DNG images appearing blue

When I open my .dng images, they appear fine in Camera Raw Plug-in, however once I click Open Image, my image turns bluish in Photoshop
I downloaded a sample DNG image from the net to test and here is what I see
This is how the image appears in Camera Raw
This is how it appears after I click open image

Undo that? Why?
I changed it back to the default Adobe RGB and now again my images appear blue
I dont know whats going on
I feel for you!
You should leave your Photoshop working space as AdobeRGB. Your workspace is totally separate to your display profile, and only determines which colours you can work with in your images, and potentially save in a finished file.
Your display profile determines how known colours finally appear on your screen. Your calibrator instructs you to get the best picture possible on your monitor, and then generates a display profile so that your CM-aware applications know how to display colours correctly. It seems, in this case, that it got it wrong.
This is why I suggested using sRGB or the manufacturer's profile. It may not be perfect, but it could prove that your handmade profile is way off. If your monitor is a new-ish wide-gamut variety, the sRGB profile will produce over-vivid results as a display profile, so the manufacturer's own (if available) would be the best starting point.

  • DNG image not appearing in Bridge CS6

When I open Bridge on my laptop I find that instead of images from the DNG files appearing, what I get are small icons having DNG and a camera iris.  This happened after I reinstalled the CS6 program. (I managed to lose the icuuc40.dll file and received a message advising to reinstall the program).
I use my laptop when travelling.  I download all files from the camera onto it and view them in Bridge.  After returning home I transfer the files to the PC desktop for processing etc..  Bridge is working normally on the desktop.
Assistance in sorting matters will be greatly appreciated.

  • DNG image quality in iPhoto

I have recently acquired a Zeiss Photoscope (in effect, a spotting scope with an integrated camera) which records raw images as either JPG or DNG files or both. (I'm a birdwatcher who likes to take photos of them, not a photographer first and foremost). When I view the images in iPhoto 9.2, the highest quality JPG files are far superior to the DNG files, even though the JPGs are about 2 MB while the DNGs are 14 MB. The DNGs are obviously pixellated even at low ISO settings (50 or 100), while the JPG images appear sharp and show pixellation only when blown up digitally in iPhoto.
In some cases, I see evidence of chromatic aberration in the DNG images that is less evident in the JPG files, too.
Is there something about the way DNG files work with iPhoto that causes this? Is there recommended software for looking at DNG files that might eliminate the problem? Any other ideas about how to resolve this?

Even as an ardent Mac fanatic since 1984, I have to tell you that iPhoto is an unmitigated piece of cr@p when it comes to image quality, though it has certain hand-holding features that make it very attractive to photo amateurs.
The raw conversion, whether from a straight raw file or from a raw DNG file, will be far superior if you view them after converting/rendering them in Adobe software, either Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw.  The latter, a free plug-in, can be hosted either by the (very expensive) full version of Photoshop, or by the relatively inexpensive ($99.99) Photoshop Elements, although when hosted by Photoshop Elements it only offers a subset of the controls, adjustments and functionality of the very same plug-in when hosted by the full version of Photoshop.

Once I click on a image in the light table in Bridge it takes several seconds before that image appears in the preview box.And to move from one image to another in the light table is also very slow. I get the dreaded spinning wheel. Also once in a while when I click on an image in the light table I get a black border around the image.
When I click on a image from a Nikon D2X DNG file it appears instantaneously in the preview box and I can move from one image to another without any delay.
Has anyone run into this problem and are there any suggestions to correct the problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Gene

  • Camera raw and DNG files appear as generic icons

Camera raw and DNG files appear as generic icons instead of image previews (Bridge CS5)
    What can I do ?

    Hi Yammer.
First thanks a lot for taking your time to help me. I am really happy about it!
    I will try to answer:
    1)
I meant by having the Camera Raw.8bi placed in BOTH "C:\Programmer\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS5\Plug-Ins" and in C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\Adobe Plug-Ins\CS5\File Formats" the ACR will be found in two versions - or rather in two places (I know the former shouldn't be, but it solved my preview problem).
    2)
YES - I do have tried twice starting the Adobe Bridge holding down the Ctrl-key and ticking the two (the third was greyed out but ticked anyway) and with no help.
    3)
I have tried to do the *.8bi search you suggested, and this gives me the following dump - absolutely with a few more entries than yours. Some are like doubled.
Do you think I can just delete these?
    Kind regards, Jan

