DNS migration - final days to comply

Business Catalyst is in the final stages of completing the migration to Amazon Web Services. As part of this project, we are working on decommissioning the old datacenters and removing the DNS proxy put in place more than 7 months ago, at the beginning of May.
If you have not yet migrated your website until now you are now seeing a pop-up window in the front end of your website, prompting you to migrate update your DNS to the new settings.
Failure to conduct this change in the next 10 days will lead to your website becoming permanently unavailable.
Updating your DNS
Sites with DNS hosted on a 3rd party domain registrar (e.g. GoDaddy) must update their DNS records to point to one of the the new data center IP addresses. The legacy data center IP address will be decommissioned on June 20th, at which time if you have not updated your DNS records, your sites and hosted email will no longer function. Please update your 3rd party registrar info to our new IP addresses and create SPF records for each domain - you can use either of the two new IP addresses for your region when changing your DNS records:
           Europe                           54.246.209.120               or               54.246.209.119
           United States                           54.236.190.114               or               54.236.189.64
           Australia                           54.252.148.183               or               54.252.148.191
For detailed instructions please refer to this page on the official migration website.
If you have questions please do not hesitate to reach out for help with this final task in the migration.

  • FA Cup final day is here!!

    Good afternoon everyone,
The FA Cup final is now upon us!  Who are you rooting for?  I'm sure a lot of footy fans would go for Arsenal but I personally will be cheering on the underdog.  Football is a funny old game so you never know
Arsenal V Aston Villa FA Cup Preview
I've also heard in recent times that the FA Cup has lost it's magic somewhat.  Do you think this is due to the "new Wembley" only being opened since 2007 and the "old Wembley" having all those years of FA Cup action going back as far as 1923?  Oh, the power of Google
The kick off time has also been changed to 17:30 instead of what was the normal 15:00.  What does everyone think about the time change?  Feel free to join in and let me know your thoughts!  That's if you're not heading down the pub as most fans do on FA Cup final day.  Sadly, I'll be in the minority today but someone has to stay here and keep you guys company!
    Cheers,
    Robbie

  • DNS migration

    hi,
im doing dns migration from one set of servers to other set of servers.
dns takes about 24 hrs for TLDs(com. etc) zones and about 48 to 72 hrs for gTLDs(co.uk etc.). to avoid any kind of outage during this time - can I leave both servers as authoratative servers? will it avoid any kinda outage?

    Hi,
If I understand your question accuratly then the answer is yes.  As long as the cached records will resolve you should have no issue. Once expired you can safely decomission the original set of nameservers.

  • DNS migrated- can see webpage on all computers except two iMacs w/different

The webhost for our website had a hardware failure a couple of days ago, and migrated to a different server. Within hours, I could see the website on my pc at work (Firefox) and my friend could see it on her pc w/IE. But at home, no matter how many times I reset Safari, or restarted my iMac (10.4.8), I got the error page from the webhost- for over 30 hours. It finally came up when I got up at 6:30 this morning, then another friend emailed me and said he couldn't get the website (at 11:00 a.m. this morning) using a four year old eMac with Internet Explorer- even after clearing the cache. Is this just a Mac thing?

It has nothing to do with your Mac, but your ISP's DNS servers.
All DNS servers will cache DNS data and serve requests from the cache. The zone file will include a tag that tells DNS servers how long to cache the data for.
What you're experiencing is most likely an effect of that cache. For example, if your DNS is set to cache for one day and user A performs an initial lookup via ISP A's DNS server at 11:59pm then all subsequent requests to the same DNS server will return the same result for the next 24 hours. Even if you change the zone file at 12:00am the ISP's DNS server believes it has a valid data and will return the same result until the 24 hour timeout has expired.
In the meantime if User B performs an initial lookup via ISP B's DNS server at 12:01am he'll get the new zone data with the new address.
This conflict (where two different servers claim to have valid responses that are different) is known as the DNS propogation delay and it's largely out of your control since it's affected by servers outside of your domain.
The only thing you can do is to lower the timeout for your zone so that remote servers cache the data for shorter periods of time, with the corresponding increase in traffic to your DNS servers since the ISP's DNS servers will make more frequent requests for your zone data, even if it hasn't changed.

  • Domain Controller, DHCP, DNS Migration from 2008 r2 to 2012 Essentials

I would like to migrate Domain Controller, DHCP, and DNS functions to a new 2012 Essentials server in a 2008 r2 domain.  I would like  the 2008 r2 server to remain as applications server.  Is it possible to do this?  I've seen in TechNet
a reference to this type of migration, but am concerned about the reference that after 21 days the 2008 will shut down.  Is it that the server will shut down or the Domain Controller function on the 2008 will shut down? I will need the 2008 setup as is
for our application server, so I want to be sure that the migration will not interfer with that.

