'dns' server failed to upgrade the Network Registrar configuration databases!!!
I have problem with installation the Network Registrar 7.2. According to the install log: "The 'dhcp' server failed to upgrade the Network Registrar configuration databases !!! See C:\NetworkRegistrar\Local\temp/dhcp_upgrade_status_log for details." The dhcp_upgrade_status_log is not found on my PC.
Do somebody familar with such problem?
Thank in advance.
Hi Dave,
Any luck on this thread? Where you able to find a work around on this problem? I am encountering also the same problem thou my OCR and Voting Disk are on raw partition.
I have done clean-up using the "dd" command and re-install CRS a couple of times and still with no luck...
Hope RAC gurus can help us on this.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Failed to initialize the network. Check if another instance of agent is
Out of the blue a small number of my Windows XP PCs get the following error
when logging in. Usually appears while login script page is on screen:-
Failed to initialize the network. Check if another instance of agent is
running. Contact the system administrator
Once XP has loaded ok I can manually start the Remote Management service.
Some PCs are intermittent and don't seem to get it again but a couple get it
every login. I removed the client and reinstalled. I removed the Remote
Management service and re-installed. Re-registered the PC Workstation but no
change for those who get it every day.
I did find this:-
Failed to initialize the network. Check if another instance of agent is
running. Contact the system administrator
Source: Remote Management Agent
Severity: Critical
Possible Cause: The Remote Management Agent is unable to bind to the IPX or
IP port that is being used for Remote Management service, or the ports are
being used by some other application running on the managed workstation.
Action: Uninstall any third-party remote control agent or remote control
application using these ports from the managed workstation.
Possible Cause: The protocol stack is corrupted.
Action: Reinstall the protocol stack.
Possible Cause: The managed workstation is not connected to the network, or
the network is down.
Action: Connect the managed workstation to the network.
I don't have any third party remote control agent installed and I've tried
the refresh of the IP protocol stack. Surprised this has started as we have
not made any changes to the network or software. We run NW Client 4.83sp1
and NW5.1 sp5.
Anybody else had this and cleared it completely?Further developments:
It looks like it's a fault in the nic. it's a Compaq NC3120 Fast Ethernet
card. It used to work, but since I've wiped out the card drivers that were
in use, I'm at HP's mercy. They are telling me that the card is no longer
under warranty and won't even tell me what driver to look for. Anything I've
managed to find has the exact same symptoms:
Client works, ping to IP addresses work, ping to www.yahoo.com (etc) doesn't
work, although winipcfg shows a DNS server the same as every other machine I
have.
Internet explorer doesn't work, even with IP addresses to local servers.
And of course, zenrc32 doesn't work, wsreg32 doesn't work.
Does anyone know of a way of making the NC3120 work on a win98 machine?
Shall I just go buy a couple dozen netcards from a more reputable company
than compaq?

Clean Access Server is unavailable on the network
I have an issue where randomly (about 4 or 5 users per week out of about 150 concurrent users) people are getting "Clean Access Server is unavailable on the network". We are using the full client v4.7.0. Certs and DNS look good, and everything works fine for most people. I read about the "work offline" bug, do you think that could cause this? Also, the CAM and CAS clocks are about 4 minutes apart, what kind of issues could this cause?
Thanks!I found it, it was described in TAC Case 614237013 w/ Nate Austin from RTP's AAA TAC. Bug ID # CSCta39899. Excerpts from the TAC case are below.
David Swafford.
=============================================================
Subject: SR 614237013 - NAC Agent - CCA Server Unavailable Repeatedly
Hi David,
My name is Nate Austin with Cisco TAC and I just accepted ownership of
your SR regarding NAC Appliance.
Looking at the logs I can see two way communication with the CAS so we
know it can reach it IP-wise. All the swiss communication is successful,
but it appears the HTTPS requests are the ones that are failing.
I have seen a couple things cause this:
1) Personal firewall blocking ports from CCA Agent.
2) More common - We use the same libraries as IE does for making HTTP
calls - If IE Offline Mode is enabled, this will cause the agent to
fail. Can you check in IE (especially if Firefox or Chrome are the users
default browser because they'd never check IE) and see if Offline Mode
is enabled. If so, disable it and try again?
Thanks,
Nate

Subject: Re: SR 614237013 - NAC Agent - CCA Server Unavailable Repeatedly
Sounds good.
FYI, if this does end up being the problem, there was a bug filed on
this CSCta39899, and in the 4.8 agent the agent will disable Offline
mode and re-enable it after it logs in.
Thanks,
Nate

The only thing I can identify as an issue is that your Windows Firewall is running and iTunes is not enabled in it, so this may be the source of your issue. Here is an article for you that will help you rectify this situation:

Hi, I'm running the following setup:

