DNG Converter 6.7 release candidate

Which version of the Mac OS is required to run the Adobe DNG Converter 6.7 release candidate application? I have successfully installed it, but seem unable to open it. The converter icon is sitting right there in my Applications folder, but it will not launch. My old Mac OS 10.4.11 is likely the cause of that, right?

Thanks Station One. Fortunately I am running an Intel Mac. I can upgrade to OS 10.7, via 10.6. In fact I've had the 10.6 upgrade disc in my hands for months. Just too uncertain about sliding it into the machine and setting if off! I expect the worse that can happen is that some existing files will not open and applications will not run, and will themselves need to be updated. Never seems to be the right time to take that on. But, now I must. I've done a little research on taking precautionary, backing-up steps beforehand.

  • DNG Converter 5.5 RC misidentifies Olympus E-P1 17mm lens

After using the DNG Converter 5.5 release candidate on Mac OS X to convert .ORF files from an Olympus E-P1 and the 17mm fixed focal length lens, I get the following erroneous lens description in the metadata of Lightroom once the DNG files are imported: "17.0-16657.0mm f/2.8"
Alas, I'm not getting that kind of zoom range out of this particular lens.
Anybody else seeing this? I don't have a problem with the 14-42mm zoom.

Stephen, can you please provide an example .ORF file shot with the 17mm? You

  • Canon G15 raw files and DNG converter

DNG 7.2 does not include the G15 raw file format. When will the Canon G15 raw files (CR2) be converted by the DNG converter?
This a question to the Adobe staff. Thanks for your answer.

You can use the DNG Converter 7.3 Release Candidate currently available on Adobe Labs:

  • DNG Converter 5.6 crashes

I just downloaded the DNG Converter 5.6 Release Candidate for Mac.  I have been trying to convert photo files from my Canon EOS 7D and the application crashes every time I try to convert.  I tried converting them right from a Firewire 800 card reader.  Then, I copied the files onto the computer and converting them from there: more crashing.  I guess the beta could use a little more polish.

Can you please supply a 7D raw file that is causing the DNG Converter 5.6 RC to crash on your system? You can use YouSendIt.com and post the link here (or email it to [email protected]).

  • Nikon AW110 .NEF Files in Camera Raw / DNG Converter

I'm a bit new to NEF, and even RAW to be honest. But far as I can see both DNG converter 8.2 and Camera Raw (newest) is not happy with the .NEF Files from my Nikon AW110 camera. It won't open them.
Is this something that will just be updated in DNG or RAW sooner or later? I have an early release of the AW110 and naturally there is not too much support out for it yet.
Please let me know if I should be able to open these or not. It's no worry if there's nothing i can do about it yet, I just want to make sure my camera raw or photoshop isn't broken.
Trying on OS X 10.9 (and 10.8) Photoshop 14.1.2 and Camera Raw 8.2.0.94
    Thanks guys

ACR/DNG Converter 8.2 were released mid-Sept, which seems to be about the time or just before the Nikon 1 AW1 was available, so you’ll need to wait until at least the next release of ACR 8.3 / DNG 8.3 sometime in during late-Nov to early-Jan timeframe, I’d expect, unless there is something strange about that camera that requires extra time.
The first place ACR/DNGC are available is the release-candidate at Adobe Labs, so check back there from time-to-time:
    http://www.adobe.com/
Here is the list of currently supported cameras, where the Nikon 1 series is just above the Olympus section:

  • ACR 8.7 release candidate, Nikon D750, Lens corrections tab

I capture images using a Nikon D750 & AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR lens with image quality set for NEF (RAW) + JPEG fine & image size set for Large. Slot 1 card saves the NEF files & slot 2 card saves the JPEG files. I download the images using Bridge CC Photo Downloader converting the NEF to a DNG while downloading. When editing the DNG image using the Lens Corrections tab in ACR it correctly recognizes the lens. When editing the JPEG image the same way it incorrectly identifies the lens as an AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED and does not offer a choice for the correct lens. I hoping this can be fixed soon. A workaround that seems fairly accurate is to choose the AF-S NIKKOR 24-70 f2.8G ED instead for the JPEG images.
I recently had to install Camera Raw 8.7 for CC Release Candidate Version: RC 1, Date: October 2, 2014 to recognize the D750 NEF files.

What you’re seeing is normal.  Most lens profiles from Adobe are for RAW files only.  Many cameras do their own corrections, nowadays, so Adobe cannot assume the raw profile would work for JPGs from the camera as a general case.  For example with my new Canon 7D Mark II, which I'm awaiting raw support for at all, I can select vignetting, chromatic-aberration and geometric distortion correction as separate items on the menu to be used for producing camera JPGs.  Adobe doesn't attempt to interpret such proprietary information and apply the appropriate correction for corrections I haven't already asked the camera to do, they just don't supply a lens profile at all for JPGs.  The kit lenses for some cameras seem to be the exception to this, as well as a few other lenses, which I'm not sure why they've supplied profiles for.  You can also download profiles others have created, themselves, using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader which you can find on the adobe.com site.
If you are confident you won't ever have distortion or vignetting correction enabled on your camera for the JPGs it produces, then you can hack a copy of the Adobe-supplied raw profile for a particular lens to be for non-raws, by changing the whateverRAW tag from True to False, and put the modified profile in the user-created profiles area of your computer and it’ll be seen and used.

