DNS Error when adding another laptop to wireless router

I have a laptop running Vista networked to my wireless router.  I want to add another laptop running XP to the network via a Belkin Wireless NIC.  It makes the connection OK, but when I launch IE it returns "Cannot find server or DNS Error" and does not load the web page regardless of which site I try to connect to.  I have tried porting the IE software from the Vista laptop and that did not work.  I tried to connect to the Verizon router address using an Ethernet cable, but it could not access the router.  I downloaded the Inhome Agent and used the software from it to no avail.  I have been on the phone several times with Verizon to verify the IE Options setttings and procedures, but they are not able to help.  I have no problem accessing the Internet from a public WiFi site.  I'm sure it is something simple to fix.  Anyone have a solution?

You should verify your ip configuration.  To do so go to the command prompt:
It can be found under start, then type run
or
Click start
programs
accessories
command prompt
now type: ipconfig /all |more
Look for your wireless card and reply back with the following:
 IP Address
 Subnet Mask
 Default Gateway
 DHCP Server
 DNS Servers

  • Library error when adding contact or when logging in

    The messenger server has a replica of the partition holding the users.
    It's an OES 2 sp2 server, and the GW Messenger is 2.04.
    Sometimes we see an error that says 'Library error' when adding a contact, or it doesn't show all users that exists with the search parameter given.
    We also sporadically see a 'Library error' when some users log in to it.
    Looking in the log I see an error that says 0xAE16 when users log in fails.
    I can find the 0xAE11 error in the TID's but not the 0xAE16, I did find an article on the forums, mentioning this problem http://forums.novell.com/novell-prod...or-server.html, they mention memory problems, so it seems to me there is a bug that needs fixing.

    I've disabled the '/diruseralias-"Internet EMail Address"' setting that was set up in the strtup.ma and strtup.aa scripts.
    I've also, for now at least, chosen another replica.
    I haven't seen the errors yet, so here's hoping...

  • Error when adding Essbase server...

    Hi,
    I installed Hyperion System 9.3.1 in my development machine and encounter the following error when adding a Essbase server in AAS for the first time.
    Error: 1042017: Network error: The client or server timed out waiting to receive data using TCP/IP. Check network connections. Increase the NetRetryCount and/or NetDelay values in the ESSBASE.CFG file. Update this file on both client and server. Restart the client and try again.
    I used the default user "admin" and password "password". I used my servername:10080 as the server name. I hope I am right.
    Why is this happening? I tried changing netdelay settings but still get the same. Is this something else? Does this have anything to do with my TCP/IP settings? I am installing this on a virtual PC.
    I couldn't find an answer in previous posts.
    regards
    h

    The things that come to mind:
    The server name you use should be the name of the virtual PC, not the machine it's running on. Also, depending on the settings for the Virtual PC environment, you may have to change the network options to allow it to be visible to the network, be in the right domain, etc...
    The above may or may not get you any closer, the error message itself is just saying it can't receive a response from the server, which means the server never got the request or can't send a response back.
    Good Luck,

  • DNS Error when I open IE

    I have a computer that works fine and connects to the internet when I am on the LAN at work.  All TCP/IP settings are set to obtain IP and DNS automatically.
    When I try to use it at home on my DSL it just give a DNS error when I try to open IE.
    I am baffled.  I even tried to manually configure my IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS server but still can't get it to open.  The network icon shows it is connected but it only receives packets, it doesn't send any.
    Any ideas?

    What equipment are you using to connect to the internet?

  • HT4259 When a Netgear N 300 wireless router is the base station for my network, what steps do I take to add AirPort Express 802.11n as an network extender?

    When a Netgear N 300 wireless router is the base station for my network, what steps do I take to add AirPort Express 802.11n as an network extender?

    You don't have to do anything to the netgear.. the Express cannot wirelessly extend non-apple networks. You must plug the Express in by ethernet and create a new wireless network.. this can be the same name (SSID) and security as the netgear so it can become a roaming network.

  • WRT110 DNS Error when wireless on Laptop

    I have a Dell laptop with both the Intel pro-set wireless connection and the standard microsoft windows wireless software is also on board. I just replaced my old wr54 (whatever its called) with the WRT110 and the hardwired connection works fine. The wireless card shows a signal is found but just before it seems my home, or any other, page is found, I get a DNS error. I am only partially computer literate, so if someone knows the steps to take and what to change, that would be great. (Someone told me it may be an IP address issue, but I don't know how to address that....). Thanks in advance.....
    Brent

    What exactly is happening are you not able to get the DNS address?? If yes try assigning the ip address.

  • DNS Error when trying to connect xbox360 to WRT54G wireless network, Please help!!

    I recently purchased a new router (WRT54G Ver.6) and the initial setup went well. however, when I try to connect my xbox 360 to this network, the DNS does not resolve and it fails every time. what should I do?