Virtual Box 4.2.16 r86992
Oracle Developer Days (don't know the version, just downloaded it)
SQL Developer 3.2.20.09

When I create a new connection with sql developer, with the same hostname / IP (192.168.56.101), Port 1521 (didn't change that) and SID orcl, basic connection type, it can't even connect, throwing the error mentioned in the subject:

I have looked at various threads in the forums here but I'm still stymied why the connection seems to be ok, yet sql developer has problems with it. If I create an ssh tunnel so sql developer only has to connect to localhost it works:
ssh -L 1521:192.168.56.101:1521 -l oracle 192.168.56.101

This may be of varoius reasons..
Is the database that you are connecting on the same PC?
You have specified Hostname: localhost.
If not please replace it with the IP of that server.
Else please check whether the database listener is started or not. if not please start the listener.
Check the SID by tnsping command.
Hope this will help you..

REP-56040: Server already exists in the network
Hi,
I use report server on a solaris 8.
When I stop/start it I get the error message:
REP-56040: Server already exists in the network
even when I properly shutdown it. I tried stopping the application server, killing all the process, the only solution I found was to reboot the server.
Do you know if their is a kind of lock file to erase?
Thanks,

Should my DNS server be talking to the internet?
I have the DNS service running on my OSX server in order to use Open Directory and server-based home folders. To use these server-based home folders I have to put the IP address of the server in the "DNS Server" entry on all the machines in Network Preferences.
Because the workstations here would seem to be going to the file server for DNS, do I need to open ports on my router or something so that the server can provide this info? I'm having some weird email issues with emails not arriving in a timely manner (inter-office via the internet, some arrive days late) and slow response times in Safari (page takes a while to start loading, and then loads very quickly once server found) so I'm wondering if this is what's causing it.
Any hints appreciated. Thanks! If you only use your own DNS on both server and LAN clients (you should with your setup of using the same domainname internally - a bit "ugly" but it works) you need to also setup any external services IP numbers such as any mail and web servers (and others).
It wasn't me who set it up like this, but I'm stuck with it! What do you mean when you say to "setup any external services IP numbers"? DO you mean I need to tell the server where to find the mail server so that it finds it more easily? Where do I put them? And would it just be the mail server address, i.e. I assume I don't need to put in every website we want to access? No, that would be silly... but then... who knows.
I would add forwarders (your ISP DNSes) to /etc/named.conf and turn off IPv6.
In theory I know about these unix style text files, but do I need to be logged in as root to see them? I can't see the /etc directory and searching for named.conf brings up nothing. Also, I turned off IPv6 on the server and shortly after someone with a server based home folder got a message sayiing that they'd lost connection to all the mounted volumes on that server with "disconnect all". Turning IPv6 back on made that message go away so I don't want to play with that again for the time being!
Is there a way to set these things up without resorting to editing text files? I'm an old-skool mac user and so it's a bit scary. I should have made that clear from the beginning. Thanks! -

Check for yourself as that article is complaining about OS X client, they openly state
they don't have server to test with. So the complaint is legitimate, but dangerously inaccurate.
Unless you have installed the server update and verified that it does not fix the issue. -
2nd DNS Server- Cause Issues on Main Network?
At work there is already a Windows 2003 Domain controller that serves up DNS and DHCP. I want to try and deploy iCal 2, which requires DNS, Open Directory and a FQDN name for my server.
I already have the DNS name. However, will configuring and running DNS cause any issues on the network with the other computers, which get their DHCP address and DNS requests from the Windows server? I'm not going to deploy DHCP, and thus, I won't be introducing a 'rogue' DHCP server on the LAN. However, I'd like to be sure I'm not going to disturb anything before I proceed.having your own DNS server is not dangerous unless clients get that address. If you are not running DHCP on the new server your clients will not get that as their DNS.

When I sync my iPhone with iTunes I get an error message that says "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone" How do I fix this?
I had the same problem. I found this site http://itprokb.blogspot.com/2010/10/itunes-could-not-sync-calendars-to.html

I can no longer sync my touch with my computer. I'm being told that "the sync server failed to sync the iPod."
Are you sure that these times are still selected to sync in iTunes?
When you connect your iPad to your PC and with iTunes running, select your iPad under the devices button in the upper right corner of the iTunes window. Then click on the Movies tab and make sure that the movies are selected (checked) to sync. Check the playlists in the Music tab as well. -

(This is ambigous: from where are the calendars removed? From the device being synced to)
Click apply.
Oops! My memory is already gone stale. I think I left no calendars selected, then clicked apply. Then I selected the calendars that I wanted, then clicked apply.
In any case, I had a blank calendar on my iPad and then I had all the updated events that I wanted on my iPad.
Thanks to all who provided some of the essential clues to resolving this problem.
