Dng_validate.exe write dng to dng and new file is 11 MB less in size

Hi,
I have the Sinar Hy6 with the eSprit 65 digital back.
This back writes DNG files. Based on dng_validate -v they are version 1.0.0.0.
I have done a dng_validate -dng.... and the resulting DNG file is 11 MB less in size and is DNG version 1.2.0.0 now.
Can some one explain why I have now 11 MB less ?
It seems that NO information is lost and I also can not see any difference in the pictures. Only that Infranview can now dispaly the DNG's where it fails on the original DNG's.
Thanks for help.

  • Installed Lightroom 5.2 and DNG 8.2 and NEF files are not supported.

I installed Lightroom 5.2 and DNG 8.2 and when I try and import NEF files I am told they are not supported.

If your camera is very new, like a Nikon Df, then wait until the next version of LR/PS/ACR for support.
If your camera model is newer than the latest version of LR, perhaps a Nikon D610, then you need LR 5.3/ACR 8.3/DNGC8.3 which are all available in release-candidate status at Adobe Labs:  http://labs.adobe.com/
If your camera is older and should be supported, then are you using and older Nikon Transfer or View NX that are corrupting your NEFs in a way that Adobe doesn’t recognize them?  The solution for this is to not use the Nikon products that predate your camera and install versions that came with your camera or are newer than your camera.  Or just use LR, itself, or the OS utilities like Finder and Explorer to copy the NEFs to your hard-drive.
If your files are corrupted by obsolete Nikon products, then there is a utility, here, that can undo the damage:

  • Verity and New File Formats

I've searched the help files, KB, and forums and don't see an
answer to this question: Are there ever updates to the Verity
search functionality in ColdFusion to accomodate new file formats,
such as the newer versions of Word, PDF v7.0 and 8.0, etc? While
the search functionality of CF is great, it's somewhat limiting if
it can't be updated to index the latest file formats.
So does anyone know if it's possible to update Verity
(without waiting for major version upgrades in CF)?

You are asking an excellent question, Jos!
Converting all of the videos to DV-AVIs before combining them in the same project is an excellent idea. Because you are using a Mac, however, you should use the DV-MOV as your common video format. To do this you should use Share/Computer/MOV using the PAL-DV preset. (There are many types of MOVs. A DV-MOV is a specific type of MOV that is used when shooting and editing video on a computer.)

  • 1.1.4 and new file system

Does 1.1.4 have a new file system?
I upgraded to 1.1.4 using iTunes. Now I am unable to load any application packages that are normally displayed by the installer.
When I tried to view what is in the iphone I see that the file system layout is different - there is only root.
Did I upgrade wrongly? or did I do it on a wrong day .
    THanks

Let me explain in case you didn't already know: the iPhone currently has two restrictions:
    1. it can only be used with one carrier (e.g. AT&T in the US)
    2. You cannot download any applications on to it.
Installer is a 3rd party app which allows you to download applications, but if you use it, you void your iPhone warranty.
In updating to 1.1.4, you have probably wiped installer of the iPhone, and are back to a standard iPhone (hopefully) - any 3rd party apps that were on the phone will have been wiped as well.
If you want more apps, the I would wait until late June, when version 2.0 will be released, which will allow you to download Apple-approved apps, without voiding your warranty.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't see anything in Print and New File window and others..

    Hello,
I just bought a new computer with Windows 7. I downloaded the Illustrator CS5 trial to check it out before I purchase it. It installed fine and I can open files but when I open the print menu, the print window opens in a long vertical rectangle, completely empty. If I press enter though, the file will print. When I go to new,  I have the same problem as well as with other menu options like document setup.
Is there any way to fix this? I tried running it under XP compatibility but that didn't make a difference.
    THANK YOU!

If you installed iWork from the disk, did you run the updates?
If you copied the app over from the old Mac you would also need a copy of the iWork '08 folder which is in Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support

  • Reading and writing u16 binary file to a new file

    Hello all,
a very simple thing that I just don't seem to be able to figure out. I have a file containing 1024bytes of unsigned 16bit words. I can read it successfully with the right value  being displayed. But then I try to write these values to a new file, I can no longer read the same value (in fact it's all grayed out 0) from the newly written file. The newly written file has the right size 1024 bytes, but I don't seem to obtain the right information. I made sure the endian are the same, little-endian.
Attached is my basic VI, and the .dat file is the file containing the binary information.
I'm not using copy file because once I get this figure out, I'll need to append more of the Scan.dat file to one single file.
    Thank you!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    read_write_binary_u16.zip ‏11 KB

I would put some wait time between the write and the read.  It may be a good idea to actually close the file in between.
I have a feeling that you may not have allowed enough time to actually have the file written out before you read it again.  That or since it is still open, the file pointer is at the end of the file and you are trying to read all the bytes starting at the end, which means you get nothing.
Not sure of the exact issue, but those two things comes to mind.

