DNG not converting Nikon D3X files.

I am trying to convert raw files taken with the D3X with Adobe DNG Converter v5.2.0.65 but Converter states there are no supported raw files.
The D3X is listed in the Adobe site as a supported camera.  Any clues as to what I am doing wrong?

You need DNG Converter 5.3 or later. Go here and grab the latest one:

Did you buy PSE in the mac app store? If not, just go to Help>Updates in the editor and update camera raw and you should be able to open the raw files in PSE 12 directly without the DNG converter.

  • Converting Nikon raw file

    Hi Folk,
Having converting Nikon raw files (NEF) I found that MB25 in NEF became MB 51 in DNG.
Is it normal? Can I have more data than in the original?
    Thanks
    Shaul

Yes, it's normal. DNG is a more generalized intermediate format and may require to fill in info just for compatibility reasons like padding chroma sub-sampling and the like.

I assume you're running Photoshop CC (not sure what you mean by "with CS3" unless that's the version you upgraded to CC from)

  • Why does elements 11 not recognize nikon nef files

I have been using Elements 11 for quite a while for Canon Raw files with great success. It really works fine for me.
I recently bought a Nikon D300. For some reason Elements 11 will not recognize the Nikon NEF raw files.
    W H Y ? ? ?

    Thank you for your reply.
    Answers to your questions:
I am using Win7 64 bit. Elements 11 has worked just fine until I attempted to process NEF files.
I always copy files to my HD before trying to process any.
How do I check to see if my Camera Raw module is current? EVERY time, regardless of day of the week or time of day, when do the Help/Update thing I ALWAYS  get that message block about website is busy, try again. I'll bet I've tried it over a hundred times over the past two weeks or so. I have a feeling that it can't be that busy for that long. Or, maybe I'm just unlucky, or maybe your server is too small to handle the load.
Needless to say, I am really frustrated with Adobe.
Again, thank you for your reply, and hopefully my answers will provide a solution.

  • Converting Nikon D4 files to FCP

    Howdy,
I know some of you must be using fcp or imovie to edit footage from the D4, My question is this are you converting the .mov files over to pro res or any other friendly edit code? and if you are what are you using??? when i research this on the web i keep getting these stand alone converters. are any of them good??
as i type this i am waiting for imovie to import my files and it is taking days!!!!  (why? time date stamp feature, if you know the FCP work around, i will kiss you)
i have ok experience with video editing, but it always been dv and capturing, digital video clips is totally new to me.
i have FCP 7, imovie 09, was toying with getting FCP X.
    thanks

MOV video format came from Nikon D4 is a long GOP format that is highly compressed, it is not a good editing format.  So you will not playback or edit smoothly the highly compressed MOV on your Mac with FCP 6/7 or FCP X. You need to convert the 1080p HD MOV footage off your Nikon D4 to prores422 mov with Mac Nikon D4 MOV Converter for FCP 6/7 or FCP X.

  • Quicktime does not convert my .MOV file into a watchable format on Quicktime

    Hi guys!
I won't give you all a long sob story but basically, I went to my first music festival over the weekend and uploaded my videos onto my friends computer, I then uploaded these videos (i took with my iPhone) to Google Drive. When i got back onto my own computer, I download the .MOV files from Google Drive, these videos would not convert into a watchable format. It gives me the message -
"QuickTime Player can't open "IMG_8788.MOV". To see if additional software is available that will enable QuickTime Player to open the movie, click Tell Me More."
It says that Quicktime should support MOV files. I am using version 10.3 Quicktime player with iOS Mavericks. I really want help with this issue as I will be devastated if these videos are lost. My friend obviously deleted them off his computer because they did take up alot of space!

iPhone recorded files should already be compatible QT X v10.3 (and QL) as is in the MOV file container. However, the process of downloading, uploading, and again downloading the files may have created some sort of issue causing QT X to not properly "recognize" the content and thus, wants you to check for additional support.
In any case, will the files open in any other media players? (E.g., VLC, MPlayerX, NicePlayer, QT 7, MPEG Streamclip, etc.) For instance, if the files open in QT 7 Pro, MPEG Streamclip, or VLC, you may be able to copy the data to a new MOV file container which QT X will open and play. (I.e., this procedure does not recompress the data and is reasonable quick. Also not sure if using the "Command-D" Finder option to "duplicate" the file will create a "readable" file or not but you might try it.)

  • Will not convert a PDF file to Word

Since Wednesday, 12/10, I have not been able to convert a PDF file to Word.  We have a paid subscription to do that and it looks like our account is active and in good standing.  This is very frustrating.  Who do I contact for technical support.

Sorry, not sure what that means.  Do you mean to convert on the website?  If that is so, it won't convert there either - as I tried this morning.
If mean something else, please forward the website address.