  • Raw vs. DNG image quality

    Operating system is XP
I have a Canon 40D with CR2 files that need to be read. I do not YET have Photoshop CS3. Still on CS2. The advice here has been to download the DNG converter that comes with the camera raw version for CS3.
I downloaded and used the CS3 DNG converter which creates files that you can open in CS2 that are supposed to have all of the information / quality of your original CR2 RAW file.
From what I can see, this is not the case. Converting the CR2 RAW files with the DNG converter appears to to discard color information and introduce artifacts. Here is one example showing the unconverted CR2 RAW image on the left (opened in Windows Live Photo Gallery) and the image after DNG conversion on the right (opened in Photoshop CS2). The color loss is obvious. The artifacts are most evident on the whiskers. I did a screenprint and saved the RAW & DNG together as a JPEG, but you can still see the difference:
    http://www.k9tag.com/rawvsdng.html
Is it just me, or am I losing information with the DNG conversion? Would I lose this same information when opening 40D files with CS3 Camera RAW? Is there another utility that I should be using to open / convert my 40D files that will not lose information? I want my digital files to be all that they can be.
    -Mark

    > if I had CS3 and opened the file in camera raw instead of converting to a DNG, would I see these same artifacts?
Mark, pls make a clear distinction between varying the programs and varying the file format.
ACR in CS3 is not the same as ACR in CS2. See some threads below about the integrated, non-negotiable noise reduction in ACR 4. I have not used ACR 3, but I heard that there are many other differences. So, the result between files created by ACR in CS2 will be different from that created by ACR in CS3.
However, if you process a CR2 file with ACR 4 and a DNG file converted from that raw with the same ACR, the results will be identical.
You are barking up the wrong tree with DNG. ACR delivers different result from DPP, no matter if ACR 3 or ACR 4.
Plus, you are comparing the ACR result with a JPEG created by the camera firmware. The latter has been created by applying the in-camera settings sharpening, contrast, saturation, color tone, and of course white balance. DPP would create almost identical result, because it applies the same settings (they are recorded in the raw file). ACR does not apply these settings, so you need to make the necessary adjustments.
You have to decide, which one you like more (or dislike less): DPP or ACR, but this should be a well-informed decision, based on experience. For example I find DPP's colors better, but ACR's adjustments are superior, and ACR's colors can be enhanced somewhat. Plus DPP has a browse function as well, ACR can't compete with that.
Finally, please note that there is no "correct" rendering of a raw file. There are many *different* renderings. The JPEG straight out of your camera is not the measure of rendering, it is one of them.

  • Screen images appear in reverse or as a color negative on T61 Lenovo running Vista Ultimate

I have a problem with my t61 running Vista Ultimate where all of a sudden my screen images appear like a color negative.  The greens are blue and the reds are yellow and white is black.. and so on.  Has anyone experienced this and found a way to correct the problem?

    Thanks, I think you're right.
Any suggestions for a cheap and easy way to calibrate my monitors?

  • I am using the Adobe Acrobat Reader on a mac and I followed all the directions to copy an image but when I press paste only half of the image appears or it appears as an empty square. What can I do to fix this?

I am using the Adobe Acrobat Reader on a mac and I followed all the directions to copy an image but when I press paste only half of the image appears or it appears as an empty square. What can I do to fix this?

    Hello,
I would like to inform you that not all the browsers and online PDF readers support copying text from a PDF. If you have opened the PDF online, please download PDF file to your computer and then open the file in Adobe Reader.
Please share a screenshot if the issue still persists.

  • Image Appears in Browser, but not DreamWeaver

I inserted an image into my HTML page, but a gray icon (that looks like a torn page) appears instead of the image in both Live View and Design View.
However, when I open the page in a browser, or I test it on a browser through DreamWeaver, the image appears as it should.
How can I fix this and have the image display normally in DreamWeaver? I need to see it in order to map hotspots on it for a roll-over map.
    Thanks in advance!

First check to see if the image is saved as RGB and not CMYK color space. Check the images size as if its big Dreameaver may not show it. I mean is it 3mb or 300k Also check that the image has been inserted into the Dreamweaver page as 'document' relative rather than 'site root' relative which you can choose when inserting the image.
Failing that if it shows in the browser then link us into the page and I'm sure someone will be able to detemine why its not showing in Dreamwaever

  • When browsing a new library that I created, the browser shows dotted lines around grey rectangles, no images. When I double click on a rectangle the image appears. How do I get images to appear in the browser rectangles?

When browsing a new library that I created and exported onto an external hard drive, the browser shows dotted lines around grey rectangles, no images. When I double click on a rectangle, the image appears, but all the other rectangles remain empty - no image. How do I get images to appear in the browser rectangles? I am viewing this on a second computer (an older intel duo iMac), not the one I created the library on (a MacBook Pro). Both computers have Aperture 3.2.4 installed. When I return the external to the MacBook, all images appear in browser rectangles. What's happening on the iMac?