  • Action with new file with size from selection

    Hello,
I try to record an action that takes a copy of the current image and creates a new file with the same dimensions. The action I record always has the file size of the new image hardcoded in it. I tried to set Preset to Clipboard, but this is not recorded in the action. This is with CS3.
How can I create a new file that takes the current image size into account?
    Thanks for your help,
    Daniel

You can record the menu 'Image-Duplicate' to make a copy of the whole image without recording the size. If the doc only has one layer you can also record the flyout menu of the layer's panel to duplicate the layer to a new document. The size will not be recorded.

  • Error running exe to write to exel file: Error 7 New file not found

Hello!I have this problem, i've looked everywhere and i still can't solve it. It would be great if anyone can help me.
I built an application that writes an array to a spreadsheet file.
Everything works fine in Labview 7.1 , i can build the exe file, but
when i try to run it it doesn't work (it doesn't do anything although
in Labview works perfecty well)and i have this error:
<<Error 7 occurred at New File; Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW:  File not found. The file might have been moved or
deleted, or the file path might be incorrectly formatted for the
operating system. For example, use \ as path separators on Windows, :
on Mac OS, and / on UNIX.>>
I've attached the vi file and the exe file.
    Thank you

You've made a very, very common mistake and one discussed in numerous postings. When running in development mode and using the Current VI's Path, the path to a VI would be something like c:\folder\example.vi. When built, it becomes c:\folder\app.exe\example.vi. An extra strip path is required. Look at this, this, and this.

  • Dng and CR2 files display as icons in CS5

Now I have installed CS5 on three machines - a new installation on WIN7, and here everything is alright - no problem!
Two machines running XP wth a previous CS4 installation uninstalled show up in Bridge with this problem:
dng and CR2 files display as icons!!
Everything is updated, ACR plugin placed as should be, and Camera RAW is working fine when OPENING the file. It is only a display problem, but this is serious enough - you cannot go through your downloaded pictures.
I have tried to follow a solution close to the one given for CS4:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407945.html
but I am out of luck.
Is it an XP problem, or has it something to do with the previous installation of CS4?
Any suggestions will be great! I have searced, read, tried, searched, tried.... some share this problem, but I haven't seen any soloution.
    Thanks, Jan

Disclaimer:  The following applies to WINDOWS EXPLORER.  I don't use Bridge so I don't know if it's applicable at all to Bridge.
Adobe does not provide a codec for viewing Canon raw files as thumbnails.  Canon has one for free but it only works on a 32 bit Windows system.
Early this year I found a free download for displaying raw file thumbnails that works on an x64 Windows system.  Since that time the author realized there's a real demand for this software and has started charging for it.  In any case, I find it works very well.

  • Lightroom 5 can't write metadata to DNG files

I have converted a large number of Canon and Nikon raw files to DNG using Adobe DNG Converter (version 8.2.0.94).
Using Lightroom 5.2 I wanted to change metadata in these master DNG files.  I import the files into a catalog, select all, modify the metadata, then invoke the Metadata->Save Metadata to Files...  For many (but not all) of the files I get the following message:
"Could not write metadata.  Unknown file formats."
The DNG files reside on a Synology NAS server.  If I copy them to a local disk I do not get the above error.  But I would like to make metadata changes to the files on the NAS.
I do not have problems importing or viewing DNG files from the NAS.  Why does LR 5 have problems writing DNG metadata to the NAS?  How can I fix this?

    Thanks for replying.
The problem is definitely not one of permissions. I am accessing the NAS from an admin account with full permissions to read/write the files and directories.
I'm inclined to believe it's the second cause you propose -- network protocol causing data corruption.
It seems to be specific to writing metadata to large files such as DNG or TIFF.  I don't get errors writing to JPEG.  And it is inconsistent -- sometimes retrying fixes it.  And, oddly, sometimes I even get the error "photos have read-only access" when it's clear the permissions are OK.
On the other hand I have had no problems copying thousands of DNGs to/from the NAS -- no errors and no corruption.  So the issue seems to be an interaction between the NAS and LR when LR is updating the metadata on an existing file and the file is large.

  • Are my existing DNGs affected by a newer RAW-Algorithm ?

    Hi,
I'm thinking about switching to the DNG-Format for the RAW-Files taken with the Fuji X-E1.
When the initial RAW-Conversion for this file type was recently replaced by a much better one, my RAW-Files were automatically updated. I wonder if this would also have happened if I had saved my RAWs under the DNG-format.
Or, in other words, does a DNG include all the data from the original RAW allowing it to be reprocessed when a better technology is available ?
    Thanks

Normally the DNG file contains a form of the 1-color-per-pixel raw data; however, for Fuji X-Trans sensor cameras, at least before Adobe updated the demosaicking algorithm, the DNG files for Fuji XTrans-sensor cameras contained a demosaicked linear-DNG data-3-colors-per-pixel.
This was apparent after Adobe updated its algorithms for XTrans and the older DNGs still looked bad and could not be made to look ok, even with another conversion to DNG.  I am less sure if Adobe still does this with their newer XTrans decoding algorithm or not, but if I had an XTrans-sensor camera I would not convert to DNG unless I had reasonably compelling reason to do so.  I don’t current convert to DNG with my Canon cameras and I can’t imagine what would make me do so with an XTrans camera.