    Hi…..
        Well in this case first make sure whether the computers which are connected [wired or wireless] to the router are able to get online.
    If the computers are not able to get online through the router then you will have to configure the router. And if the computers are able to get online then in order to resolve the DNS Error in order to get the X-Box360 working you can assign Static DNS Address to the X-Box
    The Static DNS Address you can use can be 206.13.29.12 and 206.13.30.12

    * TableSorter is a decorator for TableModels; adding sorting
    * functionality to a supplied TableModel. TableSorter does
    * not store or copy the data in its TableModel; instead it maintains
    * a map from the row indexes of the view to the row indexes of the
    * model. As requests are made of the sorter (like getValueAt(row, col))
    * they are passed to the underlying model after the row numbers
    * have been translated via the internal mapping array. This way,
    * the TableSorter appears to hold another copy of the table
    * with the rows in a different order.
    * <p/>
    * TableSorter registers itself as a listener to the underlying model,
    * just as the JTable itself would. Events recieved from the model
    * are examined, sometimes manipulated (typically widened), and then
    * passed on to the TableSorter's listeners (typically the JTable).
    * If a change to the model has invalidated the order of TableSorter's
    * rows, a note of this is made and the sorter will resort the
    * rows the next time a value is requested.
    * <p/>
    * When the tableHeader property is set, either by using the
    * setTableHeader() method or the two argument constructor, the
    * table header may be used as a complete UI for TableSorter.
    * The default renderer of the tableHeader is decorated with a renderer
    * that indicates the sorting status of each column. In addition,
    * a mouse listener is installed with the following behavior:
    * <ul>
    * <li>
    * Mouse-click: Clears the sorting status of all other columns
    * and advances the sorting status of that column through three
    * values: {NOT_SORTED, ASCENDING, DESCENDING} (then back to
    * NOT_SORTED again).
    * <li>
    * SHIFT-mouse-click: Clears the sorting status of all other columns
    * and cycles the sorting status of the column through the same
    * three values, in the opposite order: {NOT_SORTED, DESCENDING, ASCENDING}.
    * <li>
    * CONTROL-mouse-click and CONTROL-SHIFT-mouse-click: as above except
    * that the changes to the column do not cancel the statuses of columns
    * that are already sorting - giving a way to initiate a compound
    * sort.
    * </ul>
    * <p/>
    * This is a long overdue rewrite of a class of the same name that
    * first appeared in the swing table demos in 1997.

    The code you posted doesn't help us at all. Its just a duplicate of the code from the tutorial. The custom code is what you have written. For example do you update the TableModel from the Event Thread? Do you update the SortModel or the DefaultTableModel? If you actually provide your test code and somebody has already downloaded the sort classes, then maybe they will test your code against the classes. But I doubt if people will download the sort classes and create a test program just to see if they can duplicate your results (at least I know I'm not about to).

  • MMM 1064 Error when adding pluggable mapping

    OWB ver 11.2.0.1
    9802120 patch has been applied, but not exactly which "version"
    Created a standalone pluggable mapping. It is pretty basic: Source table -> Filter ->Aggregator -> Subquery Filter -> Output Signature.
    When I attempt to add the pluggable mapping to an existing mapping (either by dragging the PM from the Projects Navigator, or going through the Component Palette), I get the following error:
    MMM 1064: Value 98F36D...E390EC not valid in domain IN_MATCHING_ATTRIBUTE
    Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Sorry for the delay, but another fire sprang up.
    I created a pluggable mapping consisting of a table and filter and was able to drop it onto another mapping (I didn't go further and try and connect it). Went back to the pluggable mapping, deleted the lines from the filter to the output signature, and added the aggregate and sub-query filter. I get the error when the revised pluggable mapping is dropped onto another mapping.
    For grins, I got rid of the sub-query (it was an IN type), and did what I wanted "old-school" - brought in a second instance of the table, and joined it to the aggregation. I was able to add this version to a mapping.
    Client hasn't applied the 11.2.0.2 patch, so I am guessing it is something fixed in the patch.

  • Error when adding a NAV attribute to 0MAT_PLANT

    Hello People
    I have created a YTEST info object with TEXTS and want to have it as navigational atribute to the 0MAT_PLANT info object. But when I change the attribute to NAV and try to activate it, it gives me the following errors.
    1. Activation of Objects with Type InfoObject
    2. Internal Activation (InfoObject )
    3. Error when activating InfoObject 0MAT_PLANT
    Again when I change it back to DISPLAY it lets me activate the 0MAT_PLANT info object. What am i doing wrong? Am I creating the TEST IO wrong? Please give the all the steps of creating a text info object and adding it as a NAV attr to another info object.
    Thanks.