  • Can you tell me when RAW (ORF) support for Olympus E-PL7 in Lightroom or DNG Converter is coming? The camera is no use to me until you provide support!

I recently bought the new Olympus E-PL7 an dam finding ti incredibly frustrating that Lightroom still doesn't support it. Is there any news on that?

First of all, this is a user-to-user forum. Nobody here can tell you when/if that camera will be supported. Secondly, Adobe doesn't make announcements like that in advance. The camera will be supported when it is. All of the previous models of that series are now supported in Lightroom, so I suspect it will only be a matter of time until your model will be supported. I know that isn't what you want to hear, but that is the reality of things. There is a release candidate of the next Camera Raw and DNG converter, but your camera is not listed as one of the newly supported cameras. That does not mean that it wouldn't be included in the final version. You just have to wait and see.

  • Confused - DNG Converter RC for RAW files from d810 - doesn't work...

    hi everyone -
sorry for the stupid question, but i've never had to do this before. i read somewhere here that if you download camera raw 8_6 and dng converter 8_6 you can convert raw files from d810. i just tried that with the dng converter and it says that the files are not recognized.
what am i doing wrong? can someone help me figure this out?
    many thanks in advance.

The first thing to point out is that the release candidate will not recognize the new small raw format. You'll have to shoot the full-sized raw images. The other thing to be aware of is that, in the DNG converter, when being prompted for the location of your raw images, it is asking for the FOLDER. Choose the folder, but don't open it. Then the DNG converter will convert the raw files contained within that folder.
If you want to shoot TIF, you would probably have better image data to work with than you would with JPEG images. But it still wouldn't be as flexible, and you wouldn't have as many options as you would shooting raw. Try the DNG converter with my suggestions and see if it works for you.

  • How often does Adobe update DNG converter and/or Camera Raw to read files from new model cameras?

My PC operates with Windows 7. I now have PSE 11 with Camera Raw version 7.1.0.354 which will not open my new Panasonic LX7 cameras RW2 raw files.  I have tried to use DNG version 5.7.0.213 (the latest) to convert my RW2 files to DNG files but it won't recognize the RW2 files as even existing.  Can I expect Adobe to update either of these programs any time soon?  If not, any ideas?  Thanks
(This is my first question on any forum, so hope I have used the correct protocol.)

I believe the current Release Candidate (ACR 7.2 RC) supports your camera.  You can download it from the Adobe Labs site.
    http://labs.adobe./downloads/cameraraw7-2.html
This is a Release Candidate, which means it is not completely checked out but Adobe would like users to use and report problems.  It will be released before the end of October as a production release.
I know this works with Photoshop CS6, but don't know about Photoshop Elements 11.

  • When is RAW (ORF) support for Olympus E-PL7 in Lightroom or DNG Converter coming?

When are you planning of implementing this feature?
    Thank you!

  • DNG converter for RAW files

I have been using Dng converter to convert RAW files from an unsupported camera (Olympus sp350) for importing into iphoto. Unfortunately the latest version of iphoto (9.2) does not seem to be compatible with the latest Adobe dng converter (6.3.0.79). Any suggestions?

The first thing to point out is that the release candidate will not recognize the new small raw format. You'll have to shoot the full-sized raw images. The other thing to be aware of is that, in the DNG converter, when being prompted for the location of your raw images, it is asking for the FOLDER. Choose the folder, but don't open it. • Update for DNG converter for D750?

Anyone "in the know" have any idea when Adobe may release or have a release candidate for DNG converter that supports the Nikon D750?  Have work to be done with the camera, can't reliably work with the raw files...
    Thanks...

Adding to what JJ said, check out this Adobe blog link. Your camera is pretty new to the market, so don't expect out-of-the-box support as Adobe has to get that specific camera model in there during its next round of Camera Raw/DNG Converter updates.

  • Where is DNG converter 8.6?

I understand that the Adobe DNG converter works on raw images in file folders. What I need to know is how to find and start the program. I searched all over but only found ACR 8.6 RC. Is the DNG converter part of that install package?  I installed ACR 8.6 RC. Now Bridge uses that when opening a raw file in ACR, but I cannot see that DNG converter was installed, too. How do I get DNG converter to work? Thanks, Ken

It's at the bottom of the following link:
Download Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 8.6 Beta - Adobe Labs
The link says Camera Raw, but the last little late to the bottom of the screen is for the DNG converter. When you're looking for release candidates and other new technologies, Adobe Labs is what you should look.  Incidentally, all versions of the DNG converter work on raw files in folders. What is a you are referring to specifically?