As long as your existing server is not also an SBS or other Essentials server, it'll be fine. The shutdown after 21 days occurs when multiple SBS or Essentials servers are on the same domain.

  • UNIX DNS Migration to Windows AD DNS

    Hello,
We are planning to Upgrade our AD before that our Root Domain DNS including _msdcs is on Solaris Bind.
We need to Migrate _msdcs, root DNS to Windows based AD integrated DNS. we have already added both Zones as secondary into Windows DNS where AD is configured.  Now  We need to make transferred _msdcs and root DNS zone as primary and Windows DNS
should transfer update to Solaris DNS
what changes/configuration we need to do before making those Zone as primary? do we need to change SOA or anything
Also, we have other zones in Solaris for those domain we are not using any Active directory.  those domain zones also we added into Windows DNS, for those zone what changes/configuration required to make primary and transfer update to solaris DNS till
we remove all Solaris DNS IP from Servers side?
Here also do we need to change SOA or anything?
Is there any complete migration steps or video?
    Regards,
    Swapnil
    Regards, Swapnil Jain

    Hi,
Maybe i am missinterpreting your post, but If you have an AD environment set you already had _msdcs zone as AD integrated, when you created the first domain controller assuming this is 2008 or later OS. Along with this zone you have the AD domain zone
which is as well AD integated. So i am not sure how you can get same zone as AD-integrated again since AD will complain the zones(s) already exist.
I have done migration from Linux bind to Windows but not for other directory service integrated zone and the process was like you mentioned by seconding teh zones in windows then make them primary and ad-integrated and secondary on linux.
I believe you will have to export or make an inventiory of the 2 zones and then create any missing / required records.
    Maybe others have better suggestions.
    Hope it helps.

  • Migrate Final Cut Server to Cantemo Portal

If you want to migrate your existing Final Cut Server installation to a more modern MAM which supports FCP7, FCPX and other NLEs, you can use the CP Migration Tool, which you can find here: http://moosystems.com/products/moofs-migration-tool/
    Hope this helps,

    Hello Nickolas,
I'm very interested on this transfer scripts. I have though one quick questing regarding annotations.
Does this transfer scripts also transfers Markers (or subclips) from FCP to Final Cut Studio and vice-versa (transfer annotations from Final Cut Server to FCP)?
If this does not do this, do you have any solution for transferring annotations to FCP as markers/subclips when editors drags assets to bins/timelines?
Also, Andre if I'm not mistaken you also have something similar to this, right?
    Cheers,

  • DNS updates - final chance to update your Dublin sites and avoid downtime

    Hi everybody,
It's been over one month from the migration of our European datacenter, and the deadline for changing your DNS settings is on August 31st. Failure to change your DNS settings will result in downtime for your websites.
    Europe
    54.246.209.120
    or
    54.246.209.119
    United States
    54.236.190.114
    or
    54.236.189.64
    Australia
    54.252.148.183
    or
    54.252.148.191
For detailed instructions please refer to this page on the official migration website.Update your SPF (TXT) records>If your DNS is hosted externally, you are also required to update your Sender Policy Framework (SPF) TXT setup, to make sure emails are reaching customers inboxes. There are two options in this case:
If the domain has no SPF or TXT record defined, you should add one with the following value: "v=spf1 mx include:worldsecuresystems.com ~all"
If the domain already has an SPF record, you need to include the following value: "include:worldsecuresystems.com"
For detailed instructions about SPF and TXT records, please read this article. If you are unable to find the necessary tool to do so, please contact your domain registrar.
Check if your sites have all been migrated
Once logged in to your Partner Portal you will notice on the left menu a new entry, called Migration Status. This is where you need to enter to get all your detailed migration information.Once you access the page you will see a list of your sites split by datacenters, and you can check each domain by pressing the "Check" button on it's right.Once you check the domains, you will see an updated page with different color flags. This will allow you to see which domains need your attention and which do not need anything done. The flags also have a description once you hover your mouse cursor over them, but the meaning is as follows:
A red flag appears when a domain still points to the old datacenters and needs to be updated according to the instructions on the migration website.
"N / A" will appear when either is a domain that no longer exists, one that has been unreachable to our tools, or that is no longer hosted on BC but has remained so in our system.
Once you update your DNS and, if needed, your SPF(TXT) records, the page will have a different look yet again.

Thank you Magda, is there many left to do?

  • ICal not indicating final day of event by a placing a dot in month view

I consider this to be a bug:
on my iPhone 5, in month view, when I input a multiple day event, there are dots everywhere indicating that something is occurring that day. However, the last day of a multiple-day event, no dot appers.
    For example:
If I have an event from Friday at 8am to Monday at 5pm, all days except Monday are dotted. This is clearly not functioning as intended.