You may have a problem with the permissions on your external volume. Probably you are not the owner of your library on the second mac.
If you have not already done so, set the "Ignore Ownership on this Volume" flag on your external volume. To do this, select the volume in the Finder and use the Finder command "File > Get Info" (or ⌘I).
In the "Get Info" panel disclose the "Sharing & Permissions" brick, open the padlock, and enable the "Ignore Ownership on this Volume" flag. You will have to authentificate as administrator to do this.
Then run the "Aperture Library First Aid Tools" on this library and repair the permissions. To launch the "First Aid Tools" hold down the ⌥⌘-key combination while you double click your Aperture Library. Select "Repair Permissions" and run the repair; then repeat with "Repair Database". Do this on the omputer where you created the library and where you can see the thumbnails.
Then check, if you now are able to read the library properly on your iMac.

I need some help resizing my images on PS6. I am using a mac and have been trying to resize with same resolution and constaining proportions but for some reaseon the smaller resized image appears pizelated. Heres an image of before and after. The first image I use is a JPG 72dpi 1500px x1500px and I want to downsize it to 600x600px same res, but it keeps pixelating, this has never happened before. Any suggestions, thoughts?
    thanks!

I wouldn't say pixelated; more like blurry.
Like ConnectedCreative said, what steps are you using? Are you using "bicubic sharper" when resizing down?

  • Lightroom 5 file edited in photoshop cc 2014 does not appear back next to original after save. Is anyone else having this issue? If so what is the fix.  The edited image appears back in lightroom in a new folder.

Lightroom 5 file edited in photoshop cc 2014 does not appear back next to original after save. Is anyone else having this issue? If so what is the fix.  The edited image appears back in lightroom in a new folder.

I'm performing a normal "Save", not "Save As". Work flow I'm using is as follows:  Select photo in Lightroom 5.7 >" Edit In" Photoshop CC 2014 > (after working on photo is PS) > Save > close PS. Photo returns to Lightroom 5.7 in a new folder rather than next to the original. Prior to purchasing the monthly plan and upgrading to PS CC 2014, I performed this same work flow using Lightroom 5.6 and Photoshop CS6 without any issues.
Just for fun... I attempted to move the edited file back into the original folder. I received a prompt that said the file already existed in the original folder, however I can't see it except the new folder that LR created. I tried several different sort orders, etc without any success.
*** Follow up: Was unable to resolve the issue using Photoshop CC 2014. Uninstalled PS CC 2014 and went back to using Photoshop CS6. Return trips from LR 5.7 to Photoshop is now performing as it should: returning edited photo back to the original folder in LR 5 and placing next to the original image.
Should anyone have a suggestion on getting Photoshop CC 2014 to do the same, I would love to be educated.
    Thanks for the help, dj_paige.

  • Images appear fine in Photoshop cs6 and cc, but print too dark, and also show too dark in Windows picture viewer. How can I correct this? Is this a Photoshop setting issue or what?

Images appear fine in Photoshop cs6 and cc, but print too dark, and also show too dark in Windows picture viewer. How can I correct this? Is this a Photoshop setting issue or what?

Ok, look at your files in Photoshop. What is the profile assigned to them? You can find this out by going to the Status bar at the bottom, clicking on the right-pointing triangle and choosing document Profile from the list.
Then in Windows, go to your Control Panel > Color Management and add sRGB (if it isn't there) and select it as your default profile.
    I hope that will work.

  • Why does my high res photoshop image appear blurry when placed in InDesign and Exported as PDF?

    Hi there,
I have a problem I've been trying to solve for days but just can't find the answer anywhere on the internet.
I have a large, good quality photoshop file (2268 x 979 pixels, resolution 300 pixels per inch). When I place it into InDesign, the image appears OK (I've changed my display settings to HIGH) - I then resize it in InDesign to 10% and the file still looks great! Then, when I export it as PDF (high quality print) it looks blurry.
Does anybody know why? The strangest thing is, I've placed other photoshop images in the same InDesign file and they look crystal clear. It is just this one I am having trouble with. I've saved it in the same folder as the other pictures, I've tried placing it as psd. , jpg. , photoshop pdf, png. everything...
The image looks great in both photoshop and indesign, only when exported as pdf it looks awful.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
    Many thanks in advance!
    Weronika

It's probably the extreme reduction -- you're throwing away 90% of the image pixels and interpolating, and then using jpeg compression on top.
