

  • DNG Converter Doesn't Recognize NEF for D7000

    I have been lon time user of Adobe DNG Converter with Olympus E-500 but I recently got the new Nikon D7000. I have Elements 9 and I am using DNG Converter 6.3.0.79. I download the Elments Verison of the Camera Raw update that came out in December 2010. When I open up my DNG Converter it doesn't recognize any of the NEF files on my camera. I must missing somthing but not sure what it might be. Do I need to add a profile somewhere for it to see the NEF extention? I am bit at a loss.
    Thanks for any help

    What do you mean by reinstall? Do I reinstall PSE 9 and then apply the patch or do I just do the patch again? I have installed the patch a couple of times and nothing is different. There is something wrong with the installation because now my Olympus RAW files do not show up either and they did as of yesterday prior to the installation of the 6.3 update.
    And yes I can load the NEF into Elements but I like the batch convert option for RAW files.
    Thanks everyone for your help.
