DNS Alias not Updating on Communication Channel

Hi,
We use DNS Aliases when connecting to some of our servers. One interface connects to a server using FTP with alias FTPServer.
This FTPServer had a site switch over the weekend and the DNS Alias did not update in the communication channel. I had to ping the DNS Alias and put the server name into the CC to get the FTP to work.
Is there any way of getting PI 7.1 to refresh the DNS?
Thanks,
Gareth

• JDBC adapter type not visible in Communication Channel

Hi All,
I have deployed JDBC driver according to http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/00b4a020-4ae6-2c10-5a95-fed4ad9a4b60?QuickLink=index&… .
Driver deployed successfully and I have checked it in folder \usr\sap\xxx\DVEBMGS30\j2ee\cluster\bin\ext\com.sap.aii.adapter.lib\lib and it's found ok. But this adapter type not showing in Communication Channel only RFC and SOAP are showing there. I have restarted the server also. Can any one tell me where the problem is?

Hi Kuldeep,
Have you check the patch level of both java & abap has same ,if some thing different in Patch level of any of this it will not visible in communication channel

• IDOC adapter is not shown in communication channel

hi gurus,
at present i am using PI and in the communication channel list (adapters types) no idoc adapter is displayed ,can anyone help me to solve this problem.
and also when i create any scenario related to idoc those messages where not displayed in communication channel.

Hi Allen,
U r checking for an IDoc channels in Communication channel monitoring.IDoc adapter is reside in ABAP stack. So that u cant see the Idoc communication channels from monitoring of CC's. If Idoc messages is at sender side no need of CC.
If you want to view the source and target messages of Idoc's u can see those from SXMB_MONI.Choose u r processed message,Dbl click,For Idoc as sender u can view the message from payloads of Inbound message,For Idos as Receiver u can view the message from Payloads of Request message Mapping.
Hope it will helps..

• Unsolicted update in communication channel

I received a counter update in my communications channel for the following post: https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2569282
I'm neither tracking or following the discussion or space and I have not been participating in that discussion. I also have not accepted (ignored) any friend requests. Thought I just let you know in case this might indicate a more general issue or bug.

A very successful person once told me "Stop doing it if it is no fun any more." This was after he sold his stable of Ferraris.
There does not have to be a strong link between quality software and large organizations. In fact, there might be some negative correlation. There has to be a strong sales organization and strong marketing. There is little feedback from the technically astute users to the decision makers.
Linkedin, Facebook, and yes, Google all put out some garbage. I think the "new development paradigms" turn programmers into amateurs. (The google groups UI has some obvious goofs - favorited groups don't get bolded to indicate new messages until after you look at the group, the reply editor quoting adds a ridiculous amount of blank lines, search totally borked, and on and on.) There's also a shininess factor - when something is new and shiny, people may give good feedback, developers crank out great stuff, but once the money's been shoveled in, bloat happens, as well as a push to mediocrity.

• Issue with updation of communication channel

Hi Experts,
I have configured a JMS to Proxy scenario in XI system. i have changed the "Queue name" parameter in sender communication channel for the JMS adapter. the new Queue name is not being used by the interface.
when i monitor the messages for the this interface, i found that system is still using the Old Queue name.
can you please suggest a way to resolve this issue.
-Kaushik

Hi,
I am not sure if this resolves the issue.
Stop the channel using RWB>Adapter Engine>Communication Channel Monitoring
Identify your JMS sender Communication channel and stop it.
Go to ID and reedit this channel and activate.
Comeback to previous Communication Channel Monitoring check the status of activated Communication Channel (start it if it is still in stopped mode)

Hi Ravi,
in the cache connectivity test, all the components are in GREEN color (Enterprise Service Repository, Integration directory, Integration server - ABAP, , mapping runtime on central adapter engine, adapter engine, mapping runtime) . Only central adapter engine is in yellow color and the message says:

mmm it seems I spoke too quickly, things seems to work as expected now. I don't know what I did change since.
I've retested between two cards: it seems also ok except 2 strange things:
- when CAN2 is physically connected on PC2, it seems CAN1 that listens instead (as if CAN1 was connected)
- trames sent from CAN0 and CAN1 on PC1 seems to be repeated from IXXAT card: they are returning respectively on CAN1 and CAN0.
Sorry, no idea on these two. As for the first one, what happens if you connect CAN1 to CAN2 on PC2 (no connetion to PC1)? I don't know anything about the IXXAT card. Is there some switch that internally bridges the two ports?

Praveen,
You need to import SAP BASIS Software Component Version into Integration Repository.
You need to download it from service market place.
https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000001943&_EVENT=SEARCH&HIDE=&SEARCH_SPAT=X&SEARCH_BPAT=X&SEARCH_CD=X&SEARCH_P=X&SEARCH_PV=X&SEARCH_C=X&SEARCH_CV=X&SEARCH_TA=&SEARCH_V=&HIDE_EXPERT_SEARCH=X&SEARCH_MAX_RESULT=20
In Search Term Enter "SAP BASIS <version>".
Now click on XI CONTENT SAP_BASIS 7.00 -
> Database independent -
> SAPBASIS13_0-20000888.ZIP Just save this file on your machine and unzip it.
Now put this in the import directory: \usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\global\xi\repository_server\import\
In IR, TOOLS ---> Import design objects and import it.