  • Simple question, finding last weeks final day (saturday) .

How would I find the system date minus a week and then find the last day of that week. This would be for a weekly report so it would need sysdate so nothing would need to be inserted. It should be ran any given day of the work week.
So today is the 11/29/2007 last week would be 11/22/2007 but the last day of that week is 11/24/2007. 11/24/2007 is the date i would be looking for if it was ran today.
How would i get this date. It has be a little perplexed even though I know it should be simple. I look forward to learning a thing or two.

That's mighty well done ..not so mighty as it could be.
    Actually it is also NLS-dependant:
    SQL> alter session set nls_territory='russia';
    Session altered
    SQL> SELECT SYSDATE -to_number(to_char(SYSDATE,'D'))-1 AS EOTPW FROM DUAL;
    EOTPW

23.11.2007for finding the saturday of the previous week, the author can use 'IW' format model:
    SQL> alter session set nls_territory='russia';
    Session altered
    SQL> select trunc(sysdate,'iw')-2 last_saturday from dual;
    LAST_SATURDAY
    24.11.2007

  • Getting Ready for Migration - Problem with BT ID

    Hi,
I have read several e-mails from a recent thread on the forum which suggest that Migration of BT Yahoo e-mail accounts to the BT Mail service might resume sometime soon, and may even be completed by the end of April. Whether that will be so or not I guess we will have to wait and see. However, just in case, and for my account to be as ready as it can be, I need clarification of a particular potential problem.
I used to have two phone lines, let us say Line 1 and line 2. Now I only have one 'active' line (Line 1). Line 2 was cancelled a long time ago and my Broadband transferred to Line 1.
The above two lines had two seperate BT ID's (e-mail addresses). One being my Primary e-mail address which is one that ends @btinternet.com, but this remains the BT ID attached to Line 2 (the cancelled line).
The second BT ID, for Line 1, now my only line, has a User Name (e-mail address) which ends @gmail.com. The use of this e-mail address as the User Name was configured by a person on the BT Support Desk several years ago, when trying to resolve an issue at the time.
This morning I tried to change the User Name (e-mail address) on my BT ID for Line 1, so that it has the correct Primary e-mail address (ending @btinternet.com), I was unable to do so as the system said that this e-mail was already in use on another account (see above re cancelled line 2).
I can presently see no way that I can remove/delete/edit the account that covers the old cancelled line, so that it 'frees up' the use of my Primary e-mail address (@btinternet.com), enabling me to use it as the BT ID on my only remaining line (Line 1).
Is there a way I can cancel/delete/remove the now unused account? If not, is there a way for me to edit my Profile on Line 1, so that I can use my correct Primary e-mail as the ID, in preparation for the migration?
I apologise if this sound messy, but I want my account to be as 'clean' as possible, so that there are no potential problems when it finally comes to migration taking place.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Alan

    Hi,
First of all, thanks to whiskywheels for the well-intended suggestion. I appreciated the thought, but in my experience there is not a chance that just a phone call to BT Support whould have solved the problem. It was BT Phone Support that in part are responsible for creating the problem I now find myself with.
However, the reason for my coming back on this is to say that I had a phone call this afternoon from a MOD who I am absolutely certain was trying to be honest and helpful. The upshot of what she said is that no useful purpose would be served by changing my BT ID, as I only have one BT ID, not two as I intimated in my first e-mail in this thread (see message 1 of this thread for an explanation).
I do have two accounts (one live - with the only phone line I have) and (one dead and now unused, although I can still access its information in MyBT).
Following the MOD's advice, having nothing to this effect in writing, I will try not to quote her exactly (I don't want to fall foul of breaking any BT rules etc), but my understanding was that my Primary e-mail address, and several sub-accounts are all 'linked' to one BT ID she said I have, the one that ends [email protected] .
My reason for raising this in the first place was to be as prepared as I can be for Migration to BT Mail when it finally comes along.
I have however to admit to now being really confused. Maybe it is the case that I have confused what is an ID, and the use of e-mail addresses as an ID. What I mean by that is as follows:
Using the e-mail tab on the BT.Com homepage the login asks for BT ID or Email Address, and then a Password. If I then use the one BT ID I am told that I have, then subseqently add the current e-mail password, I get a message which says "We don't recognise your details. Please check you've entered your full email address and password correctly and try again."
When I try inputting my primary e-mail address (instead of the BT ID), and then the e-mail password as before (which did work ok this afternnon, but now will not) I currently get the predictable request to change my password. It's a nightmare to say the least, and fills me with no confidence whatsoever for when that fateful day of Migration finally arrives.
If the login that comes up after pressing the e-mail tab asks for a BT ID, why will that not work, if as the MOD says I only have one BT ID not the two that I had thought. I could go on, but I am sure you get the point, confusion reigns!
I would have much preferred that my BT ID was the same as my primary e-mail address, but the MOD in question said 'to the effect' that it was not necessary.
    Any thoughts or advice??
    Regards,
    AlanF

  • 3GB used in a day?