  • Aperture 3.1.1 does not import Nikon RAW files from Nikon Coolpix P7000

    Hi,
I'm running Aperture 3.1.1. The problem is that it will not display Nikon RAW (NRW) files from the Coolpix P7000.
Recently, a compatibility update was published for the Coolpix P7000 and other cameras. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1339?viewlocale=en_US
When I load the update however, the installer tells me that "this update is only for Iphoto 11 and Aperture 3" which is a bit odd , since I have Aperture 3 ?!
    Can anyone help please ?
    Kind Regards
    Andreas

Welcome to the list. Make sure you read the [Help & Terms of Use|http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa] section when you get a chance.
Do you have Aperture installed in the Applications folder as Aperture (not Aperture3 or anything like that)?

  • Aperture does not import Nikon JPG files when RAW and JPG

I own a Nikon D2x that I download files to a Sony 40GB portable HD. When I shoot in RAW + JPG only the RAW file is imported when I connect the Sony HD to my Mac and import to Aperture.
If I open the Sony disk Icon on the Desktop, I can see both the RAW and the JPG. In fact I can finder copy both files to the Desktop with no problem.
Even when I connect the camera itself, the jpg files are not imported.
This makes me think I should just shoot in RAW and save the space on the memory card.
Why does Aperture not import the JPG files?

it does import them ... but only displays the RAW file ... if you drill down into the library package you will see them ...
here are threads dealiing with same issue ...

  • IPhoto 09 not reading Nikon raw files (.nef) properly?

Hey everyone. Over the weekend I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard. Everything seemed to be working correctly until I started using iPhoto. Since the upgrade, I've noticed that photos that I imported from a Nikon D700 seem to look pixelated. I took it to a Genius Bar and the dude helping me was at a loss. He said to try and re-install Snow Leopard, which I did, and that didn't help. I went back and he upgraded me to iPhoto 09...also didn't help. He said he thinks that maybe it's Snow Leopard/iPhoto bug. He said that it's not reading the raw files correctly and seeing them as thumbnails. We looked at the photo info of a random photo, and even though it was a large 10MB file (indicative of raw format) its pixels were 160x160. Weird. Also of note, both Photoshop and Lightroom view and display all photos correctly.
If anyone has any suggestions or solutions on how to fix this it'd be much appreciated!!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
We looked at the photo info of a random photo, and even though it was a large 10MB file (indicative of raw format) its pixels were 160x160.
That means that what you're seeing is the jpeg Preview inside the NEF and not the actual file.
My guess is that the your Camera Raw bundle is damaged.
    Go to
    HD / System / Library / Core Services / RawCamera.bundle
What version of this do you have?

  • Converting Nikon NEF files to DNG without adding Chromatic Aberrations?

Used Adobe converter 7.4.0.137 and got Cyan and Magenta abberations on all high contrast edges. NEF files were from a Nikon D7100 and look great using ViewNX 2 software. Is there a better converter?

The DNG Converter embeds a thumbnail and preview in the DNG that are rendered with whatever the Camera Raw defaults are set to do for the camera the DNGs are from, which if CA is automatically being removed by default, then the preview should have it removed, otherwise it won't.  Again, we'd need to understand what Adobe defaults are in effect for the camera when the DNGs are opened in the Camera Raw plug-in before understanding if this is a CA-no-on-by-default issue or a CA is not the type that can be corrected by the Adobe engine.
The Nikon engine might easily be masking narrow fringes of color by over-aggressive sharpening or via some automatic fringe-removal.
If the OP would post an example photo that exhibits the fringing, then others could test and comment on what can be done or not done to mitigate the issue in Adobe products.

  • Adobe Bridge CS4 Not converting camera raw files right?

I run an HP computer with Windows Vista 64 bit and have CS4. We also have a Canon 40D camera and shoot in camera raw format. When I download the images Bridge converts them into usable images. The last two times I've downloaded images, after converting them, Bridge showed a few of them as either not readable at all or with large chunks of the image whitened out. My husband shoots college football games and takes anywhere from 300 to 600 pictures at each game. October 14th was the first time we had problems, 5 or 6 shots out of 250 were showing up as corrupted. This last weekend there were 15 out of 307 images corrupted. Thinking that the card is going bad or we have a problem with the camera, we purchased a card rescue program Sandisk recommends to see if we could recover any of the images. It shows that all 307 images are on the card and in good condition. But, when I ran the recovered file through Bridge there were 31 images that are showing up as corrupted. I'm beginning to think there might be a problem in the conversion process and that it is getting worse each time it runs. Is this possible and if so, what can I do to correct it?
    Thanks for any help,
    Linda

Thanks Curt for the quick reply.
After a very stressful afternoon it appears that the card recovery program I downloaded just accesses the thumbnails on the card when it previews them, not the actual images. It would have been nice if they told me that before I forked out the money for it, but.... So although it was telling me they were there, they were not. It wasn't until I viewed the files in Bridge that the corrupt images were showing up. It is also showing more corrupt images than actually are. When I view the card in Bridge I'm still seeing the original corrupt images. We are leaning toward a bad battery grip with our camera. He is going to shoot without it the next time he does a game and see if we still have the problem.
    Thanks again for your reply.