I am not Getting any error, the mapping is successfully ACTIVATED. But in the Receiver field i am Getting Null as output , the DB lookup which i have mentioned is not connecting to the Database and executing and fetching the query. Just inthe receiver field its througing the Null valuse. The Required Value is not fetched by using the communication channel.
I am getting the above error when i try to TEST THE MAPPING in IR.

As i told before i have tested the interface, its not showing any error, its Activated and throwing Null as output.
Its not fetching the value from database. In CC Monitoring also the adapter is in Green Status. No error over there. Its throwing the output as Null (Default value in the code.)
Below is the connection parameter i have used:
DRIVER:com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
CONNECTION : jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<IP>:1433;DatabaseName=test_db
But in the blog

If u can see properly, he has mentioed some extra parameters in the JDBC Connection Parameters.
But the screenshot is not proper so i am not able to see the querry he has used in Connection parameters.
Please help
Could anyone tell how to write the Select statement in Connection Parameter for Adapter as given (Partialy in screenshot in BLOG)?

• Configuration Wizard in ID is not using existing Communication Channel

Hi,
I am using PI 7.1.
I created a Communication channel FileSenderCC for a Business System Sys_Sample_One_D with Party as blank.
After creating i can see below object in the list of communication channels in the left pane.
|Sys_Sample_One_D|FileSenderCC
After this when i use Menu: Tools -> Configuration Wizard -> Internal Communication, to configure the scenrio, I selected the Business System Sys_Sample_One_D and Adapter Type "File", and proceed, while selecting the sender communicaiton channel, it cannot find the FileSenderCC that i created.
If i manually enter FileSenderCC, and complete the scenario, it is creating a new communication channel with the samename, and not using the exisitng one.
After that i see two communication channels in the left pane.
|Sys_Sample_One_D|FileSenderCC
*|Sys_Sample_One_D|FileSenderCC
does this happen in PI 7.1 only, because when i worked in 7.0 long time back, i dont think i got this issue.

Hi,
I had the same issue on PI 7.1, it looks like a bug, but I found no note about it.
I think you should open an OSS message for this.

• Runtime Update of Communication Channel Password

I posted this question in the Security Forum as well as here since I was not sure which was appropriate.
We have a new application, Password Vault, where the company would like to change all passwords on a daily basis. Password Vault has a Java API that will allow me to obtain the password for a specific account. What I would like to know is whether there is a way in PI to create a module that will be called by the Communication Channle when it requires the password which will aloow me to dynamically pass the password to the Communication Channel.
In short, I would like to step in front of all runtime password requests and push the current password to the Communication Channel.
Is this possible and/or where can I go to find more information?

Ok, we have conceded that until SAP makes a change that allows some sort of hook into the Communication Channel so that we can handle the password we will not be able to implement a "pull" type of change.
We have code to extract and log Configuration Scenarios, Communications Channels and Interface Determinations. We also have some code modeled after what Bill Li has done to create a Change List and modify the Communication Channel.
Mostly we need to be able to set a Communication Channel Inactive/Active and change the password.
The part we are struggling with is the role of the Restricted Communication Channel and how to get the information from and existing Communication Channel into the Restricted Communication Channel which is the only thing we can add to the Change List.
It seems like there should be some relatively simple way to do the following:
1. Retrieve a Communication Channel using the API
2. Build a Restricted Communication Channel object with all of the information in the Communication Channel...we know the password is always returned as null and can handle that issue.
3. Modify whatever value we want modified
4. Create a Change List
5. Add the Restricted Communication Channel to the Change List
6. Activate the Change List.
We have no real problems with any of the above except for 2.. How do we build a complete Restricted Communication Channel from the retrieved Communication Channel?

• Adapter Engine Name is not displayed in Communication channel

Hi All,
In Integration Directory -- Service without party -- Business system -- communication channel -- when we create new communication channel then go ahead selecting File , JDBC, Mail adapter. ADAPTER ENGINE IS DISPLAYED BLANK.
Please let me know your valuable inputs.

I have performed all the above given instructions, but the issue is still pending.
Steps followed :
1. Performed all the steps in RZ70 as instructed.
2.Downloaded the TPZ file and assigned it in the required path
3.Adapter Engine is already assigned in the SLD.
Can you let me know, whether to assign hostname, IPaddress or fully qualified domain name in the exchange profile( where exactly in JAVA stack and ABAP stack)
Kindly request you to provide further inputs.
Thanks for your valuable inputs

Perosnally, I would recommend setting a trace and letting the system telling you exactly why.
Traces are used to analyze runtime errors. By setting a specific trace level for specific locations, you can analyze the behavior of individual code segments at class and method level. This is done with the help of the log configurator service:
Log onto the Java Admin Console
 Services
 Log Configurator
 Locations
 Choose the location (Java package) and the tracing level (severity)
(for example, com.sap.aii.adapter.file)
 Root Location > com > sap > aii > File
 Set the severity and choose Copy Severity to Subtree