Hey, just wanted to ask something, or try and figure out how this happened.
I know I'm getting near my usage for the month, well I had 9.2GB after Thursday 26th and yesterday (Friday 27) I was trying not to use much in order to have some usage left on the final day to finish a download.
Anyway, I hardly used my internet yesterday. I watched maybe two videos at 360p that were about 6 minutes long and used a website that hardly had anything of detail on it (no streaming, few pictures etc) so I figured by my status on my wifi that I had used 1,000,000,000 at the end of the day which is 1GB? So I was expecting to see 8GB left for the month when I checked this morning. I had 6GB! I have no idea where this 2GB has gone, I had no downloads including no pc updates that could have used that much and as far as I know, no one had got acccess to my router (I'm the only one who knows my security code and it's not easy to guess)
Is it possible something/someone has got onto my internet or what? I definitetly didn't use 3GB in one day!

    Miss_Spuggz wrote:
The PC would have been used between 11am and 6pm and most of what I was doing was offline apart from what I stated. I made sure all programs like Steam and Last.fm were closed so they weren't using anything. I didn't stream music from the internet or use skype but checked facebook but for no more than 10 minutes.
And I'm hoping you know what I mean but you can check the status by right clicking the connection and selecting the status you can see your usage. I had disconnected or signed off my computer so it didn't reset at any time and the total of both the sent and recieved data came to around about 1GB.
I've used my internet before where I did a lot of video watching/searching etc and that didn't come to anywhere near 3GB so I don't have a clue where it was been used.
As I said, any program that could have used the slightest amount was closed when I got onto the PC.
I changed my encryption code anyway just to play safe.
Oh and I always check the date when I check as I noticed before that odd times it fails to update for the previous day and it was all correct. I did have an issue with the usage not being selectable one day this month but someone here provided me the direct link to it and all seemed good so I don't think that they failed to update a previous usage and just added it on.
Hi again. As Keith said, Steam is a p2p application and will also ne used as uploads as well as downloads.
I'm afraid that the wireless status you've been using is frankly not really of any use as a usage guide. It will reset if the computer is in standby, it will also show wireless activity that is not necessarily internet usage.

  • Good Issue date in the Sales order should 1 day difference from the MBDAT

For the particular customer, i want to have difference of 1 day in between the material availability date & good issue date in the schedule line. As per standard i can't made any changes in route and shipping point. Suppose material availability date in sales order is 22.09.2010 than my good issue date should be 23.09.2010 in the sales order. Any body having any idea how can we handle this case and what are things we need consider impact of this change.
    Regards,
    Srinivas.

    Hi,
I think you can easily enable this in Route scheduling /Delivery scheduling. You have to maintain the load time and pick/pack time as the total of 8hours. If this is done, then after material availability date, one more day will be added and the final day will be considered as GI date.
If you dont want to do this, you only have to enable this by Z by using a user exit where you can add one day to the MBDAT and update that in GI date.

  • Lion DNS Server not answering reverse IP queries

I just upgraded my server to 10.7 lion. Everything works great, except that the DNS sever will not answer queries about reverse IPs. Interestingly OD isn't affected yet though as I add more replicas I'm afraid that problems might start cropping up.
Queries for forward zones work fine. Reverse zones don't
I tried restoring from backup without luck.
    I found a directory called "/etc/dns.migrated-2011-08-06-002722" with the standard "loggingOptions.conf.apple", "options.conf.apple" and publicView.conf.apple.
I checked another server that was also upgraded to Lion, the DNS service is running (it only has the original DNS name of the server when it was set up) and it shows the same symptoms; forward zone works, reverse doesn't.
Has anyone seen this? Any tips for "fixing" my 200+ IP addr zones?

I've got this problem, too.  I've tried a few things that have not worked.
    1. importing a plist from another working (SL) DNS server.  The zones all get imported, including reverse; however, the reverse zones are missing their nameservers.  After I fill in all ~50 rev zone NS entries (it validates to make sure they are all filled in), it looses all of its data.  All that time I spent is wasted.
I've tried this on my backup server with a fresh lion/admintools install and again after software update
    2.  I've deleted /etc/named.conf and /etc/dns/db.* and placed a fresh named.conf in /etc
added one reverse zone, setting its NS.  same thing.
i was much happier with snow leopard, which is what i ordered from cdw, but they delivered these
