DNS changed and Mail, MSN, Jabber don't connect :S (but Internet runs well)
First of all, sorry for my english, i'm spanish .
My connection to internet was like this (now i've changed)
iMac ->(wifi)-> router1 ->(ethernet)-> router2 -> Internet.
I always used the OpenDNS (208.67.220.220/208.67.222.222) and all my applications connect to internet well.
Two days ago I read about the GoogleDNS (the new service), that they are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, so i changed my DNS in the router1 and in the iMac.
It goes really well for two hours. Then, when I rebooted my iMac many services like Mail (IMAP and POP), MSN, Jabber... didn't connect saying that "there is no connection" or "connection refused", but I had internet (and nslookup went well) so safari, skype, spotify... went well and at full speed.
When it was driving me mad I returned to OpenDNS... but they didn't connect yet.
Now, i am connected to the primary router via ethernet, and my iMac has the OpenDNS... and I don't know why, but it still doesn't connect.
Do you have any suggestion? Do you want any log?.

You'll need to connect it to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it. If iTunes asks you for this passcode before it will let you proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.

Some of my Apps don't connect to the internet. For example, NY Times Web App, says it can't connect. But when I access it from Safari it does (it is a web site and the App just accesses it form the desktop of the IPAD). I have a number of Apps like this. I've removed and reinstalled and it doesn't help. Please help!

If it is WEP, one of the problems is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP. In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa. Wi-Fi has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.197.32 and will not be able to connect to the Internet. How do you conncect the internet? I'm trying to hook up my wi-fi after It got screwed up somehow. Thanks! Greg

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Sorry we have no info.. so description of the problem..
Are you using wireless? If so on what? Do you have a TC?
Is this a new TC and failed to setup correctly? Or you have TC or some other wireless router that has been working fine and now failed?
Plug in by ethernet? Does it now work?
Reboot the TC.. Does it now work?
Reboot the whole network.. restart in order.. modem.. router.. TC.. whatever other network equipment.. clients.
Do some clients work and others fail?
Press and hold reset on the TC. Redo the setup.. change the TC setup to fixed channels and SMB names.
We cannot give specific answers to such vague faults. -

Is there a way to load and show the front panel of a vi but NOT run it? I am starting with the AsynchronousCallAndForget.vi from the example finder and inserted an invoke node with the FP Open method call prior to the Start Asynchronous Call node. The vi I am loading has the "Run when opened" unchecked and the menu bar IS visible so I can manually click the run arrow. Thanks!

Go to Solution.Why are you using the Async call? If you simply open the VI reference, then call the FP.Open method this works fine. You can then call the VI run method with Wait Until Done set to false if you wish to run it Asynchronously, this is how we did it in ye olde days before we had this new fangled "Start Asynchronous Call" stuff.

Your mail is housed on the mail server. The device attempts to update, and because you are not connected to the internet, you cannot access it. You need an active data connection to deal with mail.

hello. My classic applications (browsers, QuickTime) don't connect to the internet, although all extensions are loaded during classic startup, and tiger is connected to the net. Since I can't find anything on this in Mac Help, I'd be grateful for help on this.

Titanium PowerBook G4 / 1,67 MHz Mac OS X (10.4.5)how do you connect to the net . if its by DSL/cable go to the apple menu/control pannel/tcp/ip and select the builtin ethernet or ic could just say ethernet and select using DHCP server but before you do the above try this first go in to the system folder and go in to the prefrence folder and copy the tcp/ip pref file and the internet prefrence file to the desk top and then deleat the ones in the prefrence folder and reboot.

Up until about a week ago I have not had a single internet connectivity problem. Then, all of the sudden airport will no longer connect and it keeps telling me that "Airport has self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet." I did not change any settings, I didn't touch anything and all of the sudden it just will not connect anymore. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!:)
These steps often sort out this problem...
System Preferences > Network
Select the AirPort from the left hand side
Click on the Locations combo box and select Edit Locations...
Click on + to add a new location, call it "Home" (or anything else you prefer)
Click on Advanced
Select the AirPort tab and enter your network name
Select TCP/IP tab.
Configure IPv4 Using DHCP
Now click on Renew DHCP Lease. After a few seconds you should get an IP address (probably 192.168.x.x)
Click on Proxies tab.
Select Auto Proxy Discovery and Use Passive FTP
Click on OK and Apply, etc.

once again I am trying to download the new update 8.1.3 and it says I am not connected to the Internet which I am. Any suggestions ?
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad or your router?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Even though you are connected to the Internet, sometimes resetting your router can help. It's very easy to do. Just unplug it for about 30 seconds, plug it back in and let it start up. -
I cannot get my iMac with built-in airport wi-fi to allow internet connections to Nook and PS3. The devices access the network, but internet connection fails. Internet sharing is enabled, network security (WEP, WPA) is disabled. What to check next?
On an additional note, I've purchased a wireless router and everything connected on the first attempt. It just vexes me that the built-in wireless isn't working as a router. Is this another example of "Mac only plays with Mac"?

Using a cradle with the Tungsten E2? Tried bypassing the cradle and just use the hotsync cable? Tried a different computer yet? Somehow, the PC is having problems getting a signal from the device. I assume you have the laptop charger plugged into the laptop during this? Not going through a docking station or port-replicator.
One crazy thing you can try is unplug the charger from your laptop, remove the battery from the laptop and leave it out for like 10mins and put it back in and reboot the laptop. This should not cause side effects but still contact your OEM to make sure that nothing else is needed after leaving the battery out for extended period of time. Keep me posted.