    Hi Shree,
    This field on R/3 is in Table MARC(keyfields:MATNR and Werks) and if i need to get it to 0material which is based on Table MARA(Keyfield:MATNR).I cannot add it to 0material-attr  on R/3 as the keyfield only MATNR matches.
    Thats the reason i went with adding this field to 0material_plant_attr and create d an infoobject in BW and trying to make it as Nav Attr.
    thanks

  • I can't connect to Internet anymore (WIFI or Ethernet). This was working perfectly before. I don't get a proper IP address from my ADSL box and it seems there is a DNS error when accessing the Internet.

    I have an issue with my MacBook pro (MAC OS X 10.8.3) when trying to access Internet. I am behind an ADSL box (Orange). I have a PC on the same LAN which accesses Internet perfectly via the same Box.
    On the MAC, I have tried WIFI and Ethernet. And have same issue on both. I have checked the IP address (the ADSL box is a DHCP server) but the MAC doesn't get a proper IP and network mask I tried a manual IP address setup and it doesn't get better. I have setup the DNS servers for my Internet provider, but I get DNS error. I have tried 2 Internet browsers (Chrome and Safari), both have the same issue.
    I tried to put my MAC on a different ADSL box (I have 2 acccesses with 2 providers at home) and get the same issue.
    I also noticed a havy CPU load on the mDNSResponder process (at least 30%). I have restarted it, but no improvement.
    Last, I have repared the permissions.
    From those trials, it seems that the problem is on the Mac side. But I am completelly without any new idea, so I need help
    Thanks

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • WRT54G2 DNS errors when connecting online to PS3... at a loss for ideas...

    Im having dns problems ever since PSN went back online and i cannot connect to the internet with my PS3 or log onto PSN. At first i would get dropped as soon i joined an online game, and it was running very slowly, but now it wont connect at all.
    Wired works perfectly. Wireless wont work.
    If i use automatic setup then the ip address fails.
    If i manually set everything then the ip address passes but the internet connection fails and i get a dns error.
    Signal strength is 100% and i have a Linksys WRT54G2 router. (worked perfect 2+ years until this week)
    I have Roadrunner cable modem.
    I did ipconfig/all and enetered all numbers from there and didnt work.
    I used standard dns like google and such and those didnt work.
    Im seriously at a loss for ideas. Is my router broken? Please can anyone help?

    I don't think it's necessarily your router. I've encountered the same problem on my WRT54GC and I used OpenDNS. But it gave me all sorts of problems with different websites so I had to take it out and use manual DNS. I used all sorts of combinations through until I got 4.2.2.2  to work.
    EDIT: also, try going in to your router's setup page and click Status. Take note of the DNS values and use those in setting up your PS3.

  • TableAdapter Configuration Wizard gives error when adding new TableAdapter

    Hi,
    I recently downloaded and installed the ODT for visual studio on my computer. I am running VS2008 on Windows 7 64-bit. I am able to create an ODP.NET connection to the Oracle XE 10.2g instance that is running on my computer with no problems and use that connection to browse the database. When I add a DataSet to my project, and start adding TableAdapters to the DataSet, I am getting errors. In an attempt to figure out what the problem is, I have followed various scenarios. I will describe each scenario, and what the end result is, and then after I have described them all, I will explain what I think the problem might be. Here are the different scenarios I have used:
    Scenario 1:
    From the Server Explorer, highlight ALL of the tables in my schema and drag them to the designer (all table adapters are added with no issues). I can add additional queries to each of the TableAdapters and then change the additional queries by right clicking and choosing "Configure". This all works with no issues. However, on certain TableAdapters, if I try to modify the primary query (Fill,GetData()), I can open the query editor just fine, change various settings, etc, but when I click on "Finish" I get the following error:
    Configure TableAdapter TABLENAME failed.
    Index was outside the bounds of the array.
    Scenario 2:
    From the Server Explorer, drag tables from my schema onto the designer one at a time. Some tables get added just fine, but for the rest of them, I get the following error:
    Failed to merge object(s).
    Index was outside the bounds of the array.
    Scenario 3:
    On the Dataset Designer, add tables one at a time by right clicking and choosing "Add -> TableAdapter" and then using SQL to define the query for each table. Some tables get added just fine, but for the rest of them, I get the following error:
    Failed to add TableAdapter.
    Index was outside the bounds of the array.
    Ok... now that I have described all of the different scenarios, I will explain what I think the problem is, and why. Based on my research, I believe the underlying problem has to do with Foreign Key Constraints on the various tables. While working on Scenarios 2 & 3, the same exact tables worked just fine in both scenarios. When I started looking at the definitions for the tables in my schema, it turns out that all of the tables that failed had foreign key constraints defined. When I remove the FK constraints from a table, I am then able to add it to my dataset and change the default query with no problems. My original application used the System.Data.OracleClient provided by Microsoft. When adding my tableadapters using the microsoft data provider, the FK relations are automatically generated for me in the designer, but not with the Oracle Data Provider
    I would be happy to provide you with the DDL that I used for creating my schema (it is not very big) if needed.
    Thanks,
    Jim
